Clean, comfortable, friendly & helpful staff - what more could you want!
Nothing.
the staff were pleasant
A heavy panel fell off under the sink in the bathroom onto my wifes foot. The window did not open properly, the shower controls did not work easily
Very nice bedroom, comfy bed
We should have asked for a quiet room, loads of noisy people on the street.
Property we’re flexible to move my booking, then restore it when a meeting was moved the moved back -Thankyou

Die Lage mitten in der Altstadt. Das große Zimmer mit den riesigen alten Kamin.
Rührei leider nicht von frischen Eiern gemacht.
A warm and welcoming hotel with plenty of historical charm. Very friendly staff, the food was excellent. We were lucky to have the suite, with the four poster bed, en-suite and separate lounge, very comfortable and beautifully decorated. Good to have a choice of areas to relax with its 2 bar areas, coffee shop and snug by the reception. The hotel had its own Car park which is situated at the back of the hotel and its very easy to find. It has plenty of car park spaces, which is very handy as the hotel is in the town center.
The hotel was in a very central location of the town which was great for shopping and sightseeing but it can get a bit noisy during the evening/night if your room is at the front of the hotel.
Room was very comfortable and clean. The only downfall was there was some noise from the live band on Friday but this finished at 2300 so unless you want an early night not much of a problem. Management informed us at the time of booking. Breakfast was very good with sufficient choice.
Comfort of the bed and size of the room.
Position of room
Perfect location, great breakfast staff were friendly enough apart from not taking my breakfast order for 20 minutes.
I think it’s a beautiful old building but it needs refurbishing, new curtains, cushions just felt very tired. It’s very dated and a funny smell.
The warm friendly atmosphere.
Your booking.com website set up as it was poorly worded. As a result we didn't book for the breakfast which I normally do. Not the fault of the hotel.
It is a nice old hotel in the centre of Stafford with nice facilities such as the bar and restaurant.
Í miðbænum. Vingjarnlegt starfsfólk.
Hundar pissa á gólfið í móttöku.
Spacious double room with aircon so it wasn’t too hot, comfy beds & really friendly & helpful staff
Very good

Top Lage mitten in der Innenstadt. Viele schöne Aufenthaltsmöglichkeiten innerhalb des Hotels.
Cosy and comfortable
The area is declining due to social decay but the hotel more than makes up for that
In centre of town Lovely location Quirky building Lovely and clean
Awkward to find entrance into carpark
Location & staff
Finding the car park!
Staff was very nice and helpful. Dinner was nice. Room was clean and good Wifi.
Room was very hot and couldn't open the window to get some fresher air. For breakfast I asked for mooshy scramble eggs and they were overcooked exactly the opposite of what I requested.
Lovely Stay. The prices for the food and drinks are very expensive 😫 £10.30 for a large wine !!!!
The prices at the bar. Very expensive. Went else wear for food and drinks.
Location great and staff are excellent
Only slight issue was rooms need a little updating to bring them.up to date with the rest of the hotel
Very pleasant experience.
Väldigt trevligt hotell.
Lite synd att varmvattnet krånglade.
The whole Hotel needs deep clean …. Food not good. We will never stay again. Only positive was two members of staff think her name was Ann Marie and young man in reception
The cleanliness of the Hotel.
This is my 2nd stay at the Swan and it didn’t disappoint. Rooms are comfortable and clean, food is delicious and the staff are all warm and friendly.
Food, Staff
No hot water. Noisy music at bedtime. Poor quality furniture in bedroom. Bathroom dirty, black Mold in shower. Nobody on reception after 3.00 pm
Very nice hotel with friendly helpful staff. Clean comfortable room with nice decor and comfy beds. Good breakfast.
Great staff, lovely food and super place
Nothing!
Comfortable and clean room and excellent breakfast.
All good
Lovely old hotel. Room was very spacious, there were nice little touches. Great location
Car parking. Staff friendliness. Room size and comfort.
Noise travelled up from below which was distracting.
Lovely so many different areas to sit in Great situation fab staff
It is a very large hotel with really nice rooms (albeit a bit dated) and a lovely restaurant with some nice outside space. There’s a car park too which is handy. The hotel has a long history which is also interesting. Food was great.
Whilst on the first morning breakfast came pretty quickly, we ended up waiting over an hour for breakfast to come on the second day, when it finally did come it wasn’t fully correct order either (we didn’t ask to fix it to avoid further delay as unfortunately this did make us late for our plans for the day). The hotel is also old so a little bit of a rabbits warren, if you need an accessible room or struggle with even just a little set of stairs it’s worth mentioning when booking as some of the rooms still require a small set of stairs even after using the lift.
Uniquement l'amabilité du personnel
La saleté Hôtel très vieux moquette tacheté toiles d'araignées
Great location we were travelling from Cornwall to Lake District stopped of here for two nights was perfect lovely hotel lots of places to sit inside and out excellent coffee shop nicest cheesecake I have ever tasted comfortable bed really hard working staff great car park lovely walk around Victoria park highly recommend this hotel
We were made to feel welcome on arrival. We were very pleased with our room, which was very comfortable. The dinner menu was varied, and the quality of food was very good.
It wasn't the fault of the Hotel, but directions to the car park could have been much clearer. We had difficulty finding the car park, even though we were within a fer metres of the Hotel.
Location and friendly Staff
I had booked a table for 7 people in the restaurant for 8 o’clock on the Saturday of that stay. The food and the service was poor. The selection of food was poor as lots of choices had run out or were not available. This was not mentioned when ordering. The service was also very slow.
It was a lovely hotel and the staff were really nice.
A little pricey for drinks, however I suppose thats what to expect in a hotel.
Really friendly staff and the hotel was really clean. The room was lovely with great facilities
Great location hard working staff lovely warm feel to the hotel excellent coffee shop parking a bonus beautiful park within walking distance would definitely return

Breakfast very good
The room Was not informed that it was over the "party" area Very loud Although provided with a fan, the window was so small it was to no benefit
Room was great arrived later so didn't try the food but had a drink in the bar and outside beer garden. Great old world feel to the hotel.
no issues
Good location and excellent breakfast
No air conditioning
Very comfortable and easy stay,
The rooms fire door, while understandably very necessary, was quite hard to open. We dined in the restaurant and I didn’t like the 12.5 percent service fee. We chose to have breakfast elsewhere due to this.
Treated a family member to afternoon tea and we were both looking forward to it. I’m not usually one to moan, however, the service was very slow, considering there was 2 other tables in the restaurant and wasn’t the best. We asked for other drinks but didn’t receive any, the server who came completely avoided our table and went to clear the other tables and asked if they wanted anything else. Because we waited for so long, we decided to pay and leave, the manager (I presume) asked if everything was alright and said no because we waited ages and felt like we weren’t looked after. She implied that the server wasn’t in the right headspace due to personal circumstances, which then made us feel uncomfortable because we weren’t happy and felt like it wasn’t value for money. As some form of apology, the manager gave us a complimentary hot drinks voucher which we will never use as I don’t think neither of us will be rushing to go back again. So overall, not a great experience of afternoon tea compared to others.
Beautiful property with lovely public areas, bar, restaurant etc.
Nothing.
Very clean spacious room, it had a luxurious feel. There was a fan in the room, as well as a coffee machine that was amazing.
The noise level outside was quite high as it’s on the high street. It’s not really the properties fault but if you’re a light sleeper you may struggle to get uninterrupted sleep. The floorboards are quite creaky as well, so you can hear other rooms walking around quite often.
Fabulous place with wonderful staff, Nina the manager and all the staff can’t do enough for me. Really enjoyed and will definitely going back again.
L’accueil le calme et la tranquillité
Location was perfect, staff extremely helpful, beautiful historic building
Limited menu, could more choice.
Clean and location
No gym
plenty of space in the rooms
Perfect stay
Nothing all was perfect
Location was great and room was lovely
Very hot day and windows were a struggle to open even a crack.
We stayed at The Swan hotel for the night as we were going to see Richard 111 at the theatre. It is in the middle of Stafford and has parking on site. We had a meal before the theatre with friends and we all enjoyed the food. The staff were very helpful and the room was very comfortable.
Great Hotel, Loved the bar area. Food was excellent. The room was very clean
Location helping staff car parking which was a plus point
Nothing
A great hotel in a fabulous posistion Staff were extremely obliging Breakfast was excellent served to the table
Trying to find the car park got lost
Heel vriendelijk personeel, fijne kamer
De douche hangt in een bad en dat vond ik wat onveilig bij het uitstappen.
Lovely staff, very efficent and helpful.Room was excellent as it was large , spacious ,nicely furnished and really clean.Had an evening meal in the hotel thar was very tasty and excellent value. The breakfast was top quality and really well prepared and served.Had a really enjoyable stay and would not hesitate to return to this high quality hotel.
I cannot fault anything about our stay. It was really pleasant.
ccount of one of the worst experiences I’ve ever had in a ‘hotel’. We arrived tired after a very long drive and immediately saw that the bed was sloping uncomfortably. We complained and were offered a refund. We decided due to the late hour that we would give it a go. Once we did so we realised that there were other issues- filthy fan, dirty loo, spiders, cobwebs, I found a bug on my pillow. The room was unbearably hot and the noise outside was terrible. A woman squatted in the street outside to urinate as we looked out, horrified. We attempted to level the bed with cushions- it didn’t work. At 1am we decided to leave and we went to the Holiday Inn down the road where we had a few hours sleep in a clean room before continuing our journey south to an important event at our son’s school. When we attempted to get a refund for this sub standard stay, we were horrified by the Swan’s appalling lack of care. They refused to refund despite our photos and despite the fact that nobody willingly leaves a hotel on the night unless the room is unacceptable. Today I discovered that in order to try to avoid taking responsibility, they told Booking.com that my husband was drunk on arrival! He had just driven for 3.5 hours so to try to suggest that he was drunk is a despicable lie. They also claimed that they couldn’t sell the room the next day because it needed extra cleaning- again- an out and out lie. We didn’t even use the bathroom- we saw how nasty everything was and left. This really is how not to do customer service. Oh, and when I checked my bank statement, they had charged me for the room twice! As for deluxe- no. £175 for an extremely tired, dirty, uncomfortable room and I’m currently £350 out of pocket plus the £115 I spent to stay somewhere else at 1am. A real debacle. On Sunday on our way home, we stayed at Hotel Indigo in Stratford upon Avon. Their standard room was a hundred times better than the Swan, much cheaper and the whole experience could definitely be described as deluxe in a way that the Swan will never be, without wholesale change and millions of pounds in investment! Coaching Inn Group should be ashamed of themselves by offering accommodation unfit for purpose, then lying and maligning respectable people who dare to complain. What happened to good old fashioned hospitality? I’ve asked Booking.com to sort out a refund and I’ve spent hours on something that should have been sorted out immediately without unseemly arguing the toss and lies. I’ve also escalated to senior management and will update this with a response.
Breakfast was ok but nothing special for the price
We previously when booking advised of a pet and a disability which was confirmed by the hotel with the confirmation email but was ignored when we checked in as the room had been allocated ignoring this.
We didn’t like anything. The room was £175 and supposedly deluxe. It was filthy, with dirt around the toilet lid, a a filthy broken fan, stained carpet, spiders and cobwebs. The noise in the street was terrible. We looked outside and saw a woman squatting and urinating in the street directly below the window. The room was ferociously hot and the windows don’t open properly.
Worst of all was the bed. It sloped to one side. We complained and were offered a refund but at nearly midnight after a long journey we decided to try and make do. We stuffed cushions under the mattress to try and level it. That was before we saw the dirt and heard the noise. We ended up leaving at 1am and going to a different hotel. In 30 years of travel, I’ve never left a hotel in the middle of the night- that’s how bad this place is.
Location in the centre of Town. Lovely room and staff
Problem with room toilet not flushing properly this was sorted ASAP and we were offered a free breakfast which was delicious 😋
Beautiful hotel in prime location, our room was amazing and really had the wow factor. Our bed was huge and super comfy. Check in was quick and easy and the staff are exceptional. Parking was onsite, unusual for a town centre location. Very reasonably priced for the quality of establishment and the breakfast was delicious. Would recommend to all!
Nothing to dislike! If I had to comment on anything it’s that there was only one double socket in our very large room (none at all by the bed) and no air con. Other than that, just perfect 😊
Was quite happy with hotel and staff until.we entered the bar for a pre dinner drink and was charged £7.70 for a SMALL glass of average pinot grigio. We were with family who had another room but we all decided to eat elsewhere rather than the hotel due to the over inflated wine prices. A bit of a shame really as we liked the layout of the hotel and the staff were friendly and helpful. Our room was ok although we all agreed they need to invest in decent toilet seats and replace the useless cheap plastic seats which weren't fit for purpose. The hotel is ideally situated in the centre of the town with plenty restaurants and bars in the vicinity.

Great to see the Swan back on form. Service was superb, the staff who were busy were totally in control multi tasking running the business and catering to customers needs. Food was great, served with perfection. Good value for money. Will be back for sure.
Visited yesterday with Friends and ordered drinks. Went to order food and more drinks was met with a little bit of a que so waited patiently for us then to be completely ignored by the bar server who was more interested in serving 3 girls that came after us and then when challenged on why he had completely ignored us was then further shocked to witness him TELL the bar manager to serve us. Now the bar manager who had not witnessed the issue then proceeded to completely ignore the issue and instead stated she was “willing to serve us” like we were the problem absolutely shocking service and even worse response to the situation that had occurred. Needless to say we won’t be back
Ordered a large cod and chips for the table , They were tiny and had a terrible flavour I was told to get the large cod as it was generous but would have been better off going to mariners fish bar, Overpriced and average quality
Location and the fact it had its own parking
Nothing
We recently celebrated our wedding in Stafford, and as part of our celebrations we had afternoon tea for 50 guests and an evening buffet for 60 guests. We also booked multiple rooms at the hotel. The staff at the hotel could not have done more for us and the whole day was enjoyed by all our guests. The food was amazing, the rooms were lovely and breakfast was great. The service and friendliness of all the staff was exceptional (especially Callum) and i would highly recommend the Swan for a stay in Stafford, or for any wedding or celebration.
Food for wedding reception, friendly service. Good location for wandering around town
Room was a single - but booked as part of wedding party. SatNav directed me left before car park - worth noting if not already mentioned in booking details
All was very nice
Clean and homely
Nothing apart from price
My only complaint is that i had a much nicer room the last time for the same price
Would not go again. Food not very good. Service indifferent. We had to order at the bar and set the table ourselves.
Great options for hot drinks
Location
Really lovely stay here in an amazing location, great amenities and fab restaurant. Breakfast was really nice too and staff were very helpful and friendly
Room was really hot and one small fan to cool down a really big fan.
Excellent location in centre of town with free parking. Outdoor seating with live music on holiday weekend.
Limited Menu.
Carla who worked evenings was so kind & helpful!
Breakfast excellent, staff very helpful, very nice room will return again
The noise from the main street (not vehicle noise) people noise early hours was really bad could have been a one off
The location and all the small private sitting areas within the hotel. Free parking in Stafford was also appreciated.
Our room 101 was really disappointing. No sachets of milk and thel toilet was too close to the towel rail and my husband burnt his knee. Bath taps were very stiff to turn on and off for the bath/shower. Adjusting the water temperature was impossible. Had to tolerate very hot showers. Staff appeared quite demoralised and didn't inform residents that they needed a coin token to exit the car park. It was bad value for two nights.
Everything brilliant
Quirky hotel with coffee shop and lots of little rooms to chill out. Staff very chatty and helpful.
Our room was a little small, we should have book teh next size up!
The staff were helpful and enthusiastic
It was very varied and well presented. All choices satisfied. The hotel is a short walk through a small pretty park and just into high street. staff were very helpful especially Callum and Babs.
Windows are painted shut so any escape other than through door is impossible. This also means no fresh air into room. Bathroom is well thought out but no shelving to lay personal toilet bag or toiletries (poor error). TV difficult to operate and no instructions or guidance available.
Good choice. Good service
Nothing because we couldn't find the hotel. Impossible to contact by phone, due to a robot answering. At the end of a tiring day we gave up and got incredible service at the Spitfire Premier Inn.. So paid twice - a rare example of being let down by Booking.com
See above - even the locals avoid Stafford.
Very comfortable room in a great central location. A nice evening meal.
Noise from internal corridors and the street outside prevented us from getting a good night’s sleep. Maybe the price you have to pay for a central location.
Good food lovely staff good location
I travel allot on business it is really nice to stay somewhere with character. The staff were all really helpful and the room was great, especially the bed mattress.
Staff were very helpful and friendly 🙂, and the food was very good. Lovely room and great sleeps.
It’s just wonderful in every way, the staff are outstanding 🤩 we regularly stay here with our dogs, they love it too as there’s always a bowl of treats waiting for them in the room!
Nothing!
Really nice facilities and the hotel is very cosy with lots of seating options to relax in
