The Lakeside Hotel & Leisure Centre

A lovely spot overlooking the river. Our room was spacious with a gorgeous bathtub and a very comfortable bed. We walked into town and had a very good dinner at the hotel. The customer service at the front desk was excellent. We would gladly return!

The exceptional training of your staff made them stand out as very helpful, anticipating customer needs. I saw it demonstrated with many of the customers during just one night’s stay. The full breakfast and Leisure center facilities made this a memorable stay. We wished we had more time to enjoy your hospitality.

This was a last minute booking when travelling Ireland & what a gem we found. Beautiful setting on the river, friendly staff, great food & a wonderful room - highly recommend!

Beautiful room breakfast was a little disappointing on our second mirning ran out of fruit and soda bread.

Lovely meals and staff. The deluxe room with terrace was worth it for the view of the river and the privacy.

The lakeside rooms are stunning, very luxurious and very clean. Very short walk from the hotel. All staff were very helpful and welcoming. Breakfast was very good. You can walk to the two small towns for a coffee or food. Did see much else. Nice small marina (Killaloe) around the corner too.

We stayed at The Lakeside Hotel & Leisure Centre for one night after arriving in Ireland, and it was a perfect start to our trip. The staff were warm and welcoming, and the property itself is beautiful. It's set on lovely, quiet grounds with a fantastic view of the River Shannon from our room. The bed was very comfortable, and we appreciated the peace and quiet after a long travel day. The nearby town is charming and just a short walk away, which made for a nice evening stroll. The hotel was quite busy due to the bank holiday, but it still felt relaxed and well managed overall. Dinner was enjoyable, though our table could have been a bit tidier, with a few crumbs on top and bits underneath. That said, breakfast the next morning made up for it. The manager went out of his way to accommodate us even though we arrived late. He was a real standout — friendly, efficient, and helpful. One small note: the Guinness pouring could use a little fine tuning. Only one of the three we ordered was poured properly, but it didn’t take away from the overall experience. We would happily stay again and recommend The Lakeside Hotel to anyone looking for a scenic, restful stop in a lovely part of Ireland.

Staff were great The shower was useless a water drip really, the noise of the extractor fan was roaring until I called reception about it at sometime after 10pm only then it was turned off. But the food was good value for money.

This was a nice hotel right on the river in Ballina. It was within walking distance to pubs and shops.

The rooms at the back of the hotel suffer from Fan noise from the kitchens until around 10pm I was right above it and could also smell food being cooked which wasn’t pleasant. The water pressure isn’t good on the shower. Service in the bar and restaurant is great! And the food and views are lovely.

Beautiful older hotel. Excellent staff. The restaurant has great food and a relaxing atmosphere overlooking the river. Walls are pretty thin as you can hear conversations in the halls and adjacent rooms.

The hotel was very clean. We had a large room and bath. Beautiful location.

Amazing stay at The Lakeside, kind receptionist upgraded us to to a beautiful Waterfront room due to anniversary. Friendly and professional staff , lovely breakfast and the whole feel of the hotel was relaxed and inviting , would highly recommend !

Lovely older hotel with lots of charm. We booked our room with breakfast which was very nice. The only downside was the pillows needed switching out, they were flat and hard. Otherwise everything was lovely. We had the king bed suite overlooking the water.

Our three-night stay was truly rewarding ...with a well appointed and spacious room ( 101 ) , a warm and efficient service from all members of the team and the food was so good ( Including breakfast ) that we had our three dinners at the hotel with the extraa benefit of being taken care by Joey who is really the perfect host and the best possible ambassador for the Lakeside Hotel. Quality / Price ratio really good....We'll defnitely be back.

Waterfront room with a stunning view of the river. Staff was extremely friendly and helpful and restaurant was very allergy friendly. Our stay was beyond expectations!

Unfortunately only a very short visit to the area on business, but nevertheless the hotel and staff ticked all the right boxes, with a good breakfast in the morning to send you on your way.

Nice comfortable and clean hotel with some wonderful views. Quiet town, but a few bars and restaurants nearby. Hotel bar a little small, if busy, make sure you book a table for food/drink, as some guests were turned away.

Difficult to sleep at night because the room was not dark (lots of light came in around the edges of the blinds, and there were no curtains). There was also a strong smell of cooked food all the time (I think the kitchen ventilation must have been very nearby). Bathroom was very small for the size of the room and water leaked all over the floor when using the shower screen.

lovely warm friendly welcome at the reception and this was the same all the way through. lots of hand sanitizers and wiping down credit card machine after use etc. swimming pool was fabulous. every place was spotless. room service was fantastic food was delicious. within walking distance to shops, church, bank, walks etc. man in tourist office very helpful. cruise was excellent.

Great location great staff great food

Lakeside Hotel has an old and new part to the building. The old part has rooms with no soundproofing from the noisy fans outside that run loudly throughout the night. Do not stay in this part of the hotel. The rooms in the waterfront part are beautiful and luxurious with a great view of the lake.

This hotel is fully Covid compliant without affecting the running of the hotel. The staff were fantastic and everywhere was spotless.Riverside rooms were spacious, beds very comfortable and pillows top class. Well done.

Great place to stay, although a bit tired in terms of decor. Breakfast was good although had to ask to change cutlery as mine was a bit grubby although this is a minor issue. Comfortable stay and friendly staff.

Booked this in Ballina/Killaloe last minute to find this reasonably priced resort hotel well appointed, quiet and clean. Walk to pubs for tasty local fare, traditional music, shops in beautiful lakeside setting. Wonderful breakfast options—would definitely stay here again.

Beautiful setting, quiet, staff so so friendly. At check in we were met by the lovely Rachel. We travel all over Ireland for business, and we have to say that there is a lot of people who could learn a lot from Rachel. She was so welcoming, lovely smile, an asset to the hotel. Room very spacious with a beautiful view of the river, large window making it lovely and bright. This is a hidden gem of a hotel, would highly recommend.

The experience was good but the service for food was slow enough as it was not too busy. The room was good and functional but unfortunately there was no hot water due to a plumbing issue . The swimming pool, etc was good and a nice treat .Our request for heating in the room at about 9.30 / 10 pm was eventually granted

Great location, lovely room but cold. No central heating even though we mentioned it that evening it was still not turned on. Following morning no hot water for a shower!! Very disappointing

Good location with nice views to the Loch. Restaurant food was good for the cost. Gym was well kitted out for a hotel, pool looks good but didn't try it.

It was great. We were there for a wedding so didn't get to see the area or use the services but the staff were great. Only thing I have to say it the hotel was quite warm, alot of people found it quite uncomfortable to sleep.

We didn't have the best experience at The Lakeside. It's in a very picturesque town so I recommend its location, but I would not recommend this hotel. There was a wedding taking place the night we were there, that we didn't realize. We decided to eat in the hotel lounge, where we were all but ignored. Our waiter disappeared after taking our order and bringing our drinks and never reappeared. We weren't the only ones having problems --- I watched one lady have to go get her own menu from the bar, and another man got up and got water for himself. When my husband paid, there was another couple complaining about the service to the manager. Our room was in a corner facing the bar. I knew it was probably going to be loud, but what I didn't expect was the teenagers yelling obscenities in the parking lot at 3am. No one seemed to do anything about it. the hotel was loud all night long. When we went down for breakfast at 8:30am there was no one around. With another couple we went in search of breakfast and was told that hot menu items would not be placed on the buffet until later when more people came down.. One more time both us and the other couple were ignored. Service was a real issue throughout our stay.

Lovely location, right on the Shannon. Easy stroll into Killaloe. Friendly staff. Offers full leisure facility, with indoor pool. The rooms need updating/modernizing.
