The location was excellent for access to the coastal path and the path down the harbour. The breakfast and evening meal were excellent

A lovely family run business, where nothing is too much trouble. Such friendly people that run the place. Food is fresh and tasty, with breakfast, and an evening meal if you order before 4pm (which is extra). Room had a fantastic sea view. Bed was very good comfortable, and shower good and hot. Nice thick fluffy towels. The whole place was very welcoming and homely. Would definitely stay again!0

The decor is a little outdated and the soft furnishings were tired. The four poster bed was a nice touch but the mattress wasn’t comfortable.

Absolutely stunning hotel. The location is amazing with breathtaking views of the sea and right next to the cliff railway. Our family room was more like an apartment, lovely and spacious and immaculately clean. The service at breakfast was extremely efficient with very friendly staff. We loved it and will certainly be returning.

An incredible location with a wonderful view. Rebecca (the owner) gave us a truly warm welcome. The building is old but very well maintained and retains an incredible charm. The communal areas and rooms are lovely and stylishly furnished. The breakfast was excellent, with a consistently high standard of service. There’s also the option to charge your electric car.

The north cliff is a little gem off a hotel,amazing location with such fantastic views and so relaxing,we had the family suite over looking the bay,the room was spacious and the beds very comfortable,liked the fact that breakfast was cooked for you on order at your table which was also very nice and plentiful,Rebecca and Steve made us feel very welcome and are doing and amazing job ! The hotel is in a great location; overlooking the sea and close to the Valley of Rocks hiking trail, but also easily walkable to restaurants and shops. Our room was clean and quiet, with comfortable beds. Breakfast was very good, and so was the service that we received from the excellent staff.

Our room had a lot of furniture in it for such a small space - twin beds, side tables, desk, cupboard, sofa and two chairs - which left barely enough room to move around in.

Absolutely amazing place! A charming, small-scale, classic English hotel in a truly unique setting, perched right on top of the cliffs. We stayed here as a family and absolutely loved it. Our room was very spacious and full of character, with a fantastic view. The owners and staff were exceptionally friendly and helpful, which made our stay even more enjoyable. The hotel is right next to the Valley of Rocks, so you can simply walk there, and it is also conveniently located next to the Cliff Railway to Lynmouth. A wonderful place to stay, and somewhere we would happily return to!

Loved this hotel. They have managed to keep the old world charm and also provide modern room facilities. The view out to sea was fantastic, even from the loo! The staff are really friendly and helpful. There are lovely rooms to relax in and a little honesty bar. Breakfast was good. Just sorry we were only staying one night.

What a lovely hotel. The view is amazing and the couple that run it were so friendly and accommodating. It’s in a perfect location to get to Lynton or get the railway down to Lynmouth. I’m just gutted we only booked the one night, we will be back though. Especially because our dog can go too!

Just got back from a lovely trip to Lynton at the North Cliff. What a fantastic experience the hotel and the owners are both top class. From the beginning no problem parking lots of spaces. We checked in and were even helped upstairs with our bags. The room was lovely clean, nice decor and a good bathroom and the view - wow! We don’t eat dinner at the hotel but the breakfasts are superb, great choice and a superb cooked breakfast as well. Another nice touch is the honesty bar which has a drink for anyone and you just write down what you had and pay when you checkout. Finally the cliff railway right by the hotel is lovely to watch while having a drink on the terrace with its spectacular views. Well done to the owners for making such a lovely hotel and making us and our little dog so welcome. Can’t wait to come back

Wir haben das Hotel vor allem wegen seiner wunderschönen Lage und der stilvollen Einrichtung gebucht und wurden nicht enttäuscht. Von unserer gemütlich und bequem ausgestatteten Suite mit einem Doppelbett und einem zweiten Zimmer mit zwei Einzelbetten hatten wir einen fantastischen Ausblick auf das Meer. Das Frühstück, das in einem im alten Stil eingerichteten Speiserauml serviert wird, war sehr gut. Das Personal war sehr freundlich. Parken konnten wir vor dem Haus.

Alles war so, wie wir es erwartet hatten.

Our stay at North Cliff Hotel will always be one of the most memorable experiences our family has had. Before we even arrived, we found ourselves in a very stressful situation. Our rental car suffered a flat tire about 25 miles away, and we were stranded with our family of six after 5 PM with no way to reach the hotel. I called the hotel, and Rebecca immediately treated us as though we were family. She arranged for a local taxi company to pick us up and coordinated everything while we waited. Thanks to her kindness and quick thinking, we were able to reach the hotel safely. What touched us the most was that while we were enjoying dinner with our family, Rebecca and Paul quietly took care of all the arrangements for our luggage and ensured everything was ready for us. It was far beyond what anyone would expect from a hotel owner. Her genuine care and compassion turned a very difficult day into one we will always remember with gratitude. The hotel itself is absolutely beautiful. It has incredible character, a rich sense of history, and has been lovingly preserved while offering every comfort. The views from the rooms are simply breathtaking and among the best we experienced during our trip. The breakfast the following morning was delicious, and every member of the staff was warm, welcoming, and attentive. The hospitality throughout our stay was exceptional. A heartfelt thank you to Rebecca and Paul for making us feel like part of your family. Your kindness, generosity, and outstanding hospitality made our visit truly unforgettable. We cannot recommend North Cliff Hotel highly enough and hope to return again someday.

The breakfast was great with a huge choice. My single room was compact but perfectly formed with wonderful view across the bay.

Would definitely recommend this hotel. Staff were lovely and it’s in a great situation to explore the area. Room was airy in the hot weather with everything you need.

This was my first hotel holiday with my little dog and Rebecca and Steve made us feel so welcome. Breakfast on the decking each day was perfect.

Sitting on the balcony of this hotel looking at the view of the cliffs of North Devon is priceless. Also, we dined twice at the hotel and the food was excellent. Although we had a small room at the rear of the hotel, I'm told all the other bedrooms have views of the sea. The walk through the Valley of the Rocks begins right next door! Taking the funicular down to Lynmouth is fun. The shops in both towns were mostly good. We didn't have time to explore much of Exmoor but that is another plus of this hotel's location. An honor system, signing for drinks in the dining room, any time of day is a great solution.

Narrow lanes, leading up hills to hotel, were a bit precarious but we got used to it!

Friendly hotel, fantastic contact beforehand (especially as they had issues receiving my payment via booking.com but reassured me that the stay was definitely still booked! Cater well for walkers, very generous breakfast considering the price. Attentive staff. Nice terrace and the view from our room was fantastic

Great hotel and stunning location. I was upgraded to a double room with four poster bed looking out at the sea. Bed was very comfortable. Evening meal was good they will even make you a packed lunch. Will definitely stay there again.

Oh my goodness, this hotel is AMAZING!!! A beautiful hotel in a beautiful location. Staff were lovely and SO helpful and friendly. Food was amazing. Sitting on the raised deck area enjoying the view and watching the cliff railway go past was brilliant. And our room, don't get me stared! We booked room 1 which is a family suite, with 2 bedrooms, shared bathroom and a private lounge, and the view!!! Awesome! We seriously can't wait to stay again!

Another great stay Three years ago we wrote this: Will it is, Steve, Rebecca and the staff make you feel extremely welcome from the minute you walk in the door. This is not a chain hotel it is a family business with all the lovely little touches that they can offer making it an extremely pleasant stay. I am not going to list all the good points as it is all good but what I am going to say is we had a room with a view of the sea and what a great way to wake up. You will not be disappointed with this hotel. Three years on it has only got better and the breakfast is spot on!!!! In the area give this hotel ago you will not be disappointed

Had a wonderful stay at north cliff hotel. Was the most amazing location with a fabulous sea view from our bedroom. Staff and owners very friendly and helpful with suggested coastal walks. Rooms clean and comfortable, breakfast delicious. Beautiful walk to the valley of rocks and a nice evening stroll down to Lynmouth for chips on the beach. Walked them off on the climb back to the hotel! (Or you can cheat and get the fernicular back up). Thank you for a perfect weekend away.

Private Parking was available, but quite difficult to execute when full, because of hilly terrain.

We loved our stay at the North Cliff Hotel and have already told friends and family about it. The basic double room was just about big enough for 2 of us and a dog. The fact it’s dog friendly throughout was great! The staff were all friendly, the honesty bar was brilliant and well stocked, the views incredible, the breakfast - all topped off with some great weather. Wishing the hotel all the best and we will be back with the kids.

Bed was a little bit too hard for our liking so wasn’t that comfortable but that’s just our personal preference.

Really enjoyed our 4 day stay at North Cliff Hotel, very friendly staff, a comfortable, clean room with lovely sea views. We had an electric car which we could charge in the small car park (two chargers @7kw). Breakfast was satisfactory and the staff were happy to customise it to your requirement. Great location right next to the funicular with a private path which you can use. I recommend this hotel.

We stayed one night on our coast path walk. The hotel is in a great location, right on the path itself, and convenient for the town and the railway. The staff were all really lovely. The hotel is quite old, and the age did show in a few places, such as the 10-minute wait for hot water in the shower. Breakfast was OK (although i recommend they change the brand of vege sausages!) We’d stay again, and it would be a good base to explore the area.
