This place was incredible, quiet, private and has every amenity you could need! The host Harold was very friendly and checked in on us a few times to see if we needed anything. Breakfast with a view of the birds will be something we never forget!

Full kitchen with everything we needed to cook which was a nice break from restaurants with our toddler and the self serve laundry was so handy! Great place to stay with a little one!

Everything. This was the last stop on our 3 week trip to Canada and it couldn’t have ended in a more wonderful place. The room was beautiful and view of the estuary was stunning. We saw humming birds, herons, bats a woodpecker and an owl. The location was great, but it was the owner Harold and his dog who were the icing on the cake, they made us feel so welcome, Harold gave us some great recommendations and was a pleasure to talk too. Thank you.

This is a nearly perfect place where you can truly relax and rest. The host is friendly and polite, and responds quickly to your needs. The attractions they introduced to us were beautiful and peaceful. We’re left with wonderful memories.

Das Apartment ist wunderschön gelegen und wir konnten beim Aufwachen die Vögel beobachten, die zur Futterstelle auf der Terrasse flogen. Der Gastgeber ist ausgesprochen hilfsbereit und hat uns tolle Tipps für Ausflüge in die Umgebung gegeben.

Everything, Harold was warm and hospitable, offered suggestions with things to do and restaurants. We stayed at The View Suite, the view was unbeatable. Harold was very prompt when the apartment needed attention.

The property was very comfy, clean & quiet. The surroundings of the property & outlook over the wetlands with the various birds we saw was above our expectations ☺️

The view from the living area was fantastic–magical, really. We could have stayed all day just looking at the scenery and the many birds that came to eat at feeders and nearby pond. The location was great, and the host provided many suggestions for where to go. The landscaping in general was lovely.

We found the bathroom cramped, with odd angles, a slow drain, and not enough shelf space, and the kitchen was a little dark.

Location is conveniently close to Comox, Nanaimo and Ladysmith, which were places I was visiting. The property is stunning with manicured gardens and beautiful views. Well appointed and spacious. Outdoor private tub was a treat.

Negotiating exit to road is a bit of a challenge, but viable.

Great location, gorgeous design and layout. Very private, lots to do or just do nothing. Would definitely go back.

Beautiful accommodation. Stunning view from large picture windows. Saw deer, hummingbirds, woodpecker and eagle. Local supermarket and liquor store a 5 min drive. So convenient for ferries at Nanaimo. Facilities were excellent including a washing machine and a drier. Barbecue was a bonus. Owner was very friendly and helpful.

Harold met us upon arrival and gave us a quick tour of the apartment and the facilities. He had put together a book of local recommendations for eating, walking and sightseeing. He had also created a map of the local area to show you where places were. The apartment was well provisioned and was very comfortable. The sunrise was also very spectacular.

Excellent location, excellent accommodation, excellent hosts. Being so close to nature and enjoying the peace and comfort was a perfect recipe to unwind, relax and explore this beautiful area.

Our stay at Inn the Estuary was absolutely fantastic - we truly wished we could have stayed longer! This beautiful area allowed us to completely unwind, slow down, and fully enjoy the peace and breathtaking nature around us. The comfort level was simply perfect - pure well-being from start to finish. The communication was excellent, and we deeply appreciated the wonderful conversations with Harold and his incredibly helpful tips about the region. Thank you so much again, for making our stay even more special. If we get the chance, we will most definitely come back!

Wunderschönes Apartment! Toller Blick, gute Ausstattung! Wunderschön gelegen! Etwas ganz Besonderes!

Wow, words cannot describe you need to stay as this was indeed an exceptional property with wonderful views and surroundings. We had been travelling from Scotland around Canada for 15 days and this was such a beautiful welcoming place to visit and stay. We stayed in ‘The view’ and it was just breathtaking, the accommodation was beautifully decorated and the views were incredible. We received a lovely warm welcome from Harold (owner) who went out of his way to make us feel at home, give us advice on places to visit during our 2 day stay which was wonderful. The accommodation was truly perfect in every aspect from design, comfort, cleanliness, hospitality and location. We were sad to leave and very much hope to return one day. Communicating with Angela ( manager/ owner) was excellent. The accommodation had everything we needed including air conditioning, cooking facilities, fridge, freezer and complimentary coffee, tea, sugar and fresh milk. We didn’t cook at the property as we visited the rusted rake a short walk from the property and ate there both nights which was perfect also highly recommend. Thank you so much for creating such a unique property we will forever have fond memories from our time at Inn the Estuary.

The view is incredibly beautiful. You feel like in a wildlife / bird observation with all the comfort. We loved the View Suite. Our best nights in Canada.

Wonderful location

A hidden gem. Stunning location on the edge of an estuary with wildlife on your doorstep. Our children were delighted to see the resident beaver each day. Harold the owner is so lovely and helpful. He arranged for us to kayak out into the estuary one evening. It is the perfect base to explore Nanoose Bay, Parksville and Nanaimo. Our only regret was that we did not book for longer.

Howard was incredibly attentive and the apartment was very peaceful and well appointed. Lovely quiet spot and a good hub for exploring the area. Could have stayed longer.

It is not a walking place. The area is beautiful but you need a car to get to walks, the sea, sites, etc.

The location was magnificent with a clear private uninterrupted view of the estuary It was so delightful be g able to observe the local wildlife from humming birds to eagles Harold is a gregarious and gracious host whose good humour and intricate knowledge of the area helped to make our stay even more enjoyable and interesting

The Inn is unique as it was designed and built by Harold, who lives on the property and is a great source of local information. The view is amazing and we even saw a bear amble past the patio one morning. Eagles and almost always around. Unit is modern and lacks for nothing. Highly Recommended.

The room was exactly as pictured! Beautifully and comfortably furnished. Cleverly designed to maximize the view from every angle. We especially appreciated the binoculars to get a good look at the wildlife and the coffee (milk & sugar) to get a good start to the morning. Harold, the host, was a pleasure to meet and the map & suggestions for area walks and restaurants was invaluable. Make sure to visit the Rusted Rake Brewery. Its a quick walk and was one of the best meals we had on the island.

amazing location and wildlife

Lovely location with beautiful views of nature from all the large windows. An abundance of birds came to visit the bird feeders outside the windows. It was extremely relaxing! The kitchen was well equipped and even had tea, coffee and milk. There was a BBQ , washer and dryer nearby. They thought of everything!

Bathroom was a little small

Tons of nature and the soaker tub being outside in nature was incredible. Harold was also incredibly kind and went through a lot of effort to make sure we were takeb care of

Lovely place for a getaway, really nice to look out on the estuary and watch all the birds and everything else going on. Rusted Rake just down the road is a lovely place to eat too!

Wished we could have stayed another day or two

This place is a hidde gem. What Harold has done to let us experience nature and confort at the same time is really unique

Inn the Estuary has a superb location nestled in the wetlands that run down to the ocean. Everything about the unit was excellent. Definitely upscale and definitely comfortable. We saw eagles, birds, beavers and other animals right from our window. Harold, the owner, was very kind and he gave excellence advice for o e of our day trips.

We stayed in Wetlands apt. It was totally quality throughout, with everything you needed to feel home from home!! Stunning views out of the huge glass front window for bird watching and views to the open water. The bed was so comfy with again quality linen. Lovely touch having an outside jacuzzi bath in total privacy !! Great big TV with Netflix and wall fire for ambience below! We went out on the kyacks at high tide , direct from property along the narrow canals to the sea, and found a seal!!! The owner, Harold, was one of those special hosts who can't do enough for you!!! Kind, helpful, and a real talent to have built such an amazing property!!! Little hummingbirds outside, loved watching them from my bed!! I could live here very happily!!! What a find!!! 3 nights definitely wasn't long enough, particularly if you have a car as a lot of interesting areas 10 mins drive. We visited stables for a ride, a lovely pub called Rocking Horse, a short car drive away. Supermarket short drive too!!I Can't say enough about this property!!

This was not our first time staying at Inn the Estuary, and quite simply it continues to be our family's favourite place to stay. In fact, our trip to the Nanaimo area was specifically just to stay here.

We loved our stay at Inn the Estuary - a fantastic building in an amazing location. Lots to do in the area, and the owners were very friendly and helpful. I even got to watch hummingbirds feeding from my bathtub!

We should have booked for longer than 2 nights, as it was so lovely.

Beautiful views from the room... This place is a hidden gem, feels like you are totally alone in the wilderness yet within walking distance to general store and liquor store. Short drive to pub and amazing walks. Harold was so welcoming and gave us so many great tips not only for our two night stay but also for the next part of our trip. Highly recommend ⭐️ Would love to return someday.

This was an exceptional experience. We watched all sorts of birds through the huge windows against the backdrop of the estuary. The property was smartly built and was very quiet, just birds, frogs and a water fountain could be heard. The host Harold was very friendly and told us about his adventure to build this place. A map of the region that he drew showed us parks, hikes, and restaurants. A comfortable tub on the patio in front of our room allowed us to relax after our hikes, surrounded by trees and birds.

If you love nature then this is the place for you. Harold has done an amazing job in making the property fit right into the surrounding landscape and the wildlife that lives in it. The apartment was spacious and very comfortable. there was not one thing that could have been better, thank you Harold and the Inn the Estuary for making my visit to Nanoose Bay even more memorable.

The "The View" suite really has a breathtaking view and is perfect for a relaxing weekend away. Great place to see some birds and other wildlife. Harold, the owner, happily shared his recommendations for local walks and places to eat. We'd love to come back here again in the future

The apartment had all amenities available for a great stay, though some seemed unused for a while, resulting in minor stickiness and dustiness. Overall, a very small inconvenience in an otherwise excellent stay.

Everything about this place and the location is stunning and we are so grateful to have found it and had the opportunity to experience a romantic weekend get-away for our 22nd anniversary. Thank you to Harold and the staff and we can’t wait to return hopefully sooner rather than later!

Bed too soft for my preference, but that is a personal and minor detail. The dvd remote and player didn’t work, but not a significant issue considering our overall experience.

My husband and I stayed at the Inn in September on our BC vacation. We had a nicely furnished spacious room with all amenities and a beautiful view! Harold, the host, was very friendly and helpful and had this lovely map of the area prepared giving you many ideas of places to visit and see. We only stayed for three nights but would have loved to stay longer.

It’s a wonderful place. The surrounding nature is so beautiful and the view from the big windows of the room is just incredible. The rooms are spacious, clean, nicely furnished. There is everything you need for a short stay - and if not, you have just to contact the owner, Harold. He was so friendly, helpful (he provided us great advice about the places we could see there) and at the same time discrete and polite! There are some canoes, so one can go through the little canal from the Inn into the river, there are balconies to enjoy the view - and one has even a bath, so you can bath on the open balcony watched by the birds! (If it’s not what you want, there is a shower in the normal bathroom, too). There was a beaver who came every day, and wild gooses and herons outside. Very beautiful, well-groomed Inn, with beautiful places nearby to enjoy the Canadian nature.

I have nothing to complaint about.

The property is one of a kind and the owners are really nice. Harold was always available to greet us, show us around and answer our questions. The small gift made by his wife is a really nice touch. This property is spotless, really well decorated and has the best views. The abundance of birds and variety of plants make it unique.
