Restaurant service & food could be better.
The property is beautiful, the staff is friendly, polite and over all everything was perfect.

This is one of the most charming hotels I have ever stayed in. The old colonial feel is exactly what we were looking for in San Miguel.
We needed more variety at breakfast with a 4 day stay. The food was excellent. Just needed a bit more choices.
Clean and nice room easy access to down town
Customer service
The location was incredible on the prettiest street in SMA and the property is stunning! Our room was so beautiful and comfortable. The restaurant was delicious, the fresh onsite juices were a huge plus, and the handmade soaps were a nice touch. We would definitely stay again!
I don’t have any complaints, but one thing I will just note is that the sound proofing on the room doors was pretty poor, but it didn’t detract from our stay at all!
The property is beautiful and the location is good. It's a short walk into the center of town and all the great restaurants. The food was also very good. The staff was very friendly and helpful with getting a taxi.
The room was not as expected. We paid extra for a Master Suite. Our room had NO windows! There was no table and only 1 chair to sit downstairs. There was an extra daybed in the loft. So little room for us to move around. In addition, the toilet ran VERY SLOWLY. It clogged up once so we had to put the toilet paper in the trash can. Towards the end of our stay, the housekeeping got very lax and didn't even change out the towels that were on the floor. In addition, the AC/Heater sounded like a dog whining every time it went off. By the time we got to our 5th night, we couldn't wait to leave. It was definitely not worth $375/night! It was such a shame as I thought I booked a special place for my husband's birthday. Unfortunately with our experience, we would not return again. I don't think it's worth paying extra for a Master Suite. The room definitely did not match the photos!
Beautiful hotel, friendly staff, super location. Definitely will return
It is a beautiful place, great personnel, restaurant, close to downtown and main celebrations were held.
Great
Room spacious
Tucked away on a quiet cobblestone street, this charming boutique hotel offers the perfect blend of warmth, elegance, and authenticity. From the moment you step through the wrought-iron gate, you're greeted with lush courtyards, hand-painted tiles, and the scent of fresh bougainvillea. The rooms are thoughtfully decorated with local art and cozy touches, and the staff go above and beyond to make you feel at home. Breakfast in the courtyard terrace—is a daily highlight. A true sanctuary in the heart of San Miguel.
This property was beautiful! Would 100% stay here again.
The property felt like you were staying in someone's house. Each room was so spacious with a sitting room spacious two sink bath and bedroom.
Wonderful atmosphere, peaceful, and close to town center
Excellent customer service , great location
Tienen que mejorar la ejecucion de los platos a la carta de noche .
This sprawling hotel is an artistic refuge in downtown SMA. A former colonial monastery the property is a labyrinth of passageways, stairs and arches with bright colors, flowers everywhere, and museum quality ceramics and other crafts at every turn. The staff is attentive, the rooms are large and comfortable, and the Mexican breakfast in the courtyard is transcendent. Check out the murals in the bar! A word of caution to travellers with mobility/vision challenges: ask for a room in the front so there are fewer stairways to navigate.
La ubicación, La atención, El interior del inmueble.
El precio del buffet, excesivamente caro, carisimo !
I’ve notice that hotels provide less desirable rooms to customers who book through Expedia, that been said I didn’t expect this hotel to do this as the hotel seemed pretty empty my daughters and I didn’t see any other occupants yet they gave us the room in the farthest corner of their property. We had to go up and down multiple stairs to get to our room. Water pressure was horrible. Bed was so firm it felt like sleeping on on the floor. I wouldn’t recommend
Unique. Historical. Has character. Beautiful.
The hotel was in a wonderful location-close to shopping and dining. We loved our room with a terrace.Has all the ambiance of San Miquel. The staff was very accomodating .We would absolutely stay there on our next visit.
Hermosa hacienda con detalles en artesanía mexicana y sus bellos jardines, muy amable el personal, me encantó todo.
Bello lugar, rica comida, staff amable, habitaciones comodas
Absolutely fabulous accommodations three blocks from El Jardin! A hidden gem. We will definitely be back again soon.
Great location
Beautiful hotel near to everything
This is a working farm focusing on traditional equestrian activities. The gracious staff gave us a tour. It was like stepping back in time. Very authentic view of the proud and elegant traditions of Mexico
We loved this hotel! Everything is excellent
Loved the location, hotel, staff, everything! Would definitely come back. Perla was our receptionist and she was the sweetest!
Me gustó todo. Ubicación, servicio, desayuno espectacular. Hotel que merece la pena ser visitado y recorrer las distintas terrazas con sus impresionantes vistas.
Great location, it’s the best street for pictures as the church will be in your background. The rooms are nice and the restaurant had a delicious dinner. The only reason I gave them a 4 instead of 5 is because they arranged my transportation from airport which cost 1900 pesos. On the way back to the airport when I did it myself, it was only 1200 pesos. I can infer they take a cut and that’s not necessary when I’m already paying for my room.
I love everything about my stay at this hotel
Beautiful hotel and property. Perfectly and centrally located on a scenic street. Super helpful staff. We enjoyed our meals - loved them. Totally recommend.
Everyone was very accommodating - food excellent and service as well
Low water pressure in the shower
Great place, great & attentive staff, great restaurant!
Loved the place. We will be back.
Many quaint properties when we were walking around San Miguel. For us, location is what made this hotel great. Close to city center, a park nearby for kids, and close to Rosewood Hotel where we attended an event as a guest. This hotel was beautiful old building married with lots of greenery. Food is also good. Many restaurants nearby. This wouldn't be as modern, new, and refined like Rosewood, but is really good for the price & a good experience. Staff is friendly. If you had no budget, Rosewood would be the way to go.
Everything was so beautiful! Great customer service.
Rooms were not working when we arrived- toilet did not flush, there was no way to contact the front desk from the room, the TV was not working, and did not work throughout. There was confusion about whether breakfast was included or not- it was not. The breakfast was average. For what we paid per night, not a great value.
Cons: inconsistent hot water (but SMA is hot, so this was ok) & a loud A/C unit (but it worked well & didn’t interfere w/our sleep) Despite these minor inconveniences, I would still 100% absolutely recommend staying here!! The location is perfect (easily walkable to sights, cafes, & shops); the staff is warm & helpful; and the rooms & grounds are well-kept & charming. We all (3 couples) loved our stay in SMA & at this hotel in particular.
Very pleased with the entire experience.
Awesome place, close but far enough from the crowded areas.
It was a great stay. Beautiful hotel, walking distance to el centro.
Everywhere you look at Hacienda El Santaurio is captivating. We just spent time walking around the hotel enjoying the ornamentation, fine Mexican decorative arts, and little surprises. The little bar has the most fascinating mural!!! Covering all 4 walls. The staff is exceedingly attentive. Very very nice people who indulged all our wants. It is best if you know some Spanish. I’d say this is true for all San Miguel de Allende. I’m specifically writing to advise about the 2 grand suites offered. The photos for both on the website are intermixed. My husband who booked was confused when we arrived. We had the GRANADA suite. It is 2 stories. The 2 floors joined by a narrow spiral staircase. If someone has ambulatory issues, this is probably not the suite. As well, the second floor bedroom is smallish, with a full bath. HOWEVER, the terrace out the patio doors was amazing!! We could see the famed sunset (no rooftop restaurant reservation necessary), and from the corner, we could see The Parroquia. At night it looked stunning. Because of the small bedroom and no real closet to speak of, I made the small downstairs living room my dressing area, and I used the SECOND downstairs bathroom. This set up worked well. The room was very quiet at this time of year, and 2nd floor gloriously sunny. The other grand suite is called the PARAISO. It is located on the perimeter of the open air dining area, a courtyard type arrangement with rooms on two sides looking toward the dining area. (But like all rooms, you are outside when you open your hotel door.). Paraiso is separated from dining area by a heavy piece of dining furniture for privacy. Paraiso is on the ground floor on route guests go to front entrance of hotel. The large room cannot receive much sun light. The advantage is that there are very few stairs to this room. Unlike the Granada, which is up an outdoor steep staircase from another small courtyard. The Paraiso is one large room with combined sitting area and 1 bathroom as far as I understand. The hotel does have a nice communal terrace from which to see the sunset and the Parroquia. They were not operating a bar there, though, when we were there in April. They run a dining room, but we barely saw anyone eat there. Breakfast, especially Sunday brunch, is very recommended. You are just too spoiled for restaurant. choices in San Miguel. El Santaurio is on the much ballyhooed Adama Street, which is picturesque, and near the Centro and major sites, the worthwhile San Antonio neighborhood , and the choicest restaurants and rooftop bars.
The hotel, with its beautiful gardens and artwork, is in a great central location in San Miguel de Allende. The food and service at the restaurant were excellent.
This is an old building with interesting rooms, ours with a balcony. Beds are comfortable and the towels and linens are fresh every day. Convenient walking to the town plaza and in the other direction to interesting city sights. This is definitely not a touristy hotel for English speakers...bring your Spanish with you!
I am extremely upset about what happened at this hotel. I booked based on the info and pictures presented on Expedia. I booked the best suite (Grand Master Suite), but the room we got looked nothing like the pictures on the website. This is downright fraud to advertise something then deliver something completely different. Bait and switch is what that is. I asked the front desk to give us the room I booked but was told the hotel was completely full. There was no way I was going to stay in a room that was worse than a 1-star motel. So I booked a different property (through Expedia) and asked them to refund me. The manager called and told me she would give me a full refund. She told me to have Expedia contact her so that she can process it. But then she changed her mind several minutes later and refused to give me a refund. This is completely unethical and unjust. We stayed there for just 14 hours and left because we didn't get the room we paid for. The right thing to do is issue me a refund for this awful experience. I'm absolutely upset and disappointed with Expedia and this hotel for causing so much stress on my vacation.
The hotel was beautiful, food was delicious and staff was awesome.
I booked a master room and was given a double bed jr suite. Front desk girl didn’t want to help me. Told me to wait until the next day. I reached Expedia and they did talk to the hotel and change me to the mater room. The hotel has a lot of stirs, just be prepared. The bed and pillows were very hard, not really comfortable. The room was clean md close to the centro area. They have a buffet Sunday’s $35 dollars per person.
Tgis was a horrible experience. I have stayed in San Miguel several times, but this hotel wasn’t very helpful. The staff are not polite and hardly help you with anything.
Thank you
We stayed here 3 nights but did not enjoy our stay. The fact that we paid more and 20000 pesos for 3 night in this hotel just to sleep and use the washrooms hurt us more. Looking at kitchen and other guest breakfast plates, we decided to eat in other hotels. There are plenty of reasons for us to be disappointed. The reasons are as below: 1 It is poor value for money as facilities, comforts and experience are of 2 star hotel with 4 star price. 2. Pictures don’t match with reality. Rooms are much smaller. 3. Breakfast is very poor but expensive. But we did not eat here even once. Just one guy in the kitchen serving food from storage. That’s why they call it English breakfast. 4. water presssure is low and it takes long time for hot water to flow. Shower also is not enjoyable. 5. There is no toilet brush or jet spray . You can not clean the toilet after use. 6. In the name of art, there is too much clutter and noise. There is no harmony in the aesthetics. I am posting pics of these “artistic” clutter making the ambience noisy and disharmonious. 7. we were taken in by different design for different rooms but rooms have lot of din from motley of art occupying precious space which otherwise could have been put to use. 8. The housekeeping staff spays some disinfectant on the bedsheets and pillows and rugs making them wet for so long. We found it when we entered the room while she was cleaning the room. I don’t know what chemical it must have been but the bed was wet for at least 2 hours 9. Front desk reception staff does not know English. Communicating with them is difficult. Also they are not trained to be polite and respectful to the guests. 10. Due to lack of language skills, the staff is of no help for advice on things to do, restaurants etc. This department is absolutely zero in this hotel. For us it was a huge disappointment to stay here.
Location is ver convenient, you close to the main square, yet it’s quiet. Staff if very friendly and helpful. Make use of the terrace. Bed/pillows/sheets are definitively an area for improvement.
We just checked in today for 3 nights but the interaction with front desk staff was so distasteful that I decided to post my review in advance. This is an expensive hotel by city standards charging 7000 pesos a night without breakfast. The pictures of the property do not match with the real thing. The room has a coffee machine but no kettle for hot water. I requested the reception for electric kettle but they did not know what I was asking . So I went to front desk reception and spoke to one Pamela who is the front desk chief. I showed her picture of water kettle. The conversation quickly tuned ugly. She lost her calm and spoke very impolitely. I asked her name which she was reluctant to give and I told her I will report the incident. Generally , I found other staff also lacking the class of staff of a good hotel. What is the point of a fancy hotel when staff have an attitude and vent out their stress on the guests.
Excelente servicio Las terrazas del hotel tienen una vista maravillosa de la ciudad y de la puesta del sol. Se encuentra muy cerca caminando del zócalo y del parque Juarez: excelente opción para disfrutar de San Miguel de Allende
Thanks to the staff on the front desk they were great , restaurant and bar wonderful . only thing o would consider would be to have tv with international news station in english - cbc , bbc, nbc, cnn etc at least one or two
Nice boutique hotel in great central location. Was able to check in early. Service and amenities a bit underwhelming. Did not get VIP benefits.
Absolutely charming boutique hotel! Our room, the bar and restaurant are all amazing. And the location in Centro can’t be beat. The staff are also very warm and kind. Highly recommend!
Our room was charming and we enjoyed sitting out in the rooftop patio.
The steps! I’m not in the best shape
A male staff worker entered our room at 6:30 am for no reason without announcing himself! It completely startled us an left us uneasy for the remainder of the stay. When we asked for an explanation, we were told that they had we had left. I would not recommend this place.
Everything close by.but pictures are not what they show and bathroom has a busted water pipe only when you turn on the water.
Delicious and amazing service
nice hotel - beautiful structure. friendly staff
Gorgeous property! The courtyards are spectacular with artwork and antiques. Lovely places to spead out and relax with a book. Breakfast menu had yummy offerings with good service and loved that it was a few blocks to the square and Cathedral everything felt very safe night for walking or day. As a bonus there are some lovely rooftop bar/restarants nearby that overlook the city. Perfect for sunset. Will return.
Recommend place to stay
Love this place, we stay here at lease ones a year! My family and I LOVE all the traditional Mexican art work from all over the hotel. It's silly but I enjoy the little hand made soap that we received at check in. Breakfast is delicious.
Lovely hotel, excellent staff. Room was unexpected — we thought we were getting a Master Suite with one bed as shown in pics on Expedia and the hotel website, but we got a room with two beds — the second bed took up most of the space so there was hardly room to sit and have a coffee. Also, there was construction noise all day, every day — not the hotel’s fault but no siestas to be had.
Calm
Location was great. Near Jardín and Parque Juarez
I chose this property for its authenticity, location, affordability, and the incredible (!) bar. I was not disappointed. Located on “one of the world’s most beautiful streets” according to Architectural Digest, it’s an easy walk to the Centro.
The property is beautiful. The location is perfect. The onsite bar and bartender were fun. Housekeeping was great.
Front Desk staff could be more warm and friendly.
Excellent
close to everything, private, delicious restaurant
Beautiful hotel, great location
Decor
Great decor and location
More English speaking staff but it was fine.
Service was great.
Amazing property we loved every second
The rooms are nice. No elevators you have to use stairs with luggage. The description of the property said they had parking on site and that was a big lie parking lot was about 3 kilometers away and you have to walk back to hotel they do not provide a shuttle from parking lot to hotel.
The location was perfect. Food and drinks were amazing service was exceptional.
This hotel is my favorite place in the world. It is so sweet and peaceful. The staff are so kind and friendly they feel like family. Beautiful Mexican style rooms, excellent restaurant/bar as well as cultural events. Make this your first choice for stays in San Miguel De Allende.
The hotel is a lovely accomodation. The workers were friendly.
There was moe in the shower. My parents had to shower cold, because the heater in their room didnt work. It was a gift for their anniversary....so it was very upsetting. We didnt get a room change or any compensation.
The location was incredibly convenient as we were able to walk everywhere. We really loved that.
The front desk could’ve done a better job at communicating with me about the status of my taxi. Since taxis are not parked directly outside, I requested 1 hour in advance to the front desk if they could call a taxi for me. They agreed and informed me that it would not be an issue. When we came out to the front desk, they assured the taxi had been called and would arrive in 5min. After 10min of waiting, I asked for an update and they said it would be there in 2min. After waiting for over 20min past our request time, we decided to not use the taxi. There was no communication or updates from the front desk. The reason I requested the taxi 1 hour in advance was to avoid a long wait. The front desk could’ve done a better job with this and could’ve been more efficient with this situation.
Beautiful and magical property. My husband and I loved it so much we booked another night.
Breakfast was good, but bread wasn’t fresh.
Portion could be larger, possibly add some fresh fruit.
Love this place
This charming, colorful, traditional Mexican Hotel is probably the best area to walk around San Miguel de Allende.
Unique
Our room was beautiful, the entire property is amazing and the location is perfect, I would stay there again for sure.
I would of like for the sofa bed to be more comfortable, the mattress was really had compare to the main bed.
Beautiful town, beautiful hotel. The hotel has everything you are looking for. Location is great. Staff is awesome. Restaurant and bar are very nice. We only stayed for two nights, and we can't wait to go back for a longer stay.
Located very close to the central plaza. Staff very friendly and welcoming. Beautiful hotel with amazing art and creative touches
The location was excellent and it was always clean and tidy.
The room was very dark and all the bedside lights were on the one side of the bed making it difficult for the person sleeping on the other side.
