A Nile cruise is an unforgettable way to experience Egypt, and Steigenberger made it truly special. The restaurant was one of the highlights, with excellent food and exceptionally attentive staff who seemed to anticipate every wish. We would only have loved to see even more Egyptian dishes alongside the international selection. Our suite with its private balcony was another highlight – watching the Nile by day and under the moonlight at night was simply magical, almost like experiencing a glimpse of Egypt from thousands of years ago.
The beautiful open-air upper deck felt underused. Dinners, cocktails or evening entertainment such as the belly dancing and dervish performances would have been wonderful under the stars, especially with the pleasant evening temperatures and Nile breeze. Unfortunately, our final impression was affected by an unexpectedly unfriendly front office manager on our last day. It felt completely out of character with the otherwise exceptional hospitality we experienced throughout the cruise and left an unfortunate final impression.
Food was very good
Spacious, comfortable cabin, good food, helpful staff, well-taylored visit program.
The boat always docks close to other boats, and their noise makes it difficult to sleep. Entertaining is lacking. The tour package is expensive compared to options that one can book locally.

Great Comfort and Great Service
Pickup not offered from Hotels in Luxor and difficulty in finding out the Cruise dock location.

The staff were great . Good variety in buffet
Wifi doesnt work facilities are little outdated .
Everything
Docking of the ships in columns
Gutes Essen, freundlicher Service,
Rooms are simple but comfortable. The food buffets are also simple but there is enough variety for the different tastes within a family, including children. The swimming pool is small but great to have on warm afternoons. The bedroom cleaning staff goes all out in decorating the towel arrangements, the kids were very amised each day.
The boat is a bit outdated, with dirty carpets. Our shower door was broken. Drinks not included. All staff expects tips at all times, breakfast, lunch, and dinner, and for any small gesture. Tours not included and at a high cost (350USD per person with no discount for children). We didnt take the tours as we wanted flexibilty with children planning our own schedules, but the reception of the boat has no concierge and was not at all helpful, they dont even want to say in which direction you need to walk in from the boat to the temple. The dock in Luxor is very far from the center, and a taxi into town or into Karnak and Luxor temples is hard to find, while many other cruises dock right in front of the tempels.
This was absolutely the highlight of our vacation in Egypt. All the staff were the nicest people we met in Egypt especially the dining room team. The tour guides were also amazing very knowledgeable, well-spoken and very nice. The ship its self was surprisingly pleasant, clean and spatious and the views of the nile just amazing. We had very bad experiences visiting Cairo (hassling, transfer issues almost causing us to lose flight home) but this Cruise and the nice people we met along the way is what we choose to remember from this vacation.
Wifi was poor/non-existant but it's a minor fault. Bring a book and disconnect :)
Generally a good experience. Boat is a reasonable size and has a tiny pool, sun deck area etc.
The boat is decent, but please note this is definitely not what I would consider a 'luxury' cruise - I paid more as it was marketed this way, but I think all of the boats are pretty standard. They're relatively basic. The staff are very friendly and well-intended but quite inefficient / disorganised. I was quite taken aback by the lack of organisation. Firstly I've never done a cruise before. Check in says 12pm so I hurried to get there at 12, but some information leading up would have been great (boat was docked at the departure dock overnight which would have been helpful to know). Upon check in (which took 45 minutes), no information was given about the boat, what's on it, where things are, meal times etc. Literally no information. I had to ask every single question. Then when I asked about the additional tour package (which is expensive, but worth doing) the front desk had no idea about the tours at all and what would be done, when, on each day. I understand they partner with a local tour company, but if they do this every day, they should be much more proactive about knowing very basic information. They also don't give you a day by day itinerary, they just say 'check the night before and we'll tell you what's happening the next day' which isn't helpful - again the same tours happen each week so it should be a very easy thing to solve. Secondly the curtains don't fully close (built that way) in the rooms, meaning the sun shines right through. Some nights the multiple boats sailing are docked right next to each other (touching) and when this happens it means you're glass to glass with a neighbour's room on another boat, so curtains would be handy... Also this removes your view. Can also be really noisy around all the other boats. Buffets are Western - a shame. The boat has a laundry service but it was wildly expensive. Also, expect to not have any wifi the entire cruise. It does not work at all.
Excellent food options, room have windows opening right onto the water when the boat is sailing. Generally a worthwhile way to cruise on the Nile, the scenery is wonderful and the temples/sites along the way well worth a visit. Most of the staff was friendly, the dining staff especially.
Beware of booking the 450 USD tour package option on top of the cruise price. This price is an astronomical surcharge and a seasoned traveler, with some research and preparation booking on sites like Trip Advisor, could book drivers/guides in Luxor, Edfu, and Aswan for a fraction of this price. Kom Ombo temple is a short walk away from the dock with excellent explanations, so that is totally feasible for a cruise passenger on foot. I booked this 450 USD option and regret it very much, it soon became obvious the drivers and guides were only being compensated a fraction of this cost (I learned that with site tickets, a full-day guide, and a driver, a day of visit should be 50-60 USD at most). For the 7-night cruise, the boat spent long stretches of time docked at the port of various cities, and sailing time is very short in comparison. When docked, the boat is often right next to other boats, resulting in your cabin being completely obstructed by other boats. For this reason I would opt for the 4-night option if I were to do this again, as docked time can feel very long and repetitive with the 7-night option. While most of the staff was great the reception staff could sometimes be a bit condescending or intrusive with their questions (I was a young woman traveling alone).
Extremely perfect experience!Beautiful view ,delicious food, clean room with thoughtful service. It is worth mentioning that the stuff on the cruise are experienced, elegant and patient. The 3-night cruise experience satisfied all my fantasies.
Super clean, large cabins. Great food, but mostly it was the staff who made it great. They were very friendly and helpful.
Small issues like the WiFi is not good but nothing major.
Fabulous staff. Always available to help. Great. And adaptable food option. Had a lovely time.
Personnel in cruise and cleanness
We reserved the Jaz Celebrity, but we onboarded to another cruise without asking for permission, very bad and late answering the phone and message. The difference in price has not paied yet and no one answer. The wifi was useless There was no coffee and tea in the cabines, and you have pay for beverage even with the meals.
Really nice room and friendly staff; amazing buffet
The Jaz cruise was a perfect choice comparing to all our other stays in Egypt. All the staff were nice and friendly. The food was unexpected delicious and you could feel that they’ve prepared it with heart. It was always very pleasant every time when we came back from a day trip to the ship, knowing that there’s nice service and great dinner waiting for us. Thank you so much for the fantastic experience.
Nothing
Hardly anything was worth the price paid
Food was horrible. The cruise itself is a very dated boat with very antique look and ceiling height low that makes it feel very small. We had a suite and a regular room and yet not much space to move around cuz of all the furniture that is unnecessary. The main issue was the food. The food is served at a very specific time so if you need even water you will be charged outside of it. They have an unlimited drinks option that is $50 bucks per person per night which we thought was not worth it. We paid close to 7k for the 2 suites and yet we couldnt get any decent food . The options are very egyptian and the preparation is too bland . No kids options and it was a challenge. Also ordering water in the dining room is charged . imagine not offering water at a Buffet ??? It just feels like nickle and diming every penny and plus local egyptian places are less than $5 and the cruises charge at 10 times the price. The cruise also dint take responsibility of the vendors they brokered us to namely the airport transfer which we dint ask but they got a guy who showed up with a name plate that never once told us what it would cost us , the guide tour that was 850 bucks for 2 adults and 1 kid which was almost like a military drill to wake up at 5 in the morning to go to sites cuz the boat leaves at 10;30 . When we complained the cruise simply passed the buck to the vendor
Staff very nice, but food is soso
Great, friendly and helpful staff... Wonderful experience sailing down the Nile
Nothing
Excellent in every way except the electrics and the virtually non existent wifi. We managed the electrics and had our own data sim for the wifi so no real problems. Staff food and drink were great. The boast was clean and in decent nick. I would book again and thoroughly recommend this one.
The ship was run to a very good standard.
Not enough shops on board e.g pharmacy, (a doctor was on board) but everyday items ( paracetamol etc not available to buy)
EVERYTHING
- View from the sun deck - Staff was mostly very helpful - The food was mostly good. Lots of options and good variety.
- Overall, we had a very filthy feeling during our entire stay and were happy once checked-out - The room looked like it was not renovated since the boat has been built - Carpet floor looks like it was never cleaned - Bedsheets and towels were very, very old, used and had stains on them (they were supposed to be white but the color was rather grey) - The bathroom was the worst. Mirror was never cleaned, and the water in the shower did not run off properly (i.e., we were standing in heel high water while showering) - Only 1.5 days of actual „nile cruising“, rest was spent anchored in Luxor and Aswan
We enjoyed the excellent buffets with a great variety of food, truly as good as or even better than in most 5 star hotels. We could list a long list of positive comments but beside the comfort of the boat the friendliness of all staff members is to be highlighted as a huge bonus to book this Nile cruise.
The wifi connection was not always of excellent quality, but we hadn't expected to have free wifi at all, so this was only a minor issue.
The food was more than perfect, our chefs were great people. Especially front desk manager Gamal was very helpful.
The tour price was expensive we did not bought it. Except that everything was great
Cruising the Nile and the spectacular scenery was amazing. The buffet had a lot of good options and the staff were very friendly.
It took them 3 days to answer a question through bookings prior to check in. Then they didn't give us the correct name of the dock that the boat was leaving from, or any check-in instructions. The driver got lost, they didn't answer the phone, it was really stressful. There are no tea/coffee-making facilities in the room, and the decor is a bit dated. They changed dinner times on a whim and the seemed to decide on the day what the program was.
No thing
Dirty bed sheets Bad , dirty and old bed mattresses
The staff were very helpful, the food was tasty. The bed was comfortable. The ship was fun. We highly recommended.
The fact drinks were not included. No coffee or tea pot in the room. Towels and sheet could be little newer.
Every thing was amazing. All the staff are very kind and helpful specially Mr Mark in the reception .
Almost everything was likeable
Swimming pool was freezing
Everything was real good.
The bathroom top is too high to get in.
Everything except the food.
The food.
Relaxed friendly atmosphere and staff.
Price of beer 😆
The experience as a whole was great and the staff were very friendly and helped make the experience more enjoyable. Going along the Nile on a cruise is also very relaxing, especially when travelling in the day.
The rooms were a little old and run down, especially in the bathroom. However, they were clean. Not a big fan of the excessive amounts of diesel burning from all the surrounding boats and being docked on other boats when stopped - especially when you look out the window and directly into another room of the next boat.
Everything was more then perfect All the staff are more than great. Special thanks to Mr.Ahmed, Amr, chef and all restaurant' staff and housekeeping staff and Hogan.
Lack of accurate information from Cairo Office's staff
Very good breakfast, the only thing I missed were the juices
We traveled on the boat via bookings - not with a travel agency - and it was absolutely impossible to get any information about our cruise. We messaged the boat several times thought different emails and never got any answer. A week after our cruise was done, they replied to one of our question. The WiFi did not work also.
It was a very enjoyable experience. The crew was amazing and no request went unfulfilled. Everything was done with a smile and sincere warmth. Meals were served buffet style and were wonderful. So many choices! Also included was a carving station, fresh pasta station and an egg/omelette/crepe station. Drinks during lunch and dinner were not included, but very reasonably priced. We opted to purchase the optional tour package at $250 a piece. Great decision, as there were only two other clients and we were provided admission, transportation and a professional guide during our visits to all the historic sites. It was well worth it!
The Crown Prince was relocated to dockage 10km from the center of Luxor the week prior to our arrival and was difficult to locate. Our driver had to ask directions to find it. Overall the Crown Prince is a good ship, however it is tired and needs major work. The tile in our bathroom was missing grout, sealant was missing in the shower and the water temperature in the shower continuously changed while showering. There are few electrical outlets in the room and I was forced to disconnect a light to set up a charging station for our cell phones. At one point, the ship also developed engine trouble and we ended up not stopping at Kom Ombo, as we arrived there after the site had closed. This was disappointing! I realized that all of the Nile cruise ships were being run 24/7, with no down time. This again attests to phenomenal work by the crew to make the cruise run as smoothly as it did. Overall, it was still a good experience.
Everything was on a great level, hospitality, facilities, immediately respond to all we need. Actually didn't even have to ask, everything was there well organised and went smoothly.
check out at 8 am seems too early.Breakfasts too early too and dinner a bit too late.
It’s fantastic trip the views is very beautiful and all stuff is helpful and kind specially mr Mark and the cruise manager he’s very kind man and all the time looking after us and Restaurant manager also very good man and all staff is fantastic
There isn't anything I didn't like
Very friendly staff and management. They will help with anything. Food was delicious and varied. Tipping is arranged at the end of the trip so you don’t have a “pressure” every time being served what is usually situation in Egypt.
A bit bigger sunshade umbrellas at the pool deck would be practical especially in hotter months.
Nice cruise, good food, pleasant staff
My booking was not with the reception. Had to wait to get it sorted by them Thanks to senior manager Mustafa, he sorted it out and offered me drinks while I wait
the food was very good, room was clean, sun deck was nice
charging $200 extra for sightseeing (it was $35 on our own), very difficult to find the dock in Aswan. they charge $30 per person for a 20 min taxi drive, so we got our own taxi for $10 total, but it was nearly impossible to find the dock. it feels like it is left out on purpose so that you have to pay for their fares for transport. wifi never worked, also wish drinks were included.
very clean rooms, good food and service
extremely overpriced, we felt that everyone is trying to scam us and got extra money from us
It tastes good but there is no variety
Entertainment in the night
Staffs were really friendly. The buffet included in the package was overall delicious with variety of options to choose from every day. I was very sceptical whether this booking is going to be like a scam, but everything turned out well. Some info for the future guests reading my review: I booked 3 nights starting from Aswan to Luxor. The tour package is not included in the fare and costs $250 + $35 tips per person with a guide that speaks German and English recommended by the cruise. The guide took us to all the must see sights and explained the basic stuffs. Quite a lot of upselling during the tour to convince us to buy additional tours but not too pushy. Overall, I would say it is still worth having a guide as he kept us away from all the hassles on the street. Meal on the ship starts at around 6.30/13.00/19.30 and drinks are not included in the package. But drinks are priced fairly. Tips were collected centrally at the end of the trip and guest can place the tips (recommended $5 per person per night) in a mailbox which will then be distributed to the entire staffs.
Overall the ship and facility needs renovation. No slippers included in the room as the carpet is dirty and outdated. The information is not widely available online about the ships schedule, tour package, and it's docking station. Better communication about those things will gain more trust from the tourists. Depends on where your room locates, sound insulation could be an issue. Bring some earplugs with you to sleep better. Also, if your are vegan, this cruise is not for you.
going down the Nile
This boat is a fraud . Some staff were rude. We did not head off till 3 pm second day with & other boats arrived at temple it was dark so disappointing. They wanted to charge $250 USA when you board yo see temples - rip off - they want to charge you for water and coffee. The boat was not even the one we booked with booking.com. We really only traveled one day down Nile. The last day we had to be off by 8 am .
friendly staff and cleanness
I’m not satisfied with the organization of the events on the cruise
EVERY THING
LACK OF COMMUNICATION AND CLEARING OF DOUBTS..
Nice clean property with excellent facilities. Many thanks to all staff.
I was not informed about the location of the property which took some time to find.
excellent staff, food quality, cleanliness
terrible wifi (this is not befitting of the rest of the experience), bathrooms need a little maintenance.
Staff were amazing, whether housekeeping, catering or hospitality - all fab and all constantly working - don't know how they did it Food was excellent and full compliments to Head Chef
This was not our boat - they switched us 6 hours before leaving for airport by telling us this boat was in for refurbishment- we were on Crown Jewel but Crown Prince was in service next to us - so were we misled??? Charged us $350 for 7 day optional tours but we did identical tours to 4 day cruise at $200 - will take this up separately as not acceptable, feel we were ripped off
The staff are friendly and helpful, they go an extra mile to make the stay as wonderful as possible. The food is very delicious and a lot of varieties.
Nothing major, just the room TV is outdated.
Excellent! Great staff, tasty food, perfect service, very clean, comfortable rooms!
