Find it frustrating, pay for a suite, two people, but they only give one key,, to room , which is ridiculous nowadays in town for a weddin an not always together … they didn’t accommodate when asking for a second…

Our room was very big and the breakfast was really good. I would definately stay again to break up the long drive to Scotland from the south as it's only 10 minutes from the motorway and better value than the usual big chain hotels.

The WiFi was appalling meaning I couldn’t make an important work zoom meeting. Phone signal also poor so couldn’t hotspot. When I asked reception they gave me the staff password which was equally bad. On checking out when I told them again it was a problem, they said they knew there was an issue and they were changing providers - I said it would have been helpful to know that when I booked in. They Said they could have given me a dongle - but this wasn’t offered the first night when I asked about it. I had a court yard room - they didn’t explain before or when I checked in that it involved carrying my heavy bag up and down several flights of stairs. I couldn’t use the courtyard view or table outside my room because the kitchen vent was also in the courtyard and was very noisy. And the grey paint on the outside makes the hotel look miserable - they over use air fresheners.

Lovely old hotel with a charm. Had great facilities onsite, the staff were lovely and we enjoyed a drink at the bar.

Very quirky bespoke hotel. All the staff friendly and attentive. Stayed in a lovely garden room with patio. The Indian food menu is an absolute must, had the best tikka masala I have ever tasted and the breakfast was lovely and fresh and cooked to order.

Noise could be heard from the room above as the floor boards creaked! Access to the room was difficult as there was no lift and loads of “up and down” stairs! The dinner was fabulous - really great Indian meal. The staff were all really lovely and helpful.

The room was bright, airy and catered for all my needs. It was spacious and very comfortable. There were drinks facilities available and an iron / hairdryer, so everything was to hand that was needed. I did not make use of other facilities on site due to time constraints.

There was no hand towel or bath mat in the bathroom but managed well without.

Pool was rather small, overcrowded with 8 people in it! Staff were awesome and made up for any shortcomings, it was 5 star service, the place just needs modernising but that’s a huge investment

This is a charming hotel that's full of genuinely unique features that you don't see that much anymore. The staff were exemplary and the restaurant on site served some of the best Indian food I've had.

The room was lovely but had a bit of a “lived in” smell. Maybe the carpet or curtains needed a freshen up clean. But everything else was spot on. No residents bar. Closes at 11pm.

The leisure facilities were quite out of date and dirty. The staff member by the pool ignored screaming and diving children who were splashing other guests and filing them on their phones. The hotel is next to a busy A road so cars could be heard from most rooms Bizarrely, the soap and shampoo in our room had clearly been watered down rather than replenished.

Service was very good from all the staff, very attentive and polite. The food at the restaurant was very nice, good Indian food, though a bit pricey. Breakfast in the morning was very nice. Garden was nice to sit outside and have some drinks. The bed was comfortable to sleep in.

Could have done with a proper TV in the bar area as the world cup was on. The room was a little small and bed a little small. The pool was a bit small and busy, couldnt do lengths. Feel like they could convert the pool and make the bar bigger.

The hotel was very clean and tidy, and the staff were so friendly, welcoming and attentive throughout. The food was delicious and beautifully presented, and the staff regularly checked in on us to make sure everything was okay and offered top-ups on our drinks, which was a lovely touch. We had a really enjoyable and relaxing afternoon together, and it was the perfect way to celebrate our mum’s birthday. She thoroughly enjoyed it, and so did we! Thank you to all the staff for making our afternoon so special. We’ll definitely be visiting again and would happily recommend The Stone House Hotel for afternoon tea. 🫖🍰❤️

We stayed for four nights in a garden room. The room was quiet, spacious, very clean and had everything we needed for a pleasant stay. The private outdoor sitting area was a bonus. The breakfast was freshly cooked and delicious. We had dinner in the restaurant on three occasions and once in the bar. There was plenty of choice on the menu. All meals were beautifully presented and tasted good. The staff were welcoming, efficient and always cheerful. We would not hesitate to return if we were in the area.

This is not a 5 star hotel , what it is , is a hotel which provides very good quality for a very reasonable price . The staff are very friendly , the food is great , the accommodation is perfectly acceptable for a relaxing break . Both me and my wife would definitely choose to pay the extra and stop here next time we go to stoke on trent

for the money paid , i don't think it could be better

Staff were helpful and welcoming- Particularly the bar staff. I had a bar snack for my eve meal which was great. I was travelling alone for work but felt very safe and well looked after. Breakfast was a good standard although the continental buffet was fairly limited.

The bed was very uncomfortable and made a awful loud creaking noise every time you moved which really disturbed our sleep. Hardly slept all night.

The location in the village of Stone around countryside was excellent.

Property had all essentials. We had first floor room and as hotel had no air conditioning it was a little like a glass house in the evening. Uncomfortable to sleep at night but were provided with a fan for the room. No fridge in room and on a hot day so could not cool water to drink.

This hotel spa from the hotel to all its exceptional staff and amazing food is above and beyond. From arrival the staff were professional and friendly. The suite was clean and designed for comfort. We went to the bar and was served by the most friendly bar staff who never changed from our 3 day visit. The spa was small but had everything you needed. The restaurants serve exceptional food from presentation to ingredients and taste and choice. Would absolutely highly recommend this hotel.

I always enjoy staying here, although the rooms can vary in design and comfort. The entire team are very welcoming and will try to help with any problem. The restaurant serves Indian, Chinese and English dishes, all packed with flavour. Breakfast here is always a great start to the day. There is a pool and gym, but I never get the opportunity to use. Shame on me! There is a large car park with EV charging stations. The hotel is in a good location and easily accessible for all routes.

I know it was extreme heat this week however the room was very hot, only a small window, and only a desk top fan was provided. Mattress was a bit firm for my liking

The hotel was nice and clean and the staff were friendly and the facilities looked good. I didn't end up eating so cannot comment on the food sadly.

My stay was during an unusual heat wave and the room was extremely hot. There was no air conditioning but a oscillating fan was on in the room which was only blowing hot air around. In the corridor outside the room the radiators were emitting heat too which added to the discomfort. Due to a family emergency i ended up leaving earlier than planned to go home but i was relieved in a way as the room was too hot to rest in. Maybe a better stay would have been in normal weather.

Absolutely everything it’s my favourite place to come it’s peaceful and quiet. I love all of the staff the food is amazing I will definitely be back again.. the restaurant staff are amazing and the waiters so polite and kind they can’t do enough for you ❤️ to the man at the restaurant desk who comes over to serve you and the beautiful kind waitress .. my children absolutely had a great time.. ohh the staff in the leisure centre are also fantastic the man who works on the desk he’s a star really lovely and chatty he’s a ⭐ and the lovely lady with the blond hair honestly you are all amazing and will definitely return ohh and the chef 👨‍🍳 is amazing also love you fantastic food

The property and facilities were great. It was 530 am when the person above went to the loo and was walking around there room. The noise from flushing the toilet was extremely loud in my room below and the noise of the floor ( cracking boards ) was bad. I’d stay again but not below people. The noise was real bad unfortunately. I stayed in the Trentham suite.

Horrendous hotel, don't book! Dirty towels left in room from previous guests. When told they gave us another dirty towel with holes. Staff gave me cleaning products to clean the dirty bath ourselves after they needed fix the bath. Room door handle and toilet flusher was hanging off. They were never fixed after flagging it and them advising it would be. Dirty shower mat left by the bathroom door too. Looked like it hadn't been clean in a long time. The assistant manager was especially rude, when raising things they looked like they weren't listening and kept trying to interrupt. Deposit never returned. They insisted we didn't pay the food bill to then find out later they decided to use the deposit to cover this bill without tell us. In the extreme heat, precautions to cool the room hadn't been implemented. No window was open, no curtains closed and no fan out and on. The heating was also left on in the bathroom! When we additionally told them in the morning about the heating, they said that they would get it all sorted for when we came back, to which it was not. The manager, Tom, at first was great. However, we stayed in this hotel in May and we still haven't got our refund back. They're refusing to give us a full refund and responses have slowed down, then completely stopped. When we email we just get excuses. But still doesn't change the fact that we stayed in the hotel in May and have had to wait for a response from him over 25 days ago. Shocking customer service, illegal practices in breach of Control of Substances Hazardous to Health Regulations 2002 (COSHH), Health and Safety at Work etc. Act 1974 and GDPR since we were signed up to a mailing list without our consent being given.

The hotel needs to invest in aircon. The small room I had was unbearable with the heat. To the point I had sweat beading from me. I had to go out of the hotel in the middle of the night to cool back down and purchase bottled waters from a shop.

We stayed for one night and had a mixed experience. On arrival, we were greeted by a lovely receptionist called Ash, who was very friendly and chatty. He told us about the history of the hotel and the surrounding area, which was a nice personal touch. The bartender was also welcoming, polite and sociable. Our room was in the older part of the building and featured a beautiful four poster bed, which added to the character of the hotel. One small inconvenience was that there were no plug sockets by the bedside, so we had to charge our phones across the room. This only became an issue in the morning when our alarms went off a few times and we had to get up to switch them off. The bathroom was pleasantly decorated, but there were a few maintenance issues. The toilet handle was loose and caked with what appeared to be grout, and the shower taps were grubby with visible mould. One of the hotel's biggest strengths is its interior, with its interesting décor, large mirrors, numerous pictures and fish tanks, all of which give it plenty of character. Unfortunately, we were disappointed with the grounds at the rear of the property. Although the seating area had attractive planting, there were old balloons still hanging, presumably from a wedding some weeks earlier. Beyond this, the grounds appeared neglected, with old garden furniture left to rot, overgrown trees and shrubs that needed pruning, and paint peeling from the walls. The front of the hotel also had faded plastic hanging baskets. It felt as though more attention had been given to decorating the interior than maintaining the exterior. When checking out, a member of staff was on the phone. We waited several minutes before she acknowledged us and simply held out her hand to take our room key. We felt she could have briefly placed the call on hold to greet us and thank us for staying. Her manner came across as unfriendly and unprofessional, which was disappointing after the excellent customer service we had received from Ash and the bartender. One other point worth mentioning was the lounge/bar area in the evening. A female guest came downstairs wearing a dressing gown and sprawled across the sofas, exposing far more than anyone else would have wanted to see. It made what should have been a comfortable, relaxing space feel quite awkward. While guests are free to be comfortable, we feel the hotel should have a dress code for public areas or, at the very least, politely ask guests to dress appropriately out of consideration for others,at that time of night. Overall, the hotel has plenty of charm and character, and the warm welcome from some members of staff made a positive impression. However, the maintenance of the grounds, some room upkeep, and the consistency of customer service at checkout would benefit from improvement.

I’ve stayed at this hotel on several occasions now, and it never disappoints. The hotel is exceptionally clean throughout, which is something that has consistently stood out to me on every visit. The staff are incredibly friendly, welcoming, and always happy to help, making each stay feel comfortable and enjoyable. There’s also a great selection of food available, catering to a variety of tastes. I’d especially recommend the Indian restaurant & the food is excellent, full of flavour, and definitely worth trying. Overall, this is a fantastic hotel with high standards, great service, and a welcoming atmosphere. I wouldn’t hesitate to stay here again and would happily recommend it to anyone looking for a relaxing and enjoyable stay.

Very convenient for Staffordshire Showground, away from the busier budget hotels. Pleasant staff, lovely garden room with super bathroom and very comfortable bed. Dining room ok but very hot this time! Food was Indian and English, which was fine. Good choice of breakfast.

The stairs!! You’re going up some, down some, then down, or up, some more, it’s a bit of a mystery tour sometimes!! The doors between the stairs and corridors don’t close gently, so they bang shut, can disturb you late nights or early mornings. A little difficult to fully understand the staff sometimes, especially if the dining room is busy. We had to wait nearly 45mins after ordering our meal for it to arrive and we were there early before anyone else was in. We asked twice how much longer it would be and were told it was coming. When it did, one dish was missing and it eventually arrived after some discussion that we hadn’t ordered it! And then it was very disappointing and not really what we expected. Otherwise the rest of the meal was fine.

It was a warm day (but not excessively so). The room was stiflingly hot with no aircon, just a fan. The corridors were even warmer with very little air. The windows to the room could only be opened around 10cm; without doubt the most uncomfortable stay I've had in a hotel. The room had one light which was 6 feet away from the desk, making working very difficult. I was also kep awake by raised voices well past midnight. May have been outside or other guests.

The radiator in the bathroom was fully on and had been 30 all day when reported the fault to be asked did you turn it on no I couldn’t turn it off that was the problem and I think at 61 I don’t need stupid questions

The staff were very friendly on arrival and explained everything well. Our room was lovely and we had everything we needed. We enjoyed the use of the swimming pool at night and the following morning. We went to the restaurant in the morning for our pre-booked breakfast to find everything we could think of was available. The staff were very nice and very efficient. We sat at a lovely window overlooking the gardens. What a treat. We will most definitely be back and have already recommended the hotel to family. Thank you for a truly delightful stay.

The outside of the back of the building is a little tired as is a few tiny things inside. The hotel is large and very well kept so these little things are negligible.
