The absolute best the views are amazing. But thats all rooms are beat up bug infested. Just checked in today and we may search tomorrow for somewhere nicer to stay. When we checked room was very hot ac was turned off there is no insulation to keep it cool. The door has a massive air gap can nearly fit a finger through the massive warped door from the frame. The toilet seat doesn't even come close ro fitting the toilet lol how can someone mess that one up.
Fantastic resort in Soufriere. Beautiful views of the city. Very clean room. Pleasant, friendly staff that are very accommodating. Great little restaurant on-site with some delicious meals (highly recommend the Jamaican burger)
We stayed 4 nights at La Haut and it was simply wonderful. So private and quiet, the plantation style buildings and main house are beautiful, but the grounds and views are exquisite. All staff were helpful and friendly. The infinity pool was lovely, with panoramic vistas that are just breathtaking! The restaurant on the property was also very good. Delicious food, good service, and also incredible views. Comfortable 4 post bed, all conveniences in room, plus an amazing deck overlooking the Pitons from your own hammock. We will definitely be back. If you are looking for a romantic getaway that is unique from a traditional hotel experience, this is the place.
Amazing views close to Soufriere. Very relaxing by the pool. We loved everything about it. Hope to be back soon.
Amenities not as described (landscaping staff housed below our room; only one pool available; no fresh fruit plate in room every day; on site restaurant was cash only; did not always have hot water for showers; in room safe was broken and did not work; could have been cleaner; wifi was spotty). Did not get the room we booked for our first night (had to move to another room for rest of our stay). Check in process was confusing and lengthy. The infinity pool and views were great! Owner and staff were very friendly.
It was a great location, easy to find, and peaceful. It is just up the hill from Soufriere. Resort has amazing views and friendly staff. The restaurant serves great food. Cottage was nice and bed was comfortable. Definitely recommend you have a rental car. Some of the property grounds were run down but staff was working on that while we were there.
Beautiful views, very nice staff. Needs major work on facilities. But The Views!!
STAY AWAY! This place is nasty, dusty, dirty, old, dilapidated and filthy. Tye bathroom was disgusting and moldy and the towels had brown stains. The entrance to the room was a busted double door that was secured only by a latch and from outside you can literally see inside the room through the spaces in the door. The entire premises is just nasty and unkempt. We didn’t even unpack our bags, we called Expedia immediately and they found us another hotel to stay.
We had a great stay at La Haut. The views of the the town and the Pitons from the property are amazing. The staff was wonderful. The food at the restaurant was delicious. We would definitely come again.
The resort definitely needs some work. But the views of the pitons is why you stay there. I will return.
Great view to unwind
Good things: the views from my room, restaurant and infinity pool were stunning. I loved reading books on my big patio with hammock. Not many guests which meant peace and tranquility. Nice area to walk around. Clean bedsheets. Very good, home made continental breakfast and good coffee. Extremely nice owners and staff on the premises which made the stay worthwhile. Bad things: I booked more expensive premium room. It WAS NOT as nice as on the pictures. The property has several buildings. There are 3 premium rooms. Premium rooms are closer to infinity pool with big patios with hammock. They are called cashew rooms 1,2,and 3. Room 1 is the one on the picture advertisement, room 2 was my room, picture of which I attached. Always ask for Cashew rooms #1 otherwise you get what you get. But still I liked it more than cheaper rooms closer to restaurant from which there is a walk to infinity pool and small patios without a hammock. Also the resort has great potential but is run down with broken furniture from the 70s and garbage of old cars, stoves etc. on the property. A little bit of cleaning and furniture upgrade and it would be a pearl. Breakfast is good but the same every day with eggs of your choice, bacon or sausage. Was enough for me to keep me full till dinner. I also was given fresh fruits every second day which was nice. The owners are very nice and I am pretty sure that stupid Covid contributed a lot to the current situation. As it was a retreat for me to relax and switch off, I still liked it.
When we arrived they couldn’t find our reservation, then the property itself looks like it is in disrepair, the pool is about a kilometre or more downhill from the rooms and at the owners house. Overall the property has a lot of potential, like if you could book the owners house itself that might be worth it, the staff were nice. I will not go back.
The view from the pool and restaurant were incredible and the staff at the resort were wonderful. Everyone was very friendly and willing to support your trip. However, the rooms were not clean and extremely sparse for the price paid.
Truly a gem of a place ! The views are simply beautiful / we booked this last minute only to be so impressed with the views of the Pitons from the infinity pool / paradise. You do need a car to get around but little gem of a place is comfortable and peaceful/ we had breakfast and dinner here and the food is simply excellent !
Very friendly staff
You can’t beat the most stunning Piton view and infinity pool in St. Lucia straight out of La Haut Resort.Friendly staff, traditional island rooms, local food, Pura Vida. Stayed there twice. We cant wait to be back soon🙌😍 highly recommend!
The view is breath taking of the pitons and the village below.
La Haut Resort was a fantastic place to stay. The room was large, clean, and the bed was very comfortable. The food was delicious and all of the staff were super friendly and helpful. One of the best spots is the infinity pool that overlooks Soufriere. It is gorgeous, especially at sunset. You would either need a car, taxi, or shuttle to get to town/the attractions. It was very close to getting to everything by car - I wouldn't recommend walking to town as there are no sidewalks. We had no issues since we had a rental and I imagine there are Ubers around to take you. You can absolutely hangout at the pools all day!
Complete rip off. Didn't get the room we booked specifically because we had a baby with us and need the space. Instead we were put in a room right next to the restaurant and not warned there would be a late night wedding party during our stay. Whole place falling apart and in dire need of an update. Not worth the money
First let me say the owners are very nice along with Edward as well ..... and the view is probably one of the best in all of Soufriere BUT..... the 2 bedroom unit was absolutely disgusting! It's obvious nothing has ever been done to update this at all!!!!!! For this very reason I couldn't recommend.
The probably and not really clean and a lot of stuff in the room need to be fixed, customer service close at four. We ran out of toilet paper. We had to wait until the next day night. bugs cockroach and mosquito in the room.
The property is nice. Beautiful view of the pitons. The staff is very nice. I had mentioned that I wanted to find a local restaurant outside of the resort, one was recommended to us. Whe
It was very peaceful and beautiful. The Infiniti pool was so beautiful looking over the ocean and mountains. I loved this place.
We chose to stay at La Haut for its stunning views, and it truly delivered. The panoramic scenery, especially down at the infinity pool, felt like something from a 5-star resort. The view from our room in Cashew 2 was equally impressive, making it one of the most breathtaking locations on the island. Dining was also a highlight—the restaurant served excellent food, and the complimentary breakfast each morning was a real treat. That said, the resort does need some updates. While our sheets were clean, they were stained and in clear need of replacement, which might bother some guests. Additionally, the lounge chairs at the infinity pool were very worn out; they’d stretched to the point where the bars dug into our backs, making them practically unusable. Despite these issues, we would still stay here again. The staff was friendly and attentive, and the overall experience was positive. However, I would recommend that management consider replacing some of the older items to improve guests' comfort. Lastly, the check-in area was underwhelming, which initially worried us, but don’t let it set your expectations for the rest of the resort—it only got better from there. Overall, we’d recommend this hotel for its incredible views, but guests should be prepared for a few maintenance-related quirks.
A piece of paradise, amazing view of the iconic St Lucia Pitons, infinity pool out of this world, had an amazing time and is one of a kind- I have travelled the world and I can say this is one of my he most beautiful views from the balcony and room
I had made a reservation and paid fully in good time for the coming New Year's. On 12 Oct they sent a message and cancelled my reservation because of renovation works and the resort closing on 1 Jan 2025. Of course it is quite late to book another hotel for New Year's now. Also, they did not automatically reimburse me but told me to contact hotels.com for getting my money back. It took two contacting and then they reimbursed but not fully. Surely the explanation is that I had been given a price in Euros the internal currency is probably USD. However, I don't understand why this should be my loss, not their's.
I'm unsure where to start with this review as our experience was so disappointing, but I will say that we managed to get a partial refund through eShores, the agency we used to book our holiday. We arrived at around 5:30 PM on the day we landed in St. Lucia. Bearing in mind that we had flown to a country we’d never visited before and had navigated the challenging road from George Charles Airport to Soufrière in our own hire car, my husband was quite stressed. The office at the resort closes at either 4:30 or 5 PM (it seems to be whenever they feel like it), so there was no welcome other than a security guard giving us some basic information about where the pools were. The infinity pool, which we were told couldn't be used after 5 PM because it’s the owner’s pool, was effectively off-limits. We were also informed that we needed to go to the office in the morning to get our breakfast vouchers and pool towels, meaning we couldn’t use the pool until then. The kids were impressed with the space. We stayed in units 9 and 9a, but that’s where the positives ended. With no other dining options and no knowledge of Soufrière, we headed up to the on-site restaurant for dinner, passing by the smell of rotting mangoes that lined the pavement. Mango trees are abundant in the area, and unfortunately, this smell was something we encountered frequently during our stay. The path up to the restaurant isn’t well-lit and is poorly maintained, so you really need a torch to see where you’re going. Once there, we received a pleasant greeting, but things quickly went downhill. Traveling with three children, we were excited to see pizza on the menu, only to be told “no pizza”. When we tried to order drinks, there was no orange juice, no apple juice—just local mango juice, which the kids weren’t interested in. The food was okay, but the service was very slow. After dinner, we made our way back down the winding hill to our rooms. When I went to adjust my pillow before bed, I discovered it was filthy, with a stained pillow underneath a second pillowcase. I threw it on the floor and didn’t dare check the others, as I still needed something to sleep on. The next morning, we got a better look at the surroundings. The view was beautiful, but that’s about the only positive aspect I can recall. We trudged back up the hill for breakfast and had to wait around for 10 minutes while my husband collected 35 breakfast vouchers! We were staying for 7 nights with 5 people, so apparently, each person needed a signed scrap of paper. Having seen an extensive menu at dinner, we looked forward to a variety of options like pastries, fruit, yogurt, and cooked dishes. But we were disappointed again. The breakfast selection was extremely limited: a small pot of beans, eggs (the resort has egg-laying birds), toast, a minuscule saucer of fruit, and a tiny bowl of yogurt. When I asked for mango juice, I was told “no juice”. The drink options were tea, coffee, and water, even though the nearby table had juice. Remember, there are mango trees and mangos everywhere! The second morning’s breakfast was a complete disaster. Half the napkin sets didn’t include spoons for the yogurt, and while pouring my tea, the waitress knocked over my 4-year-old daughter’s water, which soaked through the tablecloth and dripped onto her. When I tried to catch it before it fell, the hot water pot dripped on me, burning my hand. The waitress giggled, took away the empty glass, and never returned with more water, leaving my daughter without a drink. The breakfast options didn’t change, and you couldn’t have anything beyond the limited selection. My husband had bacon one day and sausage another, but it seems you can’t have both on the same day. The resort’s facilities were no better. The washrooms near the restaurant were dirty, smelled terrible, and the hot water tap didn’t work. We couldn’t get hot water in our unit, either—not in the bathroom showers, taps, or kitchenette. My husband had one cold shower during our stay. I complained to the office and was met with a surly response. One woman was packing up her bag for the day while another told me I needed to "pull something to one side"—whatever that meant. Needless to say, nothing was done about it, and by the time we checked out a day later, my two emails about the issues remained unacknowledged. While the view of the Pitons was lovely, we were also within earshot of a man having loud phone conversations on his porch, which made it hard to enjoy any privacy. Every time my husband went outside, he was barked at by a large German Shepherd. The resort grounds were littered with discarded items. Not far from our balcony was a large blue plastic barrel used as a water butt for a leaky gutter, which created a deafening noise of water pouring onto plastic whenever it rained. Speaking of rain, the noise was so loud inside the apartment that we had to shout to hear each other. The roof leaked in several places, including onto the kids' bathroom, which had a large, uncovered window that allowed anyone walking by to see inside. The leak also soaked our daughter’s bed, making it unusable for the night. Since the office was closed, there was no one to help. The morning after I discovered the dirty pillow, I checked the others. Most were okay, but my husband’s was stained. I was particularly horrified to find yellow granules inside my pillowcase. When I inspected it outside in better light, I realised the pillow was so old it was literally breaking down. The linens may have been freshly provided, but they were used to cover pillows that were falling apart. The next morning, after the cleaner had been in, I found a large brown stain on the turned-down sheet—completely visible. It’s hard to believe that they didn’t even try to hide it. And isn’t it standard for hotels to use white linen so stains can be bleached or boiled out? The entire apartment was dirty and poorly maintained. The table, which was meant for 2 people despite us being a party of 5, had marks on it. Dead bugs were on almost every surface, the drawers had cobwebs, and the corners of the rooms were dusty and dirty. The sinkholes and toilets had old water stains, and under the beds was thick with dust. The cutlery and crockery were mismatched, and there wasn’t enough of anything. We bought a watermelon, but there wasn’t even a decent knife to cut it. The exterior wasn’t much better. The balcony chairs were falling apart and looked nothing like the lovely furniture shown on the website. The furniture at the pool was completely different from what was advertised and was covered in mildew. The pool itself was about a foot too deep for our tall 4-year-old, so most children around that age wouldn’t be able to swim safely without a parent in the water. Both pools are 4 feet deep, with the pool near the restaurant having a green coating down one side. I told my children not to put their heads under the water after seeing a man filling it with a hosepipe the night before. The owner’s pool was cleaner, but both pools seemed dangerous, with large drops on one side. You wouldn’t want to play pool games and risk losing a ball or frisbee over the edge. I was also wary of standing on the balconies at either the restaurant or apartment 9, as they seemed to be supported by a makeshift assortment of cement blocks and tree stumps. The apartment balcony made me particularly nervous. All in all, this was one of the worst holiday experiences we’ve ever had. We left on our second morning and relocated at a cost of over £3,000, which was worth it to be much happier at our new location further north. Had we not done that, I was seriously considering trying to get earlier flights back to England. My daughter was so unhappy she wanted to sleep in the car. I’ve since read many negative reviews of La Haut, and while management claims to have addressed concerns and listened to feedback, I don’t believe they have. Some of these comments are years old, and our experience was no better. It’s not hard to clean up messes, thoroughly deep clean, and fix what’s broken. Clean the windowsills, clean the tables, make sure guests have clean bedding. Get the restaurant to buy juice and some pastries, and provide a bit of butter—the portions were so stingy we had to keep asking for another pot of butter, another spoon, more tea bags. This is the hospitality industry; be hospitable. If you can’t do that, why are you doing it? We didn’t feel welcomed or looked after at all, and it’s a crying shame because with such a beautiful view, you could be a premium location for travelers to St. Lucia.
Check-in closes 4pm which is really early. We already knew this so were prepared, but there were not enough towels in our room as they never stored them for the pool. We had two rooms, and one of the rooms ac did not work well. There were a couple issues and no one there to address them. The staff did not really care what your issues were. The rooms were below average. The best thing about the property is the views. The views were unbeatable, especially at the infinity pool and during breakfast. The only reason to recommend this place is for it's views if you are ok with below average rooms. It's pricey considering the rooms you get but the views make it worth it.
Very quiet and relaxing place to stay. While the resort itself is somewhat dated, the rooms are clean and comfortable. The beds are very comfortable and you cannot beat the views of the Pitons! We would definitely return here. We had a very nice stay at this resort.
Where do I start. Someone else's hair was in the shower, ants wete all over the counter and floor. Dead mushed mosquitoes on the lamp shades and side tables. The toiletries were half used and I'm currently hiding and will be sleeping in the bathroom for the night because I just saw a bat in my room and no one has responded back. I will be requesting a refund. The property itself though has a beautiful view of the Pitons.
Gorgeous properly and awesome staff. Beautiful views, first class hospitality and everyone is so accommodating and helpful. The only thing I would say is the wifi isn’t super reliable for working remotely if you have to do video conferences, but we made it work. The staff was willing to reset the router when I asked and helpful with so many other things. Truly an exceptional experience and our favorite stay of our trip.
I arrived at the property as a solo female traveller and there was no one there. There was no security on gate and the office was locked up. This was at approx 4.40 on a Saturday afternoon. There were a few people in a seperate bar area but they said hotel nothing to do with them and ignored me. Luckily taxi driver waited with me for approx 30 but in end took me to another hotel. I was devastated after over 18 hours travelling. More over life reported this to Expedia and they have still not refunded me even though I had to book another hotel through them for the night at over $300
Maybe we were just lucky but it felt like we had the place to ourselves, whether in one of the pools or at the restaurant. What little service we required was met with a smile and a quick response. The views are unbeatable, too. We’d definitely return.
Loved it
Best view, relaxing gorgeous infinity pool and loved the cashew room! Our balcony was huge with hammock and chairs, mango tree outside and horse and donkey nearby. Food was only ok but this was a great first night on the island, felt very welcomed and comfortable!
Beautiful grounds and awesome views
Ok, so we only stayed here because our flight got cancelled and almost everything else was already booked. It beat sleeping on the airport floor. That said, La Haut is not a “resort” by any stretch of the imagination. It needs some serious TLC and I would not stay there again. Nevertheless, the view was beautiful and the food at the restaurant was delicious. We made the best of it.
Don’t get me wrong the scenery here is beautiful and somewhat breathtaking. Though how long have you got until you actually die… I believe it very much depends on what you’re looking for coming here. It’s beautiful to relax, though neither convenient or luxurious. Extremely basic, like back to 1960 period. Big enough space, though more like a campsite amenity. An old fridge the age of Methuselah himself and air con whilst effective very restricted to one small area. You get what you pay for of course. Breakfast is… rationed and very strict on the menu; an elaborate twist on choice of eggs; fried scrambled or boiled and meat is ham or bacon? Though adequate. The breakfast waiter was such a pleasure. His manners, respect and attitude was second to none. Really wish I’d remembered his name. Lovely, humble guy studying graphic design. Really wish him all the best and hope he excels in life! There are no facilities on site - not whilst we were there anyway. I left behind a pair of trainers - and they arrived to my next designation in a day or two, totally unexpected, which was such a lovely gesture
Positives- great view of Pitons, (unrelated but on site) restaurant food good, fabulous infinity pool Negatives- 1.Accommodation-we are staying in a ‘superior’ room. It is not tired in its decor and furnishings, it is exhausted, i.e. circa 1930, In a separate stay a week ago.we had a different room with a lovely generous balcony with a view, but also tired , with a less than clean feel 2. Service- Got a problem after 4:00 when the closet of an office closes?Tough luck till the a.m. 3. Grounds- crying for TLC- discarded bits & pieces sprinkled about, cracks, potholes, and could be good commercial for before and after paint job, this being the before. 4. Location- either you have a car or you get ready to open your wallet for taxis
This place has INCREDIBLE views. The pictures don't lie... that's really what it looks like. If you're looking for some fancy/modern accommodations, this isn't the place. We found the rooms to be charming and comfortable. Kind of feels like staying in a cabin. The sound of the wind at night makes you feel like you're in the middle of the ocean. The restaurant was decent, they actually had some alright vegetarian options on the menu. Nothing special though and a bit pricey. The pool by the owner's house is not super close to most of the rooms, but it is absolutely worth getting to... one of my photos from the pool is now the background of my phone screen and it makes me smile every time I see it... view of a lifetime.
We love La Haut. This was a second time there. 9 nights of tranquility. Our flight was delayed. We got in late but the front desk arranged for security to show us to our room. Glender and Marvin helped us with beach towels, laundry, and taxis. We found the front desk to be readily available and always friendly. We stayed in Cashew #3. The room was beautiful. Large comfortable bed and spotless. A shout out to our housekeeper, Vern. She was very nice and did a great job. The view is second to none. Not only the Pitons but a view of Soufriere. Lovely at night. The sounds of the forest at night, a soundtrack to relaxation. We had beautiful sunsets and moon views. The room has air conditioning, it works well. The endless pool is spotless and the views incredible. A little bit chilly. We used swim tops for extra comfort. It is just big enough to do some laps! The property was once a fruit plantation. The grounds are lovely. Lots of birds, flowers, and fruit trees. There is even a donkey on site. Fun. This is not an all-inclusive resort were you never leave the property. This is a place to experience the real St Lucia and a great launching pad to the surrounding area. I recommend having a car, but it is not necessary. It depends on your length of stay and how much you want to explore. On Valentines Day we got a taxi and went to the Chocolate restaurant. The taxi was $50 U.S round trip, so that could add up fast. We took our car exploring daily. Two of the world’s best beaches. Anse Chastanet and Anse Manim are very close. You can also take a water taxi from Soufriere. If you like to snorkel or just swim this is top notch. You can use the amenities of the resorts for around $25 per person. Seems like a deal considering rooms at the resort start around $1000 per night. We also drove to the volcano, Gris Piton and Project Chocolate at Hotel Chocolate. Do not miss the Sunday market at Project Chocolate. Fresh juices were the best on the island. All easy drives from La Haut. We rented a Chevy Spark because it is tiny. Good for the narrow roads but had good clearance for the beach road. We have a friend in town, the Island Chef, so we did not eat at the restaurant at La Haut but a couple of times. The food is very good, but they seemed understaffed, so things move a bit slow. But it’s Island Time! I do recommend the restaurant. The views are fantastic. Our waiter, Shade was super nice and was working hard. We met La Haut owners, the Allen’s. They were super nice. On our last visit Joe was crushing sugarcane on a wheel powered by the donkey. He mixed the juice with Bounty Rum and shared with us. Then we talked a good while and solved all the words problems! I saw some reviews about the condition of the property. I have stayed in some funky places in the Caribbean. This is not one of them. Possibly a good analogy would be the difference between your large local supermarket compared to your local famers market. It’s not “fancy” but its’s comfortable and beautiful and everyone that works there greets you with a smile. Slow living at its best.
A bit outdated. I also didn’t like how staff wasn’t available throughout the night, accept for security.
From the second I arrived, which was late, a security guard greeted us. The room was gorgeous, the views breathtaking. Ms. Stacy the bartender amazing, Ms. Glenn, even the guard. I can't say better things about this place. My new get away. Thank you!!
Very charming and friendly with views to die for and good food.
The property itself was nice, and had great views and good outdoor facilities. The location was a short car ride to restaurants and a few beaches. But our room was pretty shabby, oddly laid out, and not particularly clean. The refrigerator leaked, and outlets didn't work in the bathroom and the walls were very thin (we could hear every move anyone made above us). The restaurant was very medicore, but had a great view. The restaurant and housekeeping staff were very nice, but the woman in reception was not at all helpful. All in all a very mixed bag.
The views of both Pirtons are the best.
I had a lovely stay at La Haut. I stayed in room 7 and had an amazing view of The Pitons. The staff way very accommodating and friendly. The restaurant was delicious. I will definitely stay there again.
The view of The Pitons are the best. A very comfortable place.
Great location. Outstanding views of the Pitons & the Bay. Infinity pool is very nice but old, half the chairs were broken. The buildings are very rustic but comfortable. Check-in was awkward, no sign where to go. Chef Shade was great. Very nice and food was good. We stayed in Cottage #7, Bed was comfortable & air conditioning worked fine.
The view from the property is unbelievable. The staff are so friendly and wonderful to talk to.
Great place to stay with amazing view of the Pitons! The staff was very helpful and friendly
Friendly staff, beautiful rooms and views, and lovely restaurants
This resort is 10/10 !!! this was my 2nd time visiting, we stayed in a Cashew Room and the VIEW WAS 10/10 !! The Guest Were Lovely and sweet. They even offered for us to stay an extra hour !! this is the best resort in soufriere ! the view is amazing !! you literally cant go wrong !! i will most definitely be visiting again and the price is reasonable too ! I LOVE IT !!!!!!!
The room was nice but there was no tv or anything audio wise. It would be nice to have this. There was a roach in my room which crawled my skin. Insensé the room was beautiful but the bed was sinking. The infinity pool was magnificent although it can be cared for better as there was a little spec of moss to the edges. I was entitle for breakfast but this was horrible. It was the worst I have ever. Had in any hotel. The mugs need to be changed. Nothing had taste. Place looked a bit eerie to me. The staff was wonderful. Beautiful place but I won’t return ! Oh except for the infinity pool and the magnificent view of the pitons. They could have had a welcome gesture. Also the rooms are not blacked out so even if u don’t want to wake up early I have no choice. Hope they renovate this beautiful place ‼️🙏
The location and views were amazing. It was not conveniently located, but it did not matter, as i had a car. The room was large, quiet, and very comfortable! The staff was pleasant. Great mini fridge. The only issue was the toilet. You had to ensure the tank adequately filled up before flushing. Sometimes the rubber piece attached to the chain the the tank did not properly cover the valve, so the tank did not fill. It was an easy fix. I will visit again and i will recommend friends and family to visit there!!
There was nothing to like or do
The views were spectacular, restaurant was delightful. BUT, if you are looking for a quiet, tranquil setting, and for peaceful sleep, this may not be the place for you. The first night in the Deluxe room, we heard a steady flow of noisy cars going by on the very nearby road, with music blasting. It kept us up much of the night. In the morning we went to the office where they said they had a “quiet” room for us, the Honeymoon Suite. That night a dog barked out our window all night. There were many quail in small cages, which chirped every time the dog barked. At 10:30 that evening I drove up to the office, which was closed and no one to talk to. The security guard told me it was the owner’s dog. He said it is an ongoing problem. He also said he “could not talk to the owner then “because he was sleeping.” The following morning, we packed up and told the office we were leaving and wanted a refund. Not only did they refuse, and did not so much as apologize, but claimed that we “were the first to ever complain about the dog.” We know this to be false because both the security guard and a server in the restaurant said it has been an ongoing issue for some time. We have since seen other reviews mentioning the barking as well. We were treated badly by this hotel, with no sense of them trying to make it right. We have since been working on a refund through Expedia and our credit card company. The hotel has stonewalled and even hung up the phone on them.
The staff and property was nice. Plenty parking space and beautiful views. The rooms were clean and spacious. The downside is that theres so many mosquitos and you can hear the chickens and roosters all night long. Breakfast is included but there’s one waiter and 1 cook which took a long time (about an hour) just to be served because there were other tables to tend.
Property has excellent location and outstanding views. Room is big and spacious. But it lacked basic maintenance. AC was not working, there was no hot water, wifi was not working. Staff told us that the infinity pool closed at 5, but we were able to use the pool until late on day 2.
Cons - Wi fi did not work. Very noisy dogs kept us up all night with the barking. No chairs on the balcony. Pros - location and view is amazing.
Pros: absolute gorgeous views of the pitons. Cannot be beat in the area. Air conditioning worked well. Bed- very comfortable. Kitchen; know there is a toaster, microwave, fridge and sink. That’s it. We were given 2 glasses, 2 coffee cups, 2 bowls, and 2 plates. It was all we needed Wonderful covered porch to sit on They kept it very clean Beach towels provided and could be exchanged as needed Cons It is very very dated. Needs paint as every surface seemed marked up. The bathroom door handle was hanging on but barely. The shower handles - there were 3 but only worked. One actually fell off while we were there. The pool was pretty. But only two lounge chairs were available for around 12 guests. It also had algae in it as well and needed to be cleaned. We never made to the owners pool Location- Very close to most things in the area but you absolutely need a car. The town is very run down and there is nothing for tourist to do there. However there were some very good restaurants nearby. Also- I found there were many lovely other hotels such as Crystal Bridges nearby by with same rates but much newer and better accommodations and included breakfast. I would likely choose another location next time, not bc this place was bad- just better places for the same cost
Best views in the island. Nice amount of open space. Fantastic pools. Rural but not jungle
Some of the best views on the island. However each room could be brought to an amazing standard easily, a bit of paint and new bathrooms is all that is needed. Not sure why there is a 1920s style kitchenette in the rooms. Bar and restaurant could easily be best in town, just need some proper management and some small updates. This place could be 4 star if the owners were prepared to spend a few $100k. Over all good stay, very friendly staff.
We were disappointed with our stay at La Haut. While we knew it was an older resort that had not been renovated recently, we never thought we would have so many issues… Right from the start things got off to a rocky start. We had 3 families staying in 6 of the rooms. 2 of the families never had blankets on their beds the first night and we never - not once- had enough beach towels for all of us to use throughout the day. The ladies at the office just shrugged their shoulders when we asked what the rest of our family was supposed to use for the day. Terrible customer service. No one is at the office after 5 so if you have an issue - like no blankets or a a non flushing toilet - I guess you wait until morning?? Terrible. All but one of the nights we had hot showers and at best it was a trickle most days. The taps would hardly turn on and the hot water one barely moved. Could hardly get the shampoo out of my hair. Our door would not latch unless I used a knife from the drawer. Ridiculous that simple maintenance of things like this couldn’t be looked at. One night we had a dog barking the ENTIRE night. I hardly slept. When I mentioned it to the office lady the next morning she acted like it was my fault I never went looking for the security guard at 3 in the morning to tell him. Honestly- walking around a dark, non lit ‘resort’ to tell the security guard about a loud dog that has no business being there in the first place?? I think not. All of these issues just added up to a less than pleasurable stay. Yes- they keep showing the awesome views of the pitons and the infinity pool. They were amazing views! It’s just a shame that some of these simple maintenance issues couldn’t be addressed. For that reason I couldn’t give a decent review and wished I had been aware of some of these problems before we arrived.
The property is stunning, the view. It needs some general up keep, walls need painting, railings need painting just General stuff. But like it very much
Just stayed at this delightful property for 5 days. Not for the luxury crowd and more of an eco-experience, but we are seniors fro the US and found no comfort lacking! Delightful and extremely comfortable accommodation—large room, balcony with furniture and hammock; kitchenette, and best of all, a perfect view of the highlight of St. Lucia, the Pitons. Warm, friendly, helpful staff. Unforgettable visit! Highly recommended!
The property has a ton of potential but is need of some maintenance / upgrades. Hopefully with tourism coming back on line, the owners will be able to re-invest a bit. Things like lounge chairs at the pool, an umbrella, etc.would be great. The staff is incredible - so attentive that we felt spoiled.
Really lovely old plantation gardens and buildings with a view to die for. It is such a shame that more attention could not be given to the rooms. True ours was the basic and it was rustic but comfortable enough. But WiFi instructions incorrect; thin walls; no plates in the kitchenette and Spanish instructions on the microwave! Good value if not too fussy.
Beautiful spot with a great view. Rooms were clean and spacious. The staff was extremely poor. The grounds are not well maintained.
We loved our stay at La Haut - we stayed in one of the Premium Vista (Cashew Rooms). These rooms are more expensive but I'd say it was worth it for the private deck. Pros: - Gorgeous infinity pool with some of the best views I saw on the trip - Plantation vibes with animals on the premise and lots of space to walk around -Great service/housekeeping -Very comfy beds - Well-stocked kitchenette Cons: - The restaurant onsite that's privately owned was a bit of a letdown. Tips: - Bring a sleep mask as in our room, not all the windows had shades
Two couples spent a week at this resort. We showed up in the dark and were greeted by security who checked us into our rooms. Was expecting Mexico but was given Cuba. Old and broken was the design choice. We were hungry so went to the restaurant. It was 8 pm and they were closed but they decided to stay and feed us anyway. Meal was amazing and the drinks went down great. Woke up the next day feeling rested , it had been a very long trip. The beds are amazingly comfortable king sized. Opened the door and was greeted by the most amazing views. Ok so it’s growing on me. Went down to the owners pool which is spectacular. Met Joe the owner who invited us for a cocktail later in the evening. Had a great time learning about the history of the plantation and his family. We ended up having a really nice time here despite some things that need to be addressed. The good. Their staff are very friendly. The restaurant, which is contracted out, is very good. Setting cannot be beat. If you are a photographer…wow! Staff have nothing but good and positive things to say regarding pay and how they are treated. Very short drive to downtown Sufreir. The not so good. Lots of broken furniture in rooms and around the pool. Wife put her foot through the deck beside the pool. It’s rotten. It’s a creeper, voyeurs paradise. Windows have curtains you can see through easily at night right into the bedroom and bathroom. Noise from guests in the upstairs rooms. Sounded like a heard of Buffalo when anyone did anything upstairs. Internet in and around room is poor at best. Restaurant has very good internet. Lost internet due to router needing reset. Told front desk. Waited almost 2 days then mentioned it to security guard Glenroy. He fixed it right away. Our door would only close if we dead bolted it. We basically had to leave the key in it all the time we were there. Asked to have it fixed but it never was. Pool had two lounge chairs only. All in all we had a great time here, despite its flaws.
Great value for the money. The room was spacious, bed comfy, the view of Pitons from the balcony is utterly stunning. The room even has a little kitchenette, equipped with a small camping stove , few pots and pans and a tea kettle. It was extremely useful . Housekeeping was immaculate. The room was cleaned and refreshed every day while we were out and whatever issues we had were addressed and resolved immediately. Great location, you are about 5 minutes drive from Soufriere The infinity pool is breathtaking. Joe, the property owner is the definition of island hospitality and good vibes. Will absolutely stay there again. CONS: no TV in the rooms. Wifi is ok, but not streaming quality.
The best part of this specific resort stay was the view from one of the 3 cashew rooms and the view from the Infiniti pool (very close to cashew rooms). We came for this reason and it delivered 100%. The cashew room was also spacious with a huge balcony. The biggest let down of the place was the restaurant. There are many better and more reasonably priced options around. You will want a car if staying here as nothing is really walkable nearby.
The views from the property are breathtaking. The food at the restaurant was delicious. Spacious rooms/balcony
My stay at La Haut was an amazing experience, I loved every minute of it, the staff at the hotel, and the grounds were breathtaking. My friends got married at La Haut and I stayed here my first night, to be close to the wedding. I’m still in awe at the views, this experience was so serene. I needed a late checkout as I was checking into Coconot Bay Resort with the wedding party after my stay at La Haut and the staff was so easily accommodating. I would stay here again. The owner of the restaurant had a great hand in my experience as well, as he and a few other guests at the hotel were really nice during my stay. The menu at the hotel could use an expansion but the owner definitely has some really great ideas. I took photos to show other viewers my experience.
Pretty dumpy rooms. We had a cashew room, which did not seem to have been updated in over a decade. Doors didn't properly seal, so there were always bugs (mosquitoes, cockroaches, flies, etc.). The air conditioner was too small for the room size. The adjacent property had very loud music late at night. The views were good, and the price was low.
Quiet and quaint. The staff is lovely including the owner of the property. Charming property with beautiful views of the island.
The customer service, taxi service and view was great. This property amenities are misleading the air conditioning did not keep us cool. I didn’t get much sleep because of it! We were told the wife was supposed to be fixed since last week and still nothing. Thank goodness I had global on my phone already or I would’ve been in a world of trouble! The shower water was luke warm at best never hot. The security and taxi service were life savers! It was quite an experience but I will not be returning.
BEST VIEW FRIENDLEY STAFF FRIENDLEY OWNER NICE OWNER'S POOL YOU CAN USE FREE MANGO AND WAX APPLE
Do yourself a favor and don’t
The view of the two Pitons, the ocean and the town of Soufriere from Infiniti pool was awesome. This was definitely the best part of my trip in Saint Lucia. A nice restaurant is attached to the property. I wish I could have stayed longer at La Haut.
Gorgeous property and staff was incredibly friendly. An incredible deal as far as St. Lucia resorts go
First great point I got an upgrade from superior room to cottage. Excellent. Thank you Hotels.com. Check in process was painless. No issues. Cottage came lightly stocked with enough to get you to next day. King size bed with balcony overlooking the Pitons (one of St Lucia's National and heritage treasures). Cottage is a self contain Ed unit with refrigerator and stove etc so you can have an Indoor experience bringing own food to prepare or go to the restaurant. Did both and I have to say the food at the restaurant was top notch. We went down to the second pool at the owner's residence because that view was the most excellent. Owner was friendly and accommodating. Very easy going. Place is well maintained. Great amenities. Rustic. Beautiful. Would I go back. Most Definitely on a heartbeat
Beautiful location, with restaurant and an infinity pool. We really needed to relax and it was a serene place to do
We stayed at La Haut for four nights and really enjoyed our stay. Our first flight was cancelled so the hotel allowed us to move our stay one night later. We had an incredibly beautiful room with a patio overlooking the Pitons and the ocean, just like in the photos online! When we arrived, there were flower petals throughout the room. As well, we were given complimentary bananas and mangoes when we arrived. The only downside I could see was that we had to take taxis every time we wanted to go somewhere (to the town, to the sulfur springs, to hike Gros Piton, etc), but the hotel helped us find a reputable taxi service. As well, the main pool was only open from 8am-5pm (but was gorgeous). I would highly recommend staying at La Haut!
Nice place for the price. Helpful Staff!
Beautiful views from Cashew rooms, good restaurant on site. Staff was friendly and helpful.
A small, family run Caribbean style hotel with friendly staff
Amazing experience at La Haut Resort, the view from our room was breath taking and the beds were SO COMFORTABLE! We didn’t want to leave. The restaurant was good and open breakfast through dinner. The staff was very friendly and helpful. Owner Stephanie was also very warm and welcoming. We would definitely recommend staying there!
This hotel is not as it is pictured online. It is very run down, the restaurant closes at 3pm, the ‘infinity pool’ is not at the hotel and you have to be driven to the hotel owner’s house where you will find the pool. We witnessed upsetting mistreatment of staff by the owner and had to leave due to health and safety issues.
This resort is situated in a lovely wooded setting overlooking the town of soufriere & the pitons. The breakfast area is superb looking over the scenery with hummingbirds in the trees. Our room was large, clean & with a lovely balcony looking to the pitons. All the staff were very helpful & friendly.
Loved the views, best thing about the place. Didn’t like the fact there is no bar 5 nights out of 7, everything closes at 3 and all the staff disappeared at 5pm. It’s a very steep walk on a busy road to the town, not 15 minutes more like 45. Not recommended. You have to ask for a hairdryer for the room as there are non in there. They were refurbishing a room just 3 doors away and the drilling was off the scale, when we complained the owner said he would stop until we checked out. The drilling stopped but they carried on sanding , electric sawing and banging which is not what you want to hear when you are on holiday. Also the smell of fresh paint was toxic. There was absolutely no shade by the pool, their excuse was the winds destroyed them a couple of weeks ago. The noise from the staff arriving at 7 am then listening to tv shows/ music on her phone right opposite our room was totally out of order. Lots of chatting loudly with staff members again opposite our room in the early hours and later on in the afternoons was disturbing when you are trying to rest. The breakfasts were adequate, lunch was dreadful and took an hour for the food to arrive. The staff were friendly and helpful. The hotel is in serious need of an overhaul , it’s in a fantastic position and it could be fantastic, we won’t be visiting again.
HORRENDOUS EXPERIENCE!! We booked 3 (THREE) rooms and prepaid for them on EXPEDIA. Upon arrival, the only person available to speak to us was a security guard who told us they only had 2 (TWO rooms). When we explained we had prepaid for 3 (THREE) rooms, he merely shrugged his shoulders and said that is all they had. I had to sleep in same room and share a bed with my colleague. This is completely unacceptable. The service was poor, the room was subpar and there was a security dog roaming the property loose at night which was very discomforting. I would NEVER recommend staying here. To add INSULT to INJURY, EXPEDIA refused to refund the money for the one room paid for, but never received, claiming they are ONLY A MIDDLE MAN. Not only will I NEVER stay or recommend this resort, I WILL NEVER USED EXPEDIA again. BUYER BEWARE!!!
La Haut is not a hotel or resort. It offers rooms with breakfast. Some of the photos of the hotel are highly misleading, ie - we walked around the resort for 10 minutes and could not find the infinity pool ( apparently it is in the hotel owners own property premises). We checked in and were asked to leave a credit card for extras. This we found ironic given there is no way to spend money at this resort. The bar is closed as is the restaurant apart from for breakfast which is included in the rate. Hotel staff were helpful but not particularly friendly and lacked basic hospitality training. We were staying in Fond Cannes 1. The room had a magnificent view overlooking Soufreire and the pitons. Worth considering this room for the view alone. However it is approx 500-750 metres from the main hotel down a steep windy hill. If you don’t have a car forget it. The hotel do provide a shuttle service to the room but did not offer one back to the hotel & there is no phone in the room to call. Breakfast was very average with the hot food looking and tasting like it was heated from the day before. In summary this place provides reasonably cheap ( compared to other alternatives in the area) accommodation with a great setting and views to die for. But in our opinion you must have a car to make sure you can get out and about given the services the hotel offer are minimal. It is a crying shame that this place has been left to to its current state.
The only real redeeming qualities of this property is breakfast looking at the Pitons. Breakfast is only average. We do not recommend this place. Dogs bark when you are going to bed and starting at 5 AM. Employees are very LOUD in the morning, again waking you up. The rooms are very close to the road and traffic is noisy, yes even at night. The rooms are not dirty but not clean. There were spiders webs, with spiders, in the corners of our shower EVERY day, so you know it was never cleaned properly. One day we asked the cleaning lady to come back because we were changing and getting ready to go, and she never did come to take care of our room. The pool by the restaurant was dirty and we never saw anybody in it. OH, and the "Snack Bar" was supposed to be open every night, so the two nights we thought about using it, it was closed. Employees did sit at the snack bar and I saw a person inquire about it and they turned him away, how about that for customer service? I am sorry, but this is not a well-run place, maybe it was a few years ago, not now. Again, I stress, this is NOT the place to go. The infinity pool was the best part of the place and it is only available till 5 PM. We did meet the lady who owns the place and she seems nice, not sure she knows about all the problems that need to be addressed. The check-in person was OK but not very friendly. The whole staff needs to learn customer service. The rooms need to be updated and CLEANED thoroughly. I could go on.
La Haut is a special place! It has breathtaking views, great staff, wonderful breakfast, gorgeous infinity pool as well as some cute four legged animals on the property. (The farm animals were a major bonus for me!) Although it is dated and can use some fixing up, you can’t but help love it and call it home while you are visiting St Lucia.
We had to change rooms because the resort wanted to put us “offsite”. Offsite meant climbing a hill to get to breakfast and we were totally away from everything with no TV. The room that we were moved to was Filty and we found dust all over the room. The floors look unkempt and the refrigerator was not working. The bed was lumpy. I worn a slippers in the shower because it just didn’t seemed clean. The room had a odor which didn’t completely go away even when I sprayed Lysol which I did all over the room and bed. We were also told that this room was a downgrade from the one we originally booked but when asked about an adjusted rate i was told to contact Expedia. Suffice it to say I couldn’t wait to get out of there. I felt as if the pictures online were of another “resort”. We felt completely duped and wouldn’t think of returning to St.Lucia if we didn’t spend the rest of our stay at Stonefield.
the view of the pitons was very nice abd refreshing
