Recently enjoyed a 4-night stay in Room 651 at the Newstead and thoroughly enjoyed our vacation! At check-in, we were warmly greeted by the front staff. As our room was not yet available, we enjoyed a wonderful lunch in the Aurora restaurant. Later, a stunning sunset. Our room was on the 5th floor overlooking the water and Hamilton. A joy to sit on the balcony each morning to enjoy a cup of coffee. The Newstead offers complimentary shuttle service to Coco Reef, where we swam at Elbow Beach, then enjoyed lunch overlooking the ocean. Later, we took the shuttle over to Blu for a wonderful sunset dinner. The infinity pool offered leisurely views across the water towards Hamilton. Enjoyed the best Bermuda fish sandwich at the pool bar! Our room was well appointed with comfortable beds. This was our sixth trip to Bermuda, and first stay at The Newstead - we chose it for the location, amenities (shuttle service!) and friendly staff. A tremendous value!
We stayed here for a special family trip and left disappointed, especially given the price and the hotel's 4-star rating. The biggest issue was the front desk, which was consistently unfriendly and unhelpful. What made it even more noticeable was that every other person we encountered in Bermuda—from restaurant staff to shopkeepers and taxi drivers—was incredibly warm and welcoming. The contrast with the service at the hotel was striking. The property itself also feels more worn than the photos suggest. Our room had several maintenance issues, including curtains coming off the rod and a sink handle separating from the counter. None of these were major problems individually, but together they didn't reflect the level of quality we expected. That said, the housekeeping staff were excellent. Our room was spotless every day, and they were the highlight of the experience. One tip for future guests: I would strongly recommend renting a car. We found taxis to be both expensive and unreliable, which made getting around more difficult than expected. Overall, I wouldn't say it's a terrible hotel, but I do think travelers should temper their expectations. Based on our experience, it did not feel like a true 4-star property or justify the premium price.
Newstead Belmont was wonderful. Our room overlooked Hamilton. A beautiful view. The location was convenient as we had stayed in Paget many times. We had a two bedroom suite with family. We wanted to have a common area for relaxing together rather than 2 single bedrooms. It worked out great. Shuttles were there to bring us to the beach and the Belmont for dinner. My only suggestion would be to add to the ferry schedule. The ferries were too far apart. I realize it was a winter schedule but it was very limited.
My hubby and I was blown over with the balcony room overlooking the sea with the city in the distance. Exceptional views both day and night! All the suite's amenities including the spa jacuzzi were top notch. We enjoyed the entire weekend with the car rental exploring the island's variety of things to do then retreating to our splendid room! Bermuda is one place that everyone blessed enough should visit. And stay at Newstead!!!!!
Lovely spot on the harbour, staff very helpful, restaurant very good.
Highly recommend Bermuda as a destination and the Newstead Belmont was a fantastic choice. The resort is clean, location amazing and the staff were very attentive. Thoroughly enjoyed the ferry shuttle in to Hamilton and beach access at Coco Reef also by a shuttle transport. The room was right at the water with great views, had a kitchenette which was convenient but there could have been more storage and counter space. The pool was lovely and not usually busy so it was relaxing. Pool bar opened while we were there as our trip was end March into April and things get going around Easter in Bermuda for the busy season.
The resort is in a great location off the harbor. The Aurora restaurant is fantasitc & has an amazing view of the ocean. The rooms do need some upgrades.
Newstead is a first-class property. This is the third or fourth time we have stayed there. View overlooking Hamilton Harbor is to diie for beautiful, the staff are incredibly accomodating and helpful, everything is clean, and the food is first-rate.
This is my third trip staying at the Newstead and always delighted with the experience. We stay here during work stays and find the ferry ride across to Hamilton a highlight to the commute. The breakfast is good and the dinner menu is extensive with many great choices. This past trip we stayed in the Cottages which was a total surprise and a wonderful experience. We were directly on the water with corner open views that are spectacular. It is a great retreat. My only comment is the lack of electical sockets by the bedsides. Charging your phone overnight next to the bed was not an option which was disappointing.
Wow! BEST hotel accommodations EVER . The views were STUNNING, the service, rooms, restaurants were absolutely amazing! A MUST DO EXPERIENCE OF A LIFETIME!!
We have not stayed at the Belmont for 35yrs. I was surprised how beautiful and large the one bedroom units with full kitchen were. The whole staff from housekeeping to the front desk where exceptional. We had to spend an extra 3 days because of the hurricane that hit the Island.( What a burden) LOL.The Belmont Golf course had a free shuttle from the hotel. Darren Swan worked the desk at the Pro-Shop was awesome. His Brother Kim Swan is a Bermuda golf legend who also teaches.
The only problem we had was listening to constant water noise during the night.
Love the compact layout making everything quick and easy to get to. Spa massage was great, loved the infinity pool and the view of the harbour. Aurora restaurant was consistently solid. Room with kitchenette was very spacious and comfortable. Shuttle to Hamilton and the beach were very convenient. Loved our stay and would come again.
Had a great time there
Great staff in all areas.
View is amazing room very spacious
Very pleasant stay. Staff were great and helpful. Food at Aurora was delicious. The location was perfect, very close to almost everything. Would stay again.
Excellent property with stunning views! Provided transportation makes this location one of the best on the island. I will definitely come back!!!
The best thing about this hotel is definitely the location. The easy access to Hamilton via the hotels ferry gives it the edge. The pool area was nice and quiet with a beautiful view of Hamilton. The ferry was on time and the captain was lovely and personable. I do wish they'd run the ferry back and forth for a few hours in the morning and evenings rather than just once every hour. I don't see why they would just do one trip across and back and then have it sit there for a full hour with a captain on board. We stayed in a one bedroom suite which was very spacious and enjoyed the full kitchen. Try to ask for a room on the second or third floor as the main floor (on the same level as the lobby) has a wall instead of balcony bars and it's impossible to see the view if you sit down. They need bar height out outdoor furniture for these rooms. The biggest disappointment was the beach shuttle. It was often late when departing for the beach and one morning the lady at the front desk couldn't find the driver so we sat there for 20 minutes until he finally showed up. They advertise it as available every hour between 8 and 6pm on their website but in reality they only offer it every other hour. This means the pickup at 4pm from coco reef is often very crowded. Several days the shuttle driver also never showed up. Once we took a taxi and the other time we stood there for 35 minutes until it finally arrived. If you stay here, just factor in the 10-15$ taxi far to get to and from the beach at your convenience.
All great. Staff is wonderful !!!
Beautiful, well kept property. The ferry shuttle service and the van shuttle service were both excellent and so convenient to have just steps away from our suite. Easy walk to the grocery store using the railway trail. Absolutely stunning pool!!! We will be back again in the near future!
Our third stay at this lovely hotel with beautiful grounds. We have looked at several other hotels, Air B&Bs etc but this can't be beaten for location and ease of exploring the whole island without hiring your own transport. Hotel free ferry shuttle to Hamilton is an excellent service, with Captain Matthew very helpful and knowledgeable. (Although would love it to run in the afternoon also). The free shuttle van to Coco Reef beach resort and Divots/Blu restaurants at the golf course is a great service with staff always very willing to transport visitors. These services are such a great bonus when choosing somewhere to stay. The infinity pool is wonderful for wallowing in after a hot day exploring! In the past there have been poor reviews about some front desk staff which we did partly agree with, however this year was completely different. All staff were very pleasant and helpful particularly Mae and Cherie. Our rooms have been small apartments with a kitchenette which gives us the option of doing a little bit of self-catering, the Market Place supermarket has some very interesting self-serve offerings. We would definitely recommend this hotel and will definitely be back!
Just cannot speak too highly of this hotel and services. Third time here and funnily enough third different type of room despite booking the same each year through the agent. However, all have been superb. What can you say about paradise except to congratulate and thank the management and staff for such a wonderful stay. In previous years the staff on reception have been less than helpful but what a joy it was to meet Mae and also Kara? The grounds are immaculate and full of flowers in July and the guys always ready to have a chat.
Lovely staff and property! The hotel provides a shuttle to the beach + restaurants and a water taxi to Hamilton making moving around easy. Our room was spacious, quiet, and clean. Would absolutely stay here in the future!
Lovely relaxed hotel, not too big or small. Great pool and always enough loungers. Surprisingly the hotel was not too busy. The room was spacious with a small fridge and a wonderful view over the harbour. The complimentary hotel ferry to Hamilton and back is really useful, as is the hotel shuttle minibus to Coco Reef beach where there are sun loungers and umbrellas. We also ate a snack lunch there which was tasty. From Hamilton, we travelled on ferries to Docklands and St George's, and the local bus to Crystal Caves, which were all different and worth visiting. The restaurant food is pricy, as is all food and drinks in Bermuda. The room service was helpful for breakfast and the pool bar serves delicious light lunches all day. The pool was open from sunrise to sunset and lovely to dip into in the evening as well as the day. The staff were all friendly, especially Matthew on the ferry and Patrice in the pool bar. We will definitely return!
Beautiful location, generous rooms, great golf course
We absolutely loved our stay at the Newstead Belmont. The property was gorgeous, the staff were incredibly kind and the free shuttle and ferry service made this an outstanding property. Would definitely stay here again and highly recommend.
We loved the well-kept spacious suite with waterfront views of the harbour. The complementary water shuttle service to Hamilton, and the private shuttle to the beach and to the Belmont’s Blu restaurant were appreciated. Food and service at the Aurora restaurant and patio were excellent.
Pool, restaurant quality, shuttle and ferry availability
One of our rooms did not cool adequately
The wood railings are not sturdy. Rooms are exceptionally thought out. The Aurora restaurant should have more choices in food and the staff was not very welcoming in the restaurant. Everyone else on the premises was very accommodating and friendly. The spa did an excellent job with the pedicure. Pool area was 99% clean and well maintained.
Great clean hotel and very convenient.
This hotel is just amazing. Loved the pool, the restaurant, the complementary ferry and shuttle to Coco Reef. Front desk staff very friendly and helpful. Great servers and pool staff. Our only issue was that we took the shuttle to Coco Reef late afternoon with a return time we were told of 4:10. The shuttle driver came at 4 and was annoyed and rude that we weren’t there…even though we told him that we were advised the return trip was 4:10!! Not a huge deal but so uncharacteristic of this wonderful hotel.
Excellent staff and service. Beautiful apartment. We enjoyed our stay.
The hotel is in a beautiful spot on Harbour Road and our room had a balcony where we sat and enjoyed looking out at the harbour. The infinity pool was a treat to swim in and I liked being able to lean over the edge of the pool and have the same clear view across to Hamilton. Indra, who works in the kitchen at Aurora, was particularly friendly and made sure that our meals were delicious. Having access to the water shuttle was helpful to get back and forth to Hamilton, and the hotel's bus made it handy to get to the beach and to the golf course.
We had an amazing stay at Newstead. We staying in a one bedroom and loved the extra space and the kitchen. We had basic groceries delivered so we could enjoy coffee & easy breakfast on our patio. The pool area was gorgeous, and the shuttle to Hamilton was very helpful. Newstead shuttles guests to nearby beaches & sister restaurants, which saved a ton on cab fare. Bermuda is expensive so every little bit helps! We would absolutely stay here again!
The quietness, I was able to relax.
The staff were very welcoming, kind and always helpful! The shuttles to the beach, golf course and water shuttle are fabulous! Special thank you to Captain Matthew on the water taxi!!!
We loved the location, the architecture, the facilities, the Shuttle to Belmont and the Ferry Shuttle to Hamilton, the staff, the restaurant. We live in the UK but lived in Bermuda for 40+ years, this will be our "go-too" place to stay going forward!
Our room felt a little tired and the bedding was a bit uncomfortable - but these are tiny things in comparison with what was good about our Newstead stay!
Pool was great and staff were friendly and helpful. No bookings at the spa, limited drinks at pool bar and the tennis courts were closed for renovations which was not mentioned until we checked it.
Amazing views especially from the gorgeous infinity pool. Spacious room, modern and clean, with a great restaurant onsite. Close to town and the south shore beaches. Ferry stop out front, well worth taking to view the shoreline from a different perspective (or to go into town).
Beautiful hotel with fantastic customer service. Will definitely stay here again in the future.
The location across the harbor from Hamilton is superb. The infinity pool and hot tub had just been renovated and were gorgeous. But our room down in one of the older buildings near the water was in desperate need of work. The bathroom faucet had completely failed and it took two attempts over two days to get someone to look at it...when they came it fell apart on them. Bathroom was grubby, moldy and in need of a refresh. Tiles were loose, flooring in front of patio damaged. Bed was good and sheets clean. Staff at reception were not very receptive...both to us saying there was a problem with the bathroom and when we asked for a late checkout (which the paperwork said we could get).
We had a lovely time. The whole team was very friendly and helpful. The shuttle to the golf course and the ferry are super useful. The rooms are nice and spacious with good views across the sound. Some of the decor and condition is a little bit old/worn. But this didn’t affect our enjoyment. The tennis courts and the pool were closed for renovations, so we weren’t able to use them
The Newstead was perfect for our family of four. We stayes in a two bedroom condo with beautiful water views. The staff were very friendly and super helpful with recommendations and they happily accomodated our requests. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would highly recommend the property. We took advantage of the golf course and spa. The only downside was that the pool was under construction and not usable, but we had access to a newrby property with a pool and beach access.
The staff were amazing and knowledgeable! Great recommendations for excursions and helped greatly with all logistics.
Great staff, good price, large room with sea view, staff work hard to satisfy clients, the made works well, Good location. I recommand!
Staff was pleasant
Housekeeping was excellent and we enjoyed the complimentary launch to Hamilton several times a day. A few things in our king 1 BDRM needed attention: dresser drawers wouldn't stay closed, loose handle on refrigerator, kitchen very dark, poor quality cooking pots.
The property and the staff are lovely !!!! Unfortunately we were there while pool renovations were being done and the jackhammer all day long was a bit much , however we were offered a small refund . They have an awesome water ferry on the property but on a winter limited schedule . We made the best of the transportation and would recommend this beautiful resort to anyone who asked !
We really enjoyed our stay here, everything was top tier. We stayed in a 1bed 1-1/2 bath Suite. It was lovely! Had to take a point off because there were ants present in the bathroom and we had to take extra care to mitigate them. We did appreciate that there was ant spray in the unit to use.
We enjoyed our stay. The service was good and friendly. Minor issues encountered.
Excellent stay near Hamilton
Property was comfortable, nice, and clean. Rooms were spacious. Staff were very curteous and helpful. Access is somewhat limited. Shuttle boat to Hamilton was under maintenance which we did not know. Getting around was expensive and took alot of planning. Our 6:30 am taxi to the airport did not show. Thankfully the security person was able to call another taxi and we got to the airport by a margin. A bit stressful. All in all a good stay.
The view cannot be beat. Almost all of the staff was super friendly and helpful. Dining at the resort was limited and very expensive. There was transportation to other restaurants owned by the property but also limited and expensive. The area is very desolate so it was necessary to use public transportation. Our room was very comfortable, but we did have to spray for ants in the bathroom. All in all, a great stay but not sure we would stay again.
Room is clean and enjoyed the pool / view. But the reception is rude and service is average to poor. Transportation is limited. Suggest to choose the beach side hotels
Friendly helpful people, excellent food, convenient ferry to Hamilton, and easy transfers to Belmont golf course and other restaurants. Comfortable room with good beds, but could not alter the temperature of the shower. Not sure why the $20 daily Resort fee could not be included in the room charge.
We loved it there! The views of the harbor are gorgeous and they offer water shuttles back and forth from the hotel to Front Street. Great dining options too. It was so lovely! We will definitely be back!
We had beautiful accommodations right on the bay.
What a beautiful place. Super views, awesome staff ! Throughly recommend a stay here
The Newstead Hotel is in a great location across Hamilton Harbour from Front Street. The hotel has comfy beds, excellent AC and nice amenities. The pool overlooks the harbour and is in excellent condition. We have returned many times since our first visit. Staff are friendly and helpful. The water taxi is a great way to get across to Hamilton for dinner and Captain Matt is friendly, kind and entertaining.
I loved the complimentary Shuttle! And the Pool was beautiful!
There was actually one Cockroach in our room -- which I was able to kill on Friday night. I was super grossed out :-(
Shuttle service
What is with this place! I read time and again about guest experiences where they report about some front desk staff that range from beyond nice to downright indifferent, and/or surely. During my stay, my personal experience mirrored all of the forgoing, and more. I had hoped the negative reviews were those of just a few disgruntled guests. Obviously not since the complaints continue to be documented. And if I read once more a reply from management apologizing and promising to do better, I will have a meltdown. The facility itself is a gem. The boat operator is a star. The cleaning staff are like Molly Maid on steroids. If I were one of the time-share owners at Newstead, I would be royally annoyed. So, clearly management is aware of the problems in connection with the front desk , and yet they choose to do nothing. Well, here is the deal. We are returning soon, and if things have not changed, goodbye Newstead. I will not pay the prices they charge only to be once again treated like a nursing home resident.
We really enjoyed our time at the Newstead. Lovely big room with a great view over to Hamilton. Hotel was not too busy and we really liked the infinity pool. Very useful ferry over to Hamilton in the morning and evening: crewed by Matthew who was great fun and very knowledgeable about all things Bermuda. We found the hotel had a nice, chilled out feel to it and the staff were all very friendly and helpful. Housekeeping was excellent. We also really appreciated the shuttle bus over to Elbow Beach. We’d love to come back next year.
Location and amenities were fabulous
Nothing
Resort is on the waterfront, directly across from downtown Hamilton. The resort has a water shuttle that take you across to Hamilton in 5 minutes. It runs in the morning and late afternoon. There was also a shuttle to a beach and golf course. That was very nice. The Newstead has a partnership with Cocoa Reef Resort that provides access to their pool and beach facilities. That was great. The Newstead staff were very friendly and helpful. Our room was large enough for 3-4 adults (2 queen beds) with a nice balcony on the waterfront.
Our room was nice but slightly weathered, as was most of the resort. Plenty of space for 3-4 adults. The restaurant on property was hit or miss. We had some good meals at Aurora and some that were not very good. Blu, the other restaurant that is affiliated with the resort, is at the golf course. Our dinner for three, including two bottles of Chardonnay, was way overpriced and we were not impressed with the food.
The service was great, There should be another restaurant on the premises with casual coffee shop vibe and reasonable prices. The view and the Hamilton ferry were our favorite parts of the experience.
The two restaurants at hotel, Blu and Aurora were the best two meals we had on our two week trip. Absolutely delicious and high quality. The view of the harbor from the horizon pool was gorgeous. We stayed in two types of rooms. The waterfront deluxe studio was spacious, clean and had great views. The one bedroom suite was huge with dining room, nice balcony and two bathrooms. Both rooms had all kitchen amenities as well. We enjoyed walking around the grounds with the lovely tropical flowers, palm trees and looking out at the water. When we would open the balcony door in the morning it smelled like jasmine and flowers. The staff were friendly, room service quick and tasty, and the vibe relaxing. We would stay here again.
We have stayed at this property in the past. It was equally as pleasurable. Appreciate the access to electric vehicle hook up. Staff is very helpful.
I spent a week here with my husband and 2 kids, my sister and her husband and 2 kids and my Mother. We had a wonderful week! Bermuda is a beautiful island full of kind people. We will definately be back! Here is the good and bad about Newstead. Good -Location! Right across the harbor from Hamilton. Hotel offers water taxi to and from Hamilton several times a day. They also run a van shuttle to Coco Reef resort. They have a small but beautiful beach with chairs and you can walk to elbow beach from here as well. -Room! We had a 2 bedroom suite. Balcony overlooks the Harbor. Beds, furniture and decor are not fancy but there was plenty of room for all of us and it is comfortable. Having the small kitchen was great so that we didn't have to eat out for every meal. We had groceries delivered. -Housekeeping/Cleanliness! Everything is spotless. -Pool! The infinity pool is gorgeous. -Restaurant and pool bar! Great food and drinks. Even stuff the kids would eat. Bad -The ladies at the front desk are not helpful at all. When we checked in two women were on their cell phones. I stood there for an awkward 10 minutes waiting for them to finish and for one of them to ask if I needed help. I had some resort credit vouchers from the rewards program The Guest Book. I presented them upon check in and neither knew what to do with them or how I was to use them. Even by the end of our stay I had drink vouchers that went unused because no one there could tell me how to properly redeem them. During our stay they were not interested in answering questions about the best way to get to certain parts of the island and often just responded that they didn't know. The day before we checked out I asked for them to schedule 2 taxis to take our group to the airport. They said they would and then didn't do it. We were late getting to the airport. Check out is 11 am. We planned to leave for the airport at noon. The morning of our departure I asked if we could stay in the room until then and I was told we could. Then at 11:30 the front desk called to say that check out was at 11:00. I told her that the other woman at the desk said we could stay until 12 and she told me that she didn't remember telling me that. She said that she had not talked to me that day implying that I was lying. It was just rude. -Rooms need some fixes/updating. No hot water in one of the showers. Oven is not really an oven - more of a microwave/convection oven that didn't work very well. Flooring uneven in spots. Paint needed retouching in spots. Overall this place is great and I probably would not hesitate to stay here again. If it weren't for the behavior of the women at the front desk I would have given a 5 star review. Other members of the staff - doorman, servers, housekeeping, water taxi and shuttle operators - were all wonderfully kind and went above and beyond to be helpful.
I have not been to Bermuda in many years. This resort was a lovely “ surprise” Our suite was feet’s from the water front . I don’t recall if we were 408 or 410. Fabulous views of Hamilton , especially in the eve “ magical” The infinity edge pool and pool bar made our stay !!!! The shuttle service made life very easy . The staff were accommodating and friendly . Our suite has a nice size kitchen well equipped . A quieter atmosphere property . But a quick hop to Hamilton for great dinning etc Very happy with this property Will return .
Great
The view
Roaches in main part of room. Sprayed and still had them.
Views from the room. Lots of space in the room. Professional and courteous staff.
Bathroom shower on/off water handle was loose and fell off once. In the bedroom there was something like an electrical panel by the wood closet.
Overall nice property with location right across from Hamilton. Hotel has their own ferry, however that ferry has quite a limited schedule and not very convenient at most times (doesn`t run mid-day and stops running way too early in the evening, they`re also off on weekends and holidays). Public ferry stop/bus stop are not that far, but you`d have to walk on the road with no side walk and multiple curves, so you don`t really see what`s coming at you. Roads are super narrow and windy. We walked to the public ferry and bus several times anyway, but didn`t feel super comfortable due to above stated conditions. Hotel has heated pool and hot tab. Jets in the hot tab/control for the jets were broken throughout our stay (only front desk could turn them on), then heating in both pool and hot tab broke on the last 2 days of our stay. There is a fancy restaurant on site - since there aren`t any other food options without transportation, we`ve eaten dinner there several times as well as breakfast. Food was good for the most part (we liked some dishes better than others). Hotel provides rides to their other properties where you can find access to the beach, golf courses and a couple more restaurants (also quite expensive). If I was to go to Bermuda again I`d probably stay in Hamilton or would pick something around St. George, but would definitely consider easier access to different food options and transportation.
Let me start from saying that it was quite expensive (as everything in Bermuda), even though it was off season. For the price we paid I`d expect much more or at least some basic breakfast included, special request to be on a higher floor accommodated and hot tub/heated pool actually working throughout the whole stay (was broken last 2 days of our stay, but hotel somewhat compensated us for this inconvenience). So you have to pay for breakfast (around $30 per person minimum - coffee and eggs) and no "cheap" options are available, because it`s a fancy restaurant where you have to go to eat your breakfast. We were placed on the first floor with limited view despite in advance request for higher floor with nicer view. I didn`t get an impression that hotel was full at any point of our stay, but they refused to move us to a room with better view stating that none are available. When I was looking for the hotel in Bermuda this one seemed to be on the least expensive side and looked extremely nice from the pictures and reviews, however it turned out that value is not quite there unfortunately. My main criteria for next Bermuda trip would be proximity to transportation and food options.
Awesome resort, staff was incredibly friendly, room was beautiful. Highly recommended for any Bermudian vacation, especially if you plan on spending time in Hamilton.
Another great stay at Newstead. Fab location, friendly staff, good facilities and perfect for a relaxing break together
The hotel and grounds were beautiful and immaculately kept. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The onsite restaurant was open, airy and bright with seating both inside and out. Food was special and delicious. Wait staff was very attentive and accommodating. We had a very special time there and hope to return one day.
Lovely room (suite).
breakfast service was slow and expensive, (no buffet option).
Staff and views are amazing! Spaciousness of suites cant be beat. Double balcony was an nice treat too. We love full kitchens and this one was perfect. Pools were gorgeous and warm, very well maintained.
Food wasnt as good as I expected and exhorbitantly priced. Tennis courts could have been in much better shape. New tennis court nets would be the easiest immediate fix needed.
The Newstead Belmont Resort & Spa property is beautiful and very picturesque. My husband & I shared a one-bedroom suite equipped with a full kitchen, microwave, stove top, dish washer, dining table and chairs, 2 baths and spa like main bathroom. It had a built-in refrigerator, and a stand-alone full-size refrigerator. Luckily the second refrigerator was in working condition. We had panoramic views of the water in both the living room & bedroom that was adjacent to Hamilton. The hotel also offered a free ferry into Hamilton that ran in the mornings, and again after 5pm. The spa offered massages, and I took advantage of the 50-minute Swedish massage. It was very enjoyable but very pricey. Their restaurant called the Aurora offered good food, but they restrict paying guests from utilizing the restaurant when special events were setup. We were not allowed to utilize the restaurant on two occasions, during our stay. That needs to change if they want to remain competitive. Paying guest should always have access to the on-site restaurant. The hotel also does not have a gift shop. It did have a snack closet, so you could get water, juice, and a few snacks. There is a fitness center, but with all the stairs in this resort, you probably won't need to use any of the fitness equipment. The front desk clerks were not very accommodating or eager to share details that would enhance your vacation. A few of the front desk clerks were nice, but a couple were not very friendly nor eager to please. One in particular advised us to take a bus to the Royal Navy Dockyard, when there was a ferry that operated daily for only $5 dollars, after taking their free ferry into Hamilton. The ferry to the Dockyard took only 20 minutes and trips were available all day every day. The hotel didn't offer tours of the island, but they recommend their special taxis for tours. Unfortunately, the hotel's choice was at a higher rate. We decided to engage a regular taxi to give us our tour of the island for $50 dollars an hour, while the hotel engaged taxis that charge $65 dollars an hour, both with a three-hour minimum. Our taxi gave us a great tour and we shared a meal with great conversation. Our main bathroom had a little mildew in the ceiling, and one morning I awoke to find a roach on the countertop. We killed and flushed it, and then advised the front desk to engage an exterminator. Someone was sent to spray the room immediately, so it was handled properly. The shower handle also came off in my husband's hands, while trying to start the shower. Luckily it went back into place without incident. The shower tub was so slick we both almost fell in the tub. We had to request a shower mat. We had to use a towel to get in and out of the tub, until they furnished a bathmat. The pool & jacuzzi were beautiful, but the jacuzzi jets were broken. We had to ask someone to turn on the jets every time we used the jacuzzi. There were also missing tiles in the jacuzzi, which caused me to bruise my arm. The bar staff was not interested in being accommodating or friendly. When we asked if someone could assist with turning on the jacuzzi jets she was very dismissive. We decided to just relax in the water since it was heated. The resort was built in 2008, and now is in need of some repairs. If they plan to continue to charge such expensive prices, they should start to take care of the repairs. We thought the island overall was beautiful, and the locals were very friendly. Our suggestion is to make friends with your taxi driver and try to arrange tours and ask for restaurant suggestions to enhance your dining. The food will be expensive, and the souvenirs will be costly, but the views of Bermuda won't disappoint.
The one bedroom cottage was very spacious and the views were fabulous

Very inflexible with check in/checkout
Very nice suite room. Gorgeous view with a nice infinity pool.
Location, room, view, staff, pool-jacuzzi, front desk, shuttle, ferry to Hamilton.
The beach at coco reef. Area was dirty torn and dirty lounges and a lot of debris. Also restaurant was not available at 11:45am We left immediately
The water taxi took us to Hamilton with no problem. The Captain was very friendly, made sure we had a direction in mind for our time in Hamilton. Also the shuttle to the beach was great! The beach was picture perfect. The hotel restaurant had the best food we had while in Bermuda, and all staff were friendly, kind and most helpful.
I have been coming to Newstead for three years and it has always been wonderful. This stay however, was not as wonderful. Our second day, the fire alarm went off in our room twice during the night, and we were unable to reach any staff member. Other than that, the staff was very nice and our room was great.
