Breakfast was very good. Fresh and tasty. Room was very spacious and liked the USB sockets. Check in and out was straightforward and male receptionist on arrival was very helpful. Liked the car charger facility. Took a bit to get it going but after that it was fine and helped us out for the return journey.
It was a bit busy but there was a tournament on so to be expected.
Large, comfortable room with an excellent bed. Good location and surrounding area. Breakfast was good. Staff were generally friendly, courteous, and helpful.
The hotel felt dated and shabby in places and in need of updating. Wi-Fi was unreliable and very slow. We were woken at around 6 am most mornings by golf course groundsmen No secure bike storage, so we had to lock our bikes to railings. On one evening, there was no bar food or room service available, other than a roast in the restaurant, so we had to leave the hotel to get a takeaway. The restaurant and breakfast areas were exceptionally noisy, with the hotel seemingly dominated by male golfing groups. Some of the language used was inappropriate. Wi-FI was very weak and intermittent; it hardly worked in our Deluxe Suite!
Good location. Close to the wedding venue we attended. Staff were friendly when checking out.
Shower wasn’t great, It kept going hot and cold. The Room wasn’t worth the price if I’m being completely honest. And the floorboards on the landing were awful you heard every footstep come by.
The breakfast was poor very basic cheap cereals only one choice of pastry veggie sausages tasted like wallpaper paste no berries poor fruit salad bacon hard and tasteless it all felt it was done on a very tight budget
Breakfast see above!also the room smelt and felt damp (room 101)very small bed
Room was setup with 2 single beds when we had booked a double room. It took around 30 mins to put the bed together and then they had to come back after we had gone out to finish it. Very Poor!
Very good breakfast
Very loud wedding reception in the hotel that went on until midnight
Breakfast great lunch in Lyle bar great older gentleman of staff was excellent taking time to ask if everything ok
Stopped in annex very clean but needs a bit of sttention round door
My sister and I stayed at Hawkstone Park Hotel when we visited the Hawkstone Follies. We absolutely loved it! What a stunning place and the staff were all superb!
I can’t think of anything I didn’t like.
Fantastic golf resort hotel with two great courses backed up with superb hospitality facilities
The hangover the morning after
Location nice
Tired on outside / quite expensive but guess predominantly for those who are in golf tournaments
Room was very small, we looked over to the outside area where lots of golfers were drinking and being quite loud. Breakfast was at best average. Dinner ; not applicable.
General atmosphere was poor. Room was very small with dated facilities ( Room 221 ) Paying £160 a room , we would have got better at Holiday Inn or a Premier Inn.
Very friendly and helpful staff. Our large group had dinner which was excellent. A good number of waiting staff on hand to deliver food and clear away promptly. All very good, thank you.
A repeat stay, I was playing Golf there the next morning. This is a smart good quality Hotel. On my previous visit the Bar closed early, but on this occasion there were more customers , who seemed to be mainly other golfers , so having arrived after 10pm I was able to enjoy some nice local Ale before retiring. Good Breakfast.
I’ve been here a few times on short golf breaks. I’ve just returned from a great few days, a fantastic value golf (x2) on the two excellent courses, dinner which was excellent and a good buffet breakfast. The service is good as is the ambience. Hotel rooms are more than adequate and clean. My only complaint, and it has cost them a star in my book, is that the wine we bought at dinner for £25 a bottle was only 9.5% and thoroughly insipid. Now £25 a bottle is a normal restaurant price but I’ve never paid that for dishwater. I will return but I won’t be drinking the house wine!
Just had a most enjoyable overnight golf trip at this hotel, 6 of us , and all of us commented on how good the food was. We have been there before and we’re told new they had new chefs who had introduced a new menu. Totally recommend this venue even for non golfers
Ou group of 12 golfers used to come here each year from 2005 to 2023. For a variety of reasons, we did not come here in 2024/5 but we were offered a deal for this year and 9 of us stayed mid July. Our last visit was plagued with slow service, lack of atmosphere and , with few people staying, a refusal to give two of our party a second bread roll. This stay was the polar opposite and all staff went out of their way to make it a highly enjoyable experience. The rooms had all been refurbished to a very good standard. The food and service in the restaurant was superb. Bacon toasties etc pre round were quality and did not take an age to arrive. Bar staff were great. We played the Hawkstone course both days. The course was very dry after 20 days without rain but was still in good condition . The severe slopes on 13 and 14 led to some lost balls and we think that mowing the grass at the edges on these 2 holes was poor course planning. That said, we all agreed the whole package was now good value for money and we are booking again for next year.
Good position for ethereal we wanted to be
Ran out of cossisnts for breakfasts
Location, rooms were lovely the manager on duty and bar lady was lovely too
there was no water in the room for our stay and the check in was a bit of a shambles meaning we had to rush to get changed and some peoples rooms weren’t ready either. We ended up being late to the wedding as a result. We got there early to give a heads up and others phoned the night before too. There were some creepy golf lads in there pestering us when we were trying to have a drink which wasn’t a nice experience and comes with the nature sadly of it being a golf resort.
Breakfast was very good. It’s not a hotel I would visit for romantic weekend. It’s very much a golfing party venue for groups. That’s how is felt at that particular time. Room excellent and staff went beyond to be helpful.
Location, helpful staff, general cleanliness. Great breakfast.
Very limited menu in the restaurant, especially for vegiterians.
Lovely, nice rooms great value for money very clean
No air conditioning in most rooms and was very hot when we stayed
The view
It had no air conditioning and I Have bites all over my back
The look of the room and hotel
The WiFi didn’t work in our room which prevented me from completing any work, being self employed this is extremely important. The radiator even though turned off was still hot. We were also questioned at breakfast why we hadn’t booked in because they were “so busy” when burning the 15 minutes we had break fast only 7 other people were in the dining area. Rang reception who couldn’t do anything to fix either problem and on checking out the member of staff took our key card and couldn’t event be arsed to ask about our stay. Will be contacting the hotel direct to discuss a reimbursement.
Great rooms
Great parking
Breakfast
Shower didn't work
Staff very helpful in seating us in a dog friendly area, but still waiting on us as if we had sat in the restaurant. Very helpful. Reception friendly and helpful for all our questions.
Room was fine, but would have been helpful to have info. On times of evening meal and breakfast in the room. Just a little more info to save having to keep asking reception.
Lovely place fantastic golf, staff especially Sue who was attentive and so wonderful to the group she made our trip.Thank you Sue for your help.
Fantastic service a great stay.Sue made it a trip to remember so helpful in our stay and made it a wonderful experience.
We stayed here as we thought a nice country hotel would be a good base for some walking and visiting Shrewsbury and the surrounding area. The staff were friendly and the room was comfortable and clean if a little small. The problem is if you are a non golfer you really cannot socialise in the bar or restaurant without hordes of drunk golfers ruining your experience. After seeing this the first evening as we arrived, the following evenings we went out to local pubs and restaurants to simply avoid the noise and behaviour of the golfing guests. At night the noise from the terrace and people banging around trying to find their rooms just topped off the experience.
The room was excellent, staff were helpful and friendly, food was good. The shower pump wasn't working but staff very apologetic.
The only real issue was the breakfast was excessively expensive for utter rubbish. It was an absolute rip off
All good
room was fresh clean and tidy
the hotel was full unfortunately we were placed in the outside annex open to the elements, it was raining on arrival slipped and cut my shin on the outside metal stairs leading up to the room, dropped our party clothes in the rain, just one of those things I guess, the staff were very apologetic., offering first aid assistance.
Everything was perfect, the staff were lovely and always helpfull, the food was top notch and the refreshments were very resonable.the room was spacious very clean and very comfortable and stunning views and a great breakfast to boot
Nothing we realy enjoyed our stay
The breakfast was good. The first morning was self service for evety thing, but the second day, when there were less guests hot food was brought to one's table.
There was no lift and there were stairs both up and down to my room. I had not specified that I am 81, walk slowly and somewhat unsteadily with a stick, but this did make getting to and from my room less than comfortable.
This is a nice, simple hotel, with clean rooms and comfy beds. The breakfast was buffet style but of a really good quality; all items were hot and fresh. If you are in the area or at a wedding at Hawkstone Hall (like I was), then stay here. It's really good value.
No night porter around, as stated their would be, so I had to find my own key on the reception desk as I checked in late. Luckily, I checked in online first so it was ready for me.
I stayed here the night before my wedding with a few guests and friends and it was everything we could have hoped for. We booked a meal for a large party and the staff accommodated us and made it as easy as possible for us. My groomsmen and i also played golf the day we stayed and the course was immaculate and facilities all spot on.
N/A
The staff were so very friendly and efficient. Very helpful
staff were friendly, good location for us, plenty of parking
place was cold, decor in miserable shades of grey, poor choice at breakfast and dinner - was really expecting a bit more than burger/pizza/pie and chips. only on second day were we told we could order from another, slightly more appetising menu - and that there was wine available. dining room huge, freezing and unwelcoming.
Stayed 2 nights with a party of 16 golfers. Very helpful and welcoming staff, well equipped room, with comfortable beds, only downside was low pressure in the shower. Excellent food quality and choice for dinner and breakfast. Would recommend this hotel together with the challenging golf courses.
Location, size of room
Shower hose and rail need replaced
The hotel itself was good and the room was big enough with a fair sized bathroom. The room was adequately stocked with tea and coffee with the bathroom having enough towels and soap.
We were part of a bigger wedding party. Guest arrived before check in time so asked whether they could leave their luggage in a locked room, the reception staff said there was no such room available and seemed to be totally unwilling to help.
Rooms were spacious and super comfy bed Bathroom was nice n toasty even through the night
We were booked in here because of a wedding at Hawkstone hall. Despite booking.com advising to let hotel know of arrival time for smooth check-in, we were unable to check- in until late at night because rooms not ready and no luggage room? Although the hotel is supposed to have over 70 rooms, apparently none were available for us to check in at 12pm. The really annoying g thing was we saw about 6 people both days and the car park was empty?
Nice countryside location,‘friendly staff, Great breakfast, very comfortable bed, loads of free parking, there for a wedding reception which it was perfect for.
Room 310 suite nice size and decor. Let down by no facility lighting for getting ready, bathroom mirror light not working. Shower was awful, head didn’t stay up, when it flopped it boiled the electric shower water at you, shower door swung in on you constantly so water went all over the floor and one side of the shower was a window so the water ran down the blind and bounced off the window ledge. We managed with a sense of humour but it could be unworkable for some. Other peoples showers were good though, just our room. For that reason alone our stay was overpriced. Thats suite 310 only though, suite next door was not like that
Stayed before. Lovely place
Room was cold. No way to turn heating on. There was a wedding on right next to my room and the music was loud.
Clean room and comfy bed.
Reception staff were not friendly or helpful. Breakfast was the worst I've ever had in a hotel.
Pros - comfy bed - fast check in Cons - food is terrible, we had a buffet dinner Saturday night where nothing matched. It was very very poor quality as well. Breakfast was equally as awful and not enough choice. Cheapest bread going. Expensive drinks - take your own and have in your room.
Clean tidy and a big bed. Parking wa easy
Nothing it was ideal. Stayed after a wedding at the hall nearby the receptionist was really friendly she was there at 10 pm when we checked in and again a 8 when we checked out. Lovely lady who was so helpful and friendly a real credit.
Location for a wedding we were attending.
Cost of the drinks were expensive. Bathroom very dated and small.
Really good size suite which I thought was good value for money, the room was clean enough but not immaculate, in a nice location too
Beautiful property, little bit of TLC needed but it’s winter so could be planned.
Some info in guides were wrong regarding taxis and food opening times. If at an event at main hotel you will struggle for late night (10pm) taxi back from Hall to a park despite what the guide says. Taxis aren’t local so will be an issue. As for staff, 1 bar staff said a bar was closed as we couldn’t get food but went over to open another bar with food. Just say this is closed but that one is opening in 5 minutes. Was moody and said ‘Its not my problem’ but after speaking to us for a while became more engaging land was nice. Poor first impression though. These 2 issues were a shame as it’s such a nice place otherwise.
It was close to the wedding venue
Nothing
Breakfast was a buffet style where you could help yourself food was excellent staff were very friendly and helpful would recomend this hotel to anyone
Bedroom was a bit to warm for us but other than that we look forward to staying there again
Meget fint
All meals were absolutely delicious
Enjoyed everything
Rooms could be a little more modern. Curtains weren’t hung properly and looked a bit messy.
The staff were absolutley brilliant - I actually felt like I knew them. They checked in that we were all ok. Totally brilliant. Food was also excellent - top marks and we will be back.
Location
No privacy in the bathroom as no blind/curtains on windows the bed had a broken spring sticking out of the mattress
Nice location, comfy bed, spacious bathroom, , friendly staff
Bar prices, limited breakfast selection.
Excellent stay and excellent service and staff.
Everything, Great nights sleep which never happens when away.
Decent sized room, check in staff were nice. Breakfast was OK.
It was fine for the cost. It is remote but we were at a wedding being held nearby so the location suited us.
The views over the golf course were beautiful
The fly / ladybird infestation in our room It was insanely hot and had to have the fan on all night The water pressure was horrendous. Took over an hour to wash my hair Metal external staircase and walk way dangerous
Great location for anyone going to a wedding at Hawkstone Hall. Although we could not eat in the restaurant due to a charity event we didn’t find it difficult to go out for a pub meal. Plus when we got back we were all able to have a drink together as they kindly opened the bar in the other function room.
Property was nice, staff were friendly.
Room was full of dead flies, shower was poor and didn’t stay up right.
Room was clean and well organised with lovely decor.Staff were friendly and helpful. Location was good and near to the wedding venue, which was the reason for being in that area.
Limited meal availability especially bar meals. Staff were vague an unsure if we could order food from the bar. Breakfast dissapointing not a very big choice for the cost.
A bath
The leaking bath overflow
Stayed in a suite which was very nice and the food is very good
Nothing
Location Comfort
All good
Our evening dinner on our first day was great. The breakfast buffet was OK The staff were friendly and helpful. The venue was excellent as we were to attend a wedding at Hawkstone Hall.
The rooms were quite small but OK for our short stay.
The rooms were nice and modern. The bar staff were very friendly and helpful unlike the other staff.
The staff working the check in were not very friendly at all. Acted like we were more of a bother to them. One of our rooms had such a foul smell from window glue that we had to be moved. The food was horrible, everyone was sick that evening.
Beautiful views and scenery. Friendly and helpful staff. Great golf course !
There is no lift due to ot being a historical building.
Dinner was available when there appeared to be no other guests
The premises are very big but it appeared we we were one of two or three guests in the whole facility. It is surprising the venue was even open. For intended guests it would have been preferable for the hotel to cancel the booking in advance when the occupancy rate was known to be so small. The staff were very average and consistently very average throughout the facility. The standout exception was George who was barman, waiter and bright light of the establishment.
Staff very friendly and helpful Room clean and comfortable breakfast great as was evening meal.
Unfortunately wedding party also booked in Friday night and a corridor fire door outside the room was banged Open/shut numerous times in the early hours by people going up/down corridor disrupting sleep.
Food
We stayed here the night before a wedding in another nearby venue.
We were staying in a courtyard room, which was outside the main building. Room was up steep outdoor steps, which were poorly lit.
Location, comfy beds and quiet
Loads of flies round the window, had to kill about 10! Steak was very tough on the steak baguette, couldn’t bite into it
The staff were amazing and friendly and nothing was too much trouble. The hotel was lovely too very clean and comfortable.
Nice breakfast. Friendly, helpful staff.
It was all ok . Location. Staff were good. Facilities were good. All ok
The meat in the supposed a la carte .menu was terrible. Extremely tough. But the breakfast was good.
Breakfast was superb. Staff was very helpful Hotel very clean.
Lighting in the bathroom. I didn't have enough Light to apply my makeup properly. Would have appreciated a lit up mirror ,or brighter Light . No lifts .
Convent for our travel
Food was poor
Evening meals were good quality. Clean and bright decor throughout hotel. Staff very pleasant and helpful
More choice for breakfast if not choosing cooked. Doors throughout hotel bang really loudly. Double beds are very uncomfortable in the middle where they are joined together
Stunning location. Immaculate interior.
Not a dislike as such, but the property does look slightly dated from the outside.
We stayed here for 1 night (room 216) on the 7th September as we had a wedding the next day at Hawkstone Hall. Our room was standard, nice bed and the bathroom was decent. Some parts of our room needed a small tidy up but nothing massive. The breakfast was decent and staff were nice. Special mention to Cheryl on reception who was very welcoming and helpful.
Booked this as we were attending a wedding at Hawkstone Hall and it was apparently the closest one as the hall was fully booked. Check in was uneventful, gentleman didn’t really smile and appeared to not really want to be there. Given minimal directions but found room ok taking just one wrong turn. Was not given info about restaurant (not that we needed it, but would have been nice to have been told), he mentioned breakfast but words used were “I think it’s from 7am” surely on front of house reception knowing serving times of breakfast is a necessary requirement? On walking to room, had to go down a few stairs which had a curved staircase going off to either side, you could go straight on, but not further down as there was a barrier stopping you. The smell as you came out of the room and into the area where these stairs were smelt very musty and damp. The hotel in my opinion need to ensure that this is addressed as this does not give a great impression. On entering my room, the window was slightly open ensuring it was properly aired, the bed was big, and first impressions were good. Then I went into the bathroom to put my wash things in there. The corner on the side of the bath was dusty, I feel that having a shower over a bath is a little dated and it would be better if this was changed to a shower tray. The toilet paper is very flimsy, the back of the door is damaged. On a plus there was plenty of hot water. Due to the dust/dirt on the side of the bath, I then checked the top of the mirror in the bedroom to find yet more dust. So it was not the cleanest of rooms, the bedding was clean though so not all bad. Breakfast was a little disappointing. Two toasters by the bread (both 4 slice) and only one of the toasters worked but not both sides. Did mention this, the guy managed to get the other side working, but how I have no idea. The other toaster he checked but could not get this working at all, and I was surprised to see 2 domestic toasters used in a hotel restaurant. Maybe an upgrade on this is required. The bread used for the toast tasted sweet, like the cheap bread you can get. It was not great and I couldn’t eat it. The sausages were ok, bacon overcooked on one side undercooked on the other, fried eggs were rubbery on the top like they’d been sat under the lamp for hours, however as breakfast started at 7am and we arrived for breakfast at 7.20am this should not have been the case. There was prepared fresh fruit, but no apples or bananas or any other fruit available. There were a few fruit juices available. Coffee was out of a machine and the tea was not as strong as I like, a nicer touch would be for pots of fresh coffee to be taken round, and pots of tea available rather than having to make it in a cup. All in all the hotel served a purpose, but there are some things that need attention.
