The restaurant was OK. I expected more for a Michelin star restaurant. The restaurant staff were excellent.
We booked a privilege twin room - £200+ for the night plus breakfast. The room and bathroom were very dated. This is not a cheap hotel. Unbelievably poor bedroom, chipped furniture and ripped curtains poorly hung. Looks like it was furniture sourced from a flea market. The decoration and bathroom can be described at best as time warped. Felt more like a council supported care home than a hotel. The toilet bowl was brown, the seat did not fit the bowl - gross. No bottled water, just tap water. No way to get room service. The pluming was antiquated - almost needed a spanner to turn the hot water tap on, the images show the grouting - appalling. We could not bring ourselves to use the bath. Where was the shower - non existent. Breakfast was reasonable. Would we stay there again? NO WAY. What a costly disappointment.
Central location in the village
Rooms were old and not well appointed. Very poor room nothing like the pictures shown on the booking.com website for a standard bedroom.
Historic hotel in the centre of the village Comfortable room with character with modern facilities helpful staff spa had good facilities Michelin star restaurant with gastronomic menu very good but cost more than the room for 2 people
Passages in hotel could be better lit
On attend encore… vraiment déçu.
Location is excellent
Room was quite small. There was only a handheld shower in the bath. No wall mounted shower fixing. The bathroom extractor fan did not work, hence bathroom got steamy.
Cadre tranquille, belle piscine, TB petit déjeuner
petit frigo par forte chaleur serait appréciable
It's a very nice hotel. With alot of character. On the inside the old beauty is kept and it gives very cozy vibes. The only thing was that the wifi didn't work. We didn't ask for help because we only stayed one night so it might have been resolved easily. Tip for visiting the town. Nothing food wise was open in the evening (Do not believe Google because he said things were open but they were not). Only the Michelin restaurant was open. It's probably because we visited in mid season but we had to drive a couple of towns farder to find something. The staff was very nice though and the breakfast was really good.
The hotel has a Michelin star restaurant as part of the facilities,in which, we ate one evening. A very expensive meal with equally expensive wine but that was to be expected . However, the facilities just don’t match promotional hype the place is given
Facilities poor
We loved literally everything.
A must see village in France hotel was great but arrived a day after a national holiday where everyone in the cafe etc had worked so whole village took the next day off so nothing was open couldn’t even get a beer ,would have been nice to have been told when booking
All good
beautiful location i
dirty and rooms need upgrading.
Large room, with a separate sitting room area in the old part of the hotel overlooking the town square. The room was fine, clean, and it was dog-friendly. Good parking and a great restaurant.
No air conditioning, very hot, and the spa closed earlier than advertised so we could not use the pool or any of the facilities.
Stayed during a heatwave in France. No A/C in the room so a fan would have made our stay more comfortable.
Very good although included in booking price tried to charge again
We were not allowed to use sauna unless the our group of 4 paid 100 euros
Perfect location. Room was compact but fine for our one night stay. Breakfast was plentiful and fresh.
bathroom was small. Shower over the bath not our preference.
Lovely situation. Stairs a bit of a problem for my husband. Food very good.
Difficult to find where reception and indeed anywhere was when we were coming from the carpark
Lovely old hotel with lots of character right in the middle of town
The location
The room was cramped and not well maintained. The carpet had a tear in it and the toilet was too small. There was a dead pigeon in the gutter outside our room window.
Simple but very good.
Breakfast service was chaotic with only one working coffee machine for about 30 guests and a poor selection of items and no baguettes.
On arrival we were kept waiting for +20 minutes while the receptionist dealt with a phone call, this while other guests were also waiting to check in. My wife was very tired after a long drive so we had not option but to wait, even though we considered cancelling our stay and going elsewhere. This rudeness was capped by the receptionist telling us we had gone to the (now closed) other reception in the hotel annexe next door, where 'there was a sign telling you to check in here'. We looked the next morning and there was no such sign. To blame the customer in these circumstances is rude and unmprofessional.
Pretty village, comfortable room.
The garden was really grubby, lots of bird mess on tables. Some staff didn’t seem to bothered. The spa was overrated.
Very convenient and lots of room
We struggled locking the doors of two of the properties
Breakfast was simple but with very high quality produce on offer. Quality trumps choice, so full marks.
- at the centre of town and a great place to start exploration of the region. We did day trips to Chateau de Vasceuil and Rouen - Lyons-la-foret as very beautiful and the hotel blends very sympathetically with it all and uses local buildings cleverly - pleasant, friendly staff - we had two mini houses - lovely living rooms and little kitchenettes so perfect for our family, reasonably comfortable BUT not as comfortable as the hotel rooms themselves (also stayed last June) - decent breakfast
- lumpy weird square pillows (but comfortable beds) - as a hotel guest you have spa access but the spa will only give hotel guests a towel and not a robe - felt petty - they could have been more proactive / showed initiative on arrival telling us critical / useful information: eg1. you have to book spa treatments well in advance- everything was booked out yet the hotel had phoned us in advance to ask if we wanted brunch or breakfast on the Sunday but didn’t mention to book spa treatments eg2- it was bastille day but no mention was made of that either so we heard fireworks at 11 and wondered why. Plus couldn’t get a restaurant table anywhere that evening
Location was perfect as were the gardens outside. The evening meal was exceptional and the two waiters were both charming and helpful.
The room was very small and the bathroom tiny. We could hardly fit our luggage in. It was cramped
food was very good and the basic menu was good value for money
the pillows
The confort and calm
No sofa in the apartment (little house)
The location. The room The staff The dinner in the restaurant The history
The bath with shower handle but not able to shower. The breakfast fell short of what would be expected.
Situation and characterful building Fantastic food
Poor signage to Reception check in Blinds in bathroom were shoddy
Charming medieval buildings. Substantial breakfast.
Room layout was awkward. Stairs were a steep spiral and dangerous to go up or down. Rooms were over 300 metres from main hotel which made going to breakfast a hike. Poor WiFi, almost useless. Unnecessarily rigid check in time. Poor value for money.

What guests love
Areas to consider
Cleanliness
7.2/10Mixed comments: one small cleanliness problem was quickly resolved, but several reviews mention that housekeeping could be improved and that some equipment felt dated.
Service
9/10Mostly positive staff interactions (personnel agréable, very friendly at breakfast) though a few guests found reception aloof and some complaints were not satisfactorily handled.
Location
10/10Consistently praised: central position in the village, beautiful setting and close to local sights — repeatedly described as an exceptional location.
Room Quality
6.4/10Multiple reports of rooms being too hot (no AC/ventilation), small or cramped layouts and some outdated bathrooms; comfort uneven across units (annexes/upper floors worse).
Amenities
6.6/10Pool is appreciated but small; spa was a common disappointment with shortages (towels, access) and lack of ventilation/AC affecting perceived amenity quality.
Value for Money
5.8/10Several guests explicitly called the price too high for the level of service and facilities received; perceived poor value in multiple reviews.
Food and Beverage
9/10Strong points: restaurant described as incredible/gastronomic and breakfasts often praised, though a few noted issues with temperatures of juices/dairy.
Overall Experience
7.6/10Charming, picturesque hotel with excellent location and dining, but repeated problems with heat/no AC, spa shortcomings and value concerns make the overall stay mixed.
