The location, being able to have breakfast at 06:30, the friendly staff, the room and it was such a relaxing stay; the staff made it relaxing.
Absolutely nothing and it's just a lovely place!
Friendly staff, really great breakfast. Mine was too much to eat so I was given a bag to go :)
Would have liked a bit more choice for the evening meal as there wasn't anything I would call light eating.
Friendliness of the staff and convenient tocation.
The property is well located in Mildenhall
The one member of staff was extremely rude. Normal things like having a shower and using the hair dryer meant that the room steamed up and set the fire alarm off. (No way of opening windows) a staff member accused me of smoking several times and said the steam was smoke… no apology.. would advise they have a lesson in hospitality
Garden was nice but a bit unkempt, crazy golf was a nice touch. Staff seemed approachable and helpful. Towels were big and soft
Room 21 was completely devoid of any comforts , was very barren, bare and extremely basic and very very dated.
Lovely old building in a great location. The staff were all excellent and the food was great.
Nothing.
Lovely hotel and location. Plenty of parking. The hotel room was large and well equipped. The staff were exceptionally friendly and helpful. Breakfast was also exceptional.
Wonderful and friendly manager that welcomed us with a late checkin. Beautiful hotel steeped in history and beautiful location.
Absolutely nothing
Vriendelijke behandeling door het personeel.
Niks eigenlijk
The hotel was a lovely hotel in the town of Mildenhall. Plenty of parking. Everyone was very helpful and friendly.
Nothing
Location was convenient & quiet. The staff were very helpful. Provisions for a hot drink and biscuit in the room were good.
The room and en-suite were clean but tired. The pillows weren’t comfortable and the quilt was thin
Braekfast
Amazing breakfast and choice overall a nice place to stay..
A little tired looking in a couple of areas.
The Staff were very friendly and helpful the bed was very comfortable the Shower was very good and the hospitality tray had Yorkshire t bags my favourite
Nothing
Staff excellent food excellent room good but no water in the room and coffee in the room was cheap and vile. No toiletries
Staff was lovely and friendly. The breakfast was delicious.
I had no hot water for my morning shower. I was in the outside addition (room 42). Also, the spare blanket that I pulled from the wardrobe was stained and did not smell clean.
We flew into the local air base only to be disappointed by the base lodging not accepting non active duty personnel. The delightful young lady at the base lodging desk gave us a list of local hotels with the Riverside being the closest. Upon research it was also the best reviewed. Upon arriving at Riverside we were warmly received by Liam who quickly oriented us to the hotel. Our room was clean quiet and very comfortable. We had lunch and a breakfast in the hotel's dining room. The food was delicious with generous portions and great wait service. There is a bar with a selection of beers and other adult beverages. My sole regret is we only stayed one night. Should we pass through Mildenhall again I will most assuredly stay at this hotel.
It was in the exact location we wanted to stay in. The price was reasonable for the size of the room, the modern bathroom and the good breakfast. The bed itself was clean and comfortable
The room was very dusty and i mean not only surface dust that looked like it hadn’t been cleaned in maybe a week. But as my husband plugged in appliances there were balls of bust which looked like the room hadn’t been cleaned in a long while! Unacceptable! And no, we didn’t complain as we had gone up, unpacked and were only staying for 2 nights. We didn’t really want all that old dust and debris flicked around on our things! The shower cubicle was not clean. It had water and soap marks on the glass. Again not cleaned carefully and with attention. Ive saved the best for last. I asked for a glass of ice from the bar and half a glass was provided When i finished drinking it i had A FINGERNAIL in my mouth AND it wasn’t mine!!! It sums up the cleaning level in the whole hotel. Nothing looked or felt clean: 1) Nail in glass 2) dirty room 3) uncleaned shower 4) greasy cutlery 5) the tables in the garden were filthy and I mean so dirty they looked like they hadn’t been wiped in a long while 6) The garden area was unkempt it needed some care to make it look like a flick of birds hadn’t been slaughtered on it! Tired of moaning now. There was a lot of issues that i dealt with by thinking…only 2 nights!
very comfortable hotel. Staff super helpful and friendly.
The room was very large and the bathroom nice and modern. The bed was large unreasonably comfortable, the breakfast was delicious and cooked to order their continental selection was minimal however there was enough there for you to have a bit of choice. These are the plus sides of the Riverside house Hotel. The room was very dusty when we entered and in plugging in our chargers, my husband found heaps of dust behind the units. I suppose we could’ve complained but then someone would’ve come in and swept it all around the room and we thought it better to let sleeping dogs lie The shower cubicle was large and the glass hadn’t been cleaned very well and there was dirt in the bottom of the tray but not enough to stop me from using it. It just appeared a bit unkempt. The reason I’ve written this review is that on my last night I asked for a glass of ice as there are no glasses in the room and I wanted a drink that I had with me. On reaching the last mouthful of the icy water, I felt a piece of, II hope, fingernail in my mouth that was obviously in the glass or maybe the ice! I have a photo of this. The white chunk in the bottom of the glass is the nail. To have this in my mouth was absolutely disgusting and I cannot get rid of the thought of feeling of it being there. It kind of summed up the Hotel. It was all a bit grubby. The tables in the garden area look like they hadn’t been wiped down in a long time. Some of the knives and forks in the breakfast area needed a wipe before use and one of them was positively sticky. The Hotel looks like it needs a thorough clean top to bottom and the dishwasher certainly needs some attention if the cutlery and glass was anything to go by.
Staff were good and breakfast was nice
The room was pretty poor, toilet didn’t flush properly, the shower doors were broken so didn’t close and the shower head needs a good descaling, also don’t think the Air conditioning was working
Nice location
Nothing
Nicely decorated bright spacious and airy with good outlook front and rear.
Our room could have been better dimensions.
Great location Spacious room Comfy bed Fantastic, welcoming staff Would definitely stay again
There’s nothing I didn’t like, if I’m being picky then maybe needs a bit of TLC and a spruce up
I booked an afternoon tea for my wifes birthday today and everything was just perfect. The welcome, staff and food was excellent and it could not have been a better day for her.We will be going back for meals in future.
Very lovely hotel super helpful we shall one again
The hotel was clean and the staff were very friendly and helpful. The room was clean and tidy, nice that there were two chairs instead of the usual one. Bed was ok and the room had air con. Lots of choice for breakfast. Also had its own car park which is always a bonus.
It would have been nice if food was served on a Sunday evening, didn't realise that it wasn't which was a pain. Our room was at the front and the road is very busy which made it noisy. Definitely needed new pillows the ones that were there were like bricks so very uncomfortable.
Nice hotel
Sauberkeit der Zimmer ließ zu wünschen übrig. Auf dem Teppich (der auch bereits voller Flecken war!) lagen Fußnägel. Das Bad war auch nicht sauber.
I went up here with my wife as we knew that the hotel had been under new management for a little while now and wanted to see how things were going. Initially just for a drink and also if we liked the look of the menu a meal as well. Good choice of drinks on tap and also Modelo which is a very rare one to see. Both ordered starters, sausage rolls and pate. Then for mains we had a chicken burger and fish and chips. All very tasty and clearly made fresh. 1 afters of the cheesecake which was also very nice. All in all a good experience and we will definitely be back. Good value for money as everything was reasonably priced and the portions were filling. Carla served us and was very friendly and polite.
Breakfast choice was good and arrived quickly.buffet looked fresh and appetising.
Coffee. Tasted instant not fresh beans.
lovely location and great facilities. Great staff and bar area had a lovely atmosphere. Morning breakfast was delicious with attentive staff. Rooms were very quiet, hotel had a lift which is very convent as the steps are steep to the 2nd floor. The rooms are a little tired and the bathroom window privacy screening is in desperate need of replacement. Kettle is completely scaled up and cups were also dirty so this needs to be addressed. Ok Value if the above were dealt with then it would be good value. I would stay here again even so as the bed was very comfortable and overall had a lovely stay.
Once again, we were looked after so well by Carla and Ben when we visited for dinner. The service and food were excellent.
AC was most welcome and the room was a generous size. Staff very approachable.

The staff were great and the breakfast was very good. Nice building, great garden
The hotel was tired and needs updating. A bottle of water in the room would have been good especially as it was a very warm day. The room could have been great with its large windows, unfortunately the windows were not cleaned. It was not worth the price
I arrived late and received a very warm welcome from reception. Room was clean and spacious. Very good breakfast the next morning. Large carpark.
Great breakfast, nice, big and comfortable rooms. Friendly and helpfull staff.
It was nice and quiet
Nice to sit in the garden
Stopped here for 2 nights for work. I had a garden room which I found to be spacious and clean. Bed was comfy and the pillows perfect for a good nights sleep. Evening meals were okay, albeit they were a little limited. The cheese and onion quiche on the light bites menu was delicious. Breakfast was good and very generous. On my second breakfast I ended up taking half my bacon & sausage sarnie as a doggie bag 😂 Staff were really friendly, I'll be stopping again!
Limited evening meal choices.
Everything we have been 3 years in a row
Entering the front door of this attractive looking hotel one is immediately struck by its tired, unkept and rather dusty inside. The bedroom was functional but impossible to open the windows. The room had drab curtains and not a single picture as decoration. The bathroom was very small with a shower that had no power. We were a group of golfing friends so we had dinner. The grilled sirloin steaks were grey, the hamburger was frozen. We did not have breakfast and left early. Senior nanagement was nowhere to be seen.
Very little.
Price £173 for 1 night Dated rooms Poor breakfast Not enough staff at the bar
Peace and quiet lovely room with breath taking veiw
Location and that it was a traditional hotel
Nothing
Beautiful location
Staff were miserable not once did they crack a smile when being served, Ben the bar staff was the only descent one that was outgoing and smiling and engaging with guest. Was not informed there would be private functions all weekend even tho we had booked a year in advance, was only informed upon arrival, therefore unable to use all facilities ( garden as we felt like we was gate crashing the weddings ) due the the wedding guests being in the garden and main room, on the Saturday we sat in the back bar away from the weddings and the wedding guests and bride then came through to the back bar taking pictures so again felt like we was crashing it for them. The 2 more expensive rooms we paid was were suppose to be the same however 1 was just like being in the hotel. The silicones around the back and shower desperately need re-doing, the paint work in 1 of the rooms could also do with a freshen up and the other room has wood lice. NO complaints with the rooms inside the hotel itself, only the external rooms which is ironic seeing as we paid more for these rooms. Overall will not be returning
All staff was rude we had no TV in our room that works. The room is dirty. We was told we could not use facilities because there was a wedding going on even though we’ve booked over a year ago it was a very poor
Nice size room just very dirty breakfast was horrible just a waste of money we stayed in that location loads of times and there is much better places to say don’t waste your money
The staff were excellent, warm and friendly and very human. The garden is very nice
The building is somewhat less smart than we expected and the food for dinner was disappointing.
We had our wedding here in July, everything was perfect! Food was great, staff were lovely and the room was beautiful! Thank you so much!
Stayed two days for my wedding which was amazing the staff are fantastic and nothing was too much trouble. The food was one of the best we have ever had
Had this hotel booked for over a year, we booked 5 rooms in total 2 being their more expensive rooms. Upon arrival was informed there was a private function ( wedding ) taking place and was not allowed use of garden after 6pm, couldn’t be served after 6pm and couldn’t have dinner, after speaking to management there was a miscommunication with the staff, we could have dinner but we could only do it in the next half hour (5pm ) way too early considering we only just got here after we traveled from different places across the UK any way the young lad Ben apologised profusely and went out of his way that night to show he was sorry and went had a great laugh with him ( give the young Boy a pay rise ) the 2 young girls serving at the bar did not crack a smile once!! And we’re just danm miserable. 1 of the more expensive rooms was not what we expected it to be, but hey ho let’s not let it ruin our weekend, 2nd day and night again a wedding took place and we just felt like we was gate crashing their wedding by being in the hotel itself. Now considering these rooms were booked a year in advance you would have thought we would be notified but no. So that’s 2 nights paying £1300 over the rooms to just sleep here and not be able to use the facilities like we intended I.e be able to sit and have a nice family meal and a few drinks in the bar before heading to bed. It’s currently 00:15am and the music from the wedding is still blasting and keeping us awake! Will not be coming back here again totally disappointed! Most Staff need to either like their job or not be here at all!!
Ok for an overnight stay for organised party Good breakfast
Bar service and function food could have been better
Our room was very spacious, clean and comfortable
Nothing
Bed.....very comfortable Restaurant...good food, good menu Garden....good seating ,peaceful
Room cleanliness....stained carpet, filthy windows Shower.....door leaked onto bathroom floor, shower fitting loose and broken
I was pleasantly surprised by the Riverside Hotel. The room was quite spacious and the air conditioning very cool. The staff was all incredible, from the front desk staff to the wonderful staff at the morning breakfast. I enjoyed every minute of my stay. I look forward to returning when work brings me back this way next year.
Location
Bar price , Often had to find a member of bar staff , Young bar staff didn't know what a G & T with a slice was then when told , ask what was wanted in the Gin ?? So they need a lot of training.
Lovely hotel in a great location in the middle of town, a friendly greeting from Julie the hotel manager who checked me in. Great rooms, spotlessly clean and well sized. Great value for money and the upgrade on arrival was much appreciated. The bar, restaurant and outside area are really nice, Carla looked after me dinner, had the chilli beef which was excellent - highly recommend trying it if you stay. All round lovely atmosphere in the hotel and quiet for the middle of town. If you happen to check out the beer garden, you might get a visit from Guinness, Julie's dog and the hotel mascot, he likes to greet all guests who venture outside!
Friendly staff on arrival. Lovely garden to relax in. Room was large however the stairs up to the room were a little steep but our choice to feel the burn in the legs after a 20 mile walk!
Nothing to dislike really, for the price it was absolutely fine.
The staff were brilliant. Nothing was too much trouble.
Excellent breakfast with good choice for vegetarians. Good base for visiting Lakenheath and Lackford Lakes nature reserves.
We were welcomed in for a late night drink by Julie, following a trip to Newmarket races. Friendly, great range of beers and a stunning Hotel. Will come back for a stay for sure.
Eight of us went for dinner last Tuesday evening, we hadn’t booked but fortunately it wasn’t a problem. We were well looked after by Carla who helped me sort out a gluten free meal. The food was delicious and everyone enjoyed our time together.
Good sized rooms, helpful staff.
The hotel bedrooms are clearly tired. The hotel has so much potential. Bedroom windows were filthy. Placing of furniture made it difficult to open the wardrobe on one side. Iron provided but no ironing board. Bathroom was clean but needed attention to shower head mount, grouting needed replacing. One the curtains was not attached to pulley and part off hooks allowing sun in defeating the point of black out curtains.
Breakfast and service was good. When I had a problem with my room the General Manager made a great effort to solve the problem and move me to a different room - great service and much appreciated!
Our initial thoughts as we entered the reception area were, tired. The Receptionist on the day looked unkept in a grey/white shirt and the reception area although quite small was very untidy. Whilst checking in another person approached and whom I’m guessing was the manageress spoke to her and was so load and over bearing we could hardly hear the gentleman dealing with us. We were give our room No 24 which initially appeared very roomy and acceptable. However on closer inspection we could only open one window and the other we did not try too hard as it looked like it would come out of the frame as the wooden frame was quite rotten in places. We then noticed that as it was quite windy outside the windows rattled in their frames which we jammed using rolled up toilet paper. In the bathroom the mastic around the shower tray was very mouldy and there were hairs on the basin. Due to the ill fitting windows the noise from the road close by was very noisy and having a food delivery at 06.55 with his reversing bleepers was not the time or way we were expected to be woken. However to end with a positive, the breakfast was very nice, however having to pay a supplement to have eggs Benedict which was far less food than the full English, not great. Overall not very impressed and would not stay again, this hotel is in need of a refurbishment and tidy up.
Location, great selection of food for dinner. The breakfast was excellent.
Nothing to add.
Carla,Izabella and amber were fantastic waitreases and maid our evening great,
Had a great check-in and dinner service experience at the Riverside House Hotel. Thank you to Carla for her friendly and warm service!
Fabulous hotel, great stay, nice location, good food !

All of it
I stay here once a month, the staff make the place great, Liam who has helped me a couple of times and and all round nice member of staff to chat to, nothings ever an issue, also breakfast staff are so friendly, I shall keep on staying.

Prima für ein/zwei Tage. Zimmer mit Airco - bei 34 Grad Außentemperatur sehr angenehm.
Für einen Aufenthalt von 4 Tagen ist die Verstauungsmöglichkeit von Kleidung sehr mager.
Good clean hotel foodwas lovely and reasonably priced
No view of the river from the hotel - we found a platform at bottom of garden - small river really
quite a good breakfast.
broken air conditioner in the room on the hottest day of the year. windows wouldn't open properly so not particularly comfortable. Cleanliness of the room was a not great.
Good value for money, good beer, good garden, good breakfast served with great hospitality
The staff were really friendly and helpful
Lovely staff. Excellent breakfasts
Clean modern hotel with a rustic twist. Loved it. Food in the restaurant was in point. Room was huge and comfortable!

Thank you to Julie on reception for upgrading our room to a family room, so my sister and I could have a single bed each. Thank you to Laura in the restaurant for making our aunts birthday so special. Table was nicely decorated and the afternoon tea was one of the best we have had. Laura sang happy birthday to our aunt, with an extra cake and a candle. We had not requested this , so it was a lovely surprise. We will definitely stay at this hotel again, as all the staff are lovely and go the extra mile to make it a perfect visit . Thank you
Really nice hotel, very comfortable, I had a huge room, comfy bed. Staff were excellent and an extra shout out to the lady on breakfast duty the morning of 14th May, absolute star, couldn’t do enough, just excellent customer service.
room very spacious,comfortable bed,excellent breakfast,nice bar area
mould in shower basin, breakfast area not hoovered on monday morning of our stay
Lovely stay, really enjoyed it. Highly recommended
No restaurant/food served on Sunday evenings. Seemed a little odd seeing that weekends are usually busy times in the hotel industry? Otherwise, it was faultless!
A very comfortable hotel with friendly staff who were welcoming and for whom nothing was too much trouble.
Close to everything we needed and nice area.
One poor staff member on his own being pulled from check in to the bar. Floor was uneven so the bed was on a bit of a slope - it’s an old place - but maybe add a raised end?
I had a business meeting and my partner stayed on in the hotel in the evening. Staff were welcoming and accommodating despite having a party of 80 to attend to ! Room was spacious and well appointed with a great view. Overall a very pleasant experience.
Great staff. Liam was lovely. Dinner was fine and breakfast was really excellent.
The car charger wasn't working. It would have been brilliant if I could have charged overnight.
The property was very clean and comfortable. The staff were excellent. My mum is nearly 93 and my niece is 12 and all four of us felt happy and comfortable and well looked after
Very good
The room on the was advertised as a king size bed it the time off booking and confirmed as as such but only had a standard bed was in the room which was disappointing as we picked this room because of the king size bed .
A lovely hotel with clean, comfortable rooms and great food. The staff were attentive, efficient, and very friendly.
Everything about the hotel was good, including the food served in the restaurant. The only slight downside was, there weren't a lot of options in the town for eating out on a Sunday evening.
Everything and all the staff made you feel so welcome even upgraded our room as it was my birthday and had a special table in dinning room decorated
Breakfast and dinner were superb and all food was hot and attractively presented. The staff were friendly and efficient and went out of their way to make us welcome throughout our stay. The room was clean and the main hotel decor attractive.
We felt that our bedroom was a little bit tired and in need of a bit of redecoration, but it was spotless , as was the whole hotel. The duvet needed replacing as it was somewhat lumpy but the linen and towels were very good, as was the supply of coffee tea and biscuits. The sweet jar was a nice touch!
Breakfast was well cooked. They would do any combo that you requested no problem
Bar service could have been quicker
The location is good with the river to look out onto. A nice friendly atmosphere throughout the hotel. My room was very comfortable with a nice view. Very clean everywhere and the service of all the staff was good. Food was good and plenty of it. Value for money. Could hear some of the traffic as the hotel is on a main road. Would certainly recommend.
Everyone was very accommodating for our very late arrival and early departure. Room was clean and comfortable and breakfast was fantastic.
Very pleasant looking building(Bridgerton type), polite check-in at front desk, everything about stay well explained, borrowed a pack of card from front desk also. Bed was comfortable and clean bedding. Breakfast was absolutely brilliant, can’t fault it. Ample parking. Short walk to town centre. Check out was simple.
Cleanliness of room, room had cobwebs in various places, attention to cleaning detail had been overlooked for some time, stains at tea & coffee area, taps and plug hole not clean, walls around shower not properly cleaned, spill stains on wall, floor not clean enough. No hot water in Saturday or Sunday mornings, disappointing. Informed General Manager on Saturday morning of lack of hot water and some of the issues with cleanliness, on our return, the hot water had been restored, an area that we had mentioned with cobwebs had been cleaned, however, there were still cobwebs on the ceiling above bath, on tv, on picture in room, stains on wall, tea/coffee area still dirty, we informed duty manager on Sunday morning of the lack of attention to rectify cleanliness issues, and looked like a rabbit in the headlights, kept saying he was stunned, but no apologies given. There was an offer to move room, however, we booked a room with a bath and did not want the upheaval.
Location and staff!
This Hotel was a lovely place to spend time with family and friends. We felt a sense of family from the moment we checked in with Julie, she was delightful and was so friendly. The breakfast all three mornings was incredibly delicious, Laura did a great job she was lovely. I had the pleasure of getting helped from Mel when I needed some assistance with our stay. The location, the restaurant and the overall atmosphere was great.
It’s just facing the river. Rooms have everything what necessary, with a balcony and there you can smoke. Have elevator and laundry service in reasonable price. 80 bath/kg. You can buy water and beer 24 hours. Only breakfast available with limited basic menu. But that’s ok. No restaurant. But a bunch of good restaurants, big super market, seven eleven all within max 3 minutes walking. Room with breakfast 1200 Bhat only. Sound super. Staffs are super cooperative.
Lovely Hotel with great atmosphere Staff always friendly & helpful on the ball especially Laura always the same full of life This is one of or maybe our favourite restaurant Is local for us So why pay more especially with Fuel so expensive Thank you The Riverside xx
Came to riverside with family. Excellent choice on the menu which all looked and tasted fantastic. Our waitress Laura was really friendly and attentive. Would definitely recommend and come again.
