wir waren das erste Mal vor zehn Jahren im Damai und damals war es schon wunderbar und heute war es wunderbar, als hätten sich nichts verändert. Und die zehn Jahre wären nicht vergangen.

Preise fürs Abendessen meiner Meinung nach im Verhältnis und 20% zu hoch, aber Speisen Qualität sehr hoch.

Personnel serviable, attentionné. Petit déjeuner très bien et copieux. Piscine très agréable. Mention spéciale pour le spa et la qualité des massages.

This was our second visit to the Damai, we decided to upgrade to a garden pool villa, and it was absolutely worth it, lovely room in your own little private garden with your own pool. To top it of the staff was great and the food amazing.

We definitely felt very pampered during our stay at The Damai. Very authentic villa imbedded directly in the jungle, the views were spectacular from the swimming pool and the birds during the night made it very memorable experience. And of course the best breakfast ever with different healthy shots as a surprise everyday. Staff was super kind and attentive after our son got sick, they tried everything to make us feel comfortable. And the last but not least is the dinner experience with fantastic dishes of the highest level.

We absolutely loved our stay at this delightful resort—tucked away from the chaos and immersed in a truly pleasant, relaxing atmosphere! The food was exceptional and of the highest quality—the best we tried in Bali. The spa is a little oasis of peace and relaxation; the massages were wonderful, and the overall atmosphere was truly unique. The staff were exceptional—prompt and attentive—and room service was fast and meticulous down to the finest detail. If you want to spend a few days without a care in the world, this is the perfect place for you!

The only criticism I have—in my personal opinion—is that having the bathroom open to the sleeping area isn't practical. The bathroom should be separate (including the sink and mirror area), because getting up in the morning and waking up someone who is still asleep isn't ideal!

Het is werkelijk fantastisch. Wij hadden een pool villa en ons verblijf van twee nachten was eigenlijk te kort om er optimaal van te genieten. Het eten is er heerlijk. Het ontbijt zeer uitgebreid en het personeel doet alles om je te verwennen. Het hotel regelt shuttles naar het strand en je kunt per golfkar opgehaals worden bij je villa als je slechter ter been bent of gewoon geen zin hebt om te lopen. De spa kunnen we zeker aanraden. De beste massage ooit.

Als ik iets moet opnoemen dat de badkamer alleen een buitendouche heeft met een grote regendouche en geen kleine handdouche.

I honestly do not have enough words for how great The Damai was. The room exceeded all expectations: beautifully styled, very spacious, completely private & quiet, with an amazing pool, cabana, and bathroom. The staff were superb, incredibly responsive and kind, and went above and beyond to make my girlfriend her birthday special with the room decorations. The bar, cocktails, breakfast, dinner, and gluten-free allergy handling were all excellent. I will definitely come back here.

I honestly have to look for something here, because there was very little I did not like. The only point would be the airport transfer pricing, which felt much higher than a normal taxi service. I would recommend keeping transfers closer to cost, as this is often the first impression guests get before arriving at the hotel.

The property is beautiful. The rooms are so well decorated. Damai is true to it's tagline — hard to find, hard to leave. The place is lovely. The food is lovelier. Haven't had such good food at a hotel in a while. Tucked away in the hills, the cottages feel like homes and I really wish it was where I lived.

Something seemed off with the service, a little desperate to be pleasing. The rooms and food are expensive — not that they do not seem worthy, but tad too high.

מלון יפהפה, עם צוות חייכן, אדיב, מנומס, אינטליגנטי, שנותן לך הרגשה שאתה האורח הכי חשוב במלון. המיקום מול הנוף היפה, הוסיף להנאה ולקסם של המקום! הבריכה המעוצבת, המוקפת בירוק, מול הנוף, הייתה מפנקת, היה ממש כייף לשבת באזור. החדר מעוצב ברמה מאוד גבוה, והכל היה כל כך נקי. המלון נמצא במרחק של עשר דקות בערך ממרכז לובינה, נעזרנו בהסעות החינמיות של המלון. לדעתי האישית, למעט שייט הדולפינים שהיה מקסים, אין מה לעשות בעיר עצמה, לכן, יום אחד נהננו מהמלון וממה שיש לו להציע, היה ממש פינוק!

המחירים בבר ובמסעדת המלון, היו מעט גבוהים מהמלונות שהיינו בהם קודם לכן, שנמצאם בדירוג כוכבים דומה.

Repas hors de prix pour Bali (3 à 4 fois les prix pratiqués en dehors de l’hôtel). Beaucoup de marches pour se rendre à la chambre alors qu’il semble qu’il y ait une voiturette pour les clients, mais pas proposée.

My stay at The Damai was nothing short of exceptional. From the moment I arrived, the warmth, kindness, and professionalism of the staff made me feel completely at home, genuinely some of the best hospitality I have experienced anywhere in the world. The property itself is a true hidden gem. Peaceful, elegant, and surrounded by breathtaking nature, it offers a sense of serenity that is increasingly rare to find. There is a timeless sophistication to The Damai that reminded me of the golden days of Aman Resorts — understated luxury, impeccable service, and an atmosphere that makes you instantly slow down and appreciate every moment. Everything was handled with such care and attention to detail that leaving was honestly difficult. I was genuinely sad to depart. If you are looking for an authentic luxury experience in Bali away from the crowds, The Damai is truly something special. I cannot wait to return.

Prachtige ligging midden in de natuur en de accommodatie geeft je echt het authentieke Balinese gevoel. Niet super modern maar van alle gemakken voorzien en erg comfortabel.

Prijzen van het eten zijn niet in verhouding met de prijzen in andere hotels of eetgelegenheden op Bali. Ruim 2x zo duur als in andere luxe hotels die we hebben bezocht. Eten was daarentegen wel heel erg lekker!

Wir hatten hier einen wunderschönen Aufenthalt. Der Service ist überragend gut, das haben wir so in noch keinem Hotel erlebt. Die Poolvillen sind komplett privat und man hat wirklich ein bisschen Dschungelgefühl mit den vielen Pflanzen und der Outdoor Dusche. Da man das Wasser auch wirklich heiß einstellen konnte, war es auch kein Problem bei Regen draußen zu duschen, sondern eher ein besonderes Erlebnis. Insgesamt ist die Anlage sehr schön gestaltete. Auch das Essen ist wirklich sehr gut. Wir waren rundum glücklich und zufrieden.

Die nächste Stadt Lovina ist jetzt für uns persönlich kein Highlight gewesen. Wir haben die Tage dann doch lieber in der tollen Villa verbracht. Insgesamt ist es vor allem im Vergleich zu anderen Unterkünften auf jeden Fall hochpreisig.

The food was excellent. Every meal felt like a curated experience. If you are looking for a place to recharge your soul in Lovina, this is it. We left feeling refreshed and deeply grateful.

Magnifique, tout au top, un hôtel qui vaut 5 étoiles. Repas de grande qualité, coktails excellents. Cadre superbe et calme, personnel au petit soin.

Villa Umah Ratu superbe avec vue sur mer à partir de la piscine. Très belle décoration balinaise à l'intérieur. A noter deux chambres avec 2 salles de bains et 2 piscines ! Repas excellents, cuisine recherchée. Très attentif aux préférences alimentaires exprimées.

The Damai is located about a 10‑minute drive up into the hills from Lovina, offering a peaceful retreat away from the bustle of town. We stayed here for just over two weeks and felt truly at home. The staff are incredibly friendly, and the service is consistently at a five‑star level. The food is excellent — while relatively expensive by Indonesian standards, the quality is outstanding and the restaurant area is beautifully designed. Breakfast is a highlight: rich, varied, and full of thoughtful extras such as detox drinks and smoothies. I strongly recommend booking breakfast with your stay; it is absolutely worth it. When it comes to the villas, it’s important to pay close attention to the category you choose. All are exquisitely furnished but some have limited views, while higher‑tier villas offer more impressive outlooks. Overall, The Damai is a beautiful oasis where you can relax and unwind, surrounded by nature and attentive service. We would happily return.

The only drawback we experienced was the noise during the early hours. From around 4:00 a.m., the sound of motorbikes with loud exhausts traveling up and down the road can be disturbing. At 6:00 a.m., the muezzin’s call to prayer lasts for about 15 minutes, which may be challenging for sensitive sleepers. I would suggest bringing earplugs if you are sensitive to noise.

The breakfast included in the booking was the best breakfast in the island. The pool, the stuff and the garden are super nice.

The hotel is a bit worn out. We took the Garden Villa and it’s a bit locked in with no views and its “garden” is tiny. This is a 5 star hotel and it’s a bit expensive for Bali. Mainly the restaurant.

Kambarys labai gražus, tvarkingas, dekoruotas subtiliomis ir išskirtinėmis detalėmis, kurios kūrė ypatingą atmosferą. Ypač sužavėjo langas į vidinį kiemelį su dušu bei vonia – tai suteikė dar daugiau privatumo ir romantikos. Restoranas – aukščiausio lygio. Maistas nepaprastai skanus, o pusryčiai tiesiog tobuli. Kiek girdėjome, meniu sudarė labai talentingas šefas – ir tai tikrai jaučiasi kiekviename patiekale. Net jei neapsistosite viešbutyje, vien dėl restorano verta čia atvykti. Taip pat likome sužavėti masažu – tai buvo geriausias masažas visame Balyje iš visų, kuriuos išbandėme. Kitose vietose teko nusivilti, tačiau čia patirtis buvo nepriekaištinga. Labai rekomenduoju rezervuoti masažą vos tik atvykus. Tai vieta, į kurią norisi sugrįžti.

The beds were comfortable , villas lovely and the free yoga was enjoyable . Massage was great however expensive .

Luckily breakfast was included as food was well over priced ! This reason alone I probably wouldn’t return ! Afternoon tea was included in the package which consisted of tea or coffee and 1-2 biscuits, and plate of fruit.

Lovina itself wouldn’t be my choice of place to visit. The Damai is the destination. Breakfast and food was excellent though on the pricey side.

The accommodation is beautiful, and the staff’s service truly lives up to a five-star standard. The interiors are a bit dated, but that didn’t matter at all – they are still very beautiful. The level of service at this property is genuinely top-notch. The breakfasts were rich and excellent; while travelling around Bali, we didn’t eat this well anywhere else. The cuisine is outstanding. The massages are also of a very high standard. The hotel-organised transfer to and from Lovina was excellent – whenever you messaged them on WhatsApp, it was arranged without any problem. Unfortunately, we weren’t very lucky with the weather, so without sunshine the accommodation felt a bit gloomy at times.

Although the cuisine is excellent, the prices at this hotel are very high. You are paying for true fine dining, which is not something you have the time for every day. After returning from an excursion, you just want to eat quickly – that’s not really possible here, as dining is a full experience with everything that comes with it, including a napkin on your lap and formal service. We were happy to indulge in it once during our holiday, but it’s not something we need every day. If the prices were more reasonable, guests wouldn’t be forced to look for alternative options elsewhere. The same applies to the massage prices. We experienced many massages in Bali, and these were three times more expensive. It’s a shame – if the pricing were fairer, we would happily go for a massage almost every day.

Die Lage ist einzigartig und sehr ruhig mitten im Wald. Sehr freundliches und zuvorkommendes Personal stets da wenn man jemanden braucht. Das Frühstück immer frisch und sehr lecker.. Der Shuttle nach Lovina und zurück klappt sehr gut. Wir kommen gerne wieder.

Magnifique établissement. Notre chambre était très spacieuse et décorée avec gout. Le personnel adorable et prestations haut de gamme. Nous avons particulièrement apprécié le massage de bienvenue dans un spa magnifique et les petits-déjeuners dignes d'un brunch (l'option healthy était top) dans un cadre luxeux avec une belle vue.

Comme indiqués par les autres hôtes, le restaurant et les prestations (massage) sont assez chers (mais dignes d'un très bon resto en France). Cela oblige à trouver d'autres solutions pour les repas alors que le cadre et le personnel sont vraiment au top. Dommage !

Hard to find. Very, very hard to leave! We loved absolutely everything about this place. The tranqulity dont show in the pictures, the location, the rooms and especially the staff is absolutely amazing! By far the best hotel I ever stayed in!

We spent two weeks in Bali for our honeymoon, staying in 5 different points of the Island. The Damai was our third hotel and third location. We chose this as our "luxury option" and the place where we would settle and relax after a busy couple of days. The hotel is gorgeous and so was our private villa. Every detail was well thought about. The hotel kindly gave us a complimentary honeymoon benefits and I was delighted to walk into a bath full of petals! Thank you. The free massage is a nice touch, it was a dry massage and id never had one of these. It was wonderful and just what was needed for sore and tired muscles. The staff were friendly, attentive and couldn't do more for you! We felt very well looked after. The breakfast was incredible and would definitely recommend booking with breakfast included. It is worth every penny. We are vegetarians and the hotel catered for our needs very well. We found there wasn't really anything we could eat on the lunch menu and when raising this the chef was more than happy to come up with some alternative options for us.

Dining on site became very expensive - This being our most expensive hotel, we should have expected that dining here would also be costly. However we didn't quite anticipate the cost. The food was beautiful, but there wasn't an awful lot on the vegetarian menu for dinner. All of the food was well presented, but very high end and as other reviews have highlighted, sometimes you just want to have some comfort food for dinner such as a pizza or a nice cheesy pasta. Given there wasn't much we fancied on the dinner menu we headed out into Lovina some nights to eat. The staff seemed disappointed with this, but travelling the island comes at a cost and our money would have been better spent elsewhere. To give you an idea of cost, dinner with 2 mains (no starters), a beer or two, cocktail and side was roughly 2 million. Which was an awful lot just for one night. Views from our room - The listing boasted sea and mountain views. We sadly didn't have these, our pool was bordered by fencing and greenery.

Privacy and the service was friendly and top notch. Breakfast which came free was fantastic!

Tolle Unterkunft, sehr sauber und gepflegt. Das Personal durchwegs sehr freundlich und zuvorkommend. Vom Frühstück bis zum Nachtessen, einfach exzellente Küche!! Sehr ruhig und es fährt regelmässig ein Shuttle nach Lovina.

Das Damai ist ein ganz besonderes Schmuckstück in den Hügeln von Lovina. Extrem schön und gut gepflegte Anlage mit tollen Zimmern. Sehr hochwertig ausgestattet und ein Frühstück und Abendessen der Spitzenklasse. Täglicher kostenloser Shuttleservice ins Zentrum inkl Abholservice sind im Preis inbegriffen. Das gesamte Personal ist auf Topniveau und alles in allem ist das Damai eines der besten Hotels auf Bali wenn man in Ruhe entspannen möchte. Auch das Spa ist auf gleichem Niveau!! Wirklich ein absoluter Geheimtipp für Ruhesuchende!

Es gibt wirklich nichts zu bemängeln.

Sowohl die Lage als auch die Ausstattung der Unterkunft waren einzigartig. Das Design im Kolonialstil, das Pool, die Außenanlage und die Räumlichkeiten waren für uns absolut top. Wir haben uns sehr wohl gefühlt. Es war unglaublich schön.

Es gab nichts auszusetzen

Bereits beim Betreten des Hotels spürt man, das es etwas Besonderes ist. Das Personal ist extrem zuvorkommend, die einzelnen Villen geschmackvoll und großzügig eingerichtet. Das Frühstück und auch alle Gerichte der Speisekarte sind vorzüglich. Der Spabereich wird sehr gut geführt. Die Massagen sind sehr professionell und die Yogaklassen ein Highlight. Wir waren jetzt das 2. Mal da und werden wiederkommen

Nous y étions pour notre Honey moon, ils avaient rempli la baignoire de fleurs, mis des pétales de roses partout sur le sol et avaient fait une jolie déco sur notre lit 😍🙏✨

A beautiful hotel set in discrete and lush grounds. Our villa was perfect. Plenty of living and sleeping space and a private terrace and pool overlooking a stunning valley to the sea in the distance. The staff are absolutely wonderful - friendly, caring and attentive. The food was really good - at the fine dining end. The team are very responsive to organising anything you want from excursions , shuttles to Lovina and airport transfer. We wanted a relaxing and quiet week and the Damai delivered exactly what we needed.

We stayed for 8 nights and although the kitchen cooks well there is no flexibility in the menu. Some nights we simply wanted something really simple and this wasn’t possible.

Such a beautiful venue, that celebrates the old traditional way of Balinese buildings while not missing out on any comfort at all. The location is just amazing settled in the jungle right above Lovina and not as cold as in Munduk. We had an amazing stay and staff was super friendly, welcoming and helpful. Even living in Bali, it was a little holiday get-away and showed me new spots on the island. Will definitely come back.

Très bruyant, bruit de moto matin et soir tard ! Le prix est trop cher ! Plus cher qu’en France c’est trop pour Bali et pour un emplacement sans vue ! Le massage moyen 1 sur 2 car on demande de ne pas toucher les cheveux et au final elle met de l’huile plein la tête ! On demande fort uniquement sous les pieds mais elle fait fort partout sauf sous les pieds ! Dommage !

ALLES! Het hotel, de 2 villa’s, het ontbijt, lunch, diner,… kortom alles was subliem van t begin tot einde! We deden voor de 1e keer yoga in het hotel en het beviel ons enorm, ook de gratis welkomsmassage voor elk van ons 3 en de Balinese massage beviel ons enorm. Ook het personeel was op en top! Vriendelijk, behulpzaam, 24/7 waren ze er. Ook de taxiservice en de excursies, georganiseerd door het hotel, waren héél goed! Een onvergetelijk verblijf en een echte aanrader! Dankjewel aan het hele team van ‘the Damai’!

Overall, our stay was okay, but the hotel clearly feels past its prime and in need of a strong overhaul to return to its full potential. The hotel itself is nice and probably still the best option in Lovina, unless you move up into the mountains for something different.

The first night we had quite a bit of noise from the AC, which was bothersome. It was partially fixed the next morning but still not ideal. The staff were polite, but compared to other places we stayed in Bali, they felt less warm and welcoming. I’m not sure if this is due to management/ownership changes or because the hotel is trying to position itself more as a premium property. Overall, a good stay but not amazing — more like a solid 4-star, though leaning towards 3-star in terms of experience. With proper renovation and renewed attention to hospitality, this place could really shine again.

I had such a beautiful stay at Damai. Set on a hill overlooking lush green landscapes and the sea, it felt peaceful and truly special from the moment I arrived. The room was spacious and stunning, and watching the sunset from the pool area was absolutely magical, one of those moments you don’t forget. The food was excellent (breakfast was a highlight), and what really stood out was the service. The staff were so kind and attentive, remembering my dietary needs throughout my stay, which added such a warm and thoughtful touch. It felt like more than just a stay, it was an experience filled with care, beauty, and genuine hospitality. I left feeling so looked after and can’t wait to return
