How breakfasts were organized. It may have been even more efficient if guests could make order for breakfast on the eve of the next day. The room including the bathroom was of a decent size.
I was struggling to have a cold shower in the morning. Only warm/hot water was available.
Very satisfied for everything that we expected..and the location is so nice and quiet ..suitable for relaxition ..thank you to all the lovely staff very polite ..🥰
I would say none..
Its was a very peaceful location.
Having to move on
All the staff were so friendly and helpful. The room was perfect and the breakfast freshly cooked and very tasty. Me and my wife have stayed in countless hotels over the years but this place was as goo as any.
Can`t think of a single thing.
The lovely staff! Everyone was there to make the experience great. Love the little bar on the ground floor and the whole ground level is charming.
The shower in room 14. The lack of space and the poor upkeep of the rooms/bathrooms.
Excellent hotel, used as a stopver on a motorbike tour, off the road parking for the motorbike is ideal. Very friendly staff, comfortable room and an excellent breakfast.

Large, comfortable double room with lovely view.
Furnishings, curtains and baggage rack could do with updating. Could do with a general refresh.
Lovely homely small hotel. Some may find it old but it’s classic country house hotel
Nothing
Breakfast was lovely ,great friendly service ,lovely family run hotel
Excellent breakfast, very friendly and helpful staff, a lovely building and an unexpected upgrade to a double room
A lovely building and excellent location. A taste of an elegant past. Staff friendly and helpful. Spacious rooms with views over the garden from lovely old floor to ceiling windows. Very good breakfast. We had a peaceful visit.
Some of the furnishings and fittings are a little tired. But everything was clean and worked well so that didn't bother us at all.
Friendly staff, not a synthetic McDonanlds style hotel - the real deal.
Minor niggles - bathroom was a little "tired" but it was serviceable and clean.
Breakfast was nice, staff were friendly
Very dated, bathroom not the cleanest, every floorboard creaked, really loud noise from fan by kitchen directly outside our window
Natalie was so welcoming and nothing was too much trouble for her. The food was excellent and the breakfast being included was perfect. The room was lovely, as were the lounges and gardens. A really pleasant atmosphere to the whole place!
The bathroom was a bit tired, and the shower over the bath went extremely cold and remained so. Not unexpected for the age of the place.
Excellent, helpful and friendly staff. Great breakfast, location and pretty property.
The room is a bit dated and the bathroom fan didn't work.
Breakfast was great, staff were fabulous from check in and out and service was great, nothing was any trouble to ask for...
Nothing to not like.
Staff were excellent friendly very helpful a d professional the break was excellent too and location great
really helpfull staff good breakfast
cannot think of anything
Dinner is not available, however breakfast was fine
Our room was sold as a ! cosy double however was very small more like a single (only one chair)
Liked it all. Super helpful staff. Lounge area nice to spend time in. Simple but great shower. Good breakfast.
Nothing.
The Rectory has real character and History. The staff were lovely and the food very good.
The friendly staff. The beautiful settings. Clean room and the choice and standard of light food.
Our room was on the snug side. It was adequate but snug.
Staff was very attentive and accommodating… nothing was too much trouble and very pleasant
En-suite was a little ‘tired’ and could be improved with a little TLC
The friendliness and helpfulness of all the staff. The quality of the food. The ambience of the whole place.
There wasnt anything we didn't like
Really lovely, friendly staff! Couldn't do enough for you. Beautiful peaceful place with lovely gardens and a lovely atmosphere.
Everything was just right for the price point.
I loved the friendliness and helpfulness of the staff. They made a breakfast we could take away which was perfect for our triathlon event. I also loved the 1980s/1990s vibe. It felt like a time warp and made me very nostalgic. Would be great as a set for a tv series (like Rivals) set in that era.
Room was very warm at night. The floor creaked a lot when I was walking over it. It would be more ecofriendly to have refillable shower wash and shampoo bottles attached to the wall rather than little packets of toiletries you open.
Brilliant, very welcoming, very helpful, lovely accommodation

Would definitely recommend anyone to stay.
Nothing.
Breakfast was excellent
The extractor fan in the bathroom was very noisy
Beautiful setting, lovely Georgian building, Natalie on reception was really lovely, chatty and professional; a credit to the hotel. Bed was very comfortable, nice patio and garden area but more comfortable furniture would be a welcome addition. For lunch I had an egg sandwich and fresh baked scones (still warm from the oven) cream tea, this was outstanding.
Huge spiders in the bath and in the curtains! Very tired and old fashioned, the enamel on the bath was worn through in several areas, damp smell in the bathroom, terrible table for tea and coffee. The top had completely disintegrated in some areas, this was very unpleasant and needs either covering or replacing. Sofa bed needs removing completely, old, tired, too low and extremely uncomfortable. No freshly grown fruit and vegetables, that area of the garden has completely gone. I appreciate the building is old, and that is part of its charm, but some money needs investing in the properties furnishings to modernise it to a better standard. It could be absolutely delightful but sadly falls short. Breakfast was plentiful but everything had to be ordered from the waitress initially, juice, cereal, fruit, cooked and/or continental etc. I suppose this cuts down on waste, but it felt a little pressured. Nothing at all was out in the dining room to choose from. The cooked breakfast was adequate but not quality ingredients.
Location. Price. Staff. Room. Breakfast.

Our stay at this hotel was made so very special with an unexpected upgrade to an exceptional double room. The staff were so pleasant and helpful. The location is excellent with all amenities close by.
We liked everything!!
Staff were excellent. Breakfast was very good. Facilities are dated and room was small. Everything was clean but it seemed we travelled back in time 20 t0 30 years.
Updating would be welcome.
Excellent breakfast,room size good.Staff excellent
Lighter duvets needed.Very warm in present temp. conditions.Shower head too high, needs a lower fitting as well. bed reading lights need brighter bulbs.
Location. And the gardens
I know that is an old location with History but it is too old at the moment, floors are bad and noisy, bathrooms are old and still with two different taps etc, I agree it should show old but some investment and keep in mind the history should be done.
Lovely house and staff were very friendly and helpful
WiFi is poor, mattress was uncomfortable
Comfort , staff and general relaxed feeling
Shower wasn’t great and post code didn’t get us to the hotel after a long drive Also would’ve liked the ability to get dinner meals but couldn’t
Lovely Manor House on beautiful grounds. Very quiet surroundings and peaceful. The interior has character and rooms high ceilings with lots of natural light. Well preserved and a historic, not ‘dated’ feel. The staff were very kind and friendly, accommodating and made my birthday stay perfect. The lady serving bfast on 17/5 morning was exceptional- so smiley and kind despite being so busy! She made my morning :) the breakfast was immaculate and really loved it- amazing quality and so much variety. Loved the table service too, definitely a personal touch
The mattress felt a bit uncomfortable for me !
The breakfast was served hot and quickly. The portion size was just right to start the day with. The room was very quiet, with no traffic noise from the surrounding area. The gardens looked immaculate and deserved a good wander around.
Lovely old building with welcoming and attentive staff. Good variety of options at breakfast too.
Footboards on beds are a bit of a constraint when you're tall.
The staff went above and beyond to make our stay comfortable
Creaky floors but not a problem
Service was excellent as was breakfast.
The hotel has character but would benefit from some modernisation. Our room was a bit small for a double.
Quietness Comfortable beds Staff
Bit dated re decor Shower in our room was not great
Staff were very friendly and most helpful. The breakfasts were excellent with a very good selection and nothing was too much trouble for the staff who were very attentive. Room was lovely and comfortable.
Room was kept clean and well serviced each day but could have done with a little maintenance (shower cubicle leaked and shower head needs replacing).
The hotel staff was amazing, very friendly and accommodating. The hotel grounds are dream like, surrounded by green and very quiet.
Traditional style Country House Hotel with traditional values and service. Breakfast was traditional for a UK hotel and of very good quality and matched by excellent service From the staff. Regretably, they do not do dinner service, but, instead do a light Snack menu, again, the quality is very good. A more substantial offering would be welcome.
Having to leave
Quaint
Spring sticking in my side Room 5. Unfortunately…
Staff were brill...breakfast ace
I liked my stay and can't think of anything
The location. We were visiting a dear friend, it was easy to get around the village.
It was lovely.
Breakfast was fantastic, such a treat these days to have a freshly cooked breakfast delivered to the table- warm delicious pan au chocolat too!
Bathroom was a little dated
The staff were so attentive, and couldn't do enough for you, the breakfast was amazing especially the scrambled egg, I would highly recommend this hotel it's amazing and the location is stunning, keep up the excellent work, we will definitely be returning in the future 👍
Nothing, everything was exceptional
Clean tidy and well kept
⁹breakfast
Perfect very welcoming , staff very nice and nothing is too much trouble .perfect stay we have been twice now 😁
Nothing just perfect
The bedroom was hot and a little claustrophobic.
The building was really beautiful and the facilities were great. The staff were absolutely lovely especially Kate, who was very attentive. The breakfast was very tasty and there was plenty of food, it kept was full for hours.
There wasn't anything that we didn't like. Everything was fantastic.
Super friendly staff, beautiful house, very clean and lovely food :)
Nothing
Quiet I must emphasise this - a big plus with me. I have stayed in too many noisy places where other guests are inconsiderate Ample breakfast in pleasant dining room Parking space
Wem is OK but.hardly exciting and just rough in places. Toilet did.not flush properly
Only issue was it was cold in the room. We were in RM 10
Very friendly staff and great breakfast.
Staff, comfort and food.
Nothing comes to mind
A beautiful hotel in a great location staff were fantastic from checking Natalie on the reception at the time was very friendly and welcoming. Went to our then came down to the bar for a drink and ordered some food and it turned out Natalie was doing everything that night. Got up for breakfast Which was well organised and again the staff in the morning were fantastic nothing was ever to much trouble other hotels could learn from how this is run
There was nothing not to like superb place
Good parking. Lovely building.
Room a bit on the small side as was the en-suite but adequate
Wonderful family owned and run hotel with a fantastic history and a super bunch of staff. Very comfortable and well-equipped rooms. Traditionally decorated and charming. The grounds are lovely too. Breakfast was scrumptious and generous provision of teas and coffees in the room. Felt good value and would thoroughly recommend.
Nothing, all spot on.
Lovely building, friendly staff, good breakfast
Breakfast was excellent and freshly made.
The bathroom was tired and needs a makeover. The shower head placed on the taps could not be put on the wall bracket by my partner because it was too high.
Welcoming, nicely old fashioned
This is not a 'dislike' just a comment that it is a shame more cannot be done with the grounds
The hotel was lovely very old character cosy and very friendly and attentive staff breakfast was really nice and hotel was perfect for a nice break after Christmas
Everything was fine no complaints at all
Very friendly staff. Great breakfast. Overall very happy stay
We had a big room with a very small double bed in it. A larger and more luxurious bed would have been much more fitting and comfortable in the lovely room.
A place with lots of character. The staff were very polite and helpful
So many breakfast choices and was delicious. Staff were exceptionally friendly and helpful. Loved the decor.
Excellent breakfast, property was decorated so pretty for Christmas
Slightly dated rooms but was very comfortable
Bedroom was nice and dark, old fashion shutters on the windows as well as nice thick curtains.
Heating, or lack of it. Wasn’t brave enough to use the shower, lucky it was only a one night stay. Breakfast room was also cold. No self service for any breakfast items. Only one member of staff working.
Beautiful building in lovely grounds - the rooms were lovely and quiet - we couldn’t hear anything when in our room
Easy to find, good location Friendly staff free upgrade to a double good breakfasts Excellent for a solo traveller
Lovely old house beautifully decorated. Friendly, helpful staff. A good sized room with a very large comfortable bed. We will be back!
Nothing!
Lovely quiet location, genuinely friendly staff, excellent breakfast
We love this place - the staff are exceptionally friendly and attentive without being intrusive.

Customer service was excellent, nothing was too much trouble, we highly recommend the full English breakfasts at the hotel, grounds well maintained. We're looking forward to visiting again soon.
Accomodated us with an early breakfast Could eat a take away in the lounge as we were late arriving
A lovely building and surroundings
Nothing
The staff were incredible! Genuinely friendly, helpful, chatty, professional. The best staff service I've experienced anywhere I've stayed in UK or abroad. Natalie was especially great on the Saturday night with helping to get us food and drinks, showing us to our room and checking to make sure we had everything we needed. Loved the decor. Beautiful building. Easy parking. Excellent WiFi reception. Food was beautifully presented. Even the soup was presented on lovely crockery. We liked that there were 3 seating areas downstairs, and we could use the breakfast room as well if we wanted to. Bar snacks were incredibly cheap, but good portions and tasty. Loved little touches like having pears from the refectory garden out for guests to help themselves to. Lots of storage space for clothes etc in bedroom. Really enjoyed having a bath as well as a shower option - and we chose just a basic twin. Bedroom was a really good size. Very cosy and warm. Bed was comfortable and we slept really well. Easy parking right by building. Well signposted. Breakfast menu was varied and you could have everything on it. There were dietary choices, which I was delighted to see as I'm gluten intolerant. There were also daily free spreads and options to milk for vegans. Brilliant!! We will definitely stay again and recommend the Refectory in Wem to others wanting to visit Shropshire. The welcoming email we received on booking arrived quickly and was very detailed and helpful. And also sounded friendly. We were sad to leave after only one night.
I have to be really picky just to find little faults... some decor was a little old eg. Blind in our bathroom was faded in some areas from sun.
Great location and great staff
The additional beds in the room were not very comfortable
The staff were very friendly and helpful and breakfast was excellent with plenty of choice. The slight problem we had with our room was sorted quickly and helpfully,
Nothing really
Lot of Character
Needs updating, but it in keeping with the property
A beautiful old building in a lovely small town. The staff were wonderful and couldn't do enough for us. Natalie and Kate were Jill's of all trades and so was the lady who cleaned the rooms. Nothing was too much trouble for them. The bed was big and comfortable too. Highly recommended.
Nothing to dislike.
Lovely building in convenient location. Staff were exceptionally friendly and helpful and provide excellent service. Room was clean and comfortable. Breakfast was amazing - so much to choose from and delicious! Excellent value. Highly recommended.
Only light snacks available in the evening. It would have been nice to be able to get a proper evening meal.
The staff at the Old Rectory were fantastic. Nothing was too much trouble. A big shout out to Kate in particular who went above and beyond. The setting is lovely, lots of grounds and a short stroll into the high street. There's a great little bar and a lovely room to sit and relax in. Breakfast was great, we chose American pancakes. They were freshly made and delicious.
We stayed in the top floor, although the heating was at a lovely warm level throughout around the building, our rooms were quite cold. The heating was on but not enough to heat the room.
