International au Lac Historic Lakeside Hotel

I booked this property based on location and price. Restaurants were close by and sites were walkable. Taking the bus back to the train station was easily accessible. The staff were friendly and helpful. The lake is beautiful. They had and exceptional breakfast buffet that was included in our booking. Our room was a "landmark" view which meant it overlooked the roof of the church next door. Also it lacked natural lighting.

Sehr schönes Hotel mit aussergewöhnlich freundlichem Personal. Ich war schon mehrmals dort und werde gerne wieder hingehen.

This hotel has a great location to see the city. The breakfast buffet was delicious and has a lot of variety. The hotel staff (especially Alessandro at the breakfast) were friendly and helpful.

Die Lage des Hotels ist gut.

Das Hotel ist sehr stark in die Jahre gekommen. Von kaputten Fliesen im Bad über einen muffligen Geruch im Hotelzimmer.

Struttura storica situata sul lungolago in zona centralissima. Personale gentilissimo e super disponibile. Piacevole servizio di Honesty Bar al primo piano con terrazzino all’aperto sul lungolago. Camera comoda e funzionale attrezzata per accogliere il cane in stanza. Piscina. Garage in struttura. Colazione super. Tutto sopra le aspettative!!

Possibilità di portare il proprio cagnolino a bordo piscina anche se di piccola taglia tenuto al guinzaglio ed in braccio per un piccolo lasso di tempo di condivisione familiare dal momento che i Pet sono accettati in Hotel. Mentre abbiamo trovato famiglie con bambini maleducati che facevano tuffi e giochi in acqua disturbando l’armonia e quiete di un angolo relax molto bello. Regola comunque giusta e capibile nella gestione quotidiana dell’utenza ma migliorabile.

Het zwembad beviel het meest. Je moet hiervoor wel een trap op maar je hebt prachtig uitzicht en verschillende hoeken/plaatsen waar je kunt relaxen. Ook zijn er extra activiteiten (groot schaakbord, tafelvoetbal, ed). Bij de bar (onderaan de trap) kun je drankjes krijgen. Handdoeken liggen klaar. Ik zou hiervoor alweer teruggaan. De Honesty bar is makkelijk in gebruik - altijd open; opschrijven wat je hebt gebruikt. Vanuit het hotel loop je via de winkelstraat het centrum in. Er is een parkeergarage waar je kunt opladen. In de garage is een autolift om op de andere verdieping te komen.

We hadden de Belle Époque Tweepersoonskamer met Hemelbed. Het bed is wat laag en de matras aan de harde kant. De kamer straalt wel een enorme sfeer uit.

La situation de l'hôtel en face du lac et plein cœur du centre ville. Le parking privé intérieur. La gentillesse,l l'écoute et les conseils du personnel de réception et de celui de la piscine. La piscine extérieure si appréciable en cette saison, dotée de serviettes et de transats sans jamais eu à se battre pour pouvoir s'installer. Le café et le thé à discrétion et gratuits, disponible à l'espace bar. Les chambres climatisées, confortables et avec toutes deux, un balcon et une vue partielle sur le lac. Le petit-déjeuner copieux et varié avec notamment des plateaux de fruits frais de saison decoupés.

Tout nous a plu mais la chambre avec lits simples occupée par nos enfants avait une salle de bain qui aurait besoin d'être modernisée et rafraîchie.

We loved our stay at this hotel. The location was perfect, the room was suitable for our family and the staff was absolutely wonderful. The pool and patio were the perfect place for our family to hang out and cool off, especially during the recent heatwave. I would definitely recommend staying at this hotel for any visits to Lugano. Prachtig hotel, mooie locatie, verbluffend uitzicht op het meer. Een uitstekend glutenvrij ontbijt met zelfs glutenvrije pannenkoeken. Ik had het hier heerlijk!

We LOVED our stay at this hotel- wish it was longer! Wonderful staff, great location and lovely rooms. We really enjoyed the beautiful pool area. Very special hotel.

Hands down the best hotel I have ever stayed at. We had the Belle Epoque double room and it was just astounding. Full of history and whimsy. Amazing partial view of the lake. I was speechless when I entered the room. It was all topped off by getting proposed to the night I was there!

Perfect location and parking. Rooms are renovated but with old decor and furniture. Not my style. Smells also strange. Beds are comfortable. You can hear everything in your room but quiet hours are from midnight till 07:30 am. The whole interior of the hotel is old and not up to date. Like the money stopt in renovating at the furniture. It’s not antique but just old. Hotel is not too bad but not for us.

We are so glad we chose the Hotel International Au Lac for our two day stay in Lugano! The hotel boasts an old Italian charm in their style and deco. The hallways have beautiful paintings, the sitting room has pictures of people ( famous ones) who have stayed there….the furniture compliments their style perfectly, The staff is wonderful! The breakfast buffet is delicious and plentiful. There is a swimming pool in their garden/ courtyard that my grandson loved to use. The front desk staff gave us bus passes that we used frequently as we took the bus to Lido swimming pool not too far from the hotel. It was lovely to walk along the lake promenade in the evenings and we also visited the lovely park near by. Lots of restaurants near the hotel. —- Thank you so very much for your hospitality! We wish to come back some day!

In der Suite ist es Abends ziemlich laut. Da auf der Terrasse Menschen sich aufhalten und Schachspielen. Es wäre sinnvoll die Spielgeräte abends wegzuräumen.

The hotel was amazing! The location was perfect, right in the heart of everything. We had a room with a balcony overlooking the water. The room was beautiful and very large. Bed was comfortable and a nice bathroom. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Breakfast was included and one of the best hotel breakfasts I've seen. The grounds were amazing! Wonderful pool and everything was very clean. Highly recommend this hotel!

The hotel is very elegant and perfectly situated for visiting Lugano. The breakfast was quite good. The staff gave us complimentary tickets for the return funicular to the train station.

We stayed one night traveling from Lucerne to Milano. It is an older hotel with nice updates and breakfast in a good location. We reserved our room with lake view months ago for an overnight stay while traveling. The agreement was not to pay in advance. I had not noticed the email requesting to pay in advance before arriving so they cancelled or reservation. I emailed that i did not notice the request and could we have the room. On arrival they gave us a downgraded room and we paid 20 swiss more for late checkout at 2:00 as my wife and I both acknowledged. At 1:30 checkout day they told us late checkout is always 1:00 or pay 30 more. We were packed so we left right away. They did not charge more. We like to support independent hotels but this is not a professional operation.

Stunning hotel right on the lake in Lugano. Easy access to transportation, shopping and dining. The room was beautiful. The staff were friendly and helpful and the included breakfast buffet was delicious. I highly recommend staying here.

This is a fabulous historical hotel that is very well maintained and has been upgraded without losing its authenticity. First impressions with the front desk, staff are wonderful, they are helpful, professional, and thoughtful. The daily breakfast has a bountiful selection and the freshest . The breakfast service staff are courteous, professional, and our lovely to chat with. Coming to this hotel it’s gonna be events. I look forward to each . The owners are to be congratulated on the wonderful job. They have done with the upgrading, a hotel has lost none of its authenticity. It harkens back to a more gracious era. I could never stay anywhere else in Lugano!

One suggestion for improvement would be to have a concierge or staff member available to assist guests with their luggage, as there are stairs at the entrance. I think this would be a wonderful addition and would make the arrival experience much more convenient.

L’emplacement est idéal pour rejoindre la ville à pieds avec le parking en dessous de l’hôtel. Et la piscine était très agréable car ils faisait chaud lors de notre séjour.

La chambre avait un style très ancien et une odeur peu agréable (vieux). Le lit n’est pas adapté pour une personne de plus de 180cm.

A beautiful Hotel with old world charm. Every detail has been thought of to make for a luxurious and comfortable stay. As a solo traveler, I took advantage of the single rooms which are more reasonably priced and hope to come back again. Next time I in the area. Lugano is a gorgeous town.

This hotel is the perfect blend of historic charm and modern amenities. The rooms are quiet and comfortable with luxury bedding and pillows. Having AC was a relief as we stayed during an unexpected heat wave in Lugano. The swimming pool was also a lovely treat after our busy sight seeing days. Finally, the breakfast buffet was wonderful, with fresh fruits, pastries, eggs, meats and more. Thank you for making our visit to Lugano an unforgettable and wonderful experience!

Great location, lovely hotel. We enjoyed the area and the pool. We stayed in the historical room 221. Very different than other rooms. Redone for the period. Creaky floors and older furniture and decor which made the stay quite special. It’s not for everyone, except if you are a history buff like me. If you aren’t, ask fut one of the modernized rooms.

This hotel is deserving of all the positive reviews. The location is perfect for accessing the city, transportation, restaurants and comes with an gorgeous view. Rooms are well-appointed, there is no need for a spacious lobby when you have access to the well-stocked honor bar on the 2nd floor ( with reasonably priced chilled water!). The grounds at the rear offer not only a pool, a garden area, games and plenty of seating. The breakfast buffet had everything you could want. We loved our stay and would choose this hotel again.

Freundlicher Empfang durch den Nachtportier. Sehr reichhaltiges Frühstücksbuffet und aufmerksame Bedienung. War nur eine Nacht hier, aber ich werde das Hotel sehr gerne weiterempfehlen.
