The only thing was the food . I ordered fish and chips but the fish was ok the chips were over done couldn’t eat them and the table next to me complained about very little chicken in there salad . When paying I mentioned it and I was told I will pass it on to the chef ? Otherwise everything else was great

Reviewed Sep 2, 2026The property is beautiful!! I see why there are lots of weddings here. We stayed in a building behind the castle. The room was spacious and beautiful. There was no ac but it was not needed. A fan was provided and so was a hair dryer which is not provided much in Ireland hotels. The restaurant was very nice and our meal was great. Didn't realize the entree came with potato and veggies so we ordered potatoes and had three sides of potatoes! Breakfast was great as well and included in the rate. Nothing bad to say at all.

Reviewed Sep 1, 2026Beautiful grounds and amazing staff both at reception and at the bar and restaurant. Our rooms were lovely and when one of the beds was smaller than expected the staff helped to find another room for us.
Wish there was more to do on the grounds. Enough for a one night stay but would have been bored if we stayed longer.

Reviewed Aug 29, 2026We enjoyed our stay, everything was great. A dream come true for me today stay in a castle ever since watching Bridgerton:) Just wish the weather was better so we could’ve enjoyed the outside grounds as well.
The check-in process didn’t go as smooth as planned. We got there about 2:30 and were told rooms weren’t ready so we went to the bar and had a drink. Went back to try again and got a slightly rude response “well it’s just 3 on the dot”. Two of us got our rooms but the other couple had to wait another 40 minutes.

Staff were wonderful and would like to mention Brenda who went above and beyond during our evening meal in the restaurant. We stayed in a Superior Courtyard Room which was incredible and enjoyed the fireworks from our little balcony that evening. Food was amazing in all restaurants and breakfast. We even managed to set Oscar and Guinness the resident Wolfhounds. We will definitely stay again and it has a well deserved place in most Romantic Hotels of Ireland . Thank you

Reviewed Aug 26, 2026We went on our 20th Anniversary for one night and requested maybe a room with a four poster bed, it is a castle after all. We arrived to a beautiful room with an amazing four poster bed in a room with incredible stone walls, in a quiet area of the castle. It was just beautiful and chocolates on arrival. We relaxed and walked the beautiful grounds and then went to dinner in the Derby bar. The food was excellent, we had salmon and a curry dish with drinks. The next morning we went for breakfast to the main restaurant and it was another wonderful meal full Irish breakfast but there was lots of different foods available. Overall the castle looked after us so well on our Anniversary it was amazing. Thank you Cabra Castle :-).

The way the breakfast is handled (even tho it is super nice). 3.50 for an extra coffee without clear indication from staff or to at least offer the multiple option feels weird.

I suppose the breakfast closed a bit early after the wedding the night before, would have been nice if it stayed open until 12 as we just missed the breakfast as we came down at 11:15a.m and the breakfast closed at 11.

Reviewed Jul 16, 2026It was beautiful, very original and authentic, and all the grounds were perfectly manicured. we hated it, but we had to make an early departure and we asked the evening staff if anyone would be there to check us out. It was their idea to have coffee ready for us that morning since the restaurant would not be open yet. My people love coffee and when we got to check out, they had it ready for us to go. It was the sweetest little gesture that really meant a lot.
