Very well decorated rooms and very affordable prices. would recommend anyone who wants to stay in the area to choose here. Nice little pub at the front of the hotel. off street parking ad a great breakfast in the morning .

the room itself was beautiful. it looked and smelt clean, beds were made, place was tidy. we had a nice view from the window. it was spacious

Only 2 very lovely overworked staff on in Restaurant and bar. Very long wait for food and the steak pie wasn't brilliant. Stayed there as husband had been there before and found it excelkwnt

It is central for travelling to different places and has some good pubs in the area

We were in the family room even though there was only 2 of us, there were only 4 hangers for clothes, there were 4 bedside cabinets however the drawers were too small to fit any clothing other than underwear, we lived out of our suitcase for yhe duration

Parking available. Staff were friendly. Room was very nice. Meals in the pub ( extra) were very good.

Had to ask on a couple of occasions for more milk, and drinks in our room.

The room was clean, comfortable and well stocked with tea, coffee and biscuits. Very impressed with the shower and the toiletries provided were top quality. The staff were welcoming and friendly and made us feel at home. The food was excellent. We ate at the hotel several times during our stay and the standard and choice of meals was exceptional. We look forward to returning in the not too.distant future.

The redecoration has been done well, nice and fresh rooms now. New food menu had a broader selection than previously and tasted good.

The twin beds I had could have been put together to make a double which would have been much more comfortable for me travelling on my own. Breakfast opened at 8am which was a little late due to my plans so couldn't take advantage. Also disappointing that the bar closes early (9.30) during the weeek.

Room 9 was lovely. Large, bright, very clean. The staff were all very friendly and helpful. We ate our evening meal there which was great. Also breakfast was good. Car park at the rear of the property.

Two things. In room 9 there was only a stool to sit on. The room is large enough for a couple of small chairs which would be great, especially for those of us with bad backs who can’t sit or lie on a bed. And we could hear very little nice from the bathroom next door through the walls.

We booked late. The room was brilliant, characterful and spacious. I would stay again if the need arises. Excellent conversion of an older building. Decent breakfast too.

Can't really fault the place. I would highly recommend it.

Room was large with plenty of space, and clean and tidy. Beds were very comfortable and cosy. The staff were very friendly and the check in was straight forward with all points covered at check in.

We booked the room thinking we had booked a dog friendly room. But unfortunately we were informed after booking that all the dog friendly rooms had been taken. We were offered a cancellation but decided to leave our pet at home with our daughter.

The room was very clean very cosy spacious! The staff was very lovely friendly and welcoming, parking was fab and the area was a nice peaceful area.

The food at the pub was quite pricey with limited choice for adults , kids ate free if adults did however the kids pizza was just a Chicago town pizza and for the price you’d expect a little more than that.

Amazing rooms, bed very comfortable. Room spotless.

Only thing was there were no cereal's or yogurts available for breakfast.

Room was not cleaned from our arrival. You were expected to ask at receprion for clean towels etc. No proper reception area. We were unable to get a sandwich at tea time, had to be a meal. No cereal, fruit or yoghurts at breakfast.

I stayed here for one night recently as I had a job interview in the local area. I was really quite impressed with this place. It is a very cozy pub inside with a spacious outdoor area, and the room was immaculate. Honestly one of the best kept hotel rooms I’ve ever stayed in and I have travelled all over the world. The bed was very comfy and all of the materials used (curtains, countertops etc.), were clearly of a very high standard, a lot of money has been spent here. I was only in for a flying visit so didn’t try the food / drinks etc., but they looked great. It’s a pretty town and I imagine a very good base for exploring the countryside / hiking / camping. The girl who checked me in was gorgeous and friendly (most of the locals seemed to be kind, very much appreciated after a long day travelling). All in all, a superbly kept room in a cozy setting which I would very strongly recommend to anyone.

Since our last visit in December 25 , it's had a makeover to a higher standard . Top to bottom it's a step up. All the staff old and new were welcoming and professional. Dogs are made very welcome.

Ordering breakfast the night before, isn't perfect. You can't always be sure what you'll want. It was of a good quality.

Breakfast was overpriced and could be included in the price. Room 2 - No hooks or places to hang wet towels when they have been used in the shower so could do with something like hooks on the wall or back of the door. In the winter there is the radiator in the room but nothing in the summer. So unfortunately the towels still felt damp.

Room 6 was huge. Perfect for us as a family of 4. Clearly had not long been refurbished and everything was immaculate. Beds and bedding were some of the comfiest I've ever slept in. We ate in the restaurant twice and the food was lovely and reasonable. The hotel is set in a lovely little village with a few small shops and a short drive to lots of activities.

Another impromptu night away Kirbymoorside to take in the local auction house. The George and Dragon is situated in the middle of a lovely unspoilt small town. Didn't see a vape shop or Turkish Barbers. Lovely place for a bimble round ( it won't take you long to see all the traditional houses and buildings). It found us looking in Esatte Agents windows. Nice drive there so location is perfect. They tell me that the hotel has had a complete refurb but everyhing looks as if it always been there. Beautifully decorated and furnished. Who ever did the refurb was very clever. Delightful welcome at reception. The lady booking us in was friendly knowledgible and genuinely interested in us as guests. The room was superb. intitial thoughts were that its small but its ideal with everything you could want for over night or short stay..cosey. Thoughtfully decorated with wounderfully comfortable bed. Every thing is clean and well laid out. Really nice bright bathroom. Dined in the pub, nicely busy with a mix of guests and "colourful" local characters and friendly staff . The restaurant again looked amazing and very traditional. Thoughtfull menu catering for all tastes. When they say large portions they aren't kidding. Our waitress (Popsicle) was delightful and chatty. Certainly deserves massive payrise. Great night sleep followed by a quality breakfast. Brilliant friendly staff again Faultless experience lookforward to returning. We can't recommend the George and Dragon enough. 20/21 Aug

The staff were really friendly, the food was lovely and excellent value for money. The room was a good size and comfy. The shower was good and the in room facilities were excellent, brew making facilities, there was plenty of information booklets for local tourist attractions and all the streaming platforms on TV.

There was a small mark on the bedding which looked like it was blood and washed in. The item of bedding was the bed runner which was removed as it was more a decorative item than actual bedding. Do didn't cause any major issue. However, I would definitely stay here again as the hotel itself was spotless, and the area was lovely, quaint and like a step back in time... It would have been a nice touch to have a breakfast included. An extra few quid when booking to cover the breakfast and you wouldn't have felt it in the old pocket during the visit, would have made it an exceptional stay.

The pillows and bed were so comfortable. The price was incredibly reasonable given the size of the room. The off street parking was an unexpected bonus. The accommodation was separate from the pub, meaning the room was quiet.

The rooms were great; clean and comfy and modern. A good sized bathroom too and plenty of towels! The pub was cute and traditional and we enjoyed a pint there. Staff were friendly and welcoming. One of them was really helpful when a neighbouring room's people had been very noisy for hours late into the night - he sorted it out for us! It was peaceful and we enjoyed a local walk around the pretty houses and church and viewpoint on the hill. There are a couple of shops to get what you need, a nice cafe, a bakery and some charity shops - all walking distance. Enjoyed chilling in our room, listening to birds chatting as the sun went down. Lovely place!

Because it's an old building, you can hear other guests a little (we were unlucky, as our neighbours were being very noisy and letting their kids play and shout past 11pm on one night but the staff sorted this for us!) The floors are a bit creaky as people move around. It would have been good for the sink to have a plug to be able to wash your face.

We had to order breakfast the night before which is a new thing at this hotel. In the past we've paid for breakfast along with the room.

The rooms and upgrades are first class. A couple of arm chairs in the room would have been fabulous.

Had a one night stop off on a mini tour of Yorkshire. Rooms were very nice. Bed very comfortable. Plenty of tea/coffee milk. We were made to feel very welcome. We ate dinner in the pub which was delicious. Perfect stop over.

Everything was of a quality that surpassed my expectations. The bed was really comfortable, the toiletries smelt divine, conditioner was provided, the lighting was perfect and the design and quality of finish in the room was gorgeous. We didn't eat there as we had to dash off early but the options seemed good. The staff were super friendly and helpful.

The fan in the room was quite small. It wasn't a problem for us, but perhaps a bigger one would be needed in a heatwave. I'm not sure if these are available on request.

I did not have the breakfast. I would have preferred to have lighter options such as granola, yogurts, other ceral choices.

A few little things need sorting to make it perfect, the toilet roll holder was hanging off the wall and the TV bracket could do with being able to move so you can actually watch the TV more comfortably. A couple of seats in the room would have been nice too.

We had a lovely 2 day stay and thoroughly enjoyed it. the breakfasts were very good and tasty. We also ate in the evening and the food was outstanding and good value for money. I will definately return , and can highly recommend

everything was ok no complaints!

There was a hiccup with our allocated room as it would not lock but we were very promptly moved to a different room with apologies. It was very well equipped & very comfortable. Both breakfast and dinner were excellent. The staff were very friendly and helpful.

The food for both Dinners & Breakfast were very nice indeed It's difficult to give a proper review at this time as the property & business has recently sold and the take over is planned in March, therefore many options were not available.
