The hotel is fantastic! From our bedroom, gorgeous breakfast and very helpful staff in the restaurant, at reception, Mo at the front door and Nicholas the manager, all made for a great stay! The hotel is well placed for visiting the old town. Thank you for such a great time!!
My wife and I had the absolute pleasure of staying at Hotel Place D’Armes for the final night of our vacation, and the only negative we can think of is that we wish we had spent more of our trip here. We were originally booked at Hotel Nelligan, but it was temporarily closed for renovations during the date of our stay, so we were relocated to their sister property. The entire process was handled incredibly professionally. Gabriel, the Director of Rooms at Nelligan, made sure we were warmly welcomed and well taken care of at Place D’Armes. From the moment we arrived, we were impressed. Alejandra, the Director of Rooms at Place D’Armes, is nothing short of amazing - THANK YOU so much for everything! We were greeted very warmly, had a thoughtful surprise waiting in our room, and our suite had also been upgraded, which made the stay even more top notch. The staff throughout the hotel were very welcoming and attentive. The suite itself was great - spacious, well-appointed, with excellent amenities and a really comfortable bed. The location is also perfect for exploring Old Montreal. We truly couldn’t have asked for a better experience and are already looking forward to staying here again on our next trip. Do yourself a favour and stay here!!
My family and I stayed at the Hotel Place d'Armes over our December holiday and had an incredible experience. The hotel has a beautifully elevated boutique charm and the staff are so friendly. Alejandra, Ricardo, and Ali in particular were so engaging, accommodating, and personable. They were so fun and attentive to my young son, making the stay even more memorable for him and us. Hotel Place d'Armes provided the personable touch often missing in most hotels. We had a fantastic room and enjoyed the on-site restaurant and common areas which were elegantly decorated for Christmas. It was wonderful being right across the street from the Notre-Dame Basilica and within walking distance to so many great dining experiences. Wish I was still on vacation there.
The team at Hotel Place d'Armes enhanced my stay immeasurably and exceeded my expectations. Alejandra (Director of Rooms) and Ricardo (Concierge) are a powerhouse team. They provided the utmost hospitality from the personal attention to impeccable service as well as their hotel team members. Their genuine passion to make your experience fabulous was undeniable. Hotel Place d'Armes advertises enticing amenities and services and they don't disappoint. I felt pampered with the turn down service along with the ambiance and coziness of the in-room electric fireplace. I fell in love with the hotel diffuser aroma, Odyssey's Ville de Quebec, which my daughter gifted me as a memento from our trip. This historic hotel is centrally located with walkability to Old Port, restaurants, the metro, and the beautiful Notre-Dame Basilica. Alejandra and Ricardo were always welcoming, engaging, and efficient in their stellar recommendations. It's no wonder Hotel Place d'Armes is the recipient of the Michelin Key 2024 & 2025 as well as Reader's Choice Awards. Would love to return in the future for a summer visit.
We stayed at Hôtel Place d’Armes as a family and had such a wonderful experience. We usually don’t take the time to write reviews, but this stay truly deserved one. We booked one room, and the hotel added an extra bed for our child, which made everything very comfortable and easy for us. The room even had a fireplace, which made it feel extra cozy after a day exploring Old Montréal. It was clean, spacious, and beautifully maintained. We had breakfast at Brasserie 701 and loved it. The food was delicious, the service was excellent, and they kindly seated us at a corner table, which made the experience feel more private and relaxed for our family. The front desk also arranged a late check-out for us, which was incredibly helpful and very appreciated when traveling with children. Overall, the staff were warm, attentive, and genuinely welcoming. They made our family trip feel smooth and stress-free. We would absolutely stay here again and highly recommend it to families visiting Montréal.
Lovely hotel in amazing location. Rooms perfect and staff friendly Big should out to Anthony in the restaurant. Young with a vibrant positive energy and warm smile. Nothing it too much trouble. Look after him. Rare find !
Extraordinary! Beautiful hotel and restaurant. Attentive and respectful staff. We will definitely be back!
We recently stayed at Hôtel Place d’Armes as a family of four and booked two rooms for our trip. From the moment we walked in, we loved the intimate and cozy feel of the lobby. It has such a warm atmosphere. There’s also a great area where you can enjoy complimentary coffee every morning, which we really appreciated. We had dinner at the French restaurant and it was absolutely delicious. Everything from the food to the ambiance was wonderful. Our rooms were clean, comfortable, and very well maintained. The service throughout the hotel was consistently excellent, friendly, attentive, and professional. We came from Ottawa and we will definitely be back!
Excellent location, clean x-large rooms, great value for impeccable service. Excellent concierge services and hotel management that cares.
Even though our stay at Hotel Place D’Armes was only for one night, it exceeded our expectations and left a lasting impression. The room had a lovely European and antique style. When we arrived, our room wasn’t quite ready yet, but the reception team was incredibly kind and surprised us with an upgrade, which was such a thoughtful and appreciated gesture. Everyone at the front desk was super friendly and welcoming. We had lunch at KYO, and the service was quick and attentive. Our server was very nice (I’m sorry I don’t remember his name, but he wore glasses), and we felt well taken care of. Special mention to Arezo, who checked us in, she was super bubbly and made us feel instantly welcome. Although we didn’t drive, every time we were coming and going, the valet team was friendly and helpful, which really added to the overall experience. The location is fantastic, we were able to walk everywhere, and there are so many great restaurants around the hotel. It made our short stay very convenient and enjoyable. Another special thank you to Alejandra, who even gave us her business card so we could reach out if we come back, which we definitely will. Thank you to the entire team for such a warm and memorable stay. We highly recommend Hotel Place D’Armes and look forward to returning.
We had a wonderful experience and I would stay here again. The staff were amazing, attentive, and very personable. It felt like it was a true boutique hotel before COVID. An example, we were met with staff that love their job and wanted to go above and beyond to make sure we had a great vacation. Almost like we owned the place. The location was perfect also. The room was very cozy and very quiet. If I needed anything, it was taken care of immediately. Like I said, I would definitely stay here again. I would Highly recommend it to friends and family and maybe even special occasions like weddings. The cost wasn’t bad either, I know it was a slow time of the year, however, it was still a vacation and we were treated very well. We have no complaints about the cleanliness of the hotel. The room was nice and clean and the hotel was perfect. We would be able to take our drinks down by the pool table and watch TV and visit with each other, like where are in our own home. I would give it five stars
We absolutely loved our stay at Hotel Place d’Armes! The location is fantastic, super close to downtown and right in Old Montreal. It was so easy to walk around, especially since the weather wasn’t too cold, and we got to explore museums, restaurants, and all the charming streets nearby. The service was amazing, everyone was so genuine and welcoming. Our room was stylish, super comfortable, and spotless. We also loved the billiard table, such a fun little bonus! Dinner at KYO Restaurant was incredible. Honestly some of the best food we’ve ever had, and the atmosphere was perfect. A huge shout-out to Soso and Allie, they went above and beyond. Allie checked in with us one evening in the lobby to see how everything was going, and when we mentioned the room felt a bit chilly, she immediately offered to send maintenance. Soso was fantastic too, she helped us with our KYO reservation and gave us amazing tips on museums. Both were super kind, helpful, and made our stay extra special. Overall, we had an incredible experience and would absolutely come back. Highly recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Montreal!
We stayed here for three nights with our family, and overall we had a wonderful experience. The lobby felt a bit cold, but it was also cold outside, and since we are coming from California, we definitely felt the temperature difference. The reception team was lovely and very welcoming. We especially want to mention Emily, who was incredibly sweet and kind. The valet team was also very helpful and assisted us with our vehicle and luggage. There was a Spanish lady in the lobby named Ali who was extremely welcoming and always offered her help during our stay. She even texted us to check on us, which was a very thoughtful touch and made us feel truly cared for. Our room was clean, comfortable, and we received nice amenities. We wanted to try the Brasserie, but it was busy during our stay. However, the in-room dining was delicious and exceeded our expectations. Thank you to the entire team for making our stay so pleasant. This was our first time staying here, and it definitely won’t be the last.
Our stay at Hotel Place d’Armes was absolutely amazing from start to finish. The location is perfect, right in the heart of Old Montreal, making it easy to explore while still feeling calm and refined. The hotel itself is stunning elegant, stylish, and full of character. The rooms were spotless, beautifully designed, and incredibly comfortable. Every detail felt thoughtful and intentional. What truly made the experience exceptional was the service. The staff was warm, attentive, and genuinely welcoming, always going above and beyond to make sure everything was perfect. You really feel taken care of here. From the atmosphere to the comfort to the overall experience, this hotel exceeded all expectations. I would 100% recommend Hotel Place d’Armes and wouldn’t hesitate to stay here again. A true gem in Montreal.
We stayed at Hotel Place d’Armes for two nights and had a wonderful experience. The hotel is perfectly located in Old Montréal, within walking distance of museums, restaurants, and downtown, which made exploring the city very easy. We stayed in the third building, and the room was nice, clean, and very comfortable. Throughout our stay, we crossed paths with wonderful staff. We were checked in by Moncef, a very kind gentleman who warmly welcomed us with, “Welcome to Hotel Place d’Armes,” which immediately set the tone for our stay. The valet team was also excellent, always kind and proactive. We also met Allie on our floor, who checked in with us to see how our stay was going and offered her assistance, which we truly appreciated. We have been to Montréal before, and we will definitely stay at this hotel again. Highly recommended.
This hotel is one big reason we loved our stay in Montreal. Excellent location! Great suite for space and for family to be comfortable. Alejandra (Ally) at the hotel invested time to chat with us and send a special surprise to the room to help us celebrate. She went above and beyond and personally wished me happy birthday. Also, we wanted our room’s temp a little cooler and she immediately sent the kindness maintenance man who would not accept a tip despite his time to make our stay better. Love the hot chocolate in the PM and the coffee in the AM. Gym has all you need. Large and cozy lounge spaces with a billiard table and tv were clean and great as well. I would definitely stay here again and recommend it to anyone. It’s perfectly located in the heart of old Montreal shops and eateries. The hotel is well kept, thoughtful, and elegant. Loved our suite.
Our first night in Montreal could not have been more perfect, and Hotel Place d’Armes played a huge role in that. From the moment we arrived, the experience felt warm, welcoming, and genuinely homey, exactly what you hope for during Christmas week. The hotel is absolutely stunning, from the exterior to the rooms. Every detail feels intentional and cozy without being cold or impersonal. The service was exceptional across the board. Valet, guest services, room service, and the front desk staff were all kind, attentive, and made the entire check-in and check-out process seamless. We were even surprised with a complimentary room upgrade when we return later in the week, which made our stay feel extra special. Thank you, Alejandra for making this a very memorable stay. We will definitely return and stay again in our next visit to Montreal!
This hotel is divine! Exquisitely appointed, amazing staff at all levels, and great location!!! Alejandra was incredible!!! Thank you!✨ Five nites of pure luxury!💝
From the moment we arrived, our experience was nothing short of amazing. This hotel truly delivers on warmth, hospitality, and exceptional service. The Director, Alejandra, is simply THE SWEETEST person. Upon entering, she greeted us with such kindness and immediately made us feel welcome. She took the time to personally direct us to a great place to eat when the hotel’s restaurant — which looks AMAZING — was fully booked. Even though we couldn’t dine there, thanks to her we still had the BEST experience. Her warmth and care truly set the tone for our entire stay. Mo, the bellman, was outstanding — so helpful and kind, and he brought our bags right up to our room with a smile. Little touches like that make such a big difference. Later that afternoon, as we walked out to explore the city, we were welcomed in the lobby with the most delicious hot chocolate. We took it with us and headed out into town — such a thoughtful and memorable touch, especially in the cold! The concierge Ricardo deserves special recognition as well. He went above and beyond in every way. He carefully went over our entire itinerary, told us exactly where to go, and truly helped shape a wonderful day for us. We’re from Florida, and he even provided us with warmers — such an incredibly thoughtful gesture. He was instrumental in making our day not just smooth, but truly special. This hotel provided the best hotel experience we have EVER had. I honestly can’t express it enough — from the people, to the service, to the warmth and attention to detail. YOU NEED TO STAY HERE! Hotel Place d’Armes is simply exceptional, and we can’t wait to return. Thank you thank you thank you Ricardo and Alejandra!!!! We loved our stay thanks to you!
The room was very spacious. Shower was huge, bath was classy. The service was very professional. The location was great. Can’t wait to be back during the summer.
We decided to spend a mini vacation to Old Montreal. I have been there a few times as a young niece /daughter before; husband’s never been. So we really wanted to dip our toes and enjoy the area as a couple, no cars, just enjoy being away from work, explore that area which neither of us ever visited before. Old Montreal gave us a place to go back to and relax after our mini exploration: Hotel Place D’Armes. We did not expect the little surprises and the truly wonderful hospitality that we received considering that we were not anyone that exuded fanciness or…. $$$$$. We were really more than happy with our first room despite that there was a small issue that we encountered, which the hotel addressed immediately. Additionally, Alejandra Fabiani, Director of Rooms, offered another room seamlessly and credited us. There was no moments that they treated us with less than kindness and welcome. The room was spacious, remodeled, clean, and beautiful. We didn’t plan to eat at Brasserie 701 and Kyo, and we were happy to try some good breakfast and sake. Amina, Moe, Amin, Alejandra, and one more staff (another beautiful woman with long dark hair, no glasses, we were in a rush to grab the ride and forgot to ask for her name) attended to us from start to finish. There was also two other staff, male, whom we greeted at the front: they were good natured though I suspected that they must have been cold. More than anything, a pet peeve of ours is we invest in time and money for a stay and the staff treats you like garbage. Hotel Place D’Armes was great for us, from the welcoming reception, the beautiful city view from our room, the amenities like the relaxing tub, and our surprise farewell meeting on the street with Alejandra again. We would really like to thank Moe and Amin for helping us at the very last moment afree our check out when our Uber driver decided to cancel our ride. Despite another person telling us that they did not have the service available at that time, Moe and Amin, did not acted bothered for one moment and they offered us a solution to get to our destination, which we were sure took time away from their other duties. Thank you again for our memorable stay and will come back again to explore the city … in warmer temperature.
My wife and I stayed at the Hotel Place d’Armes as part of a long weekend trip celebrating our dating and wedding anniversary. It was our first trip together out of the country and our first time in both Montreal and Canada so we were a bit nervous but that all melted away because of how wonderful of a hotel this was and how accommodating the staff - and especially director of rooms Alejandra - were throughout the trip. The hotel was gorgeous, the location was perfect, the room was so cozy, and the food both in and around the hotel was great. We will absolutely come back and would absolutely recommend this hotel to anyone visiting the city and looking for a great, centrally located hotel in Old Montreal.
Excellent experience! Exceptional customer care and attention to detail by Kelsey. Rooms clean and cozy, bed comfortable and all staff very customer focused. Truly spoiled by the experience. Thank you for a wonderful stay. Will definitely make this our place to stay in all future visits to Montreal!
Our small family, wife, husband and 8 year old child, did something a bit different during the US Thanksgiving week. We visited Montreal Monday to Friday and Place d'Armes was our HQ. The location in Old Montreal is ideal for exploring all the historic architecture and interesting shops and restaurants. With the expert assistance of concierge Ricardo, we mapped out or sights to enjoy and most efficient route. It is a walking city and used up plenty of shoe leather. Out experience at Place d'Armes was outstanding. The staff led by Alejandra was superb - friendly, kind and attentive. We want to come back in the summer for more adventures.
My wife and I spent our honeymoon at this hotel. It was an absolutely amazing experience. Our room assistant Alejandra was extremely helpful in reserving dinner reservations at restaurants and even a spa day for my wife. She went above and beyond to make sure we had a great table and when the spa was already booked for the day, found a way to make sure my wife not only got in but, had an exceptional experience. The entire staff treated us like royalty and we were just your average travelers trying to enjoy the city. If you are coming to Montreal, do yourself a big favor and stay here. You will not regret it! Thank you so much, to all of the staff at Hotel Place D'Armes. You truly made it the experience of a lifetime!
Cool hotel comprised of 3 old buildings in a super location of Montreal. The restaurant/bar stayed open late for a nightcap or late night snack, as well as serving a delicious breakfast in the morning. Service was very friendly! Our room was on the small side, but offered all of the amenities & a comfy bed.
My room was small and not terribly cozy, looked out on the fire station. Fortunately no emergencies while I was there. There was no maid service any of the days I stayed. Breakfast in the dining room was very good, available at an extra cost but worth it - the dining room was pretty and service was mostly good, food was excellent. The rooftop terrace was not available any day , which is a shame, since the weather was very mild and pleasant. Hotel location is wonderful.
Our weeklong stay at the Place D’Armes was a two-parter, and included a weekend trip by rail to Quebec City. The kind people at the hotel helped us plan our mini trip within a trip and babysat our car while we were away! In general this hotel is great—well located, clean, spacious, with excellent service and a fantastic restaurant and bar on the ground floor, Brasserie 701. (Try the Mount Royal!) The Rain Spa is a beautiful facility, staffed by very friendly and helpful professionals, connecting with clients with genuine warmth and compassion. Well worth adding it to your schedule of activities. I would be remiss if I failed to mention the outstanding service of concierge Ricardo Ecaterina! Ricardo corresponded with me prior to our arrival, helping with restaurant choices, things to do, and of course planning our brief detour to Quebec City. Old Montreal is a wonderful area, and the Place D’Armes is the ideal place from which to enjoy it.
Elegant hotel centrally located in Old Montreal. The service and ambiance of the hotel is outstanding. We strongly recommend Hotel Place d’Armes
We had a "junior suite" with a king bed and we've never had such a luxurious room! The high ceilings and brick walls gave it charm, and it was spacious, with a table & four chairs, a sofa, various small tables, and a bathroom that was gorgeous. The restaurant was pretty as well. We felt very well cared for at the Place d'Armes!
The hotel is in a great location in Old Montreal located at the Place d'Armes public square and Notre-Dame Basilica. It's close to the Old Port of Montreal and the Metro. The staff is friendly. The rooms are beautiful and there is a nice terrace for drinks and/or food.
This was our first trip to Montreal, a special anniversary trip and we wanted to stay in the Old Montreal area. Since our first choice of hotel was booked on our first night in town, we were directed to the Hotel Place d'Armes for one night. This is a really nice, albeit very large (4 buildings all in one block) that is run efficiently. Our room was very comfortable with limited windows on the front side of the hotel. Since it was a Saturday night, we didn't hear construction noise from the high-rise building going up across the street. (We did notice a lot of daytime noise during the week as we walked in the area.) We were told the hotel was having two weddings on that night, one of which was right below us (we were on the 4th floor) but the steady beat of dance music was not an issue, it was almost soothing as we fell asleep. In the morning, the street floor of our building was littered with debris from the party the night before, including nasty plugged toilets near the front desk. The front desk held our luggage until we could move to the other hotel and even drove us to that hotel with our luggage which was nice. Pros: - Nice and helpful staff, luxury accommodations - Comfortable bed and very nice bathroom with serious (in a nice way) water pressure in the shower. - Brasserie 701 on the corner of the hotel was really nice for brunch or an afternoon glass of wine/snack. - Location is adjacent to Place d'Armes which is a nice spot to sit and enjoy the sunshine with a coffee Cons: - You may be sharing the hotel with big events - You may have street noise from the front or back of the hotel early AM or late PM
We stopped by late morning to acknowledge that it wasn't check in time yet, but could we leave luggage there. The employee probably didn't realize that she gave us an irritated look, but she. Came back at check in time and was told that the room was not ready. We sat it the lobby for at least an hour, while other people checked into their rooms, with no explanation. Finally the concierge asked what the issue was and we said we had been waiting - he found out that our proposed room didn't have power, but did get us to a room. When we got into the room, there were candies and a note addressed to someone else. We had a reservation for dinner and they sat us in the sun so we asked for something shady and finally got that. Then later, we were in the room with a do not disturb tag on the door and the maid just tried to barge in, but the chain prevented her from getting all the way in. This hotel is too pricey to offer such mediocre service.
We loved our stay at Hotel Place d’Armes! The staff were amazing and paid great attention to detail. The building is one of the most beautiful in Old Montreal. We’ll definitely be returning!
The concierge and front desk agents are so kind. They really made our stay memorable and comfortable. We loved the hotel, especially our room with the brick wall
I often travel to Montreal for work, and the Place d’Armes is my go-to hotel. It’s a beautiful and elegant place to stay. While I’m working, my husband enjoys relaxing in the lounge or exploring the city center. There are plenty of great dining options nearby as well.
Our hotel was superb. Staff was perfect always ready to help and very professional . Our room was well appointed with nice amenities.
I stayed here with a friend, and I have to say that it was very disappointing. The exterior building is beautiful but the inside especially the rooms need a major overhaul. The room we stayed had outdated and used furniture, the mattress felt like it was so old and used it sank in the middle..! The room was dusty and in need of a redesign. The bathroom had premium fittings but the shower was disappointing as the water pressure was low and the shower head was clogged up with calcium buildup. Overall for the price I would never stay here again.
We loved our Junior Suite at this charming hotel. Immaculate, well-appointed, and more room than we expected. We requested a high floor to minimize construction noise. All the staff were welcoming and indulged my high school-level French! Rainspa offered wonderful massages- Cindy was spectacular! Don’t miss sushi at Kyo- one of the best meals we had in Montreal.
Amazing hotel with awesome staff and service. Large room with nice tub. Walking distance from Old Montreal and Downtown
Perfect location right at border of old city. Easy to get around. Concierge excellent and helpful. Rooms were ok- quite dated and floors squeak. The roof of bathroom esp the fan area quite dusty Dont go for breakfast to restaurant. Slow. Menu too limited Was a good experience but i prefer intercontinental not far from here
Expensive
Our room was right next to some sort of nightclub so we heard music all night. We use to come to this hotel quite regularly before and spend on suites and restaurant but ever since they have expended they keep giving us some of their new rooms in another building if we don't book a suite. The ceiling of the bathroom should be checked for mold. The air is musty. The room was so close to the elevator the we had people bumping on us when we tried to get in and out of our room. We could hear the elevator noises at all time, walking and talking., the staff coming in and out. This room should be for staff not clients. Very noisy room on top of earring the nightclubs outside at night. The walls are thin we could hear everything. Told the front desk the issues and they said I had to pay extra to be in the main building. (The building they advertise with) No thank you, this place won't have anymore of my business. At check out we were never asked how our stay was. They know very well they gave us a room no one should ever stayed in.
Older hotel- cleanliness in bathroom was a 4 out of 10. Staff and communication was top notch. Breakfast at the hotel restaurant was good as well. Probably 8/10.
Excellent location for shopping, eating and walking. Close to old Montreal port and great restaurants.
Great staff and room, Lobby and surroundings are poor at best. Literally better lobbies at a local post office. If you’re going to be elite, be elite from the start.
Beautiful hotel; excellent unpretentious service; ideal location.
The staff was great .. we had an issue with noise and the quality of our stay and the service staff and management made it right. We would definitely recommend and would stay again ourselves
The room smelled like food every morning. Even though they had complementary car service, they never provided it for us even though it was less than 3 km. We never felt like it was a VIP access hotel for us
Excellent location and lovely old building
Great location in Old Montreal and across the street from the beautiful Norte Dame Cathedral.
Luxury hotel! Omg we got upgraded to a junior suite with balcony!! The front desk agent told us that we have been upgraded and trust me it was a great surprised. The hotel is a luxury property with awesome awesome amenities. Our home away from home!
Hôtel Place d’Armes is a luxury property. Service was EXCELLENT without pretention. We loved our large suite. The bed was so comfortable and OMG the feather pillows!!! Felt like if I was sleeping on a cloud. We will come back for sure!!!!!!
We were amazed by the property itself. We were welcomed by the valet, Sam, who was very helpful. We loved our spacious room with real hardwood floors. We had a multi jet shower bathroom with luxury Le Labo amenities.
We were originally given an extremely small room in the old building for 3 nights. We were travelling from Australia with large suitcases & were unable to open them, however our travelling companions were given a large comfortable room for the same money. Upon speaking with the front desk & asking to be moved we were given a similar room for the 2nd & 3rd nights (Theo was wonderful & very obliging). 2nd room was clean, comfortable & spacious. Staff were friendly & the Japanese restaurant was amazing. Just disappointed we didn't receive the same room as our travelling companions originally as we paid the same money.
This is my "go to" hotel in Montreal, have been going here for years. Location, excellent staff and bartender who knows how to make a proper negroni.
Fantastic property and location
Due to the layout you sometimes find yourself walking through events. We passed through a wedding reception, a large night time party for some business conference, a open bar reception area and one sit down business meeting. Awkward. Also no one informed us, even at check in, that the roof top terrace restaurant was closing for the season on the second night of our stay. We were planning on having dinner there more than once but on the second night of our stay the waiter informed us that is was the last night the Terrace would be open before closing for the season. Also there was no one to help with you luggage and no luggage carts in the small lobby. Its quite a walk to rooms in the fourth building and to make matters worse the single elevator was broken the first two days and we had to climb four flights of stairs to get to the room. This hotel des have an excellent location if you are planning on visiting old Montreal and the dock area, It is literally across the street from the Notre Dame Basilica and the Place d'Armes. The restaurant on the ground floor is also very nice.
Loved the location and such a comfortable bed.
Although the location is wonderful and the hotel building looks beautiful from the outside, the facilities and layout were disappointing. There is no proper lobby, and access to the rooms involves walking through event venues where weddings and other gatherings take place. Getting to your room feels like navigating a maze of corridors and non-functioning elevators. The hotel seems designed for large tour groups, and the public areas were crowded. At breakfast, we had to wait in a corridor where waiters constantly pass by carrying trays of food. We requested our rental car the night before our early departure and even we called again half an hour before leaving to confirm it was ready, when we arrived in the lobby, the car wasn’t there and porter was running looking for the car key. In general , our stay was very disappointing. The experience did not match the image of a fine, elegant, and unique hotel that the property promotes.
Place was amazing! Friendly and accommodating. Room was clean. Ask for Ricardo at the concierge desk He will make sure your experience is enjoyable. Also the GM Kevin leads with passion. I would go back without question. Most importantly the Hotel is in the center of convenience. Also can’t say enough about the wait staff and valets.

Literally we had to walk through corridors full of China, sound equipment, food, chairs and tables while people were setting events. Very beautiful architecture and well designed and finished inside. Nice staff. Very conveniently located.
Zarah provided a bottle of champagne for our anniversary. Totally unexpected but appreciated!
Just a wonderful place to visit.
The location was perfect to explore old town Montreal and new town locations.
Just got back from a girls’ trip with 18 of us at Hôtel Place d’Armes, and everything was perfect! The location in Old Montreal is amazing—close to great restaurants, shops, and sights. The rooms were beautiful and super comfortable, and the food was delicious. Huge shoutout to Ricardo, the concierge—he was incredible! From helping us plan before we arrived to taking care of every detail during our stay, he went above and beyond. So friendly, helpful, and professional. He truly made our trip extra special. Highly recommend this hotel—we had the best time and can’t wait to come back. I’m a travel advisor and highly recommend this hotel to anyone!
Excellent hotel great location
Couldnt ask for a better location. Staff was attentive and quickly responded to all requests. The room (junior suite) was the perfect mix of historic charm and modern conveniences.
Wonderful staff. Exceptionally clean. Beautiful property. Perfect location.
The staff was wonderful
Did not utilize the Spa. The Hotel is within walking distance of shops, restaurants, museums, historical attractions a walking tours.
Great customer service from booking to arrival. Staff went out of their way to make sure we were treated right and special. The room was spacious, clean and the bed was so very comfortable! It was quiet and a fantastic location. Thank you to Ricardo and his team. Memorable weekend
Clean room near the Cathedral and shopping
Very nice hotel with great staff. The rooms were comfortable. The location in Old Montreal is fantastic, close to the Basilica and a short walk to the shops and restaurants on Rue Saint Paul. The only issue was that the nightclub across the street was open until 3am and very noisy every night….made it difficult to sleep.
Very central to many shops and squares.
We loved our stay at the Place d’Armes! We got upgraded to an executive suite with large bathroom. Bed was so comfortable and the sheets were very soft. Great service.
Very nice hotel centrally situated in the old port. We were upgraded to a suite, which was a pleasant surprise. Room was very clean, quiet, plenty of towels and toiletries, and lots of space to spread out and enjoy. Expresso machine in the room, or complimentary drip coffee in the lobby in the morning. If you are driving, valet takes some time to retrieve the car, so call the desk 15 minutes prior. Definitely recommend!
We spent two nights here in a penthouse suite and were beyond happy. The room was incredible with a separate bedroom and parlor. The electric fireplace was a nice perk and made for romantic evenings. We used room service the first night and ordered from both Kyo Bar and Brasserie 701. Room service was quick, the food was hot and both meals were delicious. SoSo (spelling may be incorrect) on the front desk is an asset and outstanding example of the excellent customer service provided by the hotel.
The hotel and staff were exceptional. The restaurant was understaffed and resulted in very slow service
Staff at the front desk were friendly, patient, helpful and very professional. Hotel is in a great location; central to many Montreal sites. Also visited the roof-top bar for a beverage from a friendly bartender.
Nice terrace bar despite the wasps
Wonderful hotel in the heart of Vieux Montreal.
We found the staff not very competent. Our room wasn’t even cleaned when we returned at 2:30pm. There were other issues also.
Great location. 701 was enjoyable. Ricardo was excellent.
Unfortunately did not have time for the spa
Great location
Very nice hotel. I was there for a business trip. My room was neat, good lighting as well. Location is a must, walking distance from the convention center.I recommend
Walking distance from downtown and old montreal. We loved our large suite with brick walls. Service was impeccable, from the entrance to our check out. We love the Place d’Armes
Hotel Place d’Armes is the absolute choice while you are in Montreal. Great staff, large and clean rooms and lots of amenities. We went to the rooftop terrasse, nice view. Just be aware of the wasps. They are everywhere in Montreal!
Room was great, although a couple of items were in need of repair. Staff were excellent. Room noise was an issue: loud music went late into the night, either from the wedding held in the hotel or from a club nearby (it sounded like it was from inside the hotel). Worse was that the sound of the tv in the next room could be clearly heard, which occurred late at night during our stay. For a hotel of this level and cost I expect better.
I booked and paid for a proper room and VIP access, but I was places in a smaller room and did not receive any VIP perks, not spa discounts as I was promised
It was the best location
A perfect location with exceptional staff.
Stunning room with brick wall. Both restaurants were excellent. Luxurious boutique hotel that we can hardly wait to come back to.
Clean
Upscale classic beauty in the heart of old Montreal
The hotel was amazing but lots of Dr
Close to Notre Dame Church and many stores, coffee shops, restaurants near the waterfront. Rooms were large and nicely furnished. Restaurant on site was very nice, good food and drinks. The rooftop terrace dining area is great when open. Desk staff and valets efficient and friendly. A shoutout to Ricardo the concierge for his help and attention to our anniversary celebration.
All staff were very courteous and helpful. Beautiful room, large room and bathroom, very clean
