Beautifully restored historic building with very comfortable rooms. The bathrooms were particularly nice (getting to soak in a tub after a long day on the Camino was amazing)
a very interesting old building to go and see but may as well just visit the bar and have a drink
My room was above reception and I could hear all the conversations of people checking in and out and coming in and out. It was very noisy. the price was really expensive for what it ws and breakfast was not even included . paid extra for breakfast and was ripped off one of the worst breakfasts i've ever had in a hotel. A bit of old cheese and hams. some citrus fruits and yoghurts . Hot food was order only. I ordered the scrambled eggs that came out tasting of dried old eggs that had been sitting out overnight - I had to send them back . .
Beautiful hotel! Spectacular views, full of history and beautiful carpets. The swimming pool area and patio were great places to watch the sunrise and sunset.
Nothing
Location and comfort
Old musty smells, overpriced
Location was great for pilgrims walking the Camino. Super nice staff. Great history there. Nice high end accommodation!
It was all great, no issues!
Everything was amazing. Great value for a very nice hotel if you want to splurge for a night on the Camino.
Nothing.
Very comfortable
All good
Gracias
The location is excellent for visiting Pontevedra. It is in the center of town and still far enough away to have a quiet night’s sleep. The property is stunning and well maintained. We slept perfectly.
Lovely hotel in a great location close to bars and eateries, classic hotel and very quiet at night - we enjoyed the breakfast
Walk in shower would be preferred
Room was comfortable and had AC but walls were paper thin and can hear creaky floors all night with people stomping around.
Took 45 min for three people to check us in. Not at all what you want after a tough hike 30k in the heat!!! Staff had TERRIBLE attitude as well. To the point of even being confrontational ! Made me sign loads of silly paperwork which this day and age is unheard of. It appears they’re running Windows 95 or something as they took AGES to check us in. Don’t waste your money here. We stayed in 1 stars that were much better and way cheaper. Felt very unwelcome here and would advise anyone walking the Camino to AVOID!!!
So fun to stay in this old historic building! The rooms were comfortable and full of character. We loved all the old-style furniture around the building; it felt like we were at a fancy house party in the past. The fridges are small and full of minibar drinks, so that made it hard to get our own breakfast food, but we managed. The views of the garden were lovely. Overall, we really enjoyed our stay here!
No admiten mascotas.
What a place! It was like a medieval castle. The unique atmosphere alone was amazing.
The staff stayed behind the front desk and collected payment. They were quite impersonal.
Old baronial residence with creaky floorboards. Spotlessly clean. 'Olde Worlde' class. Fabulous restaurant. Excellent evening meal and a great wine list.
Breakfast average. Hotel parking spaces now disallowed by the local council as the patrimonial area now pedestrianised. Reception check-in and out is a bit clunky. Bath is difficult to get out of due to the lack of hand hold.
Curiously melancholic check in where we were continually pressed to commit to exact times for breakfast for the next few days. Excellent location and an endless supply of cafes, restaurants etc. Helena is a brilliant masseuse whose number you will need because the floors are the squeakiest, noisiest I have ever experienced anywhere in the world. Put simply, it is impossible to sleep so if you want to sleep in Pontevedra this is not for you. They tried to charge us for bottles of water we brought into the building on check out, very naughty, they could have supplied water themselves. There was also a threatening sign displayed at breakfast effectively saying you would be charged if you were caught taking anything away from breakfast area, never seen that before. Proper nickel and dime operation.
We stayed here on our Camino pilgrimage. Our "room" was a suite! Best experience on our whole Camino trip. Conveniently located in the city. Clean, spacious, great service. Lovely garden area in the middle of the city.
Emplacement, personnel, restauration, todo es bien !!!!
I liked everything about this property. It’s a beautiful old building with lots of character, very well maintained and in an excellent location. Also very good value for money.
Nothing
Beautiful hotel the rooms were clean and quiet and spacious w AC and TV. The location was near great restaurants and right off the camino walk.
It's not easy to find by car because recently the local council has decided to make the old town centre car-free except for deliveries. This means the hotel has lost all the parking spaces it used to have. Therefore you can dump your luggage at the hotel and drive to a local and inexpensive municipal car park about a five minute walk away. It used to the home of the local baron in the 19th century and it has retained it's period character well. It has a somewhat sombre character and the large rooms are very traditional with period-styled furniture. The bathrooms are clean and well apportioned with bath, bidet and shower. A warning about the bath - you might find some difficulty getting out of the bath due to the lack of hand-hold, so if you are in doubt, stick to the shower. Artwork throughout amplifies the period nature of this hotel. The thing that most impressed me was the restaurant which I have to say serves an excellent evening meal. Breakfast is average. The reception can be a little bit 'clunky' and bureaucratic when it comes to check in and check out. and the wi-fi is a bit hit and miss depending where you are in the building. It gets a 4 in this review because of the excellent restaurant but otherwise, it would have been a 3.
The Parador de Pontevedra is a beautiful historic hotel conveniently located near the center of Pontevedra and directly along the Camino Portuguese, making it a convenient stop for pilgrims. The room was attractive, with beautiful wooden floors that added to the historic charm. However, the floors squeaked quite loudly when walked on. We also wished the room had a larger exterior window. The only window overlooked an interior courtyard, allowing very little natural light into the room. Compared with other hotels where we stayed along the Camino Portuguese, we felt this hotel was overpriced for what it offered, especially since breakfast was not included. We also found the staff to be less welcoming than at our other accommodations, and communication was difficult because they spoke little or no English. While the historic setting and location are appealing, we would likely choose a different hotel if we return to Pontevedra.
emplacement
Caro y viejo
Everything!
None really except the breakfast buffet was sparse in its offering unlike other places.
La limpieza
El personal, de recepción, muy antipáticos. Las instalaciones están muy anticuadas
Good location. Historic charm. Cold AC. Friendly staff. Feels fancy.
Bathrooms could use an update. Walk in shower would make a big difference but they were clean and large.
A Parador so you know what you are getting. Well equipped rooms, clean and fresh. First class service from everyone you interact with. Food was amazing as always. Breakfast was a little busy but the team did amazingly well. We would never normally stay in a hotel without a car park but we were lucky to find this on our "Camino"
It’s a beautiful historic venue.
Unfortunately, it was our worst Parador experience of our trip. No complimentary water or coffee was provided and there are not close stores or shops to purchase things. It was also VERY hot, although the thermometer read 19 degrees.
Prachtig oud hotel, ook van binnen indrukwekkend.
Douche was bescheiden straal, vloeren kraakten, licht gehorig
The location was great.
The staff from check in to breakfast to check out were all very rude/curt and unwelcoming. Thought this would be a treat and instead it’s an overpriced stay. Much more welcoming places in Pontevedra- felt like they really don’t want people doing the Camino staying there but everyone we saw were pilgrims.
Old City Charm
Lumpy pillows and bed
A localização é excelente.
Very clean! The location was great too! Such old world charm.
Its rich history, location, the bar and restaurant. The room was also fabulous.
We were on level 1. I could hear EVERYTHING from the room above. At 1.30am the person was stomping around the room and I could hear everything through the floorboards and couldn’t sleep.
Excellent location, beautiful setting.
Difficult to access with luggage.
Beautiful property and rooms right off the Camino route.
Understaffed cafe area and not very responsive. They seemed bothered when having to provide service.
Central location in the heart on Pontevedra. Simple instructions on where to park the car once you drop the baggage off.
The bar closed a little early. 10.30pm but lots of local places to go. Wasn’t given any recommendations on where to eat other than the hotels restaurant.
Lovely room in historic building.
No kettle in the room.
The room was spacious, characterful and I loved the big windows. It was wonderful staying in such a historical building.
They could have made more of the beautiful garden terrace that wasn't even open when we were there .Why aren't drinks served there?
Que es un casco antiguo y ubicación
Las habitaciones podrían modernizarse un poco
Grande chambre bien equipee
Stayed one night along the Camino. Perfectly nice place to stay but didn't feel very special or personal. Seemed a little expensive for the experience.
Beautiful property
A localização é excelente
Like all Paradores, everything is to the highest quality. Great position close to everything but very quiet. Beautiful garden dining area.
This is an exquisite property. An old home/palace, beautifully appointed and updated. Fabulous bathrooms, great bar and restaurant, lovely staff. The location is in the old medieval section with quick walk to shops and plazas. Right on the camino for next days journey. Great restaurants nearby and a local grocery with lovely fresh fruit, cheese and wines.
As an older property, there was little sound insulation- the restaurant was outside my window and I could hear my neighbors walking and rolling their bags in their room above me. After a long day on the camino, I slept well but if I had not been so tired that may have been an issue.
Super umiejscowienie hotelu i piękny odrestaurowany pałac
Beautiful property and had a standard room with balcony. Staff was very pleasant and helpful. Right on Camino and close to town stores and restaurants.
Loved everything
A lovely old building which has been restored/renovated very well. It was in the old city area which seemed appropriate. The staff were very friendly and welcoming.
Huge room and lovely garden terrace. Beautiful building and great location for the camino
No facilities to make tea and coffee. No breakfast earlier than 8 am. Same as every parador
Hotel with old world charm and beautiful furnishings throughout. Nice breakfast buffet.
Bathroom door sticks - a minor point.
Nice room in the heart of Pontevedra.
A lovely hotel in a great location :)
Late breakfast times
My room was beautiful and really comfortable - perfect bathtub! Lovely view across the roofs of Pontevedra and close to everything in the old town. Delightful check-in staff.
Ordering room service was a complicated and contradictory process — in the end I didn’t bother. Breakfast staff seemed overwhelmed.
Love the beautiful architecture.
Great location. Nice treat for pilgrims on Camino.
Good location in the old town. Close to many bars and restaurants. Breakfast is basic, fried eggs and bacon available as well as a buffet. Price was €20, expensive for what was provided.
No walk in shower - you have to stand in the bath tub. The place needs to be upgraded.
The location was perfect. We loved the interior. They helped us make a birthday celebration unforgettable.
Nothing
Good location Beautiful historic building.
Airconditioning didn’t work properly. It did not cool the room and the AC fan was noisy. Refrigerator did not work either. Drinks were warm and it failed to cool my water. No vanity items for women apart from shower cap. Restaurant was very disappointing. Food was not what you would expect from a Parador Hotel. Overpriced.
We keep sending clients to Parador de Pontevedra because apart from its quality, the service is brilliant. Thank you kind staff at Parador de Pontevedra
A bit grandiose and classic. Excellent location.
The room was dark. Not enough lightning in the room.
Super schönes altes Hotel, sehr schönes Zimmer. Lage Top, mitten in Pontevedra.
