Check in is at the sister hotel down the road. We were asked what time we would like breakfast and were offered 3 slots 7-8,8-9 or 9-10. It was not made clear that if we went for the 8-9 slot we were expected to have finished breakfast by 9 am. We arrived at 8.50 and the rather rude member staff told us we were too late for the full breakfast so we could only have a quick tea and croissant. If it had been made clearer that our table had to be given up at the end of the slot that would have helped. I understand that there needs to be a staggered breakfast but I did rather feel that I had been told off!! Not good!

Reviewed Aug 26, 2026Nice, quiet and comfortable. Quite close to the main railway station and a reasonable distance to the main attractions. Friendly staff and good breakfast (albeit it’s at a different hotel - Hotel Domspritz, a short walk along the street).
Initially I didn’t understand why I could not get into hotel. This is because the main hotel is just along the street where check in is done (and breakfast is served). This is posted in the check-in information but perhaps could be better highlighted. An email is sent with the door codes. It’s also quite dark outside the room so you may need a door light to see the PIN pad.

We were able to leave our luggage there as well, which is so convenient when arriving and eager to go back out to eat or enjoy Köln a bit before check-in at 15:00. Breakfast was extra special with unique options and the availability to order fresh eggs and ham. Lovely. Location from and to the Rhein /Dom/ City are a stride away. Be sure that when leaving the train station to exit the station in the direction of the backside of the main station. This is where the latter train platforms are, for example, 11 and 12. This is the closest exit to the hotel.
