Horrible experience – Unsanitary condition, missing basic amenities, and extremely rude staff

​I booked a stay at Hotel Riad from August 21st to September 4th. Unfortunately, my experience was an absolute nightmare, forcing me to cancel my trip early and leave on August 31st—five days before my scheduled departure. Even though I paid for the full stay, I could no longer endure the conditions. ​Here are the major issues I encountered during my stay: ​Severe Plumbing & Hygiene Issues: The sink in the bathroom was leaking continuously. Every time I brushed my teeth or washed my face, the water leaked directly onto the floor, keeping the bathroom floor constantly wet and unsanitary. ​Unbearable Room Conditions: The room had a persistent, strange foul odor. Despite the temperature reaching 28°C, the room had no air conditioning and not even an electric fan to make it tolerable. ​Continuous Noise Disturbance: Sleeping was impossible due to non-stop noise. Loud music played nearby, and people were shouting and talking loudly outside throughout the entire night. ​Hostile & Abusive Behavior: The owner's mother and younger brother managed the property, and their behavior was extremely rude and unprofessional. Whenever I asked for assistance or brought up these issues, they responded with anger and hostility. ​This stay caused me extreme stress and mental distress, completely ruining my holiday. I paid in full for 14 nights but was forced to abandon the remaining 5 nights just to protect my well-being. ​I urge booking.com to investigate this property thoroughly and process a full or partial refund for the unfulfilled days. This place is unfit for guests.

طولي 1.78 متر، والسداري قصير بالنسبة لطولي، فعندما أتمدّد بشكل طبيعي تخرج رجلاي من السداري، وأضطر إلى الانكماش وثني رجليّ حتى أتمكن من البقاء داخله. وايضا الجيران اسفل المكان الضجيح حتى تفوت 00,00 ليلا

Hello the problems we had with our stay here are they. When we arrived the lady in the so called riad she said they have no rooms i stated we booked 2 months ago when she heard that she gave us a room with no amenities no shower and no toilet ware when i mentioned we booked a room with all the above she said they didn't have one for us she called her son whom he was the manager of the property he said if we don't like it we should cancel it because he isn't responsible for the booking.com app and there was another person doing that i said i won't cancel and i want my room he stated i should resolve my issue with the one responsible for the app i want to search for him he has a bazaar in the old city he stated that i should cancel i said i won't cancel i want my room or I'll call the police since this is fraud i was there with my wife and the listing had what i asked for yet they didn't have the room when he heard that he said to me give me 2 days until another room opens up and I'll transfer you i said no problem after 2 days we were asked to pay the tax without us getting the proper room when we escalated they gave us the second room and law and behold it had a shower yes but no toilet so whenever me or my wife want to use a toilet we should go to a shared one and my wife is a hijabi i can't allow that and it was very inconvenient the room was dirty no hot water in the shower and the neighboring building had a cctv camera pointed to our room the terrace was falce advertised it was a small patio where the old lady lives and the rooms didn't oversee the old city the place has a strong amoking smell which was inconvenient to us we were expected to clean the rooms since tgey don't have a cleaning lady, i sent a message before confirming the booking if they have kitchen or kitchen ware they replied yes but when we arrived nothing was available.

La stanza prenotata da me aveva il bagno privato ma quando sono arrivata li mi hanno detto che quella camera era occupata e ho soggiornato in una camera all ultimo piano. Il wifi non funzionava,la camera era sporca di polvere ed in piu mi hanno fatto pagare una tassa di 3 euro che non era stata assolutamente inclusa nel prezzo e che probabilmente è qualcosa che hanno fatto loro per guadagnare di piu.

Très bon accueil de Karim, qui veut absolument que tout soit bon pour les locataires Hosni est une perle qui gère d'une main de maître les petits bricolages, les plannings check in check out, qui trouve des solutions pour chaque question ! Bravo !

La prise dont les fils sont bien apparents, le linge de bain taché ( j'ai demandé d'autres et Hosni a été très efficace) Les murs de sdb tachés Le sourire absent de la dame de maison!

La ubicación es muy buena. Tiene una azotea con vistas interesantes. La que controla el edificio es muy maja.

Booking no nos dejó muy claro la habitación que habíamos alquilado, así que cuando llegamos tuvimos ciertos problemas con el dueño y la que llevaba el edificio allí. La señora llamaba al dueño por teléfono, y cuando estábamos haciendo el checking, tuvimos una barrera de lenguaje muy grande porque sólo hablaba francés. No nos dieron llave de abajo, y sí que es cierto que la señora siempre estaba disponible para abrirnos la puerta y tirarnos las llaves, pero te hace pensar que si ella no está disponible, o es muy tarde, no entras al edificio. Pero bueno, nos conseguimos arreglar y bien al final.

Bien situé et les gérants Hossni et sa mère très sympathiques et serviables et la chambre grande et la salle de bain incorporée

Équipements vétustes, problèmes de plomberie, pas d’eau chaude au début heureusement Hossni a bricolé et réparé Pas de savon à main, pas de wifi au début non plus.

An exceptionally kind and welcoming host who helped me with everything I needed. I felt very comfortable throughout my stay and will definitely come back. The location is very central, with everything you need within walking distance. Highly recommended!

Karim is uiterst gastvrij en doet er alles aan om aan specifieke verzoeken te voldoen. De gastvrouw van het gebouw klopte een keer aan om te vragen of alles naar wens was en wil ook graag koffie of thee zetten. Dat heb ik zelf nog nooit in een hostel meegemaakt. Hij heeft ook 2 andere geusthouses. Golden house en de andere weet ik de naam niet. Daar kun je op het dak ook eten , en dit verblijf is van binnen een half paleis. Ik was er van onder de indruk wat hij daar van heeft gemaakt. Golden house jadida is de naam dacht ik. Zijn vrouw en kinderen helpen soms ook mee , en dat geeft wel een hele leuke sfeer als je ze op straat ook weer tegen komt

Dat Marokkanen niet om 11uur naar bed gaan

Location is great because you are in the historical Portuguese site. Breakfast is fantastic. And the stuff is great. Good stay for the value of the money

the new owner Karim is very helpful and responsive, also very knowledgeable about the city and does offer guidance and suggestions, the place is neat and clean with all the necessities, the rooms are spacious, and the location is just around the corner of the historic monument the Portuguese citadel which contains the Portuguese cistern.

Bella camera con bagno privato e un bellissimo terrazzo che si affaccia sul mare, si trova in una posizione molto comoda, Karim è molto gentile e disponibile. 5/5

La localisation, l'hospitalité et la disponibilité de l'hôte. Karim est très avenant, disponible et de très bon conseil, il prend le temps de vous conseiller et de vous montrer les choses intéressantes à visiter, je le recommande.

The sleeping room and the bathroom were very simple but clean. The location is in the center of the old Medina not far from the sea.

The host obviously didn't speak English and possibly not properly French (I assume only arabic). So the communication was very difficult (only with gestures).

Extrêmement chaud et bruyant pour s’endormir, la dame qui y vit ne nous attendait pas ! Arrivés comme des cheveux dans la soupe !

This budget room is to be found in the "Cité Portugaise" of El Jadida: in it, close to the eldest parts of this town. I took a taxi from the train station (15 MAD) who let me out at the entrance of the old town. I had to find the place on my own there. The room was basic but I could get additional help from the owner's mother (who lives upstairs) with everything I needed.

I had some difficulties in finding the place but friendly locals led me to the door.

Location inside the Medina is very handy to everywhere. Great view from the rooftop.

Je me suis retrouver avec une fuite dans la salle de Bain et personne ne s’en est occupé ! Le drap dans le grand n’était pas un vrai frap, et ça n’a pas arrêté de s’enlever ! Il y avait également une mauvaise odeur dans la salle de bain Et je sentais que le ménage n’avait pas été fait quand je suis arrivée L’arrivée était compliqué également Il est inscrit sur booking que je dois payer une certaine somme pour les charges, somme que j’ai réglé, et on me demandais plus ! Le frigo mériterai également d’être nettoyé il y avait une mauvaise odeur Je me suis également retrouvé avec une lavette toute sale et mouillée au sol ce qui pour moi n’est pas acceptable Même si le prix est raisonnable ce n’est pas une raison pour néglige le ménage

L'accueil de Karim, puis de son frère Yacoub a été exceptionnel. Ils m'ont offert le thé, conseillé plusieurs choses, dont un hammam! L'emplacement du logement est vraiment super ! Dans les remparts, a proximité de tout ! C'est très calme et on entend même l'océan ! Pour moi le meilleur est la terrace, avec une magnifique vue sur l'océan !

Неплохое расположение, по сути на территории старой португальской крепости. Просторная комната, отзывчивый персонал.

Всё очень простенько, примерно как в индийском гестхаусе за 10 евро, но в целом чисто и всё необходимое есть. Душ в номере, а туалет отдельно за пределами. Управляющий говорит об н французском ,но мы друг друга понимали. Неплохо, чтобы остановиться на одну ночь, а на большее в Эль Джадиде и делать нечего

El baño necesita una REMODELACION YA...perdía agua continuamente. En general la habitación normal, muebles muy viejos. Pero la ubicación lo mejor. En plena Cité portuguesa.

Très franchement la salle de bain n'est pas très engageante. En plus il y avait une fuite ce jour là. La prise de courant est loin du lit. Serrure cassée. Je ne comprends pas les gens qui mettent 10, c'est trompeur.

Location in the Medina was excellent!! It was great being in the center of the small Portuguese city. The host (Hassan??) served us tea and made us feel so welcome.

It’s always tricky to find places in Medinas since there are no street names. But that’s also part of the adventure.

The original owner is not responsive, you need to talk to Hosni directly; the room and blankets were too dusty, this made me have allergy ; you need to close the water during the night because it's too noisy if it's open ; the taps could be cleaner.

They never sent me a single message, they didn't answer the texts/calls, they didn't answer to knocking at the door or ringing the bell. Nothing. I was left without accommodation and I had to find a new one. I would say terrible communication, but there was no communication at all. Lost money.

Very nice location in the Portuguese City and with a pretty rooftop terrace to sit on.

The host was friendly but a bit difficult to communicate with. We were told that the kitchen is private, even though it is listed on the booking. Upon insisting he still allowed us to use the kitchen as an exception, but it was a bit confusing and uncomfortable.

Everything, nothing was like they show in the app, i didn't stay there, they was rebuilding the room, there was mattress against the wall, two kids bike inside, the floor was disgusting, and the couple (landlord) was fighting for more than a half hour, i tried to get refund, but i didn't have an answer

The room was not as described on booking.com. Toilet outside the room, no tea/coffee making facilities. The waterboiler for the shower looked so dodgy that I didn't dare to use it. The room looked very run down and was not very clean, the linen smelly.

Host was a really nice guy. You are in the center of the old town. There is a rooftop where you can see the wall of the old town and the ocean! Nice and quiet place. If you want breakfast it’s available for few euros.

I paid an additional 18 € for the room ( 9 € per night, without my prior consent. Room was cold, humid, without heating, in humid winter Room and bedding of lowest quality.

Family-run riad . Host was very kind and welcoming and made me mint tea . Good comfy bed and room. Located on a quiet back street in the old portuguese medina so i had a good night sleep.. Rooftop terrace with great view of sea and medina.

Some facilities need updating .

Der Host war super freundlich! Obwohl wir zu spät ankamen, war es kein Problem für ihn und wir wurden sehr willkommen geheissen. Das Frühstück wurde persönlich für uns zubereitet und war sehr ausgiebig. Unser Zimmer war sehr sauber und gemütlich und angenehm warm. Sehr zu empfehlen!

Host Hosni was generous with his welcome and his time - very helpful. Bed was really comfortable and location great & easy to find.

Not a dislike, only a requirement for small upgrades, repairs when finances permit - such as replacement hot water heater in bedroom wc. Bedside lamp requires switch.

Enfant marocain récalcitrant j'avais des doutes en arrivant... très vite effacés dès la rencontre du responsable : Hosni 👍👏👏👏 J'ai rarement rencontré quelqu'un d'aussi honnête et sincère, merci sidi Hosni pour ces moments de partage au petit déjeuner et surtout pour ta réactivité... pour info, sache que nous avons échangé entre "co-clients" et tous t'ont apprécié Je recommande Dar El Jadida à ceux et celles qui aiment découvrir le VRAI Maroc La cité portugaise est riche d'histoire et de beauté, Hosni en est le garant intime El Jadida "Mazagan" vous attend Encore merci Hosni... et évidemment, à l'année prochaine inchaallah

宿近くは夜や早朝はひと気が少なく、少々怖い。ポルトガル都市に泊まりたいという人なら問題は無いと思う。エアコンは無いので冬は寒い。
