Mercure Birmingham West Hotel

Room smelled fresh and was very clean.Reception and staff helpful. 12 noon checkout 👍 £10 parking a bit steep when you are staying. My blue badge got it free for me.

Club sandwich was expensive and the fries were dire. Lack of staff and as I have issues walking I couldn’t be bothered going to the bar. Menu was covered in sticky rings 🤢 Dining in the bar needs attention to detail. We decided not to have breakfast due to this!

I got a parking ticket for £100 , when I went a week earlier to change my booking , I even asked the receptionist if I should register , she said no as you will be charged on the night of your stay

My stay was very nice, I stayed here for 1 night and as a trans person, the staff were really friendly and accommodating. There were a few comments and sniggers from other guests but that is not the hotels fault. Overall a very pleasant stay

Pool area, changing rooms etc really rough and run down. Desperately needs makeover. Shower fixture in ceiling, rubbish when taking a shower, washing hair and rinsing down. Bar expensive. Standard room is quite small.

Awful location, not well signposted to find and in urban area which was constantly noisy and ridiculously busy - not our cup of tea at all. Couldn’t sleep for worry of our car safety. Breakfast and room service pizza very greasey, bedroom very small with no upgrade options.

Had to pay for parking which was really just unnecessary as they have plenty of room. Some rooms are quite far away from reception.

Great location just off J1 of M5. Ample parking. Great friendly staff especially Yvonne on Reception. Food in Restaurant was excellent.

Parking charge £10 per 24hrs. Strange noise like a generator kicking in and off all night. Pool not open when we stayed 9th-10th September 2026.

Everything was very good at the Hotel apart from the breakfast, which was poor in quality and quantity.

Breakfast was suppose to be continental, it was not. I will say it was poor breakfast.

Friendly staff at check in which was straight forward with no issues. Just remember to put your registration plate into the system as they don’t always tell you.

The sauna wasn’t working which I wasn’t told about.

Gute Lage zum Stadion der West Bromwich Albions (15 Minuten). Check in war unkompliziert und das Preis Leistungsverhältnis hat für uns gut gepasst.

Die Zimmerausstattung ist etwas in die Jahre gekommen und an einigen Stellen, insbesondere im Bad waren auch Risse in der Keramik. Dafür war die Unterkunft aber auch preislich in Ordnung.

Everything in the room was ok except the bathroom.

The chipped bath tub. That bath needs to be repaired or replaced. It had disgusting black chips in the enamel of the bath. I was charged £10 for overnight parking which I thought was a greedy and disgusting way of extorting additional money out of guests.

Getting to my room with my bags was a bit too hard through very steep steps. Perhaps some help from staff to carry customers bags to and from the caring reception would alleviate the problem.

As my recommendation above that staff should assist customers their bags from the car especially the entrance steps are very steepy and dangerous. Yes you have elevator but you still have to through another set of steepy steps to get to rooms like 133 - 148. I struggled very much getting to my room after check in and going to reception for checking out.

The fact it had a swimming pool and leisure facilities.

I disliked the step up shower, never seen this anywhere before, my poor hubby almost knocked himself out on the pole which is directly above the enclosure, they ran out of mushrooms, our room was very small, staff seemed off, will not be visiting again.

Location isn't great and paying £10 parking a night is a joke and the hotel walls are paper thin so expect alot of noise

Food excellent Staff excellent and extremely helpful especially Gerry and the lady working wed evening Thursday and Friday am. Rooms comfortable.

Bathroom very small . Great difficulty getting in and out of shower/bath. Very small opening and you cant move shower screen. The shower should have been placed on opposite wall so that the shower screen could be moved. I actually have bruised my leg getting in and out.

Air conditioning not working. Staff reluctant to engage in conversation about it.

We arrived 10 minutes to 3 pm to check in and were made to wait as room wasn't ready. After checking in at 1505, the side table was dirty and the coffee cup had lipstick stains from previous guests I guess.. I asked the cleaning lady but she didn't understand what I was asking...

Great location easy to get to

Guy at reception seemed uninterested in helping seemed like he didn’t want to be there. Rooms were average, few staines on the carpet, cracked sink, air con wasn’t working room got really hot and uncomfortable. The premier inn a few mins away is a lot better and more welcoming

Staff were really friendly Decent food and drink at restaurant, although we sat on bar as restaurant was booked for a couple of coaches of people who had come in. Bed was comfortable and room was a decent size Good location as we were attending the athletics

The pool is small after a few people were in there pretty full. Needed a lot of TLC and cleaning

For a single the room was a decent size. Nice terrace outside the front doors for a drink or taxi waiting there was a fault with the air con which was explained to me and another room offered if I wanted. I chose not to.

As above with sitcom. But not really a problem. On my last 2 mornings, out if 3 , the shower didn’t run above like warm. I mentioned this to reception on checking out. I found the hotel very difficult to find and poorly signposted.

Food, I was a bit disappointed with the food on offer at the evening meal, didn’t think there was a great choice and the spaghetti bolognaise was actually pasta! Not ideal when a 4 year old specifically wanted spaghetti! Was advised it was pre packed so nothing could be altered at the property, basically sounds like pre packed meals that are just heat up at the property which is poor.

Stayed there for 4 nights on a coach holiday with Alfa. Great location.Food was amazing.Loved the way that they served us 1st course then main meal and dessert we helped ourselves.A special mention to Darren one of the chefs and all members of the restaurant team for the wonderful food .Very well organised.Only drawback was we were on the 3rd floor and the air conditioning had broken and it was the hottest time .Temp reaching 38c but we did have a fan.Wiuld definitely recommend hotel

Had a really great stay at Mercure Birmingham West. This was my second stay at this hotel and my stay was just as good as the first. The hotel was clean, comfortable and well presented, and the staff really help make the stay such a positive experience. I’d particularly like to mention a few members of the team who stood out. Evisa, who works the evening restaurant shift, was absolutely lovely and always make me feel very welcome. Marcus and Kelly on the breakfast team were also fantastic, friendly and attentive every morning. Mandy in the health spa was equally welcoming and helpful. It’s the staff who can really make a hotel stay memorable, and these four certainly did that. Everyone we encountered was friendly and professional, and nothing felt like too much trouble. Overall, a great stay and somewhere I’d happily return to. Highly recommended.

Clean

We called to see if we could check in early and the lovely lady told us to come now and she would see what she could do. When we got to the hotel luckily we were greeted by the amazing Gerry who instantly checked us in and we were in our room at 12.30pm which was amazing as we had to go straight to an event and didn’t have time to wait until 3pm and didn’t want to leave our bags in the car. Gerry was so wonderful, friendly, smiley, helpful and so great! We were so lucky Gerry was on reception that day and the hotel are super lucky to have someone so wonderful on the front desk 😊

Breakfast wasn’t great. Mushrooms were horrid and everything was very bland. Oil in the hazelnut spread machine.

Yvonne in reception great, calm, knowledgable. Unfortunately for 75% of the hotel rooms the air conditioning wasn’t working. Maybe someone managed to change rooms before me, shame they didn’t flush the toilet before they left - not a great welcome to the room!

Hotel in an ideal location, close to the motorway and the iconic Hawthorns stadium. Rooms are clean , well maintained and good size for the £ The staff are incredibly friendly and helpful - nothing too much trouble especially Yvonne on reception who managed to sort me having added on an extra night to an original booking

Location away from main road so fairly quiet. Lovely reception staff who bent over backwards to facilitate our needs. Wish I could remember their names but lady name began with M but not an English name 😁

The property itself was fine. The main issue was that the room wasn’t properly cleaned on arrival as you could see dirt along the skirting and a few spots on the bed linen. When cleaners came in the next day, did not remove dirty glasses used from the night before

Not sure if this was in other rooms? the lovely shower had about a foot step up into the shower & no grab rail, as a 70 yr old with a child it certainly is a risk. I am very agile and was very careful so not a problem. A simple grab rail would make a big difference & save preventable accidents, just a thought, the room was 115

Decor of room.

Design limited for your personal belongings. Poor lighting in the room. Dwarf ironing board is not brilliant. Place to hand clothes bazaar, as condiments below. Hot water variable hot temperature. Difficult to regulate. Staff should ask if you have blue badge. Too quick to charge you extra money!

Dog friendly hotel (not in the restaurant). The staff were really friendly and attentive.

Rooms were tired, bed uncomfortable. Carpet needed vacuuming, outdoor area covered with cigarette butts.

The receptionist chubby guy. He kept staring at me with suspicious looks. When I went out for ciggies, he made me very uncomfortable, and I was very annoyed. I felt very uncomfortable because of this individual

The room was good with everything we needed. Clean and comfortable. The Staff were very pleasant and helpful. Plenty of parking space for the car.

Breakfast wasn't great, greasy sausages, watery scrambled eggs and not much left. Not worth £12. The bar closed at 11.00 pm which we thought was a little early but we were able to get drinks later by asking at Reception.

It was very clean and had lots to do in the hotel such as swimming, pool, a bar, a lounge area, it had space for parking too, the room was very clean! The bed was so comfy

It’s quite a drive to the centre but that can’t be helped, everything else makes up for it!

The lamp in the bedroom wasn’t working there was 3 of them, the breakfast was absolutely disgusting couldn’t even eat it, cracks in the bathroom sink tv wouldn’t let us watch Netflix they didn’t state that the swimming pool and spa shut at a certain time so we got to go in swimming pool this morning the water was meant to be hot in the pool and hot tub but it was freezing the sauna was out of order and we wasn’t made aware we had to pay £10 parking until we arrived

Facilities. Gym and pool were good as was the breakfast. The room was clean and tidy but sadly the Air con stopped working on the second day.

I felt the charge for parking was daylight robbery. I can't understand why that isn't included in the price. It's false advertising showing the price on booking.com and then adding £10 per night on top. I also felt the same with the charge for our dog was extortionate. Marriot hotels provided a dog bed, bowl and treat for £10. You charged £15 per night for nothing. unnecessary profiteering..
