The room that we stayed in, was not in very good condition. The mini fridge was loud. Crack in the bathroom sink ect…
Everything
There was a dog barking next door. But it wasn’t too bad
Location
Loud noisy children and parents
The property was located on a quiet private beach. I chose the property because of its location close to friends in Nanoose Bay.
The restaurant had been closed on the premises.
the beach, the grounds are well kept
our room was tired & old bedroom sliding door would not lock toilet/shower room smelled like sewage hairdryer blew the back off & there was a broken plastic piece inside that made it go flaming hot - unplugged it & had to get s replacement handheld one (not sure if the staff ever check the equipment between guests) it was definitely not worth the extra $450 we paid to upgrade from a studio to a kitchenette for 3 nights given that it was known this room had repairs planned & it should have been discounted the facility looks old & tired, the restaurant is “permanently” closed we continually had to reset/replace room keys due to smartphones with magnets - everyone has a smartphone & it was a waste of our time & energy while on vacation we did not know when we booked it that the swimming pool is open to the public at large by membership & there is no exclusivity for guests our patio & adjoining suite patio was not private & conversations were overheard - it was a deterrent to sitting out on the patio another guest took her dog offleash to take dumps on the grass (2x that we know of) below us & walked away without picking it up
Location fabulous
Been here several times before and it is starting to show its age They should have sign up sheets for kayak use
Beautiful grounds and outstanding location
no air conditioning or on site restaurant
Location
Very noisy
Quiet, clean, fun
Location on the water and good sized room (although we did pay for it getting the 1 bed suite).
Outdated interior, which is different to the images shown on booking.com and my reservation. Clearly some rooms have been updated and some not. It was really poor on our last morning, before check out, that the one person with the key to open the men’s entrance to the pool could not be bothered to open it. It was then 45 mins late opening. Meaning I could t swim with my daughter (female entrance was opened but as there were no men waiting, the guy didn’t open it!). Total shambles. The place is clearly short staffed as well.
Location was great.
Brochure listed amenities that were available but: (1) the hot tubs were not working during part of our stay, (2) there were no badminton racquets, (3) limited use of kayaks, paddle boards, (4) basketball hoops but no basketballs Clean bathrooms (bath tub, sink, and toilet was not clean) and the sink and tub needed the drains unclogged. Quiet hours were not observed by neighboring guests. They kept us from sleeping 2 nights in a row. Reception acknowledged this but didn’t offer to move us to another area of the building when they knew the guests were disruptive to others.
Location
Definutely not worth the price. Nothing worked. Not clean. Noise terrible - can hear every word next door. No ice. Pool locked. Cheap coffee machine broke down twice. Paper cups. Not enough if anything. Small TV and no streaming available. No maid service. No instructions, guide or manual. Feels like this place is barely holding it together.
The beach area was wonderful. The Rusted Rake (nearby) was an excellent restaurant.
The rooms were underwhelming at best. The lack of air conditioning made the nights uncomfortable. We had to leave the doors open to try to get any sort of breeze into the sleeping areas. There was lots of noise in the evenings from the upstairs guests. Problems with the pools meant that our grandchildren were unable to swim on the 22nd of July. Although we were told the outdoor hot tub was open at the time it was not. There seemed to be a lack of communication between the front desk and the maintenance team. Quite frustrating to say the least.
We have returned to stay here three times because the location, spaciousness and beauty of the property and amenities. Everything seems very clean and well maintained and landscaping is beautiful.
Since there is no air conditioning in the rooms - which is well communicated beforehand, no problem - and no windows to open in the smaller suites, it would be nice if the sliding doors had a lock or security bar to allow it to be locked in a slightly open position for air flow. Also the smaller suites seem to have had their tables removed. No coffee table or dining table, even though there is an empty space where a table would go! For this price I think it would be reasonable to have a table to have a snack or play games in the room. Seemed like they were cheaping out on not replacing furniture.
The pool and hot tub and sauna is very nice. The change room had lockers and was clean. The grounds are lovely. We made use of the bbq. The staff was freindly.
Restaurant was closed. It would have been nice to have a restaurant open on site. The coffee machine was a one cup with pods. We had to go to the front reception to get a cup of coffee each morning as there was only 2 pods in room.
The bed was comfortable. The amenities were good.
There is no air conditioning, there were cobwebs in the elevator area. There was an enormous crane fly in our room.
Loved it
Clean and comfortable
The door to the outdoor spa was not operable. Food in the restaurant was just good. A bit of a hike to the beach.
The outdoor hot tubs were really fun and the ocean view was great.
It would be nice to have a coffee shop in the lobby.
The room was filthy
The size and location of the property was good.
The room wasn’t very clean. Bed was uncomfortable. Bathroom door didn’t latch closed even after maintenance checking the door. Not enough staff to freshen up the room each day I was there. Staff doubled booked another couple to my room on the second night. Hot tub inside the pool area was broken down and the staff couldn’t give clear answers as to when it was going to be fixed. Staff didn’t tell us the hot tub wasn’t working when we booked the room.
Location is beautiful Nice gardens & trails around the property enjoy nice walk Ground floor were step right out onto the patio dog friendly
With being on ground floor You can here people walking constantly above you
Great indoor and outdoor hotubs, nice sauna and pool. Restaurant had great food and good service. All the staff were pleasant and very attentive.
Drinks / cocktails at the restaurant could have been better. Rooms were cute with a nice view but sofa bed was more like a single person cot and was not clean. Property is not on the Ocean as it may appear in pics.
The facilities are good
Very noisy, the noise damping between rooms above and adjoining is poor
The staff were
Location. Amenities. Restaurant. Full kitchen. Outside hot tub.
The property was nice with a good layout near the ocean. We could walk around which was nice given we had our dog with us.
The room had an exceptionally strong smell of cleaning chemicals. It was overwhelming.
カヤックやパドルボートが無料で楽しめるたり、BBQできる場所がいろんな場所にあってよかった
暑かったのですがエアコンがなく、扇風機も風が弱かったため寝苦しかった。
Clean. Dated. Quiet.
Could you please have just regular cremo for coffee i am allergic to all flavoured creams. Suxked I had to leave resort for coffee in the morning
The staff were friendly and the location was beautiful. The property and the room were quite run down. We couldn't use the outdoor hot tub because the lock was broken. There were many things that didn't work in the room and the last morning we woke up there was no running water in the room.
I have stayed at Pacific Shores many times over the years and felt it was really worth the price. The staff was helpful, although some units are older they were comfortable and clean. The property is typically amazing with a great location.
This past stay was unexpected. I waited hours for Highway 4 to open due to a fatal accident, and finally, after 5 hours, I decided to book with Pacific Shores to try and get some sleep since it didn't look like I was going to make it home due to the highway closure. The room was outdated, which is fine except I hadn't planned on being away from home more than a few hours and I only had my charger cord for my cell and there were no options to plug that in in the room. The carpet had a bad odor, and the bed was very squeaky. Then, at 10pm, the power went out, and I couldn't find a flashlight. I was on the third floor and felt uncomfortable. Highway 4 finally opened, and at 11pm, I decided to leave as I didn't want to stay in a hotel room without power. My phone was only at 1%, and if I drove, I could charge it with the cord I brought. I went to the main desk to ask for even a partial refund, but the reception was not helpful and not friendly. I felt ignored by the resort. I know it is not the fault of the Resort that the highway was closed, that I had limited resources with me for more than a few hours away from home and that there was a power outage. The overall issue was the lack of support and communication, and I did not feel I was provided with any customer service or even human compassion for the situation. This stay cost me about $250 for a shower in an old tub and to watch part of an old movie on a squeaky bed in a smelly room until the power went out.
The location is a bit out of town but well worth it as the views are wonderful, and the private beach is stunning! great for people and furries! quiet, peaceful and tranquil. And very comfy beds!!!
Power outage and alarms deep into the night. No onsite breakfast.
Clean modern rooms, Beautiful grounds! Well manicured, so many amenities! I enjoyed the swimming pool, Sauna, great hot tub outdoors! Took advantage of the spa and had a fantastic massage! Gorgeous views from the Gazebo. Relaxed and enjoyed the ocean! Fantastic property.
Every amenity available for the enjoyment of all. Staff in restaurant was happy and efficient.
Oceanfront property. Nice indoor pool and outdoor hot tub. Room comfortable with small balcony. Restaurant ok to grab a bite and drink. Limited breakfast options as restaurant opens at noon.
Our room was not very quiet. I was told by staff walls are paper thin and no air conditioning. Very disappointed
Lovely location, enjoyed the outside little deck. Enjoyed pool and hot tubs. Gardens lovely, great walks. That’s all. Restaurant very nice.
Bed needed duvet cover, inadequate towels. Carpet dirty. Minimum supplies. Toilet didn’t flush well.
Very nice weekend visit.
Just a well laid out place for a beach/nature retreat near lots of amenities and restaurants. You must check out Rathtrevor Beach 2k away. both at high and low tide...crazy!
An outdoor pool would have been a bonus.
No maid service and did not know this at time of booking. Got email about it shortly before we left on trip
The staff were so amazing. My family of 4 loved all the amenities. Kayaks and paddle boards, the indoor and outdoor pools. We will be back.
Was a room with a kitchen...and we were the ones taking care . The place was clean on the arrival. Everything around the place was beautiful.
It was really nice for our family, the kids had a great time at the pools!
Hot
Location & kitchen
time to renovate- mattress & bathrooms - house keeping just adequate - restaurant staff just adequate
Beautiful location and grounds
We enjoyed the beautiful lookout points on the resort. Sunset near the fire tables was beyond gorgeous!
Having no AC is a big one! The room needed a lot more attention to cleaning. The shower drain was very slow going down, took a good ten mins to drain.
Lovely room ... Sadly our neighbours were cooking a twice set off the fire alarm at 10:30pm... They were also noisy... It would also be nice to have the option of tea in the room and milk.... The staff were helpful over this but shouldn't have to ask. Delicious supper was a bonus.
The staff were super professional and kind
The Bay Area was beautiful! However the rooms are very dated. No AC and the walk to the beach was further then the other properties.
Beautiful property with a ton of amenities. The beach was lovely to watch the sunset. Restaurant on site was awesome.
Went during the heat wave, no AC in room was the only issue.
Friendly front desk staff. The carpet in the room was filthy, the room was poorly maintained, poorly appointed and not clean. Kitchen light did not work. It’s our third time staying here and we were very disappointed.
The rooms were poorly stocked and did not have air conditioners. They didn't even have ceiling fans. The only window was a small sliding door with no screen. It was sweltering. We had half a roll of toilet paper and only two coffee pods for a two person, two night stay. We were so hot and miserable the second night we left at 5am.
The rooms were a bit tired and having no AC in the rooms at all is dated. The island regularly hits ~30C in the summer these days and with the recent fires keeping any windows open was not an option. With some work could be quite nice.
This place has all you need, on top of being beautiful! On the contrary to other reviews, I think they communicate their facilities very clearly online. Service was also great from the front desk, to the restaurant, to the activity rentals. Pacific Shores has an absolutely beautiful sunset location too. The rooms are more on the dated side maybe but the theyre comfortable and efficient (we were in the suite so we loved the kitchen and washer/dryer!!). Our whale watching tour was also canceled due to winds so we were so thankful for the kayak rentals they do for free. We saw a couple of seals breaching out of the water and the view around the bay overall was so nice. Would love to visit again.
I found the bed awfully uncomfortable. I have some health challenges and the temperature outside was over 80 degrees each day with NO air conditioning! I couldn’t believe that an establishment of this caliber had no air conditioning. I found a beat up old fan in the closet I dragged out but it merely blew hot air around while I tossed and turned on the hardest mattress I think I’ve ever slept on. . I paid for 5 nights and stayed one. Never even asked for a refund because everything I read was no refunds!! I left and then paid for a room in a 3 star hotel where the bed was very comfortable and they had air conditioning! Although it doesn’t list air in their literature they really should make you aware of it prior to check in so you can cancel if need be. They were in a heat wave so they knew what the weather forecast was. I also paid for all 5 days and received 4 bottles of water. I couldn’t find any restaurants on site but there could have been. Didn’t see any signage of such. Just an all around bad experience at Pacific Shores in Nanaimo! Was hopeful that it would be a nice relaxing stay on the water but was none of that.
close to the beach quiet location quick check-in lots of parking
-room was very hot with no crossbreeze. the only way to cool the room down was to leave the room door open. -walls were paper thin, we could hear every conversation next door -the room was dark as there was no way for the sunshine to get into the room given the buildings layout -the bathroom sink was cracked and there was toothpaste on the cupboard -pillows felt like they were filled with foam chips -restaurant wasn't open for breakfast and the nearest place to eat breakfast needed a car to get to -older furniture with lots of scruff marks
The amenities are great, especially with a young child. The restaurant was great and so was the spa. The beach access is plenty. The rooms are a bit dated and there is no AC in the rooms. We went during high temperatures and really struggled with the heat in the rooms.
The waterfront walk is awesome, you can borrow kayaks and paddle boards to explore more of the bay. The room was not clean, the floors were dirty, the bathroom mirror still had toothpaste splatter from the last guests, and there were mildew stains in the bathroom grout. The mattress was ok, but the bed frame was wobbly and hanging on by a thread. There is also no soundproofing between units so you'll hear everyone walking and talking in the units around yours.
We love Pacific shores, we have been many times as the accommodation and location suited our family. The improvements on the rooms are great and adding a spa is amazing.
No air conditioning is an issue, the fans provided are not powerful enough and the heat in summer impacts your comfort and sleep. , The discomfort of the pull out beds is a significant issue to my family also. ,
Great restaurant awesome food Rooms comfortable. Great stay
Upon check-in, the door to our room was physically open. We were missing several items in our 1 bedroom apartment: no sheets and blanket for the pull-out sofabed no sugar for coffee not enough towels no dishwasher tabs only 1 roll of toilet paper no salt and pepper no herbal tea not enough coffee pods In addition, one of our room keys did not work. There was also not enough soap to wash our hands for 3 days and the quality of the soap was horrible. Liquid hand soap should be supplied in both the bathroom and the kitchen. The property seemed nice but the lack of supplies and multiple trips to the front desk were disappointing to say the least.
The location, access to the beach, and view from our room was amazing. The staff were very friendly and kind too. The beach and location were what made Pacific Shores delightful! Having a kitchen was an essential piece for our family. A must when you have kids. In
Unfortunately, I was disappointed with the room we received. I took a lot of time searching for hotels for our family trip and to not receive what was shown was upsetting to say the least. -The picture of what I booked on booking.com did not match the room we entered. The picture online was a beautiful, renovated, up to date suite. Surprisingly, we received a run down original, out of date suite which was very disappointing. I did speak with the front desk and they were able to move us to a renovated room for our second night. - The room didn't have air conditioning which I thought was included in all rooms everywhere. Everyone has different comfort levels so having a/c was assumed to be available. Fortunately, the hotel had fans. - The pillows were very firm and over stuffed. I recommend you bring your own pillows if possible.
The particular unit we stayed in was quite outdated, there were others which had been updated. It was relatively clean but some areas needed a bit more attention (the kitchen cupboards doors/handles were sticky, there was lots of long black hairs throughout the unit). It is a resort/hotel however they don’t provide any room cleaning during your stay. There was no paper towel, broom/Vacuum cleaning supplies in the unit to tidy up the kitchen or other areas during our stay (1 week), when we arrived one bathroom had no toilet paper, the other only had a quarter of a roll. I called upon checking in a realizing this and asked for more to be dropped off, after many hours it still had not arrived and I went and found someone who would get it for me. As they don’t do room cleanings, they said to call when garbage needed to be picked up and place it outside the door. We did this in the morning and by 8pm, it was still there. When we asked the front desk if we should take it back inside for the night so an animal doesn’t get into it, or was someone still coming the response was “do you mind just taking it down to the garbage yourself?”. The grounds were perfect for our family and our stay, the amenities were perfect. The use of paddle boards and kayaks without an additional cost was a nice feature. Overall we enjoyed our stay, however if I were to stay there again, I would possibly look at renting one of the privately rented units, not one through the hotel to ensure an updated unit.
Beautiful property but the rooms need a major upgrade. I had silverfish in my room, the fridge smelled terribly and the sink took forever to drain. Excellent location but they need to upgrade and maintain the living areas.
1. No air conditioning in any of the rooms. Far, far too hot to sleep. 2. Extremely noisy. We clearly hear crowds outside til late. And hear full conversations from neighbors through walls. This was the worst sleep we had.
Spectacular views and Amenities! The grounds are extensive and include all the right things for a large group traveling together with adults and teens.
The location and beach’s access is great
Location is excellent and resort has lots of activities
Facilities feels a bit dated in the rooms
its good
Pool/ hot tubs and beach location.
Cleanliness
The hot tub, kiddies pool and indoor swimming pools were lovely. The beachfront was beautiful and provided many guests the opportunity to enjoy water sports such as paddle boarding and swimming. The restaurant on the property has a beautiful view, with nice staff and decent food.
I would have appreciated the maid service to check the rooms daily for shampoo and toiletries. It would be nice to have had 2 luggage racks for the suitcases.
Over all, we liked everything. The suite was well set up and worked well for us, with a husband who is unwell.
I think the prices are a bit over the top, My only other issue is that we were in unit 717A. Other than the balcony doors there were no windows that opened. It feels a little unsafe as a female leaving doors open, although I did as it was too hot. There were fans in the rooms, but that only circulates the air, it does not cool it. I did not NEED airconditioning, but it would have been lovely to have some fresh air, without worrying that someone might come in our suite.
The great: location and amenities (e.g., pool, hot tubs, kayaking, etc.). The average: room was in rough shape, bed not comfortable. The poor: paper thin walls that you can hear "everything", and our luck a loud group of 6 was next to us (4 per room.... ya sure).
Would not recommended- not spa like at all. Very deceiving
Location
The pool, hot tub, beach access, staff were great. Our room was in need of a renovation, bathroom tiles had mold, the cabinet was warped from water damage and the lack of air conditioning made our stay not very enjoyable. We acrually left a day early.
No AC, paper thin walls, bathroom smelled like mold.
Beautiful spot to stay in Parksville.
Beautiful grounds, but the rooms are a bit small and tired. Not big enough for a family as the pullout bed is awful so it really only sleeps 2 comfortably. The big downside to staying here in the summer is the fact that there is NO AIR CONDITIONING. Overall this was a bit of a regretful booking. We like that it’s pet friendly.
Rooms was decent, kitchen was under stocked to be useful. The cleanliness of the washroom was not very good. The toilet was a mess. No A/C so if it’s hot you feel it. Pool and grounds are very nice and the restaurant was good with a great patio facing the ocean. It’s nice to sit out on the lawn at night by the ocean
Kein Frühstück vor Ort möglich. Kein Zimmerservice.
Spacious. Loved outdoor hot tub. Quiet, clean, convenient, view of ocean.
The property was beautiful. The pub service wasn’t good , our anniversary dinner was messed up my hubby sent back and the service was terribly slow.
Loved the ocean view from the restaurant and the jet tub was nice 😊
Great amenities, amazing location, and very friendly staff
