Good
Hotel ver old and run down. Carpet in room dirty and sticky
No aircon, no hot water, no gym, terrible breakfast, no lights in room! This place is a dump!
Location is good nearby subway statgon. Reserved room was big and equipped good. But the room is not so clean and very musty, so I need to open window for all day long. If the window was fixed, I cannot stay there. The building is old and not so clean. The breakfast was also not so attracive one. Instant fried noodle, steamed corn and potato, blockory, boild egg, bread and butter.
This is one of the worst stay of me! It’s not worthy it. It is a Four star hotel but it is no more than 2 star if let me rate it. The surrounding is bad, of a rebuilding situation. The gyms and swimming pool is not open. The equipment and facilities are too old, maybe 30 years old at least. I guess it is rated as 4 stars at 1980s! And I’m driving an EV, the total four charging stations are not working at all! No services, old facilities, fair rooms but also old, breakfast is fair but few choices. I think it just worth 200RMB for the most, including the breakfast, or I’ll pay 100RMB the most.

Was lodged there by China Southern during a lengthy flight stopover. I didn't expect much but overall was pretty happy with the place. The room was good. Firm comfortable bed, clean and well colled on a hot day. Nice bathroom. The breakfast was fine - some seriously nice Cantonese dishes. Coffee mediocre by that's a general problem when you're used to European espresso! The area is OK - market up the road and various shops and restaurants around. Tried the evening buffet and pleasantly surprised. Really nice. With guest discount a very reasonable 11 eur. Note that I am a big Cantonese food fan; if you're not then the food is not going to impress you much. Staff from checkin to restaurant pleasant, obliging, and honest - left a tip for the housekeeper and they phoned down to check if I'd made a mistake! It aint the Ritz and doesn't pretend to be. It's more than OK though. For the price, I recommend it.
Rude lady reception, good valet, good housekeeping lady. Worn out condition and lobby without enough seats even though spacious. Mentality of staffs need to be more guest orientated. Room provided without bed for 2 adults + 2 child’s and charged RMB 150 for a rollaway bed. Worst experience is the constant drilling / hacking of upper floors during our entire stay.... should not even rent out a room like this. Overall experience is very bad.
Got delayed was make me have experience stay in New Century Hotel. Have a big room, because of I got free stayed from airlines so for dinner I just got a dinner package (not buffet). Beside Hotel there are many market and I bought a Chinese tea for hand-gift. For foreign don't worry about the language, in receptionis they have people understood english
The rooms smelt a lot like cigarettes, and all of the technology was out of date. I even found blood on my sheet. Although the hotel rooms weren’t all that good, they had a clothes shop, a cafe and a buffet breakfast.
As a foreigner, this hotel made me very welcome, the check-in clerk was very quick and answered any questions I had, with regard to wifi, meal times and so on. I stayed in room 1122 Wow it was amazing, so bright and fresh a nice flat screen tv with a host of Tv channels (Tv Guide beside the bed) enough to keep anyone entertained. The Bathroom was probs one of the best I have seen with a choice of a Bathtub which had a shower above, but also it had a separate second shower which had plenty of room. The toilet was clean and fresh which also had a small night light fitted behind for those in need after dark. What a great selection of those little extras that one often forgets to pack just to help your stay to be more pleasurable. This hotel sure has remembered everything when it comes down to room comfort, easy controls for the aircon/heating, a strong wifi connection which was free also, and also catered for those of you who have a wired connection along with various connections ports to connect your device to the TV. Did I sleep well?? I sure did, the bed was ever so comfortable, with no noises heard from other guests. With having to get up early I was able to catch the Continental Buffet Breakfast which had an awesome selection of food and drinks. Would I stay here again?? YES YES YES Very Happy Customer, Thank YOU ever so much : @ )
I was flying to Perth, Australia, and had a 22 hour layover in Guangzhou. Someone mentioned I could stay at a hotel of my choosing for free (It would be paid by the airline). I chose the New Century Hotel, and was pleasantly surprised. I got a free up-grade upon check-in. The room was huge! I felt like it was only missing a stove and full fridge and it would be an apartment! The bathroom was large and clean, they provided me with a toothbrush, toothpaste, and a comb, which was good because I had stupidly packed all that in my checked luggage. The reason I gave it 4 stars and not 5 was the carpet was pretty filthy. It had been vacuumed and all. But it looked a little stained and worn. Also, there is very limited access to English speakers. And they speak very limited English. I'm not complaining about that, I do know that I was the foreigner there. I'm just pointing that out as something to consider for any potential travellers. I'm pretty sure the vast majority of Guangzhou is like that.
I think people may come here with unrealistic expectations. This is one of the nicer hotels in the area. Our room was clean and everything worked as it should. The breakfast buffet was decent. Of course the hotel could use some renovations and it's a bit dated but it's overall not a bad place to stay. It's within walking distance to a lot of parks, restaraunts, markets and trains. There is a lot of construction going on in the area. A big plus is this is a great spot to catch a bus back to Hong Kong airport. For $360 CHY or approximately $50 USD they bus you to the border and assist you in crossing the border going through customs and take you directly to Hong Kong airport. It was about a 3 hour trip but the convience is worth it.
Nice hotel. Inside elite suite is on par with Hilton. Lobby is nice but nothing special. 2nd stay here on business from USA. Staff is helpful but 1 in 10 speak english. Breakfast is eatable. Metro right outside. If you need to be in this area of GZ it is good option and a good value.
We flew from Bangkok to LAX on a Guangzhou-based airline (3rd Largest in the world.) We had a 9-hour layover for which the airline gave us our choice of 3 hotels: 2 5-star and a 4-star. We chose this one since it would allow us to see the city. It is located 30 min. from the new terminal and the trip was pleasant in an electric van. We were given a free transit visa-Thank you to whoever is responsible for that. Check-in was easy and the room was clean though a bit dated in materials and style. Everything in the two-room suite on the 19th floor is controlled by a clock on the bedside table: lights, TV (2 of them). AC, etc. Huge bathroom with tub. Kingsize bed. Location is a bit confusing for me as a westerner. On our side of the building were empty buildings which appeared to be awaiting demolition or something. Needless to say, we only slept an hour or so, walked through the neighborhood and visited some of the shops where the people were very friendly and helpful. A van returned us to the airport in time to make our flight. Altogether the stay didn't cost us a dime and we got a free tour of the city to boot.
theprices is right & the hotel is good, only contraction all around the hotel.
The hotel was out of water and the staff didn't inform the customers. The weather was very hot and humid. There was no water for shower.
Room was OK but the rest of the Hotel was tired and somewhat dirty. Also the advertised Shuttle Bus to the Airport, (important reason for booking in the first place) had been discontinued. Breakfast was good.
Slitet o lite ofräscht
the cover bed sheet has mosquitoes and towels were relatively old
Alles in allem ok!!
We have stayed in this hotel 8 years ago and they have done some upgrading in the room but same as many hotel in China, carpet look disgusting and filthy. The room is spacious and the bath tub is small and shallow giving a big washroom space. Check in and Check out was smooth. For the money they charged, we probably will look around for a newer hotel instead of going back again.
This is the first time back to this hotel for us since 6 years ago and although the town have changed quite abit but the hotel didn't seem to grow with the development except for the room rate. The staff is functioning as what they should perform as their job, the room is spacious but not really well kept. The carpet is dirty like most hotel in China but other than that, it is normal. For the money they are charging, you expect a little better. I don't think it is a hotel I will want to go back to and rather explore other newer hotel which is newer and more reasonable iin price for what you are getting.
We booked this last minute, as had to stay overnight in this area. The pros -Location is not bad for the airport -Bed was clean and ok The cons -Check-in was bas -Room was sub standard. Kind of rundown and looked really old -My shower did not work -Aircon was loud -They do not understand their customers, if your language is not Chinese -Service attitude or concept of service was missing -At breakfast they did not want to fry me two eggs or make noodle soup. Chef just tried to ignore me. I had to be almost nasty and speak in Chinese to make things to happen To sum it up: Stay somewhere else. We paid CNY 400 for 1 night. There are better choices elsewhere. I think many customers are “being pushed” here by the local airlines.
The big highlight of this palce was definitely my room. The king, albeit quite hard, was clean and nice, good sheets. The Bathroom was very large. I was giving this room after China Southern comletely dropped the ball on my flight so they Airline suggested I staye here for my layover. I was offered free dinner when I got there, and subsquently breakfast and lunch the next day. All were quite sub-par. The service was quite shoddy and impersonable as well (is this just typical of Guangzhou and China)? Also I went to look at the gym, it looked like it was from the 1980s and the pool was closed. The actual artchteriture of the hotel is quite nice though. But bscially if you're a non-Chinese tourist I would suggest you stay way from here. The key issue is their unfriendly staff,
Below is my comment 1) Towel is very old and yellow 2)The bathroom ventilation system is faint and noises 3) In western restaurant, there are only spoon but no table spoon
This was my second stopover at Guangzhou during my recent trip to Hainan, courtesy of China Southern Airlines' arrangement for my long flight transit. This time, I made a much better hotel selection compared to the one during my first transit. As my family and I arrived at around 9:30 am, the hotel allowed us to have breakfast at their cafe (albeit a rather rushed one, as their breakfast session ends at 10:00 am). Despite this short time frame, we still managed to have a very satisfactory and wholesome breakfast due to the wide array of breakfast options available there. Now, over to the rooms. We were given two family rooms, each consisting of a king-sized bed plus another super-single bed on both ends of the room, with ample walkway in between. The bathroom was also spacious, and it contains a bathtub as well. All in all, despite being here only for a short stopover before our next flight, I was extremely satisfied with this hotel, and would definitely consider coming here again in my future trips to Guangzhou.
This hotel is quite good for the price per night. Room is large, clean and quiet. Breakfast is mainly with chinese dishes. Many cheap restaurants are closed to the hotel. Staff is not really kind, and don't really take care of customer requirement.
I had an 18-hour lay-over in Guangzhou on my way to New Zealand. Upon arrival, I applied for the 24-hour free transit visa to get out of the airport. As I was flying with China Southern, I took advantage of their free accommodation offer. I found it tricky to find the right counter at the airport to claim for my free night. It is located next to gate 20, one level below the main departure level. The China Southern person suggested the New Century Hotel and quickly arranged the room booking and the car transfer, which took about 30 minutes. The hotel is in the northern part of Guangzhou, far away from the center. There is a subway station just opposite the hotel, but I did not try to use the subway as I was mainly looking to have some rest in the hotel. The check-in was swift. As it was early in the morning, I was offered to benefit from the buffet breakfast. There was a mix of cold and hot dishes, mostly Chinese. It was a decent breakfast. My room located on the 11th floor was large and had been apparently renovated. I found it very clean and nothing was broken. The bed was quite hard tough. The Wi-Fi was free, but slow. I could easily arrange a free transfer back to the airport with a front desk female employee that spoke good English. Overall a very good experience with both China Southern and New Century Hotel.
Was quite happy
I was enroute to Changsha from Nairobi but due to Airline delay we were accommodated by the airline at this hotel, long ride to the hotel about 45min but hotel is okay ,hardly any English so language barrier ,while rooms are old extremely spacious, whole living room, separate bedroom two TV one in each room ,spacious rooms
Honestly it was run down but not filthy. The breakfast spread was large. The hotel is also a 10 minutes walk from a pretty expansive pedestrian area. I won’t be staying again if I have a choice (stayed via China Southern)
So good and location is good for us taking transfer bus to Hong Kong.
This was 1 of the transfer hotels from a China Southern airline for transition or stopover. Don't remembered this hotel or its Liwan New Century? It appears to require a overall makeover! Basic worn down look. I chose it not knowing, BC our flight got canceled due to bad weather. On 1side of hotel appeared better than our complimentary stay side from China Southern airline. Then hotel put u up on the run downed side. So pick of luck to u if u get this situation. Food was so-so....they fed u but what was on breakfast they recycle for lunch & also served 1 other dish. Buffet style. Across we saw pipping steaming dim sum in another restaurant. Also from same establishmt. It looked like for the paying customer. My family & I would have paid to b there but they say we couldn't. Was glad to b @ airport waiting for flight nxt day.
Good Location. It's near the airport. Very helpfull Staff. I have to change my schedule and they allow me to cancel without charge. They are so kind!
Stayed there many times starting from 2012. The location is good for my business, most suppliers are 5-10 km away only. Lots of good Japanese restaurants around, 7-11, massage parlor, fruit market, Guangzhou North Train Station, bus Huadu - Hong Kong station around the corner. But the hotel itself is very run down, rooms need repairs, only 2-3 floors have renovated rooms. There are no armchairs/benches in the lobby. Breakfast is 6/10. Do not choose the rooms facing KTV- you won't be able to sleep all night.
I had to stay in Guangzhou for a day for a connecting flight. China Southern Airline gave me a few hotels to choose from to stay for free and I randomly chose this one. A shuttle van came to pick up a group of us travelers around 6:00am. It was a pretty long ride to the hotel (about 30 minutes). The lobby was large and looked nice. The staff was courteous and showed me to my room. The room was pretty high up and had a nice view of the city and the hotel pool. The buffet had decent food and some watered down drinks but it was okay.
We were forced to choose a hotel from a list on a China Southern Airline layover in Guangzhou, and since this was the only one with a rating, four stars, we chose it. They have a nice big bus that picks you up from the airport to take you there, and when you walk in the lobby is absolutely stunning, but that's where it ends. Only some of the stuff speak English which I get, but the ones that didn't or only spoke it a little bit were very rude and not helpful at all. The rooms are dingy looking, even the hairdryer looks like it's from the 60s or 70s, there are stains on the carpet and the drapes, and the beds are so hard the floor would've been more comfortable. Also the entire place smells like cigarette smoke. We have been touring other parts of Asia and were used to using US currency even though we're Canadian, and the bellhop was not at all impressed when we tipped him in US dollars. We called room service for food the night we were there and we're told that we would have to go outside to get food because there was no food left. I would not come back to this hotel.
Is an old hotel, no microwave But has refrigerator
It appears that not much effort or care is put into maintaining the hotels here. There isnt much good that I can say about this hotel. My husband and I are both non smokers, and were put into a smoking room. When we asked for our room to be changed to non smoking, They said all the rooms were smoking rooms. Because all of the rooms are carpeted , the smells and pollutents get trapped in the room. The room looks like it was cleaned at a superficial level and the carpets were really dirty. The beds were not too bad But My husband and I were provided with two small beds instead of one big bed. We asked again for help, But because we were coming from the airport on a layover, the staff did not want to help us. I woke up with a sore throat from the cigarette smoke and I did not sleep peacefully. I won't be staying at this hotel again.
Old and tired for the price Fitness center had old and defunct equipment.
Parts of the hotel were fancy but some of the finishing on the building seemed poor. Most importantly, the place was clean and the beds were very firm but comfortable. Some buildings in the neighbourhood were dilapidated but others were new.
Helt ok hotell som ligger bra till
Visiting China was great, streets were very clean except the air was very bad. Coffee and bread didnt taste good but MC and KFC tasted much better than U.S.A.
Breakfast is not good, lukewarm, not much varieties, hotel service is not good especially the restaurant and room cleaning staff.
I stayed at the elite twin room. I had a bit upset the hotel cannot officer the upper floor. In addition, the soundproof facilities need to improve due to listen the next room wardrobe.
Room and place is a bit old but can't expect too much in such a small town. I check in but the reception didn't find my booking. After a while, they gave me a key card but there was already someone in the room!!! So embarrassing. I went back to the reception and they said I booked next year. So many excuses. By the way, it is still good and clean. Breakfast is good. Movies are free!
Hotel is close to Downtown and shops
Hotel is outdated, feels like from the 80s. It offered a good price and was rated 4 stars so I decided to give it a try. Made 2-day reservation and upon entering the room, there was a strong musky smell in the room. Lots of stain and spots on the carpet, I'm guessing the carpet must have been 20 years old. One wall plug did not work. I wanted to move immediately but it was already late night and taxi would have taken another 45 min to a downtown 5-star hotel, so I stayed. The next morning I asked about checking out one day early and the manager still wanted to charge for the 2nd night. It was so unbearable I decided to move anyway. When I packed up and went to check out, the manager was not there and the staff graciously charged me only for one night. Buffet breakfast was ¥40 and you get what you pay for.
Normal
Poor signal of wifi in the room... It is unstable
OK, Air Pollution cut my stay short, no dramas with the hotel, buffet wasn't too flash main restaurant was good, not too expensive lots of places to eat in local area
Hotels are for tourist or business travellers so they must have staff that can communicate in English. We found it very difficult to communicate during our stay.
Getting to hotel from airport was very challenging as no taxi would come due to short distance. For a small distance, I ended paying 100rmb. Which should be about 20 mac
Nice place, no complaints.
The New Century Hotel is new and beautiful. There is a city and airport bus right next to the hotel. The receptionists are friendly and helpful. The saved my 80 Yuan by recommending that I catch a bus instead of utilizing a taxi service. They even had an employee escort me to the bus station and waited with me until my buss arrived. The quality, quantity, and the variety of the food and drinks available in the restaurant on the second floor of the hotel was very satisfying. The service was poor. Both mornings I slept there I had to clean up my own table. Not enough waiters and not enough urgency to do their job. Nevertheless, you will NOT regret that you chose sleeping at the New Century Hotel.
Saw a review that mentioned it was connected to the airport... That is incorrect. You need to take a $50 cab ride
I paid $50 for the room, it said 4 star but it was terrible. The rooms on the 8th floor were damp and had an awe full smell. The beds were the hardest I encountered and this was after I moved up to the 14th floor. The beds were no better after I complained. The picture of a glazed rat in the lift promoting some sort of meal put me off breakfast....horrible experience. You pay for what you get
The room was spacious but its finish is a bit on the cheap side. I also didn't have hot water on the first night. If you just need a place to sleep and no more, it's fine.
Nice Hotel but no conectivity to metro. Near to Airport but very far to central ghounzhou.
Pro: Nice location Friendly staff Direct excess to express bus to HK. Free internet Con: Hotel is dated Expect some wear & tear in the room
Very good experience.
Supposedly centralized location was blocked off totally by construction of the new metro system. It will not be an another few years before the station open and perhaps bring some life back to this once grandest hotel in huadu. Big hotel was less than 20 rooms full, dark and isolated is what I would describe the place at this moment. Terrible service as the housekeeping serve me drinkable ice cube in a plastic bag, really? Plastic bag? Yes and she has the cheek to say it's clean n drinkable , I should give it a try. Will not stay here again until they have upgraded all their 80s room.
