The staff is friendly, helpful and welcoming. The building and grounds are well maintained and absolutely beautiful. Dinner was delicious and the drinks were on point. Overall it was a perfect stay for us!
A beautifully restored Manor house with beautiful rooms, elegant, common spaces, superb food, and incredible staff.. Very special thanks to David for his hospitality. Beautiful view of the water and town from their patio and a bar. Five stars in every way.
Nothing
Beautiful Hotel & grounds, the food in the restaurant was excellent & the staff very helpful
Our room on the 2nd floor, it was very warm, the window would not stay open, there was no dressing table or mirror to use when drying hair & nowhere to put toiletries in the bathroom, I would say it was more suited for a single gentleman
Beautiful building set in a stunning location, amazing entrance and gardens staff were fantastic. View from room was lovely too.
Rooms very tired ,stained carpets , marks all over the walls, shower was very underpowered!
Fint slott
Nice traditional building, lots of character.

The location & The Building & Staff were excellent
The room was very compact & had some cobwebs in bedroom wall & corners of shower room. The TV did not work & Extractor fan did not work in bathroom . No plugs near a mirror to dry hair or nowhere to hang coats. Breakfast was kept warm not served fresh which affected the experience of breakfast.
On s'y sent vraiment bien.
The position, the kindness of the staff particularly on reception.
A problem with our booking, which hotel said was booking.com fault. It was recified but at an extra cost. Lack of any information in the bedroom about hotel or surrounding area etc. No directions to get around corridors, no sign on dining room door No map to aid walk around the grounds. Just seemed to lack finesse for an up market hotel Felt the dinner menu was a bit limited for such an up market hotel eg no special of the day, no light desert like sorbet or ice cream. No tablet or shortbread with tea or coffee after dinner.
Wonderful building and rooms We stayed in Mary Queen of Scots Suite - it was beautiful. Great location and grounds and staff very friendly and welcoming.
The property is lovely and situated in great proximity to Edinburgh park and ride.
We booked a standard room and it was very small and decor outdated.
Breakfast was fantastic, staff very helpful. Room was lovely and the grounds were stunning.
Although very friendly service at Breakfast the buffet was sometimes slow to get restocked
Excellent place. Very quiet, far from traffic. The staff was very polite and ready to help at any time. The building itself is like a museum. You can find old organ, piano in the music room and old books in the library. You can get a nice drink at the bar and enjoy it in any of these great rooms or in the beautiful park.
This is definitely a place worth another visit.
Castello
Parti comuni storiche e affascinanti ma sporche e lasciate andare
Was ein Hotel, was ein Park. Einfach umwerfend.
The common areas were lovely, furnished with antique furniture. The property overall was charming, and the gardens were vast and beautiful.
The room we were given on the first night was very small and not particularly clean, with insects present because the window had apparently been left open. The spring mattress was old and uncomfortable, and kept sliding off the base. The hairdryer was stored on the floor of the closet. The next morning we noticed a stain, likely mold, under the mattress, and asked to change rooms. The new room was slightly bigger and had clean sheets, but it still wasn't well maintained — for example, the hairdryer was partly melted. Overall, the rooms don't live up to a 4-star standard or the price paid.
The staff are very nice and of course it's a converted castle. The value for money wasn't good because prices sky rocket with the events in Edinburgh. We were there for the tattoo, considering we payed £300 + and it was a buffet style breakfast didn't go down to well, also we had a meal in the restaurant, again over priced, £7 for bread and butter and a olive oil dip. My fish and chips wasn't great but my son enjoyed his burger.
The staff.
Mooie publieke ruimtes
Standardzimmer klein. Die Suiten deutlich größer bei moderaten Aufpreis.
Needs a bit of TLC but clean and efficient.
Room a tad dated but it is a historic building so to be expected.
The castle is really beautiful with beautiful surroundings and garden. However the room was incredibly small and with a very small window. Being right under the roof it was hot and i felt air was missing. Considering the price wasn't cheap and the rooms advertised on the pictures are huge, i would have exptected something really different. The staff is kind and the breakfast os good
Lovely gardens, comfy bed
The house is beautiful with all its original artefacts and rooms. The staff were helpful and pleasant. It is a place where one can really relax. There was also ample car parking close to the Hotel.
I am afraid that the two breakfasts we had were rather disappointing. I ordered the porridge which was fine and plentiful. However, the cooked food, which we did not take, was greasy and did not look at all appetising. Moreover, apart from the small croissants, none of the other non-cooked items, such as the yoghurts and bowls of strawberries etc. was renewed. We came down to breakfast at 9.00a.m. both mornings, which was not near the closing time for breakfast, and the situation was the same each morning so there was no excuse for not renewing the aforesaid, unless it was budgetary ! The price of dinner was extortionate so we ate in Musselburgh both evenings.
Struttura meravigliosa.
The executive room for which we paid £300 was no better than an attic room with 2 very small beds pushed togethet. Tye walls need paint repairs . Very over priced stay.
There was no air conditioning, which made the room a little warm during the sunny days

Beautiful old building with character
Very cold room mostly clean but our bathroom was pleasant with the stains
Beautiful place, stunning gardens
The setting, gardens and grounds are stunning and were by far the highlight of the hotel. The property is very picturesque, and I stayed during a hot, sunny week which made it look even better. It was peaceful, quiet and an enjoyable place to spend time outdoors. The parking facilities were also excellent and the WiFi worked well. The staff member who checked me in and out was very friendly, welcoming and helpful, as was another member of staff on the night reception desk. The room was clean and tidy, the bathroom was modern, and the shower worked well. Having a fan in the room was particularly appreciated given the hot weather and the fact that my room was on the third floor.
My room was nice enough, but only had ceiling windows (attic-type room), so there was no view whatsoever (unless pigeons and crows count). Not exactly what I would expect from an "Executive Room". Honestly, this felt misleading based on the booking/website photos, which show full windows with views of the grounds. For the price, the small things irritated me most: one slim bottle of water for the whole stay, which was already warm when I arrived due to the heat; no room cleaning service unless specifically requested; no fridge, making it difficult to keep anything cool; very limited coffee pods, milk and cups; two single beds pushed together, which is uncomfortable to sleep on; and only a couple of tissues left in the box. Overall, everything felt very minimal. It is an impressive historic building, no doubt, but much of it looks pretty tired. And not just "shabby chic" – there were scuff marks on the walls, old chipped furniture, dusty plates and glasses, and windows that were difficult to open, with handles that felt in danger of breaking. I also couldn't fully close the bathroom window. I eventually gave up on the restaurant. It took around five minutes before anyone came to seat me despite having a reservation. The waiter then disappeared and didn't even take a drinks order, despite the restaurant being almost empty, so I left after waiting nearly 20 minutes. Overall, I was quite disappointed for a supposed four-star hotel and would not consider it luxury. Aside from the two helpful staff members I mentioned, the other front desk staff were not especially welcoming or friendly. I did not feel the experience justified the premium price. It is a shame, as the property has a lot of potential, but in my view it needs significant upgrading.
Second time we stayed here, it was a beautiful hotel and location. The train to Edinburgh Waverly is close by (4 miles). The bed is very good, the bathroom very spacious.
I loved everything, beautiful estate, wonderful staff
The room, staff and drinks were great! The grounds and everything surrounding was immaculate as well. We had a great time visiting and enjoyed the quiet and peace of Carberry.
The restaurant was a bit disappointing. I understand there was supply issues affecting two big menu items which I was very interested in trying so that was too bad. Food in general was slightly above average as well. Serving staff and atmosphere is very homely and good experience.
friendly staff, great food and perfect ;ocation

Niets in het bijzonder
Great setting. Good selection at breakfast and waitress very friendly and welcoming. Good service at check in. Although the bedroom was small it was very comfortable and clean with all the expected amenities.
The tagliatelle at dinner was a bit bland but nicely presented.
Carberry tower is such a beautiful place the staff are so friendly and available for any questions we had been upgraded to an executive room which was beautiful. The view was outstanding.
We liked everything
The house and grounds are wonderful. Love the trails throughout the property.
The size of the room and bathroom for the price. The music at dinner was not what I would choose for the environment.
Location
£50 charge on top , they kept it as deposit for two weeks after visit
Amazing experience highly recommend.
The location was great. Lots of running and walking routes.
The staff were rude and the room was so small we couldn’t open our cases.
The hotel has a beautiful interior and a stunning estate
We didn't enjoy our dinner at the restaurant and the breakfast was not the best too. Very small bedroom.
Absolutely amazing! The views and the rooms were amazing. The garden was lovely to walk through
Nothing it was amazing
It was a beautiful stay, the house is amazing and the staff were very helpful and lovely.
Wonderful staff, very friendly. Beautiful property and very spacious.
Prachtig hotel en zeer vriendelijk personeel. Goed eten
Carberry Tower is a beautiful mansion house. The drive way is lovely as are the corridors with the old stone floors. The bed was very comfortable and the place was clean.
I booked a classic double room which was tiny with a coomb ceiling. I’m glad i was in it on my own as it would have been uncomfortable for two. It was badly in need of decoration with a stained carpet and marks on the wall. Overall, i think it was a bit over-priced (£183 inc breakfast) for what i got.
Mooi, oud landhuis. De ligging is erg mooi.

Wonderful original building, full of character and charm backed up by lovely staff and excellent foof and beverage. This hotel is an hidden gem and perfect for visiting the area and very close to the racecourse.

Absolutely beautiful mansion house full of history in a brilliant location! Beautiful restaurant, bar and the room we stayed in was incredibly beautiful! We also loved Lynn who gave us a wee tour of the house and looked after us! 100% recommend!
The price prevented us from staying any longer than one night :(
We had dinner in the hotel--everything was fine EXCEPT the background music which was awful--i complained at the time. it was more suitable for 18-25 year old--not your target market i assume .
AS ABOVE
Beautiful grounds and amazing historic building Staff very lovely, friendly and accommodating View from room was lovely very peaceful We didn't travel far but could've been a million miles away
The cost for the room for 1 night was a little excessive The restaurant choice for dinner wasn't great We could hear every conversation from the room next door to the bedroom Some areas were a bit dusty

Väldigt trevlig personal i restaurangen!
The room was stunning and spacious. Everything was so clean and comfortable. The breakfast was amazing - diverse range of pastries and yoghurts, plus a full Scottish Breakfast served fresh and hot from the kitchen (which we definately prefer to a buffet-style). The staff were friendly and helpful and overall the stay was extremely pleasant. Being permitted to leave my car on site for 3 additional nights (whilst I visited Ediburgh City for 3 night) was an extra bonus! Would definately stay again.
I booked and paid for a twin Executive suite through Booking.Com but on arrival we were told we had been assigned a Queen. I was travelling with a friend, not my husband (hence the twin selection). It was a little disappointing given the cost of the room, but we had driven for 8 hours and had arrived quite late, so we had to accept the mix up. Additionally, we found it difficult to locate staff at times (in Reception, Kitchen and the Tea Room) but the Hotel wasnt busy when we visited, so they were probably short-staffed.
Everything. Beautiful hotel
It's ruined all other hotels and showers for us
Restaurant, food was very high quality.
Size of the Room, small for the price we paid.
Beautiful setting with the best staff, all so friendly and helpful. We really enjoyed our stay for a day out at Musselburgh Races. Food was lovely too. Would defo come back.
Stayed in a double room which was a bit tight (315)Bathroom shower door was coming apart and did see some hairs in shower before we used it. There was no curtains in the bedroom only a blind so wasnt quite dark enough for me. Early wake up with sun rise.
They were no atmosphere about and they were not much people sitting in the var and it closed very early x
Teppichboden ziemlich schmutzig, viel Schimmel in der Dusche
Beautiful location. Room exceeded expectations...Royal Suite. Staff all polite and friendly, they all seemed to love there job. Felt like home as soon as we arrived. It was refreshing to feel a warm hug feeling as soon as you arrived rather than a corporate coldness. Highly appreciated
Not a major issue as on relaxing few days away however service in dining room was a bit slow. Luckily screaming baby left after a short while. Not hotels fault.
Beautiful surroundings, lovely accommodation, excellent food
There was nothing not to like
Great place staff could not do enough for you Loved ever min of the say got to go back again soon
Nothing
Staff helpful, food & accommodation good.
The room was wonderful. The hotel is a 15-16th c castle. It is fully updated and is beautiful and comfortable inside. And a lot of fun as a place to stay. I am a history buff so it was a lot of fun to explore the castle and see the old architectural features. In addition, The staff were excellent, especially our hostess Rachel at the front desk and our waiter for dinner. Rachel was arm and welcoming and showed us to our room. And our waiter had the best tips on what to eat from the menu. Thirdly, we found the "Drawing Room" and Library to be very comfortable retreats to catch up on our correspondence. Last, but not least, our breakfast was wonderful.
The weather! Although the castle was a great place to retreat and get warm...

What a piece of paradise in the Scottish countryside - the Castle was amazing with many opportunities to explore the large number of common areas (the vast Library was my Wife’s home!) The breakfast was a great start each morning - made the travels to Edinburgh and Stirling on two of the days more fulfilling.
Just a suggestion - would have liked to have heard a bit more about the history of the Castle! Would have added to the experience.
Staff amazing everytime i have visited, super friendly and amazing local knowledge

The place was absolutely stunning. The staff all couldn't have helped anymore. 100% recommended and we will definitely be back
We love coming to this spectacular place. Top score for genuine castle vibes!
