The size of the room, large pool, friendly and helpful staff, a good breakfast, and beautiful interior and decoration in the lobby.

The hotel is marketed as a 4-star spa hotel, but there is no real spa—only a pool and sauna, with no massages or treatments. At CAD 390/night including breakfast, I found it overpriced. The room itself has a rather plain, basic design. The bathroom only provides a combined hair-and-body wash instead of separate shampoo and conditioner. Dinner is either a €35 buffet or à la carte at the bar, where the dishes also felt overpriced.

Disfrutamos de las instalaciones modernas y acogedoras. Las vistas son sobrecogedoras, no hay palabras que puedan definir la belleza del paisaje natural. Especial mención a todo el personal que proporciona un servicio excepcional, y hacen que la estancia sea inmejorable. Creo que las imágenes del hotel no hacen justicia a la realidad. Simplemente, es mil veces más espectacular en persona. Si volvemos a visitar Azores no dudaría en quedarme otra vez aquí.

Similar to other comments breakfast buffet was not commensurate with the 4-Star hotel rating. We ate the snack bar—food was good although expensive.

We loved our stay at the hotel. The view from the rooms, restaurant and pool are just amazing. The room was nice with a nice balcony to chill and watch the sunset.

The only thing that can be improved is the food. The breakfast was okish but for a 4- star hotel it can be improved as well as the dinner.

Die außergewöhnliche Lage des Hotels, die wunderschöne Gartenanlage und der tolle Blick sorgten für ein wunderbares Urlaubsgefühl. Das Personal war durchweg sehr freundlich und das Zimmer war sehr sauber.

Das Preis-Leistungsverhältnis in der Snack-Bar. Für diese Preise kann man Besseres erwarten. Das Frühstück ist relativ eintönig, da ist noch Luft nach oben.

Das beste Hotel, in dem wir je gewesen sind. Natürlich ist nicht alles perfekt, aber wir haben uns noch nie in einem Resort so wohlgefühlt.. Die Mitarbeiter waren professionell und so nett. Wir verstehen die Kritik an dem Frühstück gar nicht, es ist reichhaltig und gut. Die Lage ist außergewöhnlich und der Blick auf das Meer einfach traumhaft. Bitte ein besonderes Lob an das gesamte Personal ausrichten. Wir kommen definitiv bald wieder :).

The Caloura Hotel Resort has one of the most beautiful locations in São Miguel. The setting is, without a doubt, one of the most gorgeous spots on the island, and this remains the hotel’s biggest asset. We have been customers for many years, specifically for this reason. The staff were also a positive point, particularly the employees who have been working at the hotel for many years, like Emanuel and others. They were friendly, professional and clearly committed to providing good service despite the shortcomings of the property itself.

Since the hotel was purchased by the Bensaude group, the prices have increased significantly, but the hotel’s amenities and overall quality have not improved accordingly…in some areas, they have actually become worse. The price now suggests a much higher level of quality than what is being delivered. The breakfast was disappointing in terms of variety and did not feel appropriate for the price of the hotel. The mattresses in our room were extremely old and uncomfortable, sinking noticeably under our body weight. The room itself also showed signs of age and lack of maintenance: there was humidity on the walls, cracking paint, and the bathroom mirror was so old that the edges had become dark. Lack of outlets by the beds. There were no curtains other than the blackout curtains, meaning that if you wanted some privacy while still having natural daylight in the room, you had no option but to use artificial lighting. Basic bathroom amenities were not provided. The hairdryer was extremely old, and even the diffuser attachment was partially melted and could not stay properly attached. Several of the sun loungers were broken, other looked dirty and old, there weren’t enough small tables next to the loungers, and most of the sun umbrellas were visibly old, with strings hanging from them. There was also no option to exchange pool towels. Even the bathrobe provided in our room was dirty. None of these issues on their own would necessarily ruin a stay, but when you add them all together, they give the impression that the hotel is not being adequately maintained or updated. The location is spectacular and the long-standing staff are excellent, but a beautiful location cannot justify continuously increasing prices when the quality and condition of the hotel do not keep up!

Exceptionally friendly and helpful front desk. Alfonso Costa, especially, was cheerful, informative, and by far the best. Food at the snack bar was good.

Breakfast was a bit boring - basically the same every morning.

The view is amazing. All the rooms seem to have sea view, the staff is very friendly, is excellent that they offer towels for the beach and also they change them if needed.

Piękny ogród, duży parking, fantastyczny basen, wspaniałe widoki.

Monotonne śniadania, pokoje słabo wyciszone, wszystko słychać z korytarza a zwłaszcza hałas robiony przez panie sprzątające - od rana odkurzanie, stukanie butelkami, tak więc raczej się tu nie wyśpisz. Bardzo podstawowe kosmetyki - tylko mydło do rąk i żel pod prysznic z szamponem w jednym. Brak balsamu do ciała i vanity kit.

Lovely hotel located by the sea. The view from the breakfast area is unbelievable! The room was spacious and clean, very comfortable beds. The breakfasts were absolutely serviceable, nothing breathtaking, but tasty and fresh. I'd add some more variety of fresh fruit. The staff was always attentive and helpful. The hotel has a huge parking area, with complementary space for every guest (which is quite important on Sao Miguel).

My only gripe would be the prices at the restaurant, quite steep compared to other restaurants nearby. I know it's a lazy tax, but still, they could be slightly lower.

It was a beautiful location, great pool, very friendly helpful personnel, breakfast was good, bed was comfortable, view from the room was spectacular, room was always well cleaned.

The rooms were fine but did not feel like 4 star hotel, the smell in the common areas was too extreme and smelled like aftershave.

L'hôtel est très propre, ça sent bon! Le personnel était très courtois. Nous avions une chambre à 3 lits, ce qui était parfait pour moi et mes 2 enfants jeunes adultes. Le paysage était magnifique. Il y a un petit sentier qui mène à l'eau qui est bondé de fleurs, c’est trés beau. L'accès a la plage est facile. Mon gars de 21 ans a aimé aller prendre un verre au petit bar extérieur. Un très bel endroit!

Le réfrigérateur n'était pas froid. Il faut demander au bar pour avoir de la glace (donc dans les heures d'ouverture seulement). Les déjeuners étaient ordinaires.

Das Hotel ist traumhaft gelegen, das Personal an der Rezeption überaus liebenswürdig. Auch das Frühstück ist gut. Am Pool gibt es lobenswerterweise kein nerviges Musikgedudel. Insgesamt ein Ort, an dem man sich sehr wohlfühlen kann.

Wir hatten für sieben Tage ein Doppelzimmer gebucht und vorab komplett bezahlen müssen. Wegen einer mehrtägigen Flughafensperrung in Ponta Delgada und eines Streiks kamen wir aber (unverschuldet) nicht zum Hotel und konnten letztlich nur zwei Nächte dort verbringen. Da auch in Ponta Delgada Tausende von Touristen festsaßen und händeringend Übernachtungsmöglichkeiten suchten, dürfte es für das Hotel kein Problem gewesen sein, unser leer stehendes Zimmer anderweit zu vergeben (um was ich frühzeitig per Mail gebeten hatte). Leider hat das Hotel nun auf meine Anfrage wegen einer Teilerstattung oder eines Vouchers nicht reagiert. Auch eine diesbezügliche Anfrage des von mir eingeschalteten Booking-Customer Service an das Hotel blieb bisher ohne jede Reaktion. Dieses Verhalten des Managements überschattet leider den positiven Eindruck vom Hotel an sich. Kundenorientierung geht anders!

Großes aber schönes Hotel in traumhafter Lage. Saubere schöne Zimmer mit Meerblick. Gutes Frühstücksbuffet, Abendessen nicht probiert. Schönes Pool, verwunschener Garten Richtung Meer… Jederzeit wieder, auch gute Lage zum Erkunden von Sao Miguel.

Der Blick aus unserem Zimmer/Balkon war klasse, traumhaft. Die Anlage, kleiner Botanischer Garten zum Meer hinuntet ist toll.

Es hat geregnet und die ganze Nacht ist das Wasser vom Stockwerk über uns sehr laut auf unseren Balkon geleitet "getropft". Das war sehr laut. Das Frühstück ist ausbaufähig Viele unterschiedliche Sender, kein deutschsprachiger.

A fantastic hotel that far exceeded our expectations. Beautifully situated on a cliff overlooking the ocean, surrounded by a stunning and immaculately maintained garden in the charming little village of Caloura. A great base for exploring every corner of the island. As soon as you step inside the hotel, you’re greeted by the lovely and very helpful reception staff, along with a pleasant scent wafting through the lobby and all the corridors. At our request, we were given a different room, one that met our expectations in terms of location and the view from the balcony. Thanks to this, we were able to enjoy a stunning view of the ocean every day. Every room has a balcony where you can relax. The views from the balcony vary depending on the location and floor; the higher up you are, the better the view. Our room was very spacious with a huge and comfortable 200x200 cm bed, as well as an additional chaise longue and a workspace. The light décor and pastel colours create a pleasant, relaxing atmosphere. The room also comes with bathrobes and slippers. There is a spacious bathroom, which also features a bidet. It is spotlessly clean. The hotel staff clean the rooms daily and replace the towels with fresh ones. The WiFi works very well. The hotel also has a large swimming pool deep enough for comfortable swimming, relaxation areas in the garden and a bar. Right next to the hotel there are also natural rock pools, and a short walk away is a beach with volcanic sand. The hotel also has plenty of free parking spaces. There are several really good restaurants in the village and within a few minutes’ drive.

The only thing we would suggest improving is the quality of the breakfasts. For a hotel of this standard, they could be a little better and offer more variety in terms of local produce, such as cheeses (for which the island is famous), more fruit, cold meats, or local sweet treats. Unfortunately, it often happened that hot dishes were served cold, and after 9 am some dishes were no longer available or there were only leftovers, which sometimes didn’t look very appetising. For a longer stay (we spent 9 nights at the hotel), this matters. I would also suggest an additional coffee machine. With such a large number of tables and guests in the restaurant, one is really not enough. Furthermore, condiments such as ketchup, mayonnaise and mustard should be freely available.

There were amazing views everywhere! The rooms were spotless and absolutely pristine including the bathrooms. Great staff and great service at the front desk and the snack bar. Wonderful fragrance inside the hotel.

Alles is echt verouderd met soms ook beschadigde en zeer povere items. Versleten matras met een put. Echt niet comfortabel. Ook geen comfortabele kussens. Veel basic producten: toiletgerief, handdoeken, ligstoelen, parasols... Geen 4 sterren vibe. Basis ontbijtbuffet. Oké maar niets bijzonder. Je moet door de fitness om in en uit de sauna te gaan. Wat vreemd als je tussendoor naar het zwembad wenst. Restaurant is duur in vergelijking met betere restaurants in de regio.

Traumhafte Lage. Grosse Zimmer mit Traumaussicht. Grosser Gratisparkplatz. Grösstenteils sehr freundliches Personal.

Viel zu kalt im Restaurant und Frühstücksraum. Zuwenig Steckdosen im Zimmer. Altes Badezimmer mit Badewanne und minderwertigen Handtücher.

We absolutely loved our stay and are really happy we chose this hotel. The room comes with pool towels, bathrobes, and coffee and tea. The rooms also offer beautiful sea views. The breakfast is excellent – everything is fresh, and the staff continuously clears the tables and refills everything. Everything was perfectly clean. There is also the option to order dinner to your room at very good prices. We truly enjoyed our stay – it’s clear the hotel is well taken care of, everything smells nice and feels fresh. We will definitely come back. On the last day, we had fresh fruit in our room along with a thank-you note 💙

Hotel bol vynikajúci po každej stránke. Na raňajkách síce nebol veľký výber, ale jedlá boli pripravené naozaj veľmi chutne a na každé raňajky som sa tešil. Chcem vyzdvihnúť najmä personál recepcie, ktorý bol neuveriteľne milý a nápomocný, po niekoľkonásobnom preložení nášho letu promptne reagovali na našu prosbu o ubytovanie a napriek nedostupnosti izieb nám pomohli a my sme vďaka tomu mohli toto nečakané predĺženie dovolenky prežiť v komforte. Všetci boli priateľskí a milí. Komunikácia bola na skvelej úrovni, takisto ochota a celkovo dojem. Keby môžem dám im hodnotenie 11/10.

Jedinú vec, ktorú by som možno zmenil, je širší výber jedál na raňajkách, ale to by bol len bonus. Aktuálna ponuka je postačujúca na to, aby sa každý dobre a chutne najedol.

Beautiful hotel with beautiful views! The staff were always very polite and helpful. Everything was clean. Breakfast was good, especially considering it was included in our rate. There is also filtered water available by the front desk to fill bottles, which is really nice. The pool seemed nice, but it was too cold in May so we didn't swim in it. The grounds are truly immaculate and you really can't beat the views.

We expected our room to have a double bed, but it was actually 2 twin beds pushed together. They weren't connected in any way and had their own sets of bedding. Not ideal for a married couple. The rooms do not have AC or heat year round. They have to switch the entire hotel to heat in the winter and AC in the summer. We went in May and they hadn't yet changed the system to AC. During the day, when we were in the room, we could keep our balcony door open to let in cool air, but didn't want to do that at night for security reasons, especially on the first floor. So it was a little too warm in our room at night. The shower in our bathroom was outdated (a tub with a curtain). Future hotel updates would benefit from walk in showers with a glass doors. The hotel has 1 buffet restaurant and 2 bars (with some food available to order), but only 1 bar is open in the summer and the other in the winter, so it really only ever has 1 bar. The food was good at the bar, but the wine and liquor selection was limited. We never tried the buffet for dinner. Lastly, for other guests to be aware, this hotel is secluded. That's why it's so beautiful, but you can't really walk anywhere if you want more food or drink options. Just be aware that you have to drive for more than what the hotel offers.

The staff was particularly helpful and pleasant. We had an amazing view from our room. Our room was really comfortable. The pool was lovely...a it chilly when we were there, but we still swam.

I wish there had been a hot tub available for guests.

Mooie kamer met prachtig uitzicht . Ook vanuit alle kanten van het hotel prachtige uitzichten. Mooi (koud) zwembad. Ruime goede parkeerplaatsen vlak voor en van het hotel.

Bed was behoorlijk zacht , hadden een tweepersoonsbed geboekt maar er waren geen tweepersoonsbedden kamers meer . Wel een topper gekregen bij na vraag aan de receptie. Ondanks de topper nog steeds erg zacht. Tot 22;00 uur prima eten/snacks bij de bar . Buffet in restaurant vonden we erg tegenvallen . Een stuk beter kan je eten bij A Casa do Abel in het dorpje verderop.Diverse zwembad ligbedden waren kapot.

Le seul défaut est peut être la salle de bain qui n'est pas au niveau du standing de l'hôtel, mais qui est vite gommé par tout le reste qui est fantastique.

Přesto že je hotel starší není to vůbec poznat. Sauna, posilovna, venkovní bazén, nádherná zahrada, překrásný výhled na oceán, velké pokoje.

Postel sice veliká ale má toho za sebou spoustu. Matrace fakt proleželá bylo to jako spát v Hamace 😂

Die Hotelanalage, es ist schön ruhig und man kann das Meer beobachten, ist direkt an einer kleinen Bucht und kann entspannen. Es gibt ein Restaurant und eine Snackbar. Man muss sich also nirgendwo hin bewegen und kann alles entspannt auch im Hotel genießen.

Wir haben ein Dreibettzimmer in der untersten Etage bekommen, dadurch hatten wir keinen optimalen Meerblick, was aber wahrscheinlich daran lag, das wir nur drei Nächte dort waren und die oberen Zimmer den längeren Gästen vorbehalten sind. Das Frühstück war in Ordnung.

Breakfast is very basic, even by hotel standards. Dinner buffet not worth it as there are plenty restaurants around. Mattress was horrible, all nights we had bad sleep, the worst in quite a few stays

Semble un peu figé dans les années 1990, Peu d’activité sur le site…un spa aurait été plus à jour versus les autres hôtels de cette catégorie.

Lokalita skvělá, výhledy hned za hotelem a dostanete se k nim příjemnou cestou. Krásné západy slunce a venkovní posezení u ohniště. Skvělé pokoje a přístup personálu. Výhledy z pokoje na oceán a skvělý úklid pokojů. Poloha hotelu.

Snídaně byly moc dobré, ale bylo by fajn, kdyby se trochu měnila. Chyběla zelenina a celý týden, tam bylo pouze rajče. Pečivo si ostatní hosté včetně mě rozřezávali příborovým nožem, ten tam také chyběl. Ale nebylo to nic, co by mohlo ovlivnit celkový pocit z ubytování. Určitě se vrátíme.

Magnifique vue sur la mer depuis notre chambre, qui était très spacieuse et avec un balcon aménagé. Le personnel de la réception était très sympathique. Accès à la mer privatif depuis l’hôtel, belle petite balade pour y accéder. Grand parking gratuit.

Le petit-déjeuner n’était pas terrible (assortiment répétitif et plutôt limité) et la salle de bain aurait pu être rafraîchie.

L’hôtel est très bien situé à 25 min de l’aéroport. Nous avons adoré l’accès privé à la falaise par un chemin féerique à ne pas manquer ! La vue sur l’océan des chambres et restaurant sont magnifiques ! Le personnel est très sympathique. Les chambres sont impeccables et les lits confortables. Nous avons apprécié la préparation d’un petit déjeuner à emporter car nous avions le check out très tôt ! Les plats du restaurant avec buffet sont variés et bons (32€ entrée plat dessert à volonté) .

Rien de très gênant car nous avons vraiment apprécié l’hôtel ! Quelques petits points d’amélioration : Nous regrettons que nos enfants (ados) aient été placés dans une chambre dans l’aile opposée malgré notre demande de chambres voisines plusieurs mois à l’avance . Il manque à notre goût , une deuxième table de nuit avec prises sur le coté du lit afin que chacun en ait une . Des bonnets de douche seraient les bienvenus car ll n’y a qu’un pomme de douche en plafonnier.

Pelo valor cobrado, a experiência deixou a desejar em vários pontos. O quarto não disponibilizava itens básicos como pasta de dente, cotonete, algodão, shampoo e condicionador. A academia tem horários muito limitados (das 8h às 20h), não tem vista e fica em uma sala fechada ao lado dos quartos, o que não condiz com um hotel localizado em um penhasco com uma vista tão bonita — seria esperado um espaço mais bem planejado, com vista e funcionamento 24h. Além disso, tanto na academia quanto na sauna não havia água disponível, o que é incomum. O café da manhã poderia ir até mais tarde (termina às 10h) e tinha pouca variedade. O room service também é bastante limitado, com poucas opções (por exemplo, não há algo simples como hambúrguer com batatas) e ainda cobram uma taxa de 5€ pela entrega no quarto, mesmo com preços já elevados. Informamos que era nossa lua de mel e não houve nenhum tipo de atenção ou gesto especial, o que foi decepcionante. No banheiro, o chuveiro apresentava problema — a mangueira estava solta e vazava água constantemente.

Très bel emplacement, au calme, en bord d'océan. Facile d'accès, presque central, toute l'ile est à portée ! Chambre assez spacieuse, bien insonorisée, disposant d'un petit balcon agréable. À taille humaine, ce n'est pas une usine à touriste.

Le buffet (petit déjeuner, déjeuner et diner) est cher pour des produits qui font industriels. Ce n'est pas mauvais, c'est tout à fait acceptable, mais on voit bien qu'il ne s'agit pas des produits du marché local ! À la rigueur, la carte du bar est moins cher, mieux achalandée et fait avec des meilleurs produits. Les restaurants en ville sont moins chers et plus intéressants.
