Best Western PLUS Chemainus Inn

Staff were very welcoming and although the hotel was busy they accommodated my request for a late checkout which my jetlag appreciated! Also, my room had a kitchen too so anyone planning a few days would have good facilities. I enjoyed breakfast which included quiche and muffins!

Air con was effective but quite noisy so I just switched it off when I went to sleep

It was clean and had everything we needed. The whole experience of the reason for being there was fantastic. It also gave us a good reason to stop on our journey to Victoria.

The breakfast was great, the location was great, and the room was very comfortable.

The problem was that we did not receive any room service. A note was put under our door stating that some cleaning staff called in sick and we would not be able to have our room cleaned, which we thought was ok. On the second day, we said we didn't need our room cleaned but asked for fresh towels and to have the garbage removed. They did neither. Later in the day when we returned to our room, we also noticed we did not have any more toilet paper. We had to go down to the front desk to request all three things. They provided us with fresh towels and toilet paper to bring upstairs as well as a large green garbage bag to empty our own trash into. This was an expensive hotel stay, we were disappointed with the service. We asked for some kind of refund but they said they couldn't do it because we booked through booking.com.

Everything about this hotel was lovely.

I chose it because it was pet friendly, but I was not happy about an extra $60 (plus tax) charge for two spotless dogs.

We loved the location and the spaciousness of the room, suite. The bed was very comfortable and the bathroom large with an excellent shower. Our room had a kitchenette and a good fridge which we utilised. Our room was very quiet. The breakfast was more than adequate with a good variety of food. Parking was excellent.

I believe if we’d been in a higher floor we might have had a water view. I don’t remember having that choice when selecting a room.

Wir hatten ein Zimmer für drei mit Doppelbett und Schlafsofa gebucht. Als wir nachts ankamen, war das Schlafsofa nicht gemacht. Es wurde erst nach erneuter Nachfrage am nächsten Tag, am Nachmittag, erledigt. Das Schlafsofa an sich war extrem unbequem. Zusätzlich empfanden wir das Hotel zusätzlich als recht teuer für die Lage und das Angebot.

Really enjoyed our stay here. I'm a fan of BW and this one was great. Lots of parking, friendly staff. Room and beds were very comfy. Very nice breakfast. Lovely area for walking the pup. Chemainus is a lovely place to stay.

I loved that the hotel is pet-friendly. The rooms were extremely comfortable, and the kitchenette was a huge plus. Breakfast exceeded our expectations; it was hot, delicious, and had great variety (10/10). It was also great to have the pool and hot tub; they were at a good temperature, perfect for relaxing and a nice extra distraction at the hotel. They also had a gym, though we didn't use it. Lastly, the location is very peaceful yet close to the center of town.

We requested to have our two rooms next to each other, but the hotel couldn't accommodate this request. It would have been great to have our rooms together and better interconnected.

A bit dated in decor

The battery back up in the smoke detector ran out. So at 2am it started beeping and the front desk person had to come remove it. That goes to show that they do not replace the batteries annually as per safety standards. What else did they miss?

We booked a last-minute stay at Best Western Chemainus, and it turned out to be a wonderful experience. My husband, Jax, and I felt so welcome from the moment we arrived. We really appreciated that the hotel is pet friendly, making it easy for Jax to join us on our little getaway. The room was clean, comfortable, and had everything we needed. The complimentary breakfast really exceeded our expectations. There was a wide variety of high-quality options, everything was kept hot and fresh, and it was one of the best hotel breakfasts we've had. The friendly staff and welcoming atmosphere made our stay even more enjoyable. We'd happily stay here again and highly recommend it to anyone looking for a comfortable, pet-friendly place to stay in Chemainus!

The Inn was very clean, comfortable and had a tasty breakfast in the morning. I enjoyed the swimming pool and we thought the hotel was very well run. It was also close to the charming town of Chemainus.

Our room didn't have a spectacular view but we could have chosen one for the view so we were not disappointed.

Located close to downtown Chemainus with ocean views from certain rooms, the Best Western Plus Chemainus Inn is hands down one of my favorite hotels. Very friendly staff, great value, and exceptional cleanliness in every corner. I may have heard a neighbouring room once during my three night stay; no excessive noise at all, and no noticeable road noise either. The room is equipped with an ac/heat unit by the windows, which open for fresh air as well. My stay included a generous continental breakfast spread, with toast, baked goods, yogurt parfait machine, fruit juice, coffee, tea, hot chocolate, eggs, hashbrowns, sausage/bacon, waffles, and probably more that I'm forgetting! For the price I paid, I felt the value was definitely there. I didn't get a chance to dip in the pool this time or use the gym facilities, but they appeared very well kept and clean.

From the friendly and helpful reception to the well appointed room we were completely satisfied with our one night stay. The generous breakfast was an absolute bonus. We were prepared to be underwhelmed but have to say the whole experience exceeded our expectations. Highly recommend!

The air conditioning kicked in very noisily at about 1.30 am. However we quickly located the power plug and sorted the issue by unplugging it!

Excellent varied breakfast. Comfortable bed. Good lighting. Didn’t realize we would have such a spacious suite, but for a five day stay it was good to have the large seating area. Actual bar soap was provided, which is what we prefer.

The pool closed “for maintenance “ without warning for the latter part of our stay. A nice touch would be to modernize the charging points to include USB-C. Noise did come through from the corridor.

We have stayed at this property many times. A lot of of the people that stay here go to the well-known theatre in Chemainus. We go simply to relax and enjoy the pool facilities. Rates were reasonable and we had a comfortable stay.

The pool and hot tub were closed to guests for two of the three days for a scheduled roof repair. We were not informed in advance or we would have cancelled our stay. The hotel manager offered no compensation and showed little empathy for our disappointing stay.

We arrived after the power went out in town. We were given a lantern to light our way, but were still able to check in. The hotel includes breakfast and has a fitness room pool and hot tub. Friendly, helpful staff.

It was difficult to maintain the right temperature in the shower and have more than a trickle of water. Toilet was not flushing properly but was fixed promptly. There were loud squealing noises frequently which may have been the water pipes; needed earplugs to sleep.

I was here for a soccer tournament with my grandson. When I checked in I had a wonderful man check is in. He was so helpful and very friendly. I didn’t know that they offered a continual breakfast he told me what was going to be on the hot breakfast for the weekend. The room was very clean and I even had a little kitchenette in my room. I was very satisfied with the room so was my grandson. He said that he enjoyed the swimming pool and hot tub. There was many other people who were there too for the soccer tournament and my grandson made some new friends and he had a school friend who stayed there as well. All in all I really enjoyed my stay there. We were treated very good and I will stay here again. Five stars from us.

The location was quiet and the kids liked the breakfast.

The rooms are outdated, the carpets and couches are filthy and there were silverfish in the bathroom. We wore our slides because the carpet was both sticky and crunchy.

It was not easy to readjust my stay, my reservation. The contact with booking was terrible and nobody got back to me.

Video tape your check-ins and interactions with staff to protect yourself. It is a great location for a hockey tournament. The room is clean; the mattress sunk in the middle, pillows are hard and thick. The default room temperature was low; would not dry hockey gear. We learned from other team members to raise the temperature high the 2nd day of stay. The breakfast doesn't offer oat meals, otherwise, standard. They have some nice front desk staff and two disrespectful ones. If you are a minority, you may be discriminated openly. If you would like to know what gaslighting experiences, please contact the manager, Rob. He got a A three times for gaslighting. It is not listed on Better Business Bureau! The check-in staff was mean and made unprofessional comments in mean attitudes, which I checked in the the staff worked the next day and was told that was unnecessary and uncalled for. Discrimination agaist visiable minority. repported to Rob, the manager over the phone on 20. He tried to brush it off stating there would not no evidence of this accident. I requested him to go over the vedio recording and talk to the staff invloved and provided the contact info and room number and dates stayed. He said that he'd call back on Feb 23. I gave him more time. no call. I call a few days later, happened to spoke the assistant manager of the front desk, so happened to be one of the staff worked on the day of my check-in. He appeared no aware of the complained I made. I called Rob again the next day. He was gaslighing me and said that he did not call back because he wrote my phone number wrong. With all the information he requested me to provide from the 1st call, he'd access the guest information and get the right phone number. He said this time, it is he says and she says. No approval and nothing he could do. I asked for a refund. He said that he needs approval from the board members. Then, they left a voicemail saying the board members are not willing to do anything about it. He even states the two staff who did the check-ins are the only minorities of the staff in the front desk. What does that mean？ DARVO is his approach. He even said that this Inn is not part of the Best Western chain. Lol. It is. Would you like to support these kinds of business? Read the staff's reply below. How considerate. Would you would contact the front desk who were mean for service about anything? Great management skills and understanding. Do we expect a person so good at DARVO admit it? He is right about one thing: there is packaged oatmeal at breakfast. To me though, no the same as a well prepared hot oatmeal. Please vote is rotating mattress = not sunken mattress? Please vote for the spelling of the my name here too. Even though competence is not the main complain here, just want to point it out it goes well with the mistake about the phone number. Or are we seeing the inability to look up my phone number through guest booking is just part of lack of capacity? Ah. I am thinking. What kind of quality makes a incompetent to be a general manager? If you read this far, and you may have to stay at this hotel, video tape your experience.

Wish they had come to clean rooms/change towels more often. Only came every other day which felt strange.

Third year staying with a hockey team and never had problems in the past with late checkout. Met with completely inflexible management who told me that the housekeeping schedule was far more important than customer satisfaction. If you are blocking rooms for a team I would give this hotel a miss
