Très bel hôtel où on s’y sent bien. Les jeunes enfants y sont bienvenus. Le personnel est très agréable et sympathique. Les restaurants sont très bons. J’ai profité d’un soin au spa qui était parfait. L’emplacement dans l’Alpe est idéal pour accéder au centre et à des départs de randonnées.

Il semble malheureusement y avoir des problèmes d’organisation du personnel pour le service des restaurants et du bar. Le temps d’attente est long et le service est à revoir, surtout pour un 5 étoiles. C’est très dommage car le personnel est pour autant très sympathique. L’aménagement de l’hôtel est particulier puisque nous comprenons qu’il s’est agrandi au fil du temps. Résultat, il fallait prendre 2 ascenseurs et plusieurs couloirs rien que pour rejoindre notre chambre depuis la réception

The staff at the reception and in the garage is a 10/10. Area at the Pool when many people are there could be Little Bit improved. Also for breakfast the outside seating area should be more welcoming. For 5 ***** the bar on the terrace should offer a bit better service. All over we had a very good experience in your hotel. We booked this hotel online from Japan and stayed for four nights while participating in a cycling event. Even before our arrival, we exchanged several messages with the hotel staff. Their responses were always prompt, friendly, and incredibly helpful, giving us confidence that we had chosen the right place. When we finally arrived after a long journey, the warm welcome was exactly as we had hoped for. The kindness and genuine hospitality of the staff immediately made us feel relaxed and at home. The location is breathtaking, with stunning mountain views, and the hotel itself is beautifully designed to create a peaceful and comfortable atmosphere. It was the perfect place to recover after long days of cycling. Every restaurant in the hotel exceeded our expectations. The food was excellent, and enjoying the jacuzzi and swimming pool surrounded by the mountains was an unforgettable experience. Despite offering luxury facilities, the hotel never felt formal or intimidating. Instead, it had a warm and welcoming atmosphere that made us feel completely at ease. As Japanese visitors, we especially appreciated how courteous and respectful every member of the staff was. We would happily return to Alpe d'Huez just to stay at this hotel again. It truly exceeded all of our expectations. Thank you for making our trip so memorable.

The hotel is as its pictures, in a beautiful location. The staff were lovely and the communal spaces great, especially the rooftop pool area & the breakfast room. Our room had a large balcony with a great view.

For a 5* hotel i was slightly disappointed in our room - both size & condition.

Fabulous welcome from the car parking attendant was a lovely start. Reception staff superb - check in efficient - room beautiful and clean - entire hotel smelt lovely and so well maintained and kept - truly 5 star! The location and views are of course what stand out and they are truly superb. Close to bars restaurants and the village centre only a few minutes walk away. Pool area was also very well decked out and maintained (if slightly small)

No air con in 30 degree heat makes for hot nights even with the fan provided on request. Service in the Esperance restaurant for both breakfast and dinner was friendly and polite but disorganised - food and drinks going to the wrong tables - long wait for the bill and relatively costly for the quality.

Tasteful alpine decor, staff were incredible and couldn’t do enough.

Het hotel is gelegen op een zeer mooie locatie op de top van de Alpe d'Huez. Een eigen parking, sport, zwem en spa faciliteiten. Personeel is zeer vriendelijk en behulpzaam. Het eten in de eigen restaurants is uitstekend voor een respectable prijs en hetzelfde geld voor het ontbijt. Voor kinderen zou ik dit hotel niet aanbevelen. Het is geen goedkoop hotel maar je krijgt wel waar voor je geld.

Soms grote groepen mensen tijdens het diner wat behoorlijk luidruchtig kan zijn. Verder was het vrij warm in de hotelkamers. Slapen met de deuren open kan maar vliegen komen dan wel binnen.

Sehr schönes hotel, upgrade Zimmer erhalten, Abendessen war sehr gut, gute Lage v.a. Im Winter direkt beim Lift, grosse Garage, freundlicher empfang und freundliches Personal

Nur ein Waschbecken im Bad der Suite, service an der Bar wenig aufmerksam, grosse Gesellschaft war sehr laut und hätte in zweitem Restaurant bedient werden können, Frühstück für €30 ist preislich am oberen Ende.

Cleaning service every day. Staff was so nice and welcoming. Coffee was so good. Hours of bar and restaurants were good.

Think pool and sauna should be open later than 8. I thought it was weird we had to get our car keys from valet each day. We should be able to come and go as we please instead of waiting for the valet to arrive.

Très bien placé par rapport aux pistes (une petite remontée avec des paniers située juste devant l’hôtel permet d’accéder directement sur les pistes). L’espace détente sur la terrasse est idéal et est baigné de soleil une bonne partie de la journée. Petit déjeuner complet avec large variété de produits.

Superbe hôtel au pied des pistes, chambre spacieuse et confortable. Personnel très agréable, sympathique et attentionné tout au long du séjour. Expérience au SPA tres agréable après une journée de ski.

Séjour exceptionnel ! Chambre avec grand lit très confortable positionné face à la fenêtre avec vue sur les montagnes. Balcon idéal pour l'apéro ou le petit dej au soleil. Acceuil du personnel particulièrement agréable. Spa et piscine extérieurs et intérieurs (avec supplément pour l'intérieur) superbes. Et surtout, skis aux pieds pour le retour. Pour l'aller, il suffit de traverser la rue. C'est un très bel endroit. Des prix en baisse pour la fin de saison. Que rêver de mieux ?

Notre chambre était moins bien que l’année dernière Le wifi ne fonctionnait pas, les télévisions non plus, les rideaux étaient arrachés et nous avons eu une inondations dans la chambre Le service du petit déjeuner est moins aimable et le niveau de la nourriture a baissé c’est dommage

This hotel is in a great location - first impressions were good and reception staff are lovely. Our room was lovely and apart from it being very hot with noisy radiators we loved it. The negatives sadly were the kids menu - very expensive and literally not child friendly at all - breakfast aft too expensive for the quality - I would eat out rather than pay to eat there. The wine list was the biggest disappointment - extremely expensive and barely any availability of the wine that they did advertise - it was a shame as it should be lovely but quite a few things let it down.

This is a fine hotel, but it is certainly not five star luxury so do not set your expectations too high. My family had a large loft room. Upon arriving, the transfer asked for payment of the £800 of transfers in cash and told me the hotel could not put it on the bill (despite the hotel organising it). After some arguing at reception, they eventually agreed to put it on my bill. Why they do not have that relationship with their service providers already I don't know, especially when their transfers are more than double the price of normal taxis. Upon checking in, no one showed me to my room. They told me some directions (which involved going to another building and taking two different lifts), but did not show me how to get there (even with one of the more expensive rooms in the hotel). Once I got to my room, I waited 45 minutes and my luggage had still not arrived. I called reception to chase it, and it came about an hour after I had checked in (so could not change my clothes etc). Before I arrived at the hotel, I had filled in their form about my preferences including drinks I wanted in the mini-bar. It was a complete waste of my time as the mini bar was empty. I walked back down to reception and asked that they reviewed my preferences and put the drinks in there (I am diabetic, so wanted some drinks with sugar in case of low blood sugar). They did not put the drinks in the fridge that I had spent time requesting on the sheet, but just a random selection. Skipping ahead, when checking out, they tried to charge me for all the drinks as if I had ordered them as room service, even though I had not drunk them. This was nearly €40 for drinks I had not touched. One evening at the bar, I sat down to do some work before dinner. I was sat at the table near the bar/reception for an hour and not once did anyone offer me a drink or snacks (despite me trying to catch the glimpse of a staff member). Eventually I left and told reception that I could not wait more than an hour for a coffee or glass of water at the very least, so went out to a bar nearby instead. The breakfast service is especially bad. They supposedly have cooked egg options but not once over our stay did they come and ask for our order. We were left there waiting. I once asked for butter (it is not next to the toast and bread), and the waitress just told me where to go and get it. As a five star hotel, you can go and get me a packet of butter whilst I am with my wife and baby. On the last day, I left to go to my room and told the reception staff that my family had been waiting for 45 minutes and no one had taken our order. She apologised but my wife and baby still waited another 20 minutes before anyone took their order (although someone did bring them a coffee which they had not ordered in the meantime). The service is just as bad in the evening - they were clearly having issues as at one point the chef came out to the moan at the waiters. Not once did they come and ask how the food was or offer more drinks. Every time you have to flag them down and hope they don't forget you (even just to clear the plates). They just don't care and everything is so slow. There is a ski rental shop in the basement, but the hotel don't have any ability to charge the skis to the room, so that's another extra hassle for guests. The same is true off ski passes, they make you pay separately rather than putting everything on the room. The spa is just a small pool/jacuzzi with a sauna and steam room. It would be fine as a normal spa for a little hotel, but at Grandes Rousses guests have to pre-book a one hour slot then pay extra to use it. It is not very relaxing having to keep one eye on the clock lest be kicked-out. I have never seen anything like it. Also, the keypads on the lockers were broken so I could not lock my belongings which is annoying when the spa is open to the public. The loft room itself is quite nice with a comfortable bed and nice sitting area, and a decent bath and shower. This was our third ski trip of the winter and the Grandes Rousses is by far the worst hotel of the season. If you want a nice room and basic service in a good location, this is absolutely fine. If you want a proper five star hotel, go elsewhere.

La localisation à deux pas des remontées mécaniques et possibilité de revenir à ski à l’établissement. À noter que un magasin de location de matériel de ski est à disposition dans l’établissement.

Isolation phonique est clairement à revoir. Lorsque vous voisins rentrent dans leur chambre, c’est comme s’il rentre dans la vôtre, on est clairement pas au niveau d’un hôtel cinq étoiles tout au plus un 4 étoiles.

Vu le prix de la chambre, cela méritait mieux que d’avoir une chambre d’une suite. On entend tous les bruits, au dessus,à côté…Nous n’avons même pas pu bénéficier du parking , et le soir où nous sommes arrivés, il y avait beaucoup de neige. J’ai été vraiment déçu des prestations par rapport au prix payé. C’est de l’argent dépensé pour rien.

I had a wonderful stay at this beautiful hotel. The property is stunning, the rooms are very luxurious and comfortable, the location is excellent, and the staff were extremely friendly and helpful throughout our visit. Everything was really top-quality and I truly enjoyed my stay. I only have some small suggestions that might make the experience even better. First, it would be very convenient to have a hook near the shower in the bathroom so that you can hang a towel or bathrobe and easily reach it when stepping out of the shower. Second, it took me a moment to understand how the bathroom window can be darkened or covered. At first it gives the impression that people outside might be able to see in, as there is no visible curtain or shutter. It might be helpful to mention somewhere, or briefly explain to guests before they enter the room, how this works so they know how to ensure privacy. Finally, one small point regarding the prices of drinks: on our first evening we ordered a bottle of rosé wine and were charged €90. In our opinion, this is quite a high price for a bottle of rosé, and it might be worth reviewing the pricing.

I was the leader of a group of 5 friends looking forward to staying at The Grande Rousses 5* Hotel in Alpe d’Huez. Sadly we were let down on virtually every level from rooms, to food, to bar, to service and health &safety. Our room (123)was relatively small with two single beds squeezed together a little room on one side to climb in. We were right above the bar where an excellent solo singer/guitarist was playing so an early night was off the cards as the noise drifted up to our room. Another group member had no safe and when requested took 3 days to arrive. The Esperance Restaurant was a beautiful venue and offered breakfast and an ALaCarte evening menu . Breakfast offerings were pretty limited in comparison with other ski resorts we have stayed in and service was inconsistent in regard to bread/jams on tables , chipped crockery and specialty drinks offered or not offered. Coffee tea flasks were small and often found to be empty. The scrambled eggs on one morning were a strange blue/green colour so were unappealing to say the least. Waiting staff were appearing at both breakfast and dinner with trays of food obviously unsure as to which tables they were for. There was a general sense of mild chaos and panic within the venue so there are apparently training issues to be solved.Being with Crystal Ski we were on a set menu with only two choices per course. Warning signs flashed up on the first few nights as ingredients were being repeated from starter to main and from main to desserts. Our first dinner included a tasty duck breast main, however two days later the identical dish appeared again. It was at this point that I arranged a meeting with the Restaurant Manager who agreed that these issues should not be happening. As a gesture of goodwill we were offered the choice of going A La Carte the next evening and were given a complimentary bottle of wine. This meal was certainly an improvement but there were still issues with certain dishes. We were back on the set menu the next evening and started with an excellent seared tuna dish but unfortunately matters went seriously downhill with the main courses as we were all served chicken which wasn’t cooked through and had to send them back to the kitchen. Another meal experience spoiled and a potential case of food poisoning avoided. On our final night we were back on the A La Carte with another bottle of complimentary wine and thankfully this evening went without a hitch. The lounge bar was part of the reception/ foyer area and provided a well decorated and relaxing place to hang out for pre dinner drinks. Rarely busy however it was let down by inattentive bar staff who seemed more interested in chatting rather than serving virtually the only guests in the area. On our final night we had delicious cocktails then went to dinner for around two and a half hours only to find our empty glasses still on the table where we had intended taking after dinner coffees. On a final note on health and safety the resort had experienced heavy snowfall in the week prior to our arrival . As a consequence there were two areas which we considered were dangerous and should have been cordoned off rather than having exposing guests to icy and slippery surfaces. These were the third floor spa and the rear entrance to the ski rental/ storage shop. Finally the quality of any establishment can be judged by how they deal with legitimate complaints . The Grand Rousses Management judging by their responses to Trip Advisor reviews appear to think that by offering free drinks that all is done and dusted ,no other compensation should be forthcoming and clients will return home happy. Sadly not this reviewer who will follow up our terrible experiences with our Tour Company in the hope of getting satisfaction and appropriate recompense. In closing I sincerely hope that The GR Team will review their practices put additional training where required and as a consequence truly live up to their 5* status.

A beautiful hotel perfectly located in the heart of Alpe d’Huez. The service is excellent and the team is always helpful and friendly. The spa is a perfect place to relax with an incredible view of the Alps. The breakfast is varied and very generous. A great place to stay in the mountains. Rooms are very clean and cosy Stafs very friendly and attentive to your demands.

This stylish, centrally hotel has been refurbished to a high standard. But while its marketing promises guests a high level of quality and service, it struggles to deliver. The entrance foyer, lounge and dining room are certainly impressive. However, the rooms we booked were small for a four star hotel. They also had a number of issues, such as a missing safe, an unfathomable minibar system and intermittent TV signal. The large French window onto the balcony provided plenty of light, but was not ideal for ventilation. On a positive note, housekeeping was thorough and there was plenty of hot water. Downstairs the lounge bar ambience was pleasant, but drinks were very expensive (gin & tonic 20 euros, cocktails 20-25). Wine prices in the dining room were equally high. Live music provided every evening was a nice touch, though the volume was intrusive at times. Moving on to the outdoor wellness area: this consisted of a small heated pool and a hot tub (out of service), plus a basic sauna. An additional fee is charged to access the 'alpine' spa in the basement, where holistic treatments are available. Parking cost 30 euros a day. Half-board meals were poor, ranging from the unappetizing, lukewarm or even inedible (uncooked chicken!). There was a general lack of organisation in the dining room, with waits between courses occasionally up to 30 mins. Admittedly our stay was during the very busy French school holidays, but staff must have been prepared for this. All in all, far too many issues, though to be fair the hotel did their best to respond to our complaints. They admitted current problems in the kitchen, and tried to soothe the situation over with free drinks. We would rather have had real improvement. While the staff were friendly and hard working, poor communication and lack of training made for an unnecessarily stressful work environment. Despite its high ranking, the hotel had no dedicated ski room with lockers and heated boot racks. Instead boots had to be changed in a very busy and cramped rental shop, with guests and non-residents competing for somewhere to sit. Booking.com gives the hotel 4 stars, whereas the hotel itself claims 5 stars. From our experience it deserves no more than 3 stars. A shake-up of the management, and especially the kitchen, would hopefully restore its reputation for quality and service.

This is not a 5* hotel. The bed in a twin bed room was so narrow that every time you turned, blanket fell to the floor and you had to stay awake not to fall off the bed yourself. Totally ridiculous. Towels in the bathroom where so worn down that it felt you are using sandpaper. Wifi speed was below 3 mbps what does not allow to do any serious work or watch videos. Sauna in the pool area was a joke, it had maybe 45 degrees in it. When we arrived 21:30 we were told that restaurant kitchen is already closed and we cannot eat there. When i tried to book for next night i was told everything is fully booked only to learn some minutes later that yes we have a place for 2. I did not understand what the theatrics was for as next night restaurant was half empty.

The below would not put me off staying here but a few improvements could be made: - breakfast items should be stored better (bacon, hashbrowns, pancakes) were cold - did not like the fact you had to pay for the indoor spa considering is a fairly pricey stay in first place. The outdoor spa was nice bur didn’t compensate given temp of pool and hot tub was lukewarm

Beds in the hotel are ridiculously narrow, probably from a leftover from the kindergarten. You cannot sleep there as every time you turn you are at risk of falling off. Towels in the bathroom are so worn down that you feel like using a sandpaper. Wifi speed is 2-3 mbps what is not enough for any serious work or video stream. Sauna near the pool is a joke, it had max 40 degrees in it.

The staff was incredibly kind and welcoming. The location was perfect, and the spa services were outstanding. I also really enjoyed the excellent bar, and overall, the service throughout our stay was superb.

We had a glorious time with you we wish we were there longer. The staff were excellent attentive and very friendly, The hotel was gorgeous, perfectly located and everything we're hoping it would be. A few point of constructive criticism would be the following. Not enough verity children food options in the the hotels restaurant. Likewise with the options of food from the bar. The breakfast we felt wasn't up to the standed of the rest of the hotel slightly laking in hot food options and those that were avalable weren't of the greatest quality, nothing available to order freshly made from the kitchen. The last biggest gripe we had was the additional payment required to use the spa. This wasn't explained to us during booking or checkin until we arrived in robes at the spa desk. Your called a Hotel and Spa so the spa should be part of the room rate not an addition. We've never experienced this with 20years of spa hotel visits to 30plus spas all over the world. If these points were given some consideration we would defiantly look to stay with you again next year hopefully for longer next time.
