We had a lovely stay at Blue Water. The property was beautiful, peaceful and very relaxing, making it a perfect place to unwind. The room was comfortable and clean, and the surroundings were lovely. The staff were friendly and welcoming, and we really appreciated their hospitality throughout our stay. Everything was well organised, and we felt comfortable and looked after.

We enjoyed our stay at Blue Water, and I appreciated being upgraded to the JBawa Special Edition Suite. However, there were a few areas that could be improved. The rooms became very wet inside quite quickly whenever we opened the doors. In the Special Edition Suite, the floor also became wet and slippery when we switched on the air conditioning, which was a safety concern. It would also be helpful if each room had more information about the à la carte menu and spa services, including prices, so guests can easily plan and make bookings. Unfortunately, the mocktails and cocktails we ordered at the bar were not very enjoyable. I feel the bar staff may benefit from some additional training in cocktail preparation, presentation and consistency, so the drinks can meet the standard expected from the property. Overall, we enjoyed the beautiful surroundings and hospitality, but addressing these areas would make the guest experience much better.

Noisy and not powerful ac in the room. Due to several water supply cuts in the morning the water shower temperature was cold or burning. Long 3-days weddings held in the garden, breaking the beauty and the calmness of the hotel. Some members of the staff are too much intense trying to be simpatic but they were exceeding the attention to us.

We stayed at the Blue Water for only two nights but so wished we would have stayed longer. The following is what stood out for me as a true 5-star hotel: * welcoming ceremony * attentive staff (we ate hoppers one morning for breakfast and finger bowls appeared without request - might be a small action but it's noticed when other "5-star" Hotels are not as attentive). * large manicured open spaces using the breeze from the ocean in the design * plenty of options/areas to "lounge" or have a drink * huge pool with separate pool bar (open air and under-cover seating options) * large and staffed gym * beautifully decorated large rooms * WhatsApp system for requests (I used it to request the room be made when we vacated for about hour or so, worked very well!) * delicious and varied local and western food options (it was local all the way for me). Particular mention to Senaya and Aruna who made our stay so enjoyable. Thank you for looking after us so well and the professionalism you displayed in your service. Stunning, calm and beautiful location. Excellent service and caring staff. As good as i remembered it long long ago.

Checked into executive suite and it was stunning cosy, clean and comfortable.

チェックイン、チェックアウトはスムーズで部屋に案内してくれた際に、質問事項はないかなど、とても丁寧に対応をしてくれた。朝食が豊富でよかった。また、プールを利用したが、すぐにスタッフがタオルを持ってきてくれてよかった。

部屋のお風呂が古い印象でそこが残念。全体的にすこし老朽化している印象。

On a pu passer un très bon moment pour notre dernière nuit au Sri Lanka. Nous n'avions pas de programme particulier nous avons donc profité de la piscine de la salle de sport de la plage et du restaurants. Nous avons apprécié notre séjour. La chambre était grande bellebest confortable.

Le mobilier était un peu abîmé, cassé et tâché. Rien de très gênant.

The spa is exceptional! The staff are also very friendly and hospitable.

The spread at the buffet was a hit or miss, I thought it would be better given the head chef at the hotel.

We verbleven opnieuw in The Blue Water, twintig jaar na ons eerste bezoek, en het blijft een indrukwekkende ervaring. Het ontwerp is werkelijk tijdloos. De architectuur speelt prachtig in op de omgeving, met waterpartijen die niet alleen esthetisch zijn, maar ook zorgen voor een natuurlijke verkoeling. In combinatie met de open structuur en de constante zeebries creëert dit een aangename, natuurlijke airco die je meteen tot rust brengt. De service is tot in de puntjes verzorgd: attent, vriendelijk en professioneel zonder opdringerig te zijn. Ook culinair stelt het hotel niet teleur — het eten is gevarieerd, vers en bijzonder smaakvol. En dan is er nog het zwembad: ruim, rustgevend en perfect geïntegreerd in het geheel. Een plek waar je moeiteloos uren doorbrengt. Kortom, een hotel dat zijn charme en kwaliteit door de jaren heen niet verloren heeft — integendeel. Een plek om naar terug te keren.

Pas na herhaald navragen kregen we bevestiging dat onze chauffeur gebruik kon maken van de driversaccommodatie. Dat is uiteraard een basisvoorziening die je in een hotel van dit niveau mag verwachten. Het is dan ook jammer dat dit niet proactief en vooraf geregeld of gecommuniceerd werd, want dat zorgt onnodig voor onzekerheid bij aankomst.

Beautiful architecture, attentive staff, good variety of food and large areas. Excellent spa space and service. Highly recommend. The suites are gorgeous and spacious with beautiful views overlooking the ocean. The food and service was good in general. We enjoyed the variety of food.

Check in duration - check in takes way too long although the service while waiting is good. I’d rather check in sooner to enjoy the facilities than spend half hour sitting at reception. Pool staff probably needs a bit more training to be friendlier and attentive. Most of senior waiting staff seem to simply order the younger staff around when we request anything. We observed this for 2 days. The female and younger restaurant staff were excellent with their service. Last day breakfast food ran out by 9:30am and was only restocked after 10am when breakfast time was over.

The check in and check out too an unnecessary long time. On the day of the check out they were understaffed to handle the check outs because there was a big wedding party that was checking out on that day.

Das Hotel hat landeseigene 5 Sterne und war als Hotel, Zimmer, Essen, Pool, Strand, Personal, das Beste von unsere Reise nach Sri Lanka. Ein Hotel vom Feinsten! Und der Preis ist unschlagbar für diese Qualität!

Absolut nichts zu bemängeln!

Tolles Erscheinungsbild, überall Wasserfälle, großzügige , weitläufige Anlage. Wir haben vermutlich aufgrund weniger Buchungen [ Ölkrise] ein Zimmerupgrade bekommen. Zimmer war sehr groß und luxuriös. Wunderschöner Blick aufs Meer. Große Poolanlage mit ausreichend Liegen im Garten, die man flexibel aufstellen darf. Sauberer Strandabschnitt. Üppiges Frühstück und Abendessen in Buffetform, aber auch mehrere Restaurants. Sehr freundliches Personal.

Die Cocktails und Mixgetränke sind extrem Süß, werden auch mit Zuckersirup gesüßt. In diesem Land wären frische Zutaten auch in den Cocktails möglich, ohne künstlich nachzuhelfen. Auch frisches Obst außerhalb der Restaurantöffnungszeiten habe ich etwas vermisst.

Some parts of the hotel are aged and not maintained like some of the toilet seats are damaged and sheets have some small stains.

Great space and nice pool. Staff were very welcoming. Rooms fabulous size and very comfortable. Restaurant was good and offered good choices. Some restaurant staff not as friendly or good as other staff around the hotel.

Was expensive compared to other accommodations in Sri Lanka. For this reason it was a little surprising we had to prophase additional water for our room. It should be free for the price of the stay. We arrived at 6pm and our room wasn’t ready which was disappointing. The room wasn’t spotless but ok. Cleaning was better after first night.

Lovely pools leading onto the beach, which is fine for walking along and paddling, but would only suit strong swimmers. Good sized room with sea views beyond the pools and tree filled garden. We enjoyed the buffet meals- there were always Sri Lankan options, but various international dishes each day.

Cannot fault the staff working really, a few minor issues but overall helpful. Room was lovely and spacious. Pool and surroundings were beautiful.

the management (all bar about 2) are absolutely useless day in day out, always a problem each day and painful to resolve. the cleaning of our room was poor, on the surface fine but I came home with dirty black pyjama bottoms on the cuff (they were white) because the floors weren't cleaned once throughout out 11 day stay. Nothing moved, only made my sons bed twice and didn't have enough towels or pillows at all to cater for the 3 of us in the room. my son is also special needs so I had to bring my own food as I was prepared that the options may not be adequate for him and getting a simple bowl of plain pasta made that I brought with us and paying them for it was painful. Luckily we met some helpful waiters that when they were in working were able to help with no bother. (defiantly who you meet in this hotel)

Smelly room, not functioning kettle - no reaction from the staff.

The property itself as well as the look of the building are very nice. The staff was excellent and the location was very nice at the beach.

There is quite some maintenance to be done. The tennis court is useless as there are no functional rackets and balls, which would be very easy and cheap to replace. The pool is constantly out of towels (easy to buy more). The airco made the room smell very stuffy and was unpleasant. Some of the buildings need more maintenance. Overall the price is too much compared to other places we have stayed.

Check in took ages. Even though I had let them know I need an extra bed, that wasn't recorded and actioned. Just everything was so slow Checkout was the whole other nightmare with bills not been set to front office to make the final payment. Not knowing booking dot com have 15 percent discount on F&B.

Beautiful hotel

Very busy hotel, largely catering for large tour groups, staff therefore often playing catch-up.

There were plenty of dinner options. The pool was good. The staff were friendly.

The restaurant seemed understaffed, and service could have been more attentive. We had to request table clearing before the next course and additional water. The staff also spoke quite loudly among themselves in front of guests, which was uncomfortable.

The staff were friendly and most helpful in most of the time, except for one of the pool staff who wasn’t service oriented. The resort ambience was relaxing and had a good vibe, my family enjoyed it. They were considerate in setting up a bed for my son ahead of our arrival, which was nice of them.

The property’s location wasn’t ideal, with the beach being public had a certain audience of local people, also the building is old with black mold visible in one of the rooms we were offered, and the room facilities were old, such as the AC or tub.

We really liked the large and beautiful hotel territory. The swimming pool is very big, and the beach is calm and pleasant, with waves that were not too strong. The rooms are spacious, with beautiful views. Breakfast and dinner menus were very rich, and the food was excellent and delicious.

We did not like that sometimes the staff tried too hard to persuade us to choose what they preferred rather than what we asked for. For example, when we asked for a cocktail, we were encouraged to order wine instead if we chose a dish from the à la carte menu. There is a lot of staff, but it felt that not everyone was genuinely attentive to the guests. Unfortunately, the hotel also has big problem with the noise. Trains can be heard passing both during the day and at night. Additionally, the air conditioning units in the rooms are old and very noisy, which disturbed our sleep — at times the noise was strong enough to wake us up. Getting pool towels or sun loungers was inconvenient — we had to look for the responsible staff member around the large property for about 15-20 minutes. A separate note regarding the Seven Seas restaurant: the menu felt overly “fine dining” and complicated, but the dishes did not impress in terms of taste, while the prices were very high. Many cocktails from the menu were unavailable due to missing ingredients. There was also a lack of local food options — especially seafood — which was disappointing, as even hotels in the mountains offered such choices. Overall, the price-to-quality ratio felt too high.

Het zwembad is mooi, groot, voldoende ligbedjes, handdoeken voorzien via het hotel. Ontbijt en diner in buffetvorm is uitgebreid, voldoende keuze en lekker. Er zijn nog 2 andere restaurant voor kleinere hapjes of a la carte menu.

De schoonmaak was wat ongeorganiseerd, apart water brengen, apart langskomen voor vegen en apart voor het opmaken van de bedden. De grond was niet geheel schoon, er lagen veel blaadjes en vliegjes. Bedden waren netjes, schoon, fris. Je moet wel duidelijk aangeven dat je nieuw beddengoed wilt middels een kaartje op je kussen, anders wordt dat niet gedaan.

The architecture and the design is very nice. All rooms are oriented towards the sea with a great view. Our room had a nice exit through the balcony directly to the pool. Had multiple restaurants/bars/cafes on the property to choose from. Beautiful surroundings and nature, amazing coconut trees. Staff is mostly friendly but not great service. Caution - this hotel has many wedding celebrations, and it can be beautiful but it is also noisy.

The first and most important part is withholding the information about the 33% tax on top of any bill in the hotel. We had multiple surprised with this and this is not acceptable. They had to be transparent with this as this is a huge tax and it adds up a lot on the bill. Second - service is quite slow and not great. Sometimes we had to ask multiple for a glass of water, and once some food in the buffet is over, they are not putting any effort to refill and if asked, again multiple times is needed. Third - Cleanliness is also a bit of an issue, they would come and clean or so it would look like, but we had dirty bloody linen from mosquitos two days, they just made the bed with the same linen two days in a row. Also, shower curtain is moldy at the bottom.

the lobby view to the sea is incredible. after all the Bawa's work i been visited, this one has the best 'vacation vibe'. Though the room we live in is designed not by Bawa but his student, it is ok.
