It was my 4th time staying here and I am always impressed by their facility. It's clean and it's convenient when attending something at the Sunbet Arena

Breakfast was excellent - beyond expectation. Chef and waitress were outstanding in every way. The security is good the gardens well maintained. The linen [other than the pillows] was good.

We booked there because on their web site it stated that there was a restaurant on site. When we arrived we were told that one had to order for dinner at breakfast each morning so the restaurant was not open that night - this was very inconvient for us. On the web site it stated that there was a sofa, hairdryer, desk [[we booked 2 rooms, only had a desk], tumble dryer and drying rack for cloths in the room - NONE of these items were there. The pillows were as hard as rocks, they did however replace with better pillows when I requested them. The one bedroom had a bedside light on both sides of the bed but no plug point that could be reached on the one side, so that light couldn't be used. In the room I used, both the toilet roll holder and the hand towel holder were loose and hanging down at and angle and will soon fall off the wall.

The breakfast was very nice. My only suggestion would be a bigger variety of coffees ie Cappucino, Latte, Iced coffee etc A baby high chair would be handy.

The remote for the air conditioner in one of our rooms stopped working.

A Gate Remote to get in and out at the gate would be nice, but it is probably not an option for security.

We phoned earlier on saturday morning to ask can we book in a little bit earlier cause we are coming from far with a baby and the lady informed us that we can not come to the guesthouse as they dont have any rooms left and that if we wont cancel the booking that she will cancel it for us,she was very rude and disrespectful Our booking was confirmed.

It was my second stay at Penguin, and I will definitely return. It is value for money. The receptionist is always full of positive energy. Everything, the rooms and bathrooms, are spacious. The outside is very neatly taken care of

The water outage of 4 days but I was reimbursed for the 2 days I checked into another establishment that had water. It is a provincial problem that can cause inconvenience but other than that--- the rest was all 100% to my satisfaction.

Some guests had a private birthday party in the bar/ lounge area. Manager partied with guests till 4 a.m.! Could not sleep because of loud music! This is not a guesthouse. It is more like a Tavern!! Would not recommend staying there at all. Worst experience ever!

Ideally located and suitable for any accommodation needs from business to family. Nelly, at reception, is exceptional and facility extremely well maintained. Breakfast is tasty and all fresh.

The shower had no hot water and during the night the aircon stopped working.

My first impression of this guesthouse was amazing - Large merry Christmas tree at the door, soft music, relaxing fragrance and smiling face at the reception. To be fair - the staff remained very friendly and accommodating throughout our stay. The breakfast was enjoyable (apart from the unfortunate situation of the butter - which was provided on the table and used for the cooking in the kitchen - being rancid), and the selection of dishes on offer was large and varied. We did have an unfortunate experience with the cleanliness of our room/bedding, and the staff on duty were most helpful in trying to rectify the situation. The swimming pool is well kept, and along with the beautiful gardens makes a lovely view from the dining room. WiFi has good signal in all areas of the guesthouse.

There were chocolate wrappers on the floor under our bedside table - so the room obviously was not swept and mopped. Our bedding was clearly not fresh, and upon pulling back the covers it revealed blood on the duvet and the sheet. The staff on duty were able to provide a clean set of linen - but not of pillow or mattress protectors - I realize these did not have blood on, but obviously had not been changed since the last guest. The provided shower gels were half empty - also obviously not checked after the last guest's usage. There is not one towel rail in the bathroom that is not lose and falling off the wall - they are too small and thin to hold the large hotel towels and constant dragging on them. The photos of this guesthouse and it's amenities were taken, it seems, when the guesthouse was new and operating at the level of the supposed 4 stars it boasts. This, sadly, is no longer the case, and not fair to advertise it as such to those who are keeping their venues up to scratch. This is also evident from the fact that the majority of the positive reviews across the different social media platforms are all from many years ago.

It was amazing. I enjoyed the breakfast so much. The staff went out of their way to accommodate my diet. I cannot wait to visit again. The chef is also very kind and helpful.

The staff is not very responsive, you have to look for the to get attended to, reception phone is never answered and there is never anyone. The internet connection is very poor, almost none existent, I could not work at all.

The staff were really lovely - friendly, helpful and welcoming. The room smelled amazing the whole time I was there. The bed was comfortable and the room was clean and well maintained. It was peaceful and the block out blinds were a blessing for sleeping in.

It would've been nice to have the option to watch Netflix on the tv (with my own log in), but that option was not available to me. Also the wifi wasn't great so it made working really difficult.

Some of the things that were listed in choosing my room where not there. When I spoke to the receptionist, she told me if I want to change, I will have to pay extra money.

Right from check in, friendly and professional staff. Breakfast was good, they catered for my needs. Check out was great too. The room was very clean including the bathroom. Bed was very comfortable. Scenery beautiful. I love this place. Guard at the gate very attentive when it came to opening the gate.
