I expected just a little more than a buffet.
When you say a personal breakfast instead of a buffet, I expect a personal breakfast.
The view and the hotel were beautiful . The staff was wonderful.
I wish the pool was a little warmer.
Super vue, location et salle de bain.
Beautiful views and lots of cozy seating areas inside and out.
The window in our room looked into the indoor pool a bit weird to me.
The room was very clean, modern and had an exceptionally comfortable bed. Loved the jet tub and shower. All the amenities. We will be back.
You might want to check into bartenders.
Beautiful hotel right in the middle of lake placid. My son loved the pool and hot tub, we enjoyed having a balcony off of our room, and that we had option to bring our pup. Would definitely stay again
Very large hotel so elevator figuring out correct ones could be confusing
Did not have any meals here…dining room looked fabulous though!
The walk back upfront downtown
So beautiful.
Hiking up the hill
Everything was wonderful. I was not a fan of the pillows but I loved the hotel. Absolutely would return!! Pub food was great! Staff was beyond kind and friendly . Excellent experience.
Pillows
We we're able to get early check in
Only there one night everything was great
It was beautiful there. Views were amazing.
We got there after dark. Took us way too long to find it. No outside signs telling us we were there. First impression was we were at a fine dining establishment. (It was so dark outside). Asked people in the back parking lot where the hotel was and they said, Your here) So happy!
Nice view from the patio.
Very old and mostly filthy.
Location, cleanliness
Tv was not working in both rooms.
Loved the room and view from our balcony. Breakfast was good. Really enjoyed relaxing on the property and the view overlooking Mirror lake. Would stay again.
Good location and building for sure. Mostly clean and decent room.
Lots of maintenance issues - door didn't deadbolt, shower didn't close, sink clogged, hallway fire extinguisher case broken, vending machines had no listed prices. Building was good, staff nice, mostly clean, just need much better maintenance.
This hotel lived up to it's name with a Grand View! Everything was exceptional, from the friendly and professional staff to the delicious breakfast to the wonderfully comfortable Adirondack decor to the unbelievably good value. It's within walking distance to town and also has a private beach across Mirror Lake. Many cozy sitting areas and a fire pit. Will definitely be back!
The pool could've been a bit warmer but that's a very minor personal opinion!
The property is beautifully kept. The grounds are lovely and the view is amazing. The location is perfect! The room was clean and freshly painted. Some of the hallways have new rugs and paint.
The pool and hot tub were not as clean as they could be. The pool area was clean, but the pool itself had a lot of dirt and grime on the bottom and the hot tub had dirt in it. The pool was still and didn’t seem like the filter was working. This is unusual.

No breakfast
One of the BEST hotel I ever stayed in
Nothing
The room was really nice and very clean. The bed was one of the most comfortable hotel beds I've slept on!
The "pool view" was very odd, I wasnt expecting it to be a window literally connected to the ground level of the indoor pool room where people could stand right next to the window. I had the curtains shut the whole time since it felt like such an invasion of privacy both ways. The "grand view" comes at a literal steep cost, the road and stairs are so steep that its really hard to walk both down and up them. It makes going into town difficult and it's not elderly/disabled friendly.
Room nice and clean, next time I bring my own pillows.
Location. Landscaping. Views.
It was wonderful.
Food was good. Location was convenient.
Staff were unfriendly
My fourth time staying here I love it! Love the view. The rooms are very clean. The breakfast is awesome and had dinner there too. The staff is amazing and walking around different stores and around the lake too was awesome.
Beautiful building. The main dining room is so beautiful.
Everything.
The cleaning staff isn't aware of who is still checked in unless there is a do not disturb sign.
Grateful location
No pool down for maintenance
The exterior grounds were really enjoyable
Room coffee was foul. The WiFi was spotty and very weak. The clerk at check-in was surly.
Grandview allowed us early check in and late check out. Allowed us to enjoy the area a bit longer!!!
Location and view of Lake Placid. Best in town. Family friendly.
No bottled water in the rooms
This location exceeds my expectations I absolutely love this place from the Main Street walk to all the restaurants the view the stores the sun rise and sun sets all nature things to do . Great place to bring your girlfriend and family
Great location, beautiful view
For a pet friendly hotel, not very pet friendly. Patio restaurant not pet friendly which makes no sense as we had to leave the property to take our dog out for a bite to eat and drinks.
The balcony door couldn’t be opened
Well kept beautiful location
Nothing. I enjoyed the property and everything about it
Beautiful views and flowers. We liked that there was a restaurant attached
Staff was not friendly. My room was very dated and the sliding glass doors were broken so you couldn’t open them
Nice view of mirror Lake. Pool is nice.
Room smelled like cigarette smoke. Rooms need renovation. Expected friendly your service.
The food was great, as was the view from our room.
The balcony was tiny. Also the construction noise was annoying.
Location is great. Lake view was amazing.
great location,great staff
nothing
Location was great. Food and ambience also.
Location, view, private beach.
Beds could have been more comfortable.
View was amazing. Room was clean. Hotel is doing some upgrades.
Nothing.
Amazing view from our room and also the restaurant & bar. Plenty of parking space. We had a nice, clean and comfortable room.
Not a fan of the elevator. We used it once and then opted to climb the 4 flights of stairs. It was definitely one that made you feel like it was going to break any moment.
View is great.
The restaurant with great view is not open to residence if not eating there. Was not told the facilities when check in so almost missed the private beach. Was not told the access to free coffee and water
The grounds are beautiful and away from all the hustle and bustle. Really nice view of the lake a d the town from up top. The hotel is nice looking too. Very clean and cozy.
It's expensive to stay at this hotel. I splurged because I take a trip once a year to go hiking and then relax at a nice hotel. When I got to the hotel I was freezing from hiking and being rained on and my shower only let out ice cold water. Some men came to work on the room right away but it took a long time. They were very friendly and tried their best. I let it go and tried to start enjoying myself but then shortly after I started hearing construction and drilling sounds right next to my room. It was so loud the walls were shaking. That went on for a long time. At the desk when I checked in they asked if I had a preference on where my room was and I said quiet please. They must have known there was construction. A little heads up would have been nice. I ended up trying to reach out to the manager via email. I should have called but I was exhausted and didn't want to complain to the front desk again. The manager ended up refunding me a little bit of money. My stay wasn't relaxing at all and I wish I would have stayed somewhere else.
Very friendly staff, Adirondack ambience, view, and breakfast.
Room could use a safe, exhaust fan, better sound deadening between rooms and to keep the fire pit on past 10:18PM.
View of Mirror Lake. Beautiful.

The noise
The bad: 1. This hotel sits up a massive hill. While one of its perks is it is walkable to downtown and it overlooks the lake, the walk back to the hotel is up a massive incline and if you have any issues walking up hill, this is a big obstacle to overcome. 2. The resort has a free private 'beach club' on Mirror lake. About a 15 minute walk or a 3-minute car ride. While it is nice they offer this for free, it is in need of massive upgrades. The beach chairs are from 1970 and the lounges have one setting. You cannot adjust the lounge chair ( it just stays in the fully laid down position - so you cannot lay on the chair and look at the lake) . They are the old plastic slotted chairs and many are broken and damaged. They do offer free beach towels and the kayaks and paddle boards are free to use. There are sand ants (apparently per other guests, they are always there) 3. The lake front balcony is very narrow. They supply a bench and that is it. But you cannot sit on the bench facing the lake because it is too narrow. The first floor rooms had 2 Adirondack chairs and much more space. View was still good just not as high up as floors 2, 3 and 4 The great 1. Restaurant and Bar: There is a restaurant on site for Lunch and Dinner. You could eat inside or outside. Meal prices were on the higher resort side but comparable to what you would expect. There is also an inside bar, but you could take your drinks outside. They had plenty of chairs and tables and even a very nice fire pit that they lit every night. The restaurant and bar stayed open late until at least 11pm. 2. Pool: Inside pool was large and had a hot tub. They say it was heated, but I would call it temperature controlled. Was probably around 78 degrees. 3. Breakfast: They had a breakfast buffet that was very good. Once of the best we have had. It is $17.00 and it includes your juices, tea and coffee. The had an omelet and egg station where someone made fresh omelet and eggs to order. Then also had all your normal breakfast foods. 4. The view: Flat out amazing. 5. Location: very nice. You could walk to Mirror Lake, downtown, the Olympic area and rink. Other than the walk back, it was a very good location. Quiet at night. No other hotels in the area. 6. Staff: Very friendly and informative 7. If you want to avoid the walk back up the hill, there is a parking lot at the bottom of the hill that you could park at for reasonable rates. I think we parked there for 4 hours and it was around $9.00. 8. Rooms: We had a 2 queen room on the lake. The room was updated, clean and spacious. Bathroom was nice and had everything you would expect. 9. Hotel is undergoing what appears to be an internal renovation to their rooms and some common areas. We had absolutely no issue with noise though. The areas that have been renovated were done very nice. It looks like they are only renting rooms that have been renovated, but I would ask to make sure. 10. Lounge area with Fireplace. They have a very nice lobby lounge area with a gas fireplace. Overall: This hotel was VERY NICE. Would stay again with no issues.
Beautiful hotel, clean rooms, perfect location, amazing views, great staff
Lots of renovation going on, but we knew in advance and it really only affected which route you walked to the pool or room from the lobby.
Location
Long driveway /walking to events
None and first girl said wrong room so I had to straighten it out after a few times
Location too much of hill
We went for iron man weekend. The staff was great, the views great. Location perfect.
Pool and hot tub were great
It was difficult to navigate through and is a little pretentious
The breakfast buffet was not free but it was very good for $17. They had an omelet bar where you could get eggs any style you wanted. The View was amazing and you could walk to town. they also had a swimming beach and free kayaking which was a 5-minute Drive down to the lake.
They're indoor pool and hot tub were very nice but my only complaint is that the tile around the pool was very slippery when it was wet and it was very dangerous! something should be done about that
The views! Comfy beds Amenities
The front desk staff who greeted us on arrival wasn’t very friendly. Seemed to treat us as if we were bothering her. But cleaning staff and everyone else was great!
The view is amazing And the location for the Ironman event is perfect. Just steps away from the Olympic oval
The only down side for this event stay As we were walking. All weekend and going back to the hotel as needed This hotel driveway is brutal to walk up and down. Especially if you have any health issues A curtesy golf cart service would be a nice addition
Gorgeous view, lovely grounds, super friendly front desk, and dog-friendly. Bonus: they have a boat house, so you can grab a boat and go out on the lake
The downstairs restaurant doesn’t allow dogs, not even on the terrace which is tricky, since hotel policy says you can’t leave your dog alone in the room either. Walls are thin, and the AC seemed to turn off at night (timer?), so it got pretty warm.
In May or even earlier, I decided to book a stay with my partner in Lake Placid for a romantic getaway as we were passing through the ADK on my way to my place of residence. I was told on the phone that it was a very peaceful hotel and I asked for a King bed and lake view for $275. I arrived on 6/29/26 in the afternoon to check in. I was surprised that there were more construction workers than families in the hallways and construction tools left out and construction throughout the entire hotel, along with very poor signage. I'm not sure how ADA-approved the roundabout walk to the elevators to get to our 4th floor room. There was a long hallway where we were told to go right and to go past the blocked elevators to find "the elevators around the corner to the right" and then walk another long hallway with very poor signage. After several long turns and a sore ankle throbbing at that point after hiking all day, we had to then walk back to the front desk again to ask again for directions to our room. No one offered to check the signage that had been poorly placed or escort us and I was told the same directions again with the same few words. Weighed down by several bags, exhausted, we then walked back the way we had come to find the elevators to go upstairs to our room on the fourth floor. Construction workers were loudly banging and walking around us and there were several slip, trip and fall hazards all along our now 10 minute walk to the elevators, which I took pictures of. I can only imagine if I had a physical disability beyond a sore ankle, just how long that walk might be. Then, there were so many people waiting for the elevator (the single one available) that we had to wait until several families made their way up and then the elevator would come back down. Grandview Lake Placid had workers on every level and they also greeted us with banging at 7am and yelling. I actually had someone bump into me while moving something. We were gone and on the road. The complimentary breakfast had zero coffee (needed to be refilled) and no one was eating in there when we left by 10am. There were about 6 servers standing around doing absolutely nothing and it was awkward trying to just have a private morning in the breakfast place with the servers loudly talking (which costs money, not complimentary, though it appears to be online). I was very disappointed with my experience and I would NEVER recommend this stay to anyone. Grandview Lake Placid was NOT ADA- compliant that day. Hey, I'm fine if things need to be rebuilt or improved, but I was never told months previously or even upon arriving at the hotel that there was construction. They said they put a sign somewhere inside the building. Thanks, Grandview Lake Placid, that's not helpful after we have already booked a room and are physically already there. Unacceptable. All of that for $293 that I paid and had none of the amenities available. I cannot believe that they allow construction workers to be working on the exact same hallway, or next door in our case, while people are sleeping. I did not sleep well, that is for sure. Some romantic getaway. I won't be returning. At least tell us what we are walking into before we arrive! I would have definitely made other arrangements. It does not look as nice as it does online. Disappointed and now out money. -Highly Disappointed
This is a jewel in the Mirror Lake area. The views of the lake and mountains are spectacular and the best of any hotel around the lake. The staff are amazing! They are so friendly and helpful, definitely the stars of the hotel. We were there for the 4th of July and this was our first time there, we usually stay at the Whiteface Lodge but the last 2 years we wanted to stay closer to town since we are empty nesters now. For us Whiteface Lodge is the place to beat and while The Grandview is not quite there yet but we believe with the planned improvements and upgrades it will be a worthy rival. Our room was in their newer wing with a beautiful view of the lake, mountains and down town. Perfect for the parade and fireworks with a comfortable king size bed and the best hotel pillows. It would have been nice to have a bigger refrigerator instead of the mini fridge though. The bathroom was perfect and decor was very Adirondack which is what we like. The rooms in the center section of the hotel were being remodelled while we were there with a lot of construction activity but it was not a distraction at all. The bar/restaurant was beautiful and has a wonderful view of the mountain s while dining. Our food was delicious but we did wish there were a few more options to choose from. We had planned on eating there a second nigh after the parade and before the fireworks but were told there was an hour and a half wait despite there being many open tables. We were told the kitchen was backed up so we went to town and picked up a pizza(not exactly how we wanted to spend dinner on the 4th of July). We will be back next year for the holiday celebration. I think we have found our new kid free Lake Placid hotel. P.S, The hotel's lake side beach is a great place to spend the day.
The view, the amenities and the atmosphere
The ongoing construction and the elevator not working
Food and service was great
Should have been informed about construction and given a discount
Divan inconfortable. Qualité du buffet déjeuner médiocre prix inexplicable.
It has potential because of the view
75 % of the hotel is being renovated so there you are staying in a construction zone. Also no hot water because of the renovation
Location and clean rooms
Some staffers
Location
Hotel staff were not friendly or informative. Honestly had no idea of what the hotel had to offer. Always felt like I was bothering someone if I asked a question. Upon checking in they unnecessarily kept mentioning I booked with booking.com. We got to the room and had the worst possible view. I called the front desk to request a change of room. They were unwilling to help mentioned booking.com again. I felt like they gave me a lower tier room because of that.
Bed was comfortable.
Not at all what was expected for almost $800 per night. On the lake with private beach access means the hotel is on the water with beach access on the property in our book. That's been the case with every hotel we've ever reserved. This hotel was across the street from the lake at the top of a massive hill and their private beach was all the way on the other side of the lake. The hours of the beach were not ideal for a family with kids. Open late and closed early. When we arrived, our bathroom was out of hand soap which drew the question of if the room had even been cleaned between guests. Everything seemed tidy but it made us weary. Rooms are completely outdated for the cost of the hotel. Hallways aren't temperature controlled so you're walking through insane heat until you arrive at your room. No actual room service even though they call it that. You have to walk to the restaurant to retrieve your order. We weren't even allowed to order on night two because the kitchen couldn't keep up with their dining room. Waited 30 minutes to be called to our table just to be told another 30 minutes or more and weren't allowed to order to go to our room instead with four children who were hungry. The majority of employees seemed like they didn't even want to be working. Door locks weren't even attached correctly. Had our privacy please sign on the door and came back to the cleaning lady in our room anyways. So many things were just shocking and not at all what we've experienced at that price per night or even HALF that price per night. Extremely disappointed.
The location and view are great. The room was very nice and comfortable. It was nice to have a full kitchen. The coffee is very good. There seemed to be plenty of parking. They are pet friendly.
There is extensive construction going on and the parking lot and back lawns are a mess. The restaurant is lovely but the food is not excellent. There are better choices in town.
Took the grandkids for a 3 day stay to grandview. It was superb..everything from checkin to the room was wonderful.the view was unmatched .mountains lakes etc.fireworks! Everyone was extremely nice and helpful.we ate dinner in the great room..great soup entrees and desserts and perfect drinks..so hard to find nowadays.Makenzies breakfast buffet was fantastic..omelette station all the extras and as a long time restaurant owner I commend your servers..excellent...We'll definitely return..thanks again
We have stayed at this property in the past and had a great experience. The views are beautiful. The pool and hot tub are great.
This property was under construction, which made it very inconvenient to go back and forth from your room considering the entire hallway of the first floor going to the rooms had wires running down it, construction workers everywhere. Our first room had an unsafe balcony and a stain on the comforter, so they changed our room - The 2nd room - double 2 bed room had no sofa, no desk and no where to set your suitcases. The drains in the bathroom were clogged. We ordered food to take to the room, I asked for no mayo on 2 sandwiches and both had mayo. The first day I was able to connect to wifi and after that could not connect to it. It was an awful week, we were not happy with the hotel at all.
The view and the location are great.
The wi-fi was off more than it was on, construction was everywhere, garbage was genuinely raining from the sky, earwigs were everywhere.
The property is good, it’s very retro, it needs to be upgraded.
Very nice hotel, lots of sitting areas, a huge dining area with great views, and a full bar. Great room, comfortable beds, good sheets and towels. Beautiful view outside our glass door.
The steep walk up the hill from main street to the hotel!!
The pool and hot tub were the only “nice” things in this place. And not even, because there was construction going on there too.
As we checked in we barely got welcomed, no communication of construction going on in the hotel. We got sent to a third floor and had to go through active construction sites. We had just driven 4 hours to get there and wanted to take a nap before strolling through Main Street. Couldn’t sleep at all because the construction was so loud it was shaking our room. And even though our room was “new”, the smell of fresh paint and construction was so strong that we had to open the windows for air. We complained at front desk and we were told construction was daily and shouldnt be hearing anything after 6:30pm but no solution was given. The next day we get woken up by construction at 8am, we complained again and got moved to a room in a wing that wasn’t undergoing construction, so we were able to enjoy our last night. A lot of the staff was either rude or didn’t know things. I think management needs to train their staff more on manners and customer service. A simple “Hello, how may I help you?” at check-in might have had us start on the right foot. Laurie was very helpful at the end of our stay when it came to resolution of our problems, but regardless, this stay was very disappointing and we will definitely not be coming back.
Views, locations, renovated rooms
Ongoing renovations and loud noises during the day
Upon hearing that the hotel was under renovation, I asked, upon arrival, for an upgrade (that I paid for) so that we had a lake view away from reno works. Kayleigh, at Reception, was excellent and was able to accommodate my request. Good work, Kayleigh!
was glad our schedules didn't coincide with workers and their noise. We did hear noise by 8am but we were on our way out by then. But renovations are important and we understand this has to happen.
We loved this hotel, beautiful setting on top of hill. Dog friendly. Would love to return.
My room assignment matched my wishes exactly. The newly remodeled room and hallway are very nice. The earth-tone colors and lighting are sharp. The new shower and bathroom facilities are nicely done. The new bath ventilation fan does the job. The new open cabinet furniture is very sharp. The new carpet and wall patterns are pleasing. The new Keurig coffee maker is a hit! All in all, it is nicely done.
Paying a premium room rate, like other hotels in the area, to stay in a hotel when you hear loud hammering and power equipment banging at 7:00 a.m. in the morning and after 5:00 p.m. in the evening. There should be a "Pardon Our Renovation" discount room rate offered during the construction period. Also, for stays three nights and longer the breakfast buffet should be included in your room rate.

Room choice
Nice comfy hotel with a welcoming entrypoint and great room, a decent sized King room with a view of Mirror Lake.
comment about construction turned into private note for hotel.
Location. Good variety of rooms and sitting areas. The pool and hot tub were clean and nice. The room was clean and enough towels were provided without having to ask for more.
The bathroom didn't have a fan. Construction was happening. The tennis courts were a lot to be desired.
Everything was excellent
Except that it was under construction but the staff was awesome
The overall facility is nice good location however we were disappointmented with our room.
The room was a little outdated. However the room's air conditioning system seemed to be blowing hot air all evening. Which made sleeping very difficult and unpleasant. When we brought it to the front desks attention they seemed somewhat concerned but didn't offer anything off the bill ( we were checking out that morning). We came down for the half marathon and I get that the room price may have been jacked up a bit. But if you're going to do that please ensure the room is in proper working condition.
Great location and very fair price
The location of the lodge was perfect for getting to the downtown area. And the view of the lake and mountains was stunning.
Somethings in the room, 441. There was a problem with the sliding glass door. It wasn’t on the track correctly and made it difficult to open and get to the balcony. Maintenance tried to fix it but it seems as if it needs to be replaced. Also the AC unit was very loud when it was running which was very annoying to light sleepers. Also, there was construction happening, roof replacement was noisy and a bit messy around the grassy area below us.
I liked the pillows, they were very comfy
Where to start? I had no privacy at all. There's a construction going on, so there was someone under my balcony at all times. Not one moment of privacy, ever (I stayed there for 4 nights). (I was on the third floor, at one time a guy on a hydraulic machine appeared right in front of my window painting the balcony walls) There is no hot water at 5 am (when I usually wake up), so I could not take a shower at dawn, only later in the day, which is absolutely crazy in my book. Like, this is supposed to be a high-end place, and there is no hot water at 5 am, absolute bat-shit crazy. The first morning I put out the "Service, please" sign, someone flipped it to "Privacy", so I did not get service (new towels, coffee pods etc), which is another red-flag for me. WTF is this place? When I booked my stay I was never informed about a construction, either. How about telling about that to your guests? Constant noise. Forklifts. Avoid this place at all costs. I told you so.
Very close to everything
Rooms were nice
Fabulous views and great location. Good bar and firepits outside on the terrace.
The lodge is being renovated so workmen and vehicles are around. Our room on the top floor was very dated with old carpet and furniture and a balcony door that was stuck and the handle broke.
