Talbot Hotel Carlow

The noise level was way too loud from the band. They need to rethink this as it was the night before a community games event in which a lot of families were staying for. We didnt get to sleep until 12 am after 4 hr journey

I checked in late by arrangement having travelled through the night. I was unable to get any sleep as planned due to constant drilling and banging throughout the day. I asked to be moved but my request was not granted indeed there no response at all.

Stunning hotel, very pleasant. Although it was very warm at night time and hard to sleep.

Room needed a bit of TLC. Panel on bath loose. Leak in shower head , towel handle loose. Television in room only had Irish channels working on it and nothing else Tv controls barely worked also had issue with Netflix connection. Lunch food very poor. Vegetarian option a bit of cheese on bread with leafs for salad and Cajun chicken wrap was a sandwich mix with leaf of salad in it

Very spacious room. Dinner was lovely and breakfast was mega which puts this hotel on my list for another stay.

Evening staff where poor. Trying to order a drink with dinner, I was quicker going to the bar myself. Burger was poor. I won't be visiting again.

The room had a very cosy and homely vibe which we loved. The facilities were excellent and we're very easy to use and understand. The room was so clean and lovely when we came in. We will definitely be staying again.

Fantastic burger !

Any food we had was beautiful, perfect location and the dome was amazing for the kids, my daughter loved it!! And she loved being in the pool, She’s already asking to go back, room was spotless clean and beds were so cozy! Our stay was 10/10 and definitely will return

I feel the cleaning staff for the rooms let your hotel down . No extra toilet paper or not enough towels. No top up on the shampoo there was 3 in the room only 1 got to was hair . And the room wad full of dust it needs more care

Sarah in reception was extremely helpful, always smiling, the hotel layout was very easy to follow, our room was fab, breakfast was to die for, the mostly Irish staff in every area are a credit to the hotel.

We should have stayed longer, but next time we will

L'accueil est très agréable, l'hôtesse a fait l'effort de parler un anglais simple et compréhensible pour nous. La chambre était spacieuse, très propre, la literie grand confort et très silencieuse.

Decor, staff and everything was exceptional, very accommodating and extremely comfortable. The only thing to fault was the that the chromecast in the room doesn’t work, it is frozen or not connected to the internet and needs to be reset so could not stream anything. Other than that everything was great!

The staff were very pleasant. The pool was lovely and warm. The Dome was so close and the bowling was brilliant. Very child friendly and enjoyed no alcohol so children were prioritised

I am sorry to say the food was not good quality. It tries to please everyone but I found it bland and bread heavy. The room was too hot but I appreciated the fan. The head of the bed is on the wall which makes it slope backwards

Immaculate room new and fresh

The staff were so friendly. Even took my little girls on a tour around the hotel while I packed up the car. The kids club was fantastic, the girls had a ball. The only thing was there was a kiddies disco advertised online but they told me they don’t do discos anymore so my girls were a bit disappointed as I had told them there would be one. Food was delicious, a really extensive breakfast and the bar food was lovely. Really good value for kids meals too. The underground parking was very handy. And the pool was so warm and perfect for kids. Will definitely be back. Would love to see the disco back running too 😊

Great stay for families with kids. Loved using the pool and the kids club in the dome in the evenings. Good food in the bar. Good sized room with comfortable beds.

Stale smell of smoke in the bedroom and the coloured cushions on the beds need to be washed as they smell badly.

I come here at least once a year with my 2 boys. There is so much for them to do and it is in an ideal location with the dome and shops only around the corner. Staff is always so friendly, breakfast is exceptional and it is brilliant value for money.

Good location, nice vista of the bales of hay in the nearby fields. Obviously a good place to bring young children (although we did not have any in tow on this occasion). Breakfast was very well run, with a thoughtful choice and nice cooked breakfast - loved the good quality pot of coffee! Also enjoyed a swim in the leisure centre and the sauna was great, too. Dinner menu had lots of choices and we loved what we ate, I thought the curry (vegetarian) was gorgeous. We also had afternoon tea, and while this was very nice, there were a couple of things which I have noticed other places don't do either, not just the Talbot, and I think it would be great if they did, namely: 1) Provide two separate plates for each person - one for the savoury items, and one for the sweets. 2) Offer a refill of tea automatically to each person. We did get a refill - but only after we asked for it. There was an accidental overcharge at the dinner also, but this was rectified immediately when we highlighted it, so that was all good. Thanks to the team at the Talbot for a lovely stay - would recommend it.

I went with my two little girls and I can’t explain how kind and friendly the staff were. One receptionist even took my little girls on a tour around the hotel and to the upstairs while I packed up the car. The food was delicious and kids meals were so reasonably priced. The bedrooms were so spacious and my children slept so well. The kids club in the Dome was such an amazing service, my girls had a ball. It was great to use so I could get some time reading in the bar. One thing though, on the website it says there’s kids discos and I had told my girls there would be one and so they were quite disappointed to hear that wasn’t the case. So maybe that needs to be removed from the website. But everything else, we absolutely loved. The pool was so clean and warm and they had a ball playing before we left for home. We will definitely be back. Thank you so much.

Room was nice, large enough for the 3 adults. It was very warm but they did provide a big fan. We went out to an event and they were very nice when we got back to the hotel, they informed us of last drinks before closing the bar. Very friendly staff.

There was a wedding on so parking was very hard to find.

Loved the staff - Iila behind the bar and Ellie at breakfast were excellent but all the staff we encountered were friendly and helpful. The two hours complimentary supervised kids club in the Dome each evening was the highlight for our 6 year old. The food on the Saturday evening was lovely.

The interior of the room was a little the worse for wear. Peeling wallpaper around the window, shoddy silicone in the bathroom etc. We were in a family room next to a busy and loud road so not ideal for children. The music in the bar on Saturday night was very loud; we couldn't hear each other. The food on the Sunday evening wasn't great. Kids chicken was dry and tough but Donna sorted it out quickly.

There could b more leaflets and local information available at reception/in rooms. I found a very useful Guide to Co. Carlow on my travels, which would have been useful if left in hotel.

Room fantastic, Staff fabulous. Location great. Bars and entertainment cannot be faulted. Food selection: everything it should be, but the full Irish breakfast was at best, warm, so I had the continental, and the tea / coffee was perfect.

Excellent location. Outside town which suited us. Did not mind driving in. Atmosphere in hotel was great. Rooms were comfortable and clean. Great value for money. Will have to say noise was that bit high and there were kids running up and down the hall very late but that is not the hotels fault. Service was excellent from minute we checked in. Was spur of the moment stay coming from Dublin heading home to Co Clare and we had checked booking.com. There was a cancellation and we got it. The breakfast following morning was so good, great variety and again excellent service. Highly recommend this hotel and we will be back for sure. Thanking ye.

From checking in to all the staff team we dealt with were all polite and v professional. The meal at the wedding redeption was top notch and served quickly in an orderly manner.

Only slight complaint was the breakfast was only luke warm.But that could have been our timing.
