Perfect, quiet location set in beautiful grounds. Staff were attentive and welcoming, rooms were large and comfortable; our dog friendly accommodation was lovely. Outdoor bar was great. Food was excellent.
Attractive, clean, comfortable
Our room was cold when we arrived but we turned up the thermostat
The location, it is a beautiful property in beautiful grounds. The Suite we had was superb.
Nothing
I arrived much later than expected but they changed my dinner reservation from 7pm to 8.30pm with no quibble. Tapas dishes were just what I wanted for dinner and breakfast next morning was excellent. Really good bacon and mushrooms!
Wish I had arrived earlier and could have enjoyed relaxing with a drink.
The staff and food were exceptional
There was noise from dog kennels opposite our suite but luckily enough this could not be heard at night and only started again at 7.30am
The staff are so helpful. We had a problem with getting into our booked accommodation so rang the Oaksmoor to se if they had a room. The receptionist Laura said she would talk to her manager and see what they could do. I am disabled so need a room on one level. They did find a room for us but by then we were able to access where we where staying. All staff are very helpful . The food is good. A huge breakfast.
Our room. A junior suite. Two arm chairs no side table to put a drink on. The bathroom needed up grading .Especially the shower .We had no hot water in the morning although housekeeping said it was on. We ran it for along time . Hairdryer was broken. Replaced by housekeeping along with extra toiler paper. I do not think this room had been used often.
Beautiful rooms and lovely terrace and restaurant
Can be pricy
Location - really Nice our rom was spacious and bed super comfy - food amazing !!
Bathroom didnt have enough area to put cosmetics etc on. Tv very difficult to connect to and work. Could not find primary terrestrial stations and wanted us to log in on all apps - not great if you have limited tech knowledge
Ex ellent flecibility given to meal offers.
Lovely bar and restaurant and lovely out door seating
The curtains where messy and it’s a shame it’s near a dogs home dogs made a lot of noise
Quiet and clean
Just the air conditioner cannot cool down the room even set to 19C, need to turn on the provided fan to cool down
The food for dinner in the evening was really yummy.
The tv didn’t work. There was lots of noise outside from music and people shouting. Breakfast was an additional £16 per person after paying £150 for 1 night. We assumed breakfast would be included, which was a shame.
Photos don’t do this place justice! Lovely hotel in a quiet area! Hotel looks like it’s a wedding venue with lovely outdoor settings! The restaurant and food was lovely
We stayed here for my girlfriend's 30th birthday and we loved every minute of our stay! we stopped and had lunch and dinner and the food, drinks and service was absolutely outstanding. The room was immaculate, I added rose petals and a bottle of Prosecco too, we couldn't have been happier from start to finish! We will 100% be staying here again
The property was very smart with all the staff being wonderful and very friendly. Food was out of this world.
Everything was great!
Lovely large room at a really good price.Huge room and huge bath and comfortable bed. My only criticism is that I needed a cold glass of water in the night and the water that came out of the tap was warm or hot no matter how long I ran it. Could have done with 2 servings of normal tea in the room rather than herbal, decaff etc. Staff were all brilliant. Would definitely go back. Beautiful grounds.
Couldn't get a cold glass of water from the sink tap. Did not like the dreadful music round the outside area. Birdsong is good enough.
Very good all round some minor issues which staff sorted very quickly.
Such a lovely place to relax, eat and sleep. Exceptional food, service and quality venue. Love this place!
Not enough milk & tea self serve in the room.
Hotel appeared recently refurbished. Was an excellent all round experience
Bed and chairs , air con , liked the cobweb in the corner of the bathroom , liked the mirror in the bathroom liked the effort the guy in glasses went to getting the air con fixed and up and running , bloody good nights sleep , fantastic,
no english tea bags , no earl grey tea bags , no biscuits , water in kettle , warm water shower only, barely hot , not a nice shower experience , old pee splashes in front of toilet , ( clearly been there some time ) no tray or shelf in the shower to put the shampoo , soap etc , sticky surface on top of the fridge area , no marmalade with breakfast
A lovely historical property which has been extended and modernised in a very sympathetic and tasteful way.
The food is excellent and the wine list is very good as well. The WiFi has good coverage. Walking around the well-maintained grounds is a nice experience.
Coffee could be better.
Amazing and picturesque! The rooms were beautiful and the outside area was so lovely! The staff were very accommodating and set the room up nicely for a birthday celebration!
No grab bar in bath.
Clean, neat, modern
Nothing but the mymusic near all the seating was a bit much. Couldn’t escape it
The location is stunning and the rooms have a lovely rustic feel to them. The spa bath was lovely and the food was amazing. The staff were extremely friendly and couldn't do anymore for you to make your stay perfect.
Our room didn't have Aircon and the fan was quite loud but we needed it on and there were just a few little parts of the room that could do with a touch up but nothing major. They had a Bluetooth speaker system that didn't work and the chair in the room was quite scuffed
We were lucky that the weather was really warm, so we had our dinner outside. The food and the service were excellent! Lovely place with lovely grounds. A superb place to celebrate our wedding anniversary.

Nice comfortable room in a peaceful location with good facilities
Speakers didn't work in the room
Nice room, nice staff, nice setting, nice grounds.
The blinds in our room had problems. We told Manager on leaving, so will most likely get sorted.
Peaceful and tranquil. A stunning setting in beautiful grounds. An incredible building with a perfect blend of old and new.
There’s nothing we didn’t like
It's always a pleasure to return to The Oaksmere for special family occasions, this time for my mother's 83rd birthday. The staff are incredibly helpful with meeting my parents needs for accessible accommodation and dining, helping to take bags to the room, arranging tables in the restaurant etc. as well as providing extras like a birthday balloon and chocolates in the room on arrival. A special mention to Elle and Eleanor for their friendly and attentive service during dinner (and laughing at my Dad's jokes..That's above and beyond the call of duty). The rooms were spacious and airy, perfect for both my parents and our dog who was also welcomed and catered for. Dog friendly rooms are often not the best quality rooms in hotels for obvious reasons but there was nothing inferior in the quality of furnishing and fittings in the room we were given. The restaurant is a fabulous dining location and the food was exceptional, a varied menu of interesting dishes using the best ingredients, much of it locally sourced, well prepared and presented, and very reasonably priced.
My only gripe is one that applies to a lot of UK hotels and only becomes an issue on the rare occasions when we have exceptional heat like now: the lack of air conditioning in the rooms. Although fans were provided and were a great help they are noisy and don't cool an entire room so it was stuffy and not the best night's sleep despite the very comfortable super king sized bed. I would recommend installing air con and temperature control to the rooms to really make a 5 star experience for guests.
Lovely surroundings and relatively modern mixed with historic styles. The restaurant was good and the food excellent. The staff were warm and friendly which helped offset the other issues.
Room was not up to the usual standard. Car park for bar was underneath the window and meant lots of noise filtered into the room. The fridge was short of refrigerant and gurgled incessantly disturbing my sleep. The room is in the attic and has a very small door to get into the room with a slanted ceiling inside.
The food was amazing . Staff was very nice
Loved the hotel stunning
Nothing all perfect
Room was very spacious, giant bed which was really comfortable. Staff were very attentive and the evening meal was excellent. Breakfast was also very good. Lovely walk around the grounds
The restaurant was lovely we ate lunch there and the food was excellent. The staff were very pleasant and location of the hotel was beautiful. It was warn when we stayed and the terrace at the back was lovely for a drink.
The room was good, not deluxe and there was a loud extractor fan that eventually turned off at night outside the window. We were moved to this room when we arrived so was not sure what the actual room we were supposed to stay in was like.
The hotel location was nice and peaceful, and some staff members were polite when we raised our concerns. The room itself initially appeared spacious and looked good on first impression.
Unfortunately, our executive room had multiple insects including spiders and flies throughout the stay. We raised this issue three times, and although the room was sprayed, insects continued to appear shortly after. We were only offered a downgrade to a lower-standard room despite paying £160 for an executive suite, which was disappointing after travelling three hours and arriving late in the evening.
Staff were amazing. Friendly. Attentive.
No shower on my room. Just a bath - weird for 2026
The food in the restaurant was superb
Room was ok, not deluxe as advertised
Great stay, disabled room with great faciities!
Nothing
Spent our anniversary weekend at The Oaksmere and it was lovely. All the staff were friendly and helpful, especially the front desk. The hotel is gorgeous and has lovely grounds. Didn't eat at the restaurant but it was generally always busy but you couldn't hear any noise when in the room
Was amazing start to finish
Breakfast was excellent.
My room was due a deep clean, fine but not great.
The professionalism and friendliness of the staff
Beautiful, stylish mix of old architecture and modern comfort. Really beautiful hotel which wasn’t very obvious from the online photos so I was very pleasantly surprised by how nice it was.
Slightly noisy external fan on roof outside my window. About six or more No Entry ⛔️ signs when I drove up to the property and walked to hotel from car park. It felt very negative from first impressions and no clear signs telling me where to go or welcoming. I was starting to think Oh no, where have I booked? But then I was greeted so warmly at reception that my fears disappeared.
The rooms were very well presented and spacious. The bathroom was a fantastic size. Everything was clean and comfortable
Nothing
Room lovely, only disturbed by barking dog until 11pm
would like to see yogurt, granola, more fresh fruit for breakfast.
The whole experience was of a high standard. On arrival we were greeted by pleasant staff whi informed us our room had been upgraded. The room was huge, clean and had great facilities including the large whirlpool bath. The bar had a wonderful atmosphere and the restaurant food was outstanding. Would definitely return and recommend to others.
We've stayed a number of times, we love it here.
TV in bathroom didn't work
Beautiful building and room in the old part (10). Decor and finishing was just right. Very comfortable
The place and location was lovely. Restaurant was really nice, good food and pleasant staff.
On arrival, the room was very cold, no heating working initially. Kept banging my head on the sloping ceiling. TV didn't work initially. Coffee machine water cylinder was absolutely full of limescale, unusable. This was cleaned after I reported it.
The room was comfortable and quiet with a big jacuzzi-style bath. The surrounding gardens were pleasant. The tv worked well and it was good to have the Nespresso machine. Lots of parking space and the cooked breakfast was good.
While there were some positive aspects, there were also a few issues that impacted my experience. The phone in the bedroom wasn’t working, which made it difficult to contact reception when I needed assistance. Similarly, the Bluetooth speaker in the room couldn’t be used—it appeared to be connected to a different room, and although I was told a pin code was required and that maintenance would address it, it wasn’t fixed during my stay. I arrived about 30 minutes before check-in time and was asked to wait. While I understand there are set check-in times, the hotel didn’t seem particularly busy, and at a 4-star level, I would have appreciated a quick check to see if the room was ready rather than being made to wait without question. The reception staff could benefit from being a little more friendly and welcoming with a smile in general. The bed, which was advertised as Hypnos on the website, was less comfortable than expected—it may have been an older model that could benefit from replacement. On my second evening, I returned around 10:30pm to find the hotel locked, which I hadn’t been made aware of in advance and found quite surprising. A few smaller details also stood out—for instance, the playlist in the bar felt a bit dated and didn’t quite match the otherwise elegant ambiance. In the bedroom, there was a safety catch on the window which limited how much fresh air could come in, and even with the air conditioning on, the room felt a little stuffy. It would have been lovely to have the option of opening the window more. Overall, there’s a lot of potential here, but a few service and maintenance details could be improved to better align with the standard the hotel is listed as.
Room and quietness and building and location was lovely
Quite expensive and wasnt a fan of walking through restaurant to room
food great, staff great
The coffee machine in the room leaked so i couldn't use it. There wasn't a shower but a large whirlpool bath, but there was no plug? just a hand held shower head on a 2 ft flexible pipe. Not ideal.
Excellent, friendly staff. Breakfast was amazing quality and well worth the price paid. Room was very clean and good quality.
Only slight issue was finding the hotel in the dark. Was very easy to miss and could really do with some lighting on the signage at both entrances.
The grounds to the hotel were beautiful, we done lots of walking around, it was peaceful and well kept gardens. Room was lovely and the hotel experienced a power cut so not all equipment was usable. The beds were comftable and big, hotel nice and warm with adjustable heating. Very peaceful, relaxing stay.
Unfortunately the usp for me was the tv in the bathroom, however it did not work the whole time we were there. We reported to staff who never got back to us. The jets in the bath were faulty so had to be turned off and the main power supply at the wall. Over all it was a nice stay but this was very disappointing.
It’s quirkyness
The grounds and gardens are lovely the house is nice
The room we stayed in was near to kitchen so lots of noise and close to a boiler with noise until midnight, not a good outlook from room.
The hotel and restaurant were beautiful
Only little things that could be looked at, the tv in the bathroom for the hot tub didn’t work. Although there for only one night, the option to be able to have an additional coffee in the morning would have been nice and the blinds in the bathroom where very revealing to the car park below.
Rooms very comfiortable. Dinner excellent.

Room well equipped. I loved the spa bath and Fire TV. Beds comfortable, and good quality bed linen. Room clean, apart from damp issues highlighted in the negative section.
Room smelt very damp and fusty. Window was a struggle to open. I made reception aware on checkout that my bathroom abstraction fan never seemed to come on, and that was probably where the smell came from. But, it's a shame this wasn't picked up by cleaning staff prior, as it did smell pretty bad. Mould on wooden window frame. Water pressure not really good enough for the size of shower head, meaning it more 'drips' on you, instead of 'flows' onto you. Be aware - if you book direct, you get breakfast included, if you book via booking.com, you don't, even though it's the same price. This caught me out as I assumed breakfast would be included as it is if you book direct, and it was the same price.
Beautiful grounds and building
Lovely and comfortable, all staff were lovely and welcoming.
Lovely area, very quiet countryside. Comfortable bed. Cosy little annex room. Did not have any food or drinks on the property so cannot comment but heard very positive things.
Bathroom really needs some tlc. Black mould on the silicone around the bath. Lino flooring edges not in good condition. Light in the stairs not working so the lamp replacement is on all night shining underneath the door to the room.
Food was good but could have been hotter
Service was very slow ,bath and shower didn't work as they should ,we had the most expensive room but in was very bland more like a budget room.
The location was nice, and the food was good when we got it, morning staff were very helpful
Long wait for food, which was not all hot when it came out. No breakfast included in the room price. Room was clean, but not worth what was paid for the room as shower didnt work properly, bed was uncomfortable
Staff very helpful, menu accommodating of preferred diet & meals really nice
Absence of lighting in grounds making navigation to the hotel car park on arrival after dark difficult
Very comfortable, clean and staff were amazing
Very comfortable and stylish, lovely staff and great food.
