It was a lovely hotel altho older it was very well maintained with lovely gardens and sitting on a canal and to top it off while eating breakfast we saw some canal boats sail on the canal
Nothing
We booked this as a wedding present for our son and his wife. They were blown away by the restaurant and the quality of the food. A further comment was that the bed was "huge and the room well appointed." They were delighted!
Lovely hotel. Room was comfortable, clean and spacious. The staff are friendly and attentive. We ate in the restaurant. The food was hot and tasty. We had a great night's sleep and the shower was hot and powerful. Lovely choice at breakfast. We would stay again.
Would prefer a walk in shower instead of over the bath type if I was being picky
An excellent comfortable stop over on the way to the north just off the motorway
All of the food and drink we had during our stay at breakfast and dinner was suburb. The quality, presentation and the choice available was excellent. Our room was comfortable, with good facilities in the room and bathroom. Our room was clean and tidy and well presented.
Sadly, there were flies in the restaurant when we had our evening meal, and at breakfast. I have no doubt this was nothing to do with the standard of cleanliness, just due to rural location and nearby cattle in fields adjacent to the hotel. The restaurant staff did everything they could to help and control the problem, but it was disturbing at times. Traffic noise from the nearby motorway was noticeable when we were inside our room. We have stayed in the hotel before, and previously we didn't hear or notice the traffic noise, but this time, maybe due to the location of our room, it was noticeable throughout the night.
Comfortable room. Good dinner at a sensible price. Good breakfast options. Beautiful setting too.
Minor signs of wear and tear: it is an old building! Pathway near the restaurant could do with some weed killer.
Location
Rather dated and dismal. Full of flies

Great breakfast and dining area, lovely welcoming staff, lovely original features in room
Bathroom needed a bit of TLC but clean nontheless
Stayed here a few times now and the location is gorgeous and very peaceful. The room we got this time was better than previous rooms.
We had a booking in the restaurant for 7.15pm but once we got downstairs to the restaurant we were told there was no space left so they put us in the bar. It's the same menu but obviously not the nice spacious, quieter setting that we wanted. Food was as always very good so hats off to the chefs. However once we finished our starters they were taken away and our main course placed down within the space of 1 minute!! When we finished our main course we were asked if we wanted dessert to which we replied "not yet, we've just had 2 extremely quick courses" no one came back to ask if we wanted anything after that including more drinks, coffee or a bill. We can only assume the staff had somewhere to go that evening because of the rush (the restaurant doors shut very early). Food very good but service needs attention.
Breakfast very good
The staff and service were both superb.

Beautiful setting, perfect for staying with dogs. They have an exercise paddock to you can walk your dogs in. Food is a very high standard. Room was very clean.
Only one small whinge was I think the mattress was too soft.
Staff at breakfast were very polite
Hotel was average at best. Looks nice from the outside but was dated inside. We had to move tables in the restaurant as the window was leaking. The food was poor for the money. My wife and I had the rib eye steak and it’s the worst Iv ever had. If you do need to stay at this hotel then do not eat here as over priced and rubbish quality. Breakfast wasn’t very good either, however the staff were very friendly for breakfast.
Dinner restaurant location was lovely.Would have preferred table with better views which were available,no French mustard, had to pay excessive amount to get wine upgrade, only served 2 cheeses when ordering and paying for 3 which only realized when looking at bill after checking out.
Was delighted with an upgrade on the room which was really appreciated tbf.overall excellent stay for a special occasion
Excellent breakfast. Beautiful outside spaces to sit and view the scenery
Room very dim lighting
Took a trip to the restaurant on a dinner time we didn’t think the menu was that good so we chose fish and chips with peas only because there wasn’t anything better and £5 for a bottle of water enough said
This was a very pleasant location through a nice little village. Despite its proximity to the busy M6, I couldn't hear it with the windows closed, in my room on that side of the hotel - effective air-con negated the need to open the window. When you stood at the reception side of the Hotel, outside, you could not hear the M6 either. Convenient for the M6 if you want a nicer stopover. Rooms were nice, showers worked well. All the staff we interacted with were very pleasant, and looking to please. I stay in a lot of hotels and would like an excuse to come back here. Always nice to be alongside a Canal , watching its sedate pace with a drink in your hand.
Very nice.
We didn't realise that a breakfast room was reserved for the wedding guests so missed the other guests as we were seated in the main room.
2 night stay, 11 and 12 August, what a lovely welcome and stay we had a lovely room and the stay was wonderful , the food was nice thanks to Dakota, Aimee, Sian, Emily, Grace , George, Izzy, Alex, Tilly, Jack, Hannah, Biscuit Lady Michelle thanks , and the Boss the Pond Cleaner have you finished it lol, also thanks to all staff not named and any miss spelling blame reception lol see you again Steve and Michele From Bedfordshire
Friendly staff, beautiful building and surroundings. Two lakes and canal. Although a wedding was also at the venue we were not disturbed by lots of noise and the staff coped well with the volume of customers. Had evening meal there and it was exceptional. Pudding was beautifully presented and delicious. Flavour combinations well designed and thought through. Recommend it, I think it was called a chocolate torte. Fire alarm went off in the evening, fire engine came quickly and staff handled the situation well and it wasn't too long before we were able to go inside. Breakfast choice was good and you could help yourself and chose exactly what you wanted to eat and your own portion size. Lovely to sit eating breakfast watching the canal boats go up and down.
Its about a field away from the M6. So some traffic noise. Ensuite clean and fresh but tiles and vanity unit a bit outdated.
Exceptional Evening Meal.

Food at dinner and breakfast in the restaurant was amazing. Gorgeous surroundings, a peaceful setting, and grounds to walk around, with the restaurant backing onto a canal. Lovely clean rooms, and attentive staff. Staff were just lovely and really made a fuss of my daughter who was there for her birthday, we are really grateful. There was a wedding going on when we arrived which did make us a bit worried about it being very busy and noisy but we needn't have worried - the wedding facilities were fully separate to the bar and restaurant, and the grounds spacious enough that we hardly noticed. We also didn't hear any noise at all during the night.
The only thing that I would comment on is that there was no air conditioning - there was an air con interface on the wall but it had a box over it and it didn't work. We were a bit unlucky with this because it was 34 degrees on the day we stayed so it was a struggle. We were supplied with two large fans. But that is my only criticism, it is a beautiful hotel.
The room was lovely with excellent children’s beds and nice pub area, restaurant and garden. On first arrival our view was extremely positive
It was extremely hot in the bedroom. We are aware staff can’t control heat waves but our room was considerably hotter than outside temperature and we think it would be wise to have better systems in place to keep the rooms cool. We were told other rooms have air con but not family rooms which is a bit frustrating as children are sensitive to heat!
Everything!
Stunning setting and fantastic service. That was our 2nd visit would highly recommend and will be back.
Nothing to dislike
Gorgeous hotel, friendly welcoming staff, extremely dog friendly

Hotel very convenient for breaking journey along the M6. Signposted well. Pleasant hotel with spacious rooms, comfortable beds - and we enjoyed an evening meal in the restaurant. I had selected the hotel based on it having air conditioning, only to discover our room only had a fan. It was stiflingly hot and the window opening had been restricted for safety purposes. Some rooms have air conditioning and others do not - so do check directly with the hotel if this is important to you. The grout in the shower could have done with a good clean and there were cobwebs on the ceiling - but the place has bags of character - so individuals will come to different conclusions about whether this is the place for them or not. We would stay again - but not in a heat wave unless we had pre-arranged a room with a/c.
Dinner was very good.
Breakfast was not to our expectations
Good staff and pleasant location.
We booked an apartment for 7 people (5 adults and two 16-years old teenagers) and when we arrived we were not able to fit all 7 people - they provided sofa bed for two people but it was hardly able to fit one 16 year old teenager (the measure of sofa was 90x160 cm - one guy was 170cm, one 185 cm). When we complained, the guy managing the reservation (Gordon) was very rude and in fact he told us: take it or leave it! and us recommended us to leave.... When we asked him if he will return money if we will leave and find something else, he said NO. At the end we got floated mattress, so we paid 162 GBP/person for sleeping on floated mattress.... Also, they promised wifi which didn't work. So, anybody looking for nice vacation/stay in Fort Augustus should avoid staying at The Moat house - it is very expensive and they overpromise what you don't get...
Great staff without exception Good non pretentious food
Rooms need a little spruce up if anything
The setting is beautiful and the staff were so helpful and friendly

The food was extremely disappointing. My wife had the fish finger sandwich and I had the burger and they were awful. Fish not crispy and the burger looked out of McDonald's, clearly from the freezer. Very expensive as well.
Room comfortable.
Unkept. Food was terrible!!
Outstanding location and lovely staff
It was better than I had hoped. I had a very comfortable stay. Very good value for money and convenient for M6 The staff were attentive. In the restaurant especially the service was better than in similar priced places. Tasty food and haste free WiFi

Fantastic location, great outside areas, very relaxing.
The beds were a little hard, also breakfast was not the best breakfast I have had. The fried eggs and bacon were undercooked.
Great location and facilities, really dog friendly
Rooms were excellent, comfortable with good pillows. Fabulous shower. Dinner was great Lovely grounds and surrounding village
Room was a bit hot, aircon not working. Shower could definitely have been cleaner. Breakfast was great if you wanted a cooked breakfast but a little limited otherwise, especially for those of us with dietary restrictions
Good sized air-conditioned bedrooms -very clean. The location is very pretty and only 2 miles off the M6 both going south and north. Ideal for an overnight stop. Foid was of a high standard too .

Location was stunning, Reception staff excellent 👍
Bar staff extremely slow con bring out food , apart from one staff member , he kept apologising for others . Food ok , the typical pub food just a little disappointed overall as the service was second to none for my wedding reception.
Wonderful experience. Staff were amazing and friendly. Nothing was too much trouble. The chef was very accommodating to my allergies. Would go back again .
Lovely grounds and nice hotel
There was a children's prom on at location which we were not informed about. So with our window close to the carpark had a lot of revving cars as kids arrived. Good for kids but paying what we did would have been nice to have been told prior as we're were after something a little more chilled
The location is just so beautiful
Arriving to a prom
Personeel was te laat. Ontbijt moest nog georganiseerd worden Weinig keuze
It’s convenient for the motorway and there’s a big car park. But that’s about it. Arrived and checked in. The room was ground floor and is tired and smells of use and feet and too many people, without a deep clean. Brass fittings, yellowing sockets and tired looking carpet tell a sorry story. The aircon panel is flashing a bleak E004. A trip to reception and I am tartly informed not all the rooms aircon is connected. A quick error code search reveals that it’s just old and knackered and probably leaking. The makeshift box hiding the control panel fools nobody. The restaurant is however fiercely air conditioned which is good given its 9pm and 25 outside. The menu is pretty standard. Seafood pasta is stretching the definition of seafood…white crab meat…disappeared and king prawn…which I realised too late was singular. It’s perfectly edible if mostly just fresh pasta with a bit of a seafood sauce. Overall the place is tired in dire need of a refresh and some new carpets and functional aircon. There’s a Premier Inn up the road I think they might get my trade next time.
Location was excellent. Dinner offered good range on menu and was delicious
Breakfast could have been better organised. Plates and glasses ran out & service was willing but slow.
I stay at The Moat House regularly, so this isn't the review of someone who visited once and got unlucky. It's a genuinely lovely hotel... for most of the year. The location is beautiful. There's a canal, a pond, wildlife, and enough tranquillity to convince you your blood pressure has finally dropped below "office email." The reception staff are always friendly, the rooms are generally comfortable, and while the occasional mattress feels like it was sourced from a Victorian prison, most are perfectly good. Some rooms have air conditioning, while others offer the traditional British cooling system of two fans and blind optimism. The spring menu is excellent. The roasted carrots deserve legal protection. Then summer arrives and someone apparently declares war on flavour. The carrots disappear into witness protection, everything acquires miso, and half the menu seems determined to remind you that fish exist. Please bring back the carrots. The miso has had a good run. Then the evening arrives... The peaceful countryside hotel transforms into Budget Ibiza. The bass is so aggressive it doesn't just come through the walls—it arrives like a double-decker bus has accidentally driven through your room. It's currently 10:20 pm as I write this, and all I can hear is screeching guests, someone shouting into a microphone, and music with bass so relentless that a dentist's drill starts to sound quite relaxing by comparison. Outside, it's no better. Cars arrive revving engines as though they're auditioning for a Fast & Furious sequel nobody asked for. Stereos are blaring, the occasional siren announces another dramatic entrance, and on my last stay we watched a nearby horse visibly shaking from the noise. If the local wildlife is contemplating moving out, it's probably time to rethink the evening entertainment. It's genuinely frustrating because, without the summer parties, this hotel would easily be a 9/10. The staff are excellent, the setting is beautiful, and most of the experience is exactly what you'd hope for from a countryside retreat. Unfortunately, prom season turns it into an endurance event. Please bring back the roasted carrots, retire the miso, and remember that not every countryside hotel needs to moonlight as a nightclub.
Lovely room, excellent dinner and breakfast
Fantastic pub with a great atmosphere. The beer selection is excellent, and everything is well kept. The staff are always polite, friendly, and welcoming, making every visit enjoyable. The building itself is amazing, full of character and history. Definitely one of the best places in Tamworth for a drink. Highly recommended!
Tasty Breakfast, comfortable bed and clean room, very good evening mealand excellent staff throughout
NA
The hotel is beautiful and the dinner was great. Unfortunately the breakfast and service was very disappointing. At 8.45am no tables to sit at as most had piles of congealed plates on. The most bored member of staff who had no smile in her just sort of shrugged and said try and find a table thats laid up. We said that there is no food left, no sausage, no mushrooms, no beans and a lump of old scrambled egg. Waited an age for coffee, no refill offered.. had to ask for toast… The rooms are ok, but the usual one huge lump af a pillow and one paper thin one so always wake up with a bad neck. Checking out .. The girl didn’t look up or ask how our stay was, which I thought was standard. Its a shame because the pub and restaurant food was great. It was only a quick night over but wouldn’t stay again.
The entire grounds and property are stunning!
Very narrow roads to get there
Beautiful place very scenic. Breakfast was very nice
Not all the rooms have air-conditioning. It was scorching hot and I phoned before hand to make sure. For the prices they charge, all the rooms should have Aircon. I thought that was really poor to be honest for £185 a night, l would expect it personally
Another fantastic stay at Moat House for my parents, who simply won't stay anywhere else when they're visiting the area! The whole team were phenomenal from start to finish. Apologies that we didn't manage to get everyone's names, but Hannah on reception was amazing at check-in, and Kirsty was excellent at check-out. The bar, restaurant and food service teams were all incredibly friendly and welcoming, making guests feel genuinely valued throughout their stay. A special mention also to the young gentleman in the restaurant, who was exceptionally polite and professional, and to the young lady serving food in the bar area. We understand she's fairly new, but she serves customers with such pride and enthusiasm that you'd think it was her own business. It's wonderful to see the Lewis Partnership adding her talents to an already outstanding team. As always, the surroundings are beautiful, with stunning wildlife and a wonderfully relaxing atmosphere. The Sunday roast was delicious, and the breakfast was simply divine – only surpassed by the exceptional customer service. We're also looking forward to visiting the Dog & Doublet, another property within the same group and conveniently located nearby. We visit Moat House ourselves whenever we want to relax, and my parents genuinely won't consider staying anywhere else when they're in town. That's probably the highest compliment we can give. Truly one of the best hospitality experiences around. Thank you to the entire team – we can't wait to return.

Lovely setting and environment. Food and service very good. Staff all very helpful and happy.
Getting served in the bar could have been quicker
Location pleasant with a lake on one side and a canal on the other.
We expected a more historic feel as the original building is very old but it was quite corporate in decor and set up and geared towards weddings and business events. Not a criticism, just not for us.
We would like to thank the staff of the Moat House yesterday. Everything was perfect and we particularly appreciated the help in getting my husband to the disabled toilet.
We recently held a birthday celebration here, and from start to finish, the day was absolutely superb. The food was excellent, especially the sausage rolls. They weren't traditional sausage rolls as we know them, but a more refined, gourmet version that went down very well with everyone. The room was beautifully set up, with elegant glasses, plates, cutlery, and plenty of space for guests to mingle comfortably. The doors opened onto a lovely seating area overlooking the canal, and on such a hot day, the gentle breeze coming through made the room even more enjoyable. The staff were outstanding throughout the event. They were attentive with drink orders, serving white wine in ice buckets and red wine at the perfect temperature on the tables. Tea and coffee were served afterwards, adding a lovely finishing touch. We had brought along a birthday cake, and the team presented it beautifully, decorating it with the items we had provided. They brought it into the room while everyone sang "Happy Birthday", which made the occasion feel very special. One of our guests unfortunately had a fall during the event, and the staff responded immediately. They were caring, professional, and attentive, bringing out a first-aid kit, helping her to a seat, and providing a cold pack for her injuries. Their kindness and concern were greatly appreciated. As guests began to leave, some of us remained outside by the canal to finish our drinks while others ordered coffee. It was a wonderful way to end a fantastic afternoon. The ambience of the hotel is exceptional. Parking is excellent, the function rooms are beautifully decorated, and the whole venue has a welcoming and relaxed atmosphere. I genuinely couldn't fault a single aspect of the day. It was a wonderful celebration and a credit to everyone involved. I'd rate that as a strong 5-star.
La ubicación
En realidad es un lugar muy tranquilo, la ubicación es genial y es muy cómodo para 1 o dos personas. Había que subir varias escaleras para nosotros no fue un problema pero quizá si alguien tiene problemas de movilidad podría ser un problema.
everything the room the staff and the food were fabulous The views were amazing

Pretty setting, good perking.
Very old fashioned and in need of an update.
We had a really lovely and spacious room. Nice powerful shower. Plenty of parking and an excellent location just minutes from the M6 yet still set in a peaceful village.
The coffee cups at breakfast were too small. Although j wasxable to ask the waitress for a top up, I would have preferred being able to either serve myself coffee or to have had a larger cup or even a small cafetiere on the table.
Lovely building nice room good staff
Breakfast Had to ask for glasses for juice Had to ask for salt and pepper Had to ask for butter for toast No spoons on the table for cereal or yoghurt Kids helping themselves to hot food with their hands
Second time at the hotel. The hotel is beautiful. Spacious and comfortable room. Good service. Good breakfast. The food in the restaurant is excellent.

The staff were extremely helpful and I couldn’t have asked for any more.
Great team members very helpful and cheerful.
Noise from road
Lovely quaint hotel in a beautiful setting.Nice breakfast and great seating area outside front of hotel.
Lack of air con although fan already set up in room.
An incredible wedding weekend in our local dream venue. From the minute we booked it, to the very final hour of the day, the team were amazing at looking after us. From Lexie and Hannah to the chefs in kitchen, they supported our ideas every step of the way and every guest loved it. The location is perfect and the surroundings were beautiful.
Between a canal and a duck pond very picturesque.
There was no porter to help with heavy luggage , I asked for a fridge in my room as I am diabetic , this was refused . In my room the hand basin in the bathroom was extremely slow to drain , obviously the cleaning staff dont check this enough .
We had a comfortable bed and our room overlooked a small patio area. We slept well and enjoyed a lovely breakfast
We ate in the restaurant for dinner and due to a wedding event felt that we were not a priority. My meal which was requested without olives arrived with olives so I had to fish them out and we had to ask where our drinks order was because it didn’t arrive.
We booked the moat house as we was having a canal cruise we was supposed to be taking our dogs which is why we booked And to be nearer the place we was going to We arrived Friday 22nd may 26 As the weather was going to be in the high 20s we decided to leave the dogs at home with kids Booking in was easy The room was really nice to say they let dogs in It was clean no smell of dogs and everything you needed The staff were very friendly and accommodating The bar area and outside seating is really nice We decided to have a meal which was very good too produce Waiting staff were polite and attended to all our needs We had a waiter that had his 1st night there think we was his 1st customers and he was very good All in all definitely recommend Would go back
My room was large and very clean. and I booked for an evening meal in the restaurant, the beef suet pudding was excellent and the rhubarb dessert was to die for :) . Breakfast was good. The staff throughout my short stay where very pleasant and chatty , with nothing being too much trouble. I would certainly recommend the Moat House.
There was nothing that I didn't like.
Absolutely beautiful hotel in a stunning location. The room was so comfortable, clean and peaceful. All staff were very helpful.
Leuk oud hotel
De matrassen waren te zacht voor ons maar zal voor anderen helemaal goed zijn. De badkamer kan wel een upgrade gebruiken maar functioneert nog prima.
Dog friendly
Nothing all good
Location is great. Hotel grounds are nice. Staff are helpful and friendly.
Rooms are a little dated. TV is basic (not a smart TV so no Netflix or YouTube). Breakfast service starts at 7am. This is a little late if you need to get on the road as a business traveller.
I booked a superior room for 2 nights with my wife. We arrived about 2.30pm and the room wasn’t ready. There was some confusion from the front desk about our dinner reservation, the receptionist stated I didn’t have a booking and despite my assertions she didn’t really seem to believe that I had booked it months ago. She said it wasn’t recorded. She only relented when I showed her their messages to me confirming the booking. Awaiting the room we went to the bar. The staff in the bar were lovely and it was well priced for a hotel, the actual bar was a little cold. When we got into the room, I can’t say it was ‘superior’. It was a little small, cold and not well lit. There was no safe nor minibar/fridge something I would have expected for £162 per night. When I raised this at reception it wasn’t well received, although the lady was friendly and polite and they did put a heater in the room. Evening meal was lovely and again the staff in the bar, where we ate, were lovely and provided a great service. Breakfast on the first morning was a buffet affair and in the main was well cooked. On the second morning breakfast wasn’t as good, my wife had Eggs Benedict but the poached eggs were hard (as were mine) and the Hollandaise sauce was split, we never got the requested toast- poor show chef! The actual grounds at the hotel were beautiful and lovely to walk around the lake and close by canal. A nice hotel but not as good as I expected.
We have visited The Moat Hotel Acton Trussell on many occasions. The team led by Vanessa are always attentive and nothing is too much trouble. The main reason for this review is to acknowledge the presentation and quality of food. First Class, couldn't fault anything. Food served on hot plates as it should be. Presentation as good as any 5 Star. Highly recommended
Just returned from our third stay at the very welcoming Moat House. Lovely, peaceful spot, surprisingly just a stone's throw from the M6 though you'd never believe it. All the staff are super friendly (especially if you have a dog with you!), our room was spacious, warm and comfortable. Great choice at breakfast and if it's a buffet day they are still happy to cook something from the normal menu. Dinner menu also offers a great choice, grill night on Tuesdays (2 steaks and a bottle of wine for £50, great value) chicken supreme and steak and ale suet pudding also highly recommended. Good to book ahead because they seemed busy, even midweek. Lots of great canal walks either direct from the hotel or a short drive away and NT Shugborough Hall about a 15 minute drive. Always enjoy our stay here and already booked for next year.
Beautiful grounds in a lovely location. Building has character but could do with a bit of TLC
The service was a bit hit and miss, and ‘pub’ area was great but the restaurant was disappointing compared.
Outside area and lovely large room
Restaurant was a bit pricy for the quality
Location just off M6 and in beautiful grounds. The food is first class and just the right proportions. Despite a few gripes, this is a lovely hotel, but definitely geared more for weddings
Music too loud at breakfast and massive, hot duvet - but of course some people like the heating on all the time! The car chargers are Pod Point that not everyone uses and no opportunity to pay by card.
Location good room comfortable bed very scenic
Bedside light didn’t work Table service was poor
Really lovely bedroom, great surroundings and fab breakfast!
Everything! The grounds were so lovely. We did alot of walking to discover the canal at the rear. Loved the pond at the front with all the ducks and swans.
There was nothing to dislike!
The hotel is beautiful from every angle. Our room was spotless, and had a very comfy bed. Well kept gardens, outside seating, by the canal. Swans roam freely in the gardens and lake. It helped that the weather was great. Great place to stay.
Can't think of a single thing. If this hotel is not perfect, then I would like to see the one that is.
Location was great good parking great. Staff
Possibly if we could have had some tee or coffee on the self service along with some bread and butter rather than having to order it
A brilliant location adjacent to the Stafford canal and a large lake with nesting swans. The view was special watching the sun set from the restaurant over the canal and the fields to the M6 with thousands of cars and lorries rushing up and down; seen but not heard. So far so good, and onto the food, well the wine was good. If you see truffle on the menu as the first ingredient you expect to be able to tase it and the meat course is not meant to give your jaw a big workout. For a two rosette restaurant we were disappointed. The superior room was like a lot of business hotel rooms and all functional. Unfortunately you could hear and feel the springs in the mattress so not such a good sleep. Breakfast was in the restaurant and most tables were piled with dirty dishes and not cleared. When we were eventually served it was all good. The hotel fills up in the morning with business people and the big car park went from nearly empty to full. Overall a great location but not for us.
We were very surprised to be given a suite when we arrived at no additional cost
Nothing
Beautiful building surrounded by stunning gardens and bordering the canal. Very easy to access the towpath for a gentle stroll. Our room was spacious and well equipped and the bathroom was spotless. We booked in for our evening meal and the staff were super, very efficient, friendly and welcoming and the food was absolutely top notch, everything was perfectly cooked and great quality. Would definitely stay here again and would definitely recommend it to friends and family, however, we were less impressed with the breakfast service. The food in the buffet area seemed to only appear sporadically, some items only appeared as we were about to finish and tables were left uncleared. The coffee wasn’t particularly hot and is served to you rather than help yourself but these were minor issues in what was a lovely hotel. Only other issue we had was the lack of bright lights in our room, there were no reading lights above the bed.
All went well...stayed there before and it was to the same good standard

Breakfast. I found I was able to have a lovely healthy breakfast, along with plenty of delicious coffee. The staff were so helpful and friendly. And, of course, we had a lovely view into the gounds of the hotel.
The only thing, really, was the lack of vegetables at dinner. The only side dish that was non-potato veggies, was buttered carrot and swede at £5.95. I'd bought a kilo of carrots in Aldi the previous week for 4p and swede for about 10p each in the special Easter deals from our supermarkets. I really would have preferred something GREEN.
Lovely Room, great location and freindly staff. Good Breakfast
