Wonderful hotel in the heart of the Port Louis Marina, and they even have their own water taxi to transport you over to the Caudan district. Room was spacious with a huge, super comfortable bed. The gym is open 24 hours and is super well equipped. Loved the attentiveness of the reception staff.

The breakfast was the only somewhat disappointing part, while it was an okay buffet, it felt a bit lacking for a hotel of this caliber.

I stayed at Le Suffren for five nights in September 2026 as a solo female traveller visiting Mauritius for a conference, and overall I had a really positive stay. Check-in was a little more complicated than it needed to be. At first I was given the booking for another guest who happened to have the same first name as me, so there was a bit of confusion before everything was sorted. It was resolved, but it wasn’t the smoothest start after travelling. The hotel is very well located, particularly if you need to get in and out of Port Louis, as it is very close to the main motorway. Despite that, I couldn’t hear any road noise from the hotel at all, so it still felt peaceful. The pool itself is fairly small, but the pool area is lovely, with plenty of sunshades and comfortable places to sit. The artificial beach is also a nice extra, although because it sits right by the marina, it can feel slightly like you’re sunbathing in the middle of the marina rather than on a traditional beach. One thing I would mention, particularly for solo travellers, is that the access road towards the city is very dark at night. I did walk it, but I didn’t particularly enjoy doing so and ended up using the torch on my phone to see properly. The hotel does actually provide a free water taxi from the other side of the property, which connects you directly to the rest of the waterfront and means you can avoid the access road altogether. I only found out about this on my third night, though, so it would have been really helpful for that to be explained at check-in. There is also a Winners supermarket at Victoria Urban Terminal, around a 12-minute walk from the hotel. It is really useful if you want drinks, snacks or a few basics for the room. It can be a little difficult to find the first time if you don’t know exactly where you’re going, but once you’ve found it, it’s very convenient. I ate at the hotel one evening and had the sushi, which was really nice.

Reception staff were great and did everything I asked....very friendly and arranged my luggage from Taxi to Room, Room to Taxi. Informed me I was getting 10% off food and beverage if paying by Visa. The staff in general are very pleasant and helpful...seems to enjoy working in the hospitality industry and well trained. Was on half board package so had 1500 MUR / per person towards the meal, which is ample for starter and main course.

Only negative was the breakfast.....cooked Pork bacon and sausages were not good quality. Better if you ordered when arrived, similars to the Egg Station, the poached eggs were excellent.

The port location was close to the shops and restaurants. Some museums were also walking distance, so overall it was a nice location with good amenities.

There were no beaches close by as the hotel location is in Port Louis which is close to the city but not the famous Mauritius beaches. However, you could go there with a short taxi ride.

Die Lage zur Watherfront war perfekt. Alles sehr sauber und ansprechend. Das Personal war sehr freundlich und hilfsbereit.

Brotauswahl beim Frühstück läßt zu wünschen übrige. Sehr viel süßes bei Buffet, die Auswahl bei Käse/Schinken/Wurst war bescheiden, keine Tomaten oder sonstiges Gemüse. Im Bad gibt es keine Ablage für Cosmetic und die Dusche wirkt sehr unhygienisch.

It was very noisy at night on July 31st. I couldn't sleep well.

L'hôtel est très bien situé, beau, propre, élégant et avec une équipe extrêmement aimable et compétente. Bravo particulièrement à l'équipe du restaurant, du bateau, et du bar dehors. La nourriture au restaurant est remarquable pour des prix raisonnables. Nous reviendrons avec plaisir !

Actually the hotel, Le Suffren Hotel & Marina was overbooked, we were sent to a sister property, Labourdonnais Waterfront Hotel. The sister property was fabulous. Our upgraded room had a balony that faced the water - just lovely. The breakfast was tremdous - better than we normally have with all inclusive breakfast options.

It rained - can't blame the property for that.

Hotel location was great for work in Port Louis, while still feeling like a vacation spot. Staff were friendly and food was good. Facilities were great too. Free parking on site and attentive front desk made things a lot more comfortable.

The ferry stopped running early most nights, and alternatives to eating at the hotel are all across the canal, there was a replacement shuttle, but pickup on the other end was slow. Arriving early for breakfast often meant warmers were not on yet and food was cold. Drinks are very over-priced compared to the meals at the hotel - e.g. €8 for a 500ml bottle of Coke Zero, while meals were in-line with restaurants close by. Some minor maintenance issues being attended to could really improve the overall quality of the hotel. Wi-fi was just OK, could definitely do with improvement.

Location was convenient. Breakfast buffet was good. Hammam and pool in the spa were nice.

The mould smell. You could tell from the heavily fragrance hallway it was an on going issue. Every time we returned to our room the mould smell was really evident. Shower was mouldy and felt unclean too. Outdoor pool was under maintenance with no notice.

The staff is outstanding and extremely supportive. In particular, Mutten from the reception and Manuella, the housekeeper, are dedicated to their work beyond what is expected.

The ambiance of the room appears to be dusty and filled with a stale odor.

Das Hotel liegt perfekt, wenn man die Stadt mit ihren Sehenwürdigkeiten ansehen möchte. Mit einem kurzen Transfer auf dem Shuttleboot kann man zu Fuß in die Stadt. Am Haus selbst hat man ein kleines Strandfeeling

This hotel is very old and dirty. They definitely don't care about their customers. The rooms are old and smell of dampness. They serve fruit that should be thrown away at breakfast. We couldn't find anything to eat at breakfast, and the staff, especially the head waiter at breakfast, were very aggressive. I will never stay at this hotel again.

It was my first visit to Mauritius, and it was only for two days - I wish I could have stayed longer! The hotel is very nice, clean, and tastefully designed. The staff are friendly, kind, and helpful; nobody is fishing for tips, and everything is done with respect and dignity. The breakfast was also very nice.

Perfect

The hotel was comfortable and well appointed. Our room looked on to the marina and garden which gave us multiple views. The pool although small had enough sunbeds and a further pool was located in the spa. The staff were helpful and pleasant. The water taxi is a bit of fun and an unusual way to reach the town centre. All in all a good stay.

Not much to dislike if anything.

The pool is lovely and I was able to get in some morning laps before beginning my day. The food at the hotel restaurant is exceptional! I made breakfast my priority meal for the day. There is a water taxi that will take you across the small canal to the shopping tourist district. It was lovely to be on the water if only for a minute. The hotel was able to offer us a several hour delayed check out due to our late airport departure. It made our final day on the island perfect and comfortable. I loved this hotel.

Friendly accomodating staff that remembered ny name and were always courteous and helpful. The spa services were affordable and very good. The spa facilities were excellent. The location allowed privacy but close to Le Caudan and central Port Louis

Lovely property, conveniently located near cruise terminal (3 minute cab ride), excellent food, and very attentive staff! Couldn’t have made a better pre-cruise overnight booking. Highly recommend!

L hôtel Suffren est très bien placé dans Port Louis. Le fait de prendre un petit bateau de l'hôtel vers le caudan ajoute un véritable charme. Il y a des soirées à thèmes La nourriture est de bonne qualité Le personnel est attentionné et digne de confiance J'ai oublié mon portefeuille dans ma chbre et il a été retrouvé et gardé en sécurité pour que je le récupère.

The hotel is conveniently located and dependable. The restaurant staff in particular are great ambassadors for the hotel.

I have visited several times. Unfortunately, over that time the accommodations are noticeably suffering from increasing under investment. Damp mould is more obvious in rooms, facilities more tired and some now lacking (no mini fridge in rooms anymore, limited replenishment in rooms, very limited menu in restaurant etc)

No lift in the hotel! High Prices at the bar. Port Louis is very disapponiting. Beyond the marina area, which itself lacks character, lies a scruffy port area, poorly maintained and slightly threatening at night. Guests need to stay on the marina side of the main road. The street market is rough and dirty with poorly maintained roads and pavements. The island is beautiful but the port capital should be avoided
