Provider-sourced guest reviews.
The a/c vents were dirty, received a dirty towel from the initial housekeeping, the room had an overbearing musty scent (possibly from the cloth couch &/ the bed skirt) and the shower was infested with sewer gnats (we keep a wet towel over the drain to keep them out). Extremely disappointed.
4th year, of 5 day stays, 4 months in a row, staying at Valentines Resort and Marina. Location and amenities were a strong 4 star in the beginning. But each year has gotten worse. Room maintenance has deteriorated but worse has been the staff and dining / bar area. Quality and speed of service and food has gotten horrible. Seems to be plenty of wait staff available but little desire to be attentive or diligent in their duties. Meanwhile menu choices have reduced and quality of food preparation has declined. Food / bar quality and service is a huge part of any resorts amenities. This decline can only be laid on management. It is a shame to see this decline as Valentines was a great experience all around. And could be again.
Valentines is a very nice resort in Harbour Island. It has a marina and nice restaurant and bar. If you go there ask for Curtis, he is like a super concierge. He will help you find anything you need. He made a big difference on the quality of our stay at Valentines.
Hard to review this place since while staying here I learned that each room is individually owned and therefore the quality and upkeep may depend on what room you get. The property itself is lovely, the common areas well maintained. The pool is great for kids and families (not for couples looking for quiet or serene). Our one bedroom townhouse was clean, the master bath is luxurious, bed comfy and overall, the room looks like what you see in the hotel pictures. But, the rugs and upholstery were a bummer and really need to be changed out. It doesn't need a complete overhaul - its needs small upgrades and someone to take a look around and care. The kitchen is very poorly equipped with trashy pots and pans. Our stove was completely nonfunctional. I wouldn't stay here again but I wouldn't not recommend it since at average $750/night it's an "affordable" option if you have kids with you. The housekeeping staff is awesome - so kind and friendly and clearly work so hard - but keep in mind in general this is a self-service marina hotel.
For the steep rates we have been charged we were expecting superior service, which is not what we have received: On the first day, room cleaning was incomplete; the kitchen area was left entirely untouched. On the second day, no cleaning was conducted at all. Despite service staff arriving at 4:30 PM and promising to clean the room shortly after, it was never completed. Maintenance Issues: TV cabinet door broken and the terrace mosquito screen detached remained unresolved On our final night, the toilet flushing system failed. Upon inspection, I noticed severe rusting, which rendered the unit almost unusable. All these issues were detailed also in a mail to the manager, after a month my mail is still unanswered, is this the customer focus a top-notch hotel is proud of?
.
We were celebrating our 30th wedding anniversary and the hotel feel short in several areas. First off the room had an order and the temperature could not be adjusted. I'm a cancer patient and require cooler inside temperature. I called the front desk and was told that they would send maintenance. They never did and I inquired later that day if my money could be refunded because of my health issue. I was told NO. This was very astonishing and disappointing of how rude the front desk was on answering and responding to my simple request. We stayed 2 days and was glad to leave. The view was beautiful but we would rather spend more money for comfort and customer service that we have grown accustomed to. On the second day our bed was had sand in the sheets this was very upsetting. We would not stay here ever again.
We booked a 5-night stay at Valentine’s Resort and are currently on our third night, with two nights remaining. Here are several issues have detracted from the experience so far: 1. Noise Issues: The biggest problem is the noise from upstairs—every step, bathtub filling, and toilet flushing from upstairs is clearly audible. We requested a room change, but the issue persisted, confirming it’s the flooring. With the resort fully booked, we had no choice but to endure it. Last night, the guests above us returned after 11 PM, their loud footsteps echoing across the floor and waking us up. The noise continued for some time, making it impossible to fall back asleep and leaving us frustrated. 2. Housekeeping Concerns: Despite requesting service with the door sign, our room was not cleaned on the first day. On the second day, we returned to find that the bed was made, but no cleaning or towel replacement had been done. About an hour later, someone knocked and asked if we needed service. On the third day, we had to personally ask for housekeeping and fetch towels ourselves. 3. Room Maintenance: The drawer in the room wouldn’t stay closed, resulting in an injury when I accidentally hit the sharp corner. This could have been easily fixed. 4. Mosquito Troubles: A broken mosquito net led to a sleepless first night, with mosquitoes buzzing and leaving bites. This also could have been resolved with a simple fix. At $1200 per night, we expected a much higher standard of service and comfort. While the resort’s location and potential are undeniable, these issues have significantly impacted our stay. This review is shared to help others make informed decisions.
In general, the property and staff were wonderful as you would expect at this price point. But the room itself left much to be desired: no full-length mirror, working lightbulbs, any hot water for the beautiful tub, light switches somewhat near the lights they controlled.
Island living with all of the amenities. The staff is very friendly and accomodating.
This is my very first time ever visiting the establishment and I can honestly say the staff are extremely welcoming especially our wonderful waitress Lucy. Normally I'm not good with names but she is UNFORGETTABLE!!! She was such a warm welcoming attentive server and we will definitely be returning!!! Keep up the great work Lucy!
We visited the bar at Valentines a couple of times for drinks and lunch. The food was good, the drinks too. Staff very friendly and a great vibe. So on our last night on Harbour Island we booked for dinner. We went early for a drink at the bar. All ok. We decided to order an appetiser while at the bar. No hummus today. No artichoke dip. So we ordered a quesadilla. After some time our waitress asked how things were going and we said we were waiting for our quesadilla. She clearly hadn’t even ordered it, but did so then. We finished our drinks and were hoping to order some more. Waitress didn’t come near us. Eventually we decided to cut our losses and find dinner somewhere else, not wanting to spend our evening waiting and frustrated. When we went to pay for our drinks and tell them we were leaving, the waitress blamed the kitchen!!!!! But the kitchen didn’t have anything to do with taking our order and giving our drinks order to the bar tender. This was not a great start to our last night on HI. I am sorry it has canceled out our good experiences. It could be such a great place for dinner, but it needs to have the right staff.
What a gem! Fantastic friendly staff , clean grounds , amazing beach and access , phenomenal food , and wonderful stay. I am a hotel “snob” and found this place to have its own sense of Bahamian class. Are the facilities perfect ? No , but they are more than adequate for an island vacation. We debated between the coral sands and valentines and are so glad we chose valentines. We will be back!
My flight crew team has been coming here for nearly a decade. Utilizing the Valentines resort for crew accommodations, this resort is the best facility per price, especially during off peak time.
Absolutely perfect vacation and beautiful place to stay!!
Love this place! Fun. Tyler and the team were fantastic! Even Al the dog was great to meet. Idalma was a joy at Valentines Rooster Tail bar. We will be back!
Super well set up property! Great pool for kids! Great food options! Beautiful water views and sunset bar!
I have been staying at Valentine’s every year for the past 3 years. Excellent Hotel and warm and friendly staff. I highly recommend this hotel when staying on Harbour Island.
Convenient at the harbour side by the marina
The sofa bed wasn’t made so we had to make the bed ourselves. After paying over $600 a night I was disappointed. Also the hotel at first claimed I made a purchase that was charged to our room which was not true. We paid cash for it. In addition it refused to issue a final receipt showing that we had no outstanding balance because we booked the rooms through Expedia. The staff members are nice but the service is slow at the restaurant. Will not stay there again.
Valentines Resort is the perfect getaway! The staff are beyond friendly, the resort is well maintained with a great location. This was our third visit this year. We just love it and can't wait to return soon!
Great bar, sorta inflated prices but expected. One of the more active spots after 8pm.
Front dest staff was amazing. Great location & hotel amenities
While the setting is great and the room size is good the rooms suffer from a serious mildew odour particularly the clothing dressers. If you opened a dresser drawer you would be overcome by an incredibly powerful mildew smell. We are talking it was so bad you could taste it. Honestly the smell ruined the visit. Burn the dressers and replace them. You are never getting rude if that smell.
Property was ok, staff were professional and courteous. Food is too expensive, breakfast for 2 was 65 dollars for 2 omelets. I rented 2 rooms at 488 dollars Per Night and did Not get Not even a Water in the rooms.
I love the place, excellent service and food. The staff so friendly and helpful.
Very nice room, very clean, nice marina, golf carts available on site.
We took our yacht to Valentines for a 3 night stay along our Bahamas island hopping trip. It was a nice marina, good restaurant, and pretty good fitness center (considering your at a marina resort). We rented a golf cart and explored the island of Eleuthera. The locals are very nice and we enjoyed our trip. We are planning another trip to Eleuthera within the next year…and we will stay in Valentines marina again !!!
Beautiful property. Nice staff at all properties at this location. Would highly recommend.
A
The place is nice and the people is excellent, the food is good
Property and staff were great. Food was excellent.
room was nice but furniture (coach) had wear and tear in it. The a/c unit is set at 72F and you can not adjust even when the temperature outside is close 100 F. Shortage of beach towels. Also had rodents around the property.
Great resort
Where I stay when on the island.
This is for the bar-restaurant only. And maybe it’s for foodies. We spent the day on Harbour Island. We first dined waterside where celebrities / wealthy arrive in yachts. We had followed a sign that said “Lobster Quesadillas” but security informed us that 1. it was not lobster season and 2. regular people could eat there. So we had amaaaaaaazing $30 snapper ceviche. Later on, we dined at the Valentines bar. The server was grouchy. The conch soup tasted like a can of tomato soup was poured with a can of vegetable soup and some wee-bits of conch were added. It was lukewarm. I was actually offended that someone would try to charge money for it. The bread pudding was a warm carrot-cake muffin with whipped cream around it. Why would anybody call that bread pudding?
Our room had a lot of flys. The staff when they came to clean left the flys on the floor
Great service !!
The rooms were unsatisfactory. Insects. Broken items. Poor lighting. Old towels. Not cool enough. Not what you would expect for the price.

Love the staff, rooms, water and pink beaches! Definitely will be back!
Great staff, extremely friendly and very helpful!! Thank you!!!
Amazing property and stay!
LOVE THE STAFF AT VALENTINES. ALWAYS SO ACCOMODATING AND THE ROOMS ARE HUGE!
Perfect spot to land in Paradise whether on boat or by land. New owners are simply delightful. Staff and amenities are top notch. Beach or pool or available and chairs are always free. Restaurants are delish as the chef is one of the best from Austria. Dive shop and diving is onsite. All around - this spot has everything for everybody. Bucket list worthy for travelers of all ages.
Had the opportunity to celebrate my birthday once again on Harbor Island. First and foremost, we encountered nothing but professionalism at Valentine's Resort. The front desk ladies, and Curt the attendant were superb. In addition, we dined at the Rooster Bar- I would highly recommend their grilled chicken caesar salad with the conch chowder soup.
Valentines staff is exceptional, and they have kept the resort in good shape with recent investments since last stay. Housekeeping is outstanding. The only ding is the AC doesn’t go below 72, and runs 74-75 most of the time. If your used to keeping your place cool, take note.
Very good 👍
Very easy and casual- great cocktail menu and a full equipped bar which is surprisingly hard to find in the island. Lovely service as well! Here you will have a lovely view plus the food menu option is very tasty. If in harbour island please do visit this place!
Just back from a cold weather escape to Valentines Resort and I would rate it a " WOW" !! My first visit - so did not know what to expect ... but definitely recommending to friends ! Thank you's to Chris at the Bar, and Curt for fresh flowers in my room and taking such good care of us !! Beach chairs at pink sands perfect ! And fantastic happy hour for sunsets at marina .
Great selection for first time to Bahamas. Lee and staff were professional in every regard.
Quaint hotel at a great location. Private beach close by. Recommend renting a golf cart to get around the island.
Lovely hotel, The rooms were beautiful clean and with all the amenities you would need. Staff were really friendly. Great bar with lovely food. The hotel was a great base to explore the island, I would recommend this hotel.
It was amazing.
We were on Harbour Island for a wedding and the “recovery brunch” was held at Valentines. They offered a brunch of fresh fruit, scrambled eggs , breakfast potatoes, mini pancakes, sausage and bacon, and more. It was fresh and delicious. We were so impressed we came back that night to watch football at their outdoor bar and have dinner. It’s a beautiful location and the food was delicious.
The property was beautiful and extremely clean. All the staff were friendly and helpful.
Restaurant was closed and no activities was pool and bar were good.
We liked that it was nice and quiet and very relaxing. The rooms are very spacious. We didn’t like housekeeping banging on the door so early in the morning. We didn’t have a “do not disturb” sign to hang outside on the door.
Very disappointed in this resort, we paid over $1200 per night for. If you are searching for a hotel with "beach" and "pool" I would take these two criteria off of this listing. The beach was literally the public beach with private chairs set up. There was zero service at the beach, no place for drinks, food, no toy rentals, etc. Nothing. It is completely empty because of this issue. Guests give up and eventually end up at Ms. V's where you can easily rent chair set up for $25, she has great drinks and serves lunch/ snacks, has free beach toys for kids and you can rent boogie boards. It is very lively where she is on the exact same beach of "pink" sands. So, save some money and get a place without a beach amenity. The pool is lackluster, again, no staff. The picture of the guy at the bar serving, is not true, they do have the set up but there is no alcohol or happy face. No music in the background, nothing. So take that off of your criteria or find a hotel with a more charming pool than this. Cleanliness and maintenance is also a problem. There was trash all over the place in the garden beds, the same trash was in the beds outside our room the entire stay. Plastic bottles to paper wrappers... not well kept at all. I went to the front desk for something and there were 3 people there needing something fixed in their room. Our room had a broken seal to the shower and lights out, AC not working well... and we just didn't bother telling them, it was clear they don't care for the upkeep. You also have to ask to have your room cleaned! For the price you would think they would include and it is, but you have to ask. We didn't get fresh pool towels until the 3rd day, which is why I was in the lobby. Loud, we didn't get one good night's sleep there between the rooster and the noise from outside/ rooms above us. Poor construction and we heard every move. We did really like a few waitresses and Kurt who helps with baggage, etc. Some waitresses we couldn't figure out until my husband said it feels like we are putting them out to order something. (the bigger guy especially and he couldn't look us in the eye). So, know what you are getting and maybe look for something better for the money.
To be clear - Valentine’s is NOT on the beach. With their photos, they sort of imply that they are. That being said, I would still rather stay at Valentine’s. They’re on the other side of the island from the beach and it’s about a 5-minute walk (no joke, the island is that slim). The side that Valentine’s is on sees better sunsets and is way less windy. They also have lounges and umbrellas on the beach dedicated to Valentine’s (as in the photos) so it’s not hard to claim a space. The staff are excellent and very kind. The pool os heated perfectly. The drinks at the bar are well made and the food is pretty good too! (If slightly expensive.)
Great property!
Excellent service, 1 bedroom villa was very spacious with laundry/kitchen. Great marina and service.
Great place for our family vacation
Overall enjoyed our stay but disappointed that house cleaning didn’t show up and a couple of broken things in our townhouse.
We loved our trip to Harbor Island. Valentines has a nice location, good restaurants and pool area. They also have a beach area but you really needed a golf cart to get there.Would definitely come back here.
Excellent customer service and someone checked on us everyday to see if we needed anything.
We arrived late evening with a warm welcome. The space was very clean. Location was great for our short stay.
We loved it. Friendly staff, nice modern room, very clean. It was perfect for us. We spent 2 days exploring Harbor Island and the other 3 full days we went to Eleuthera and came back at night.
Staff was great and extremely helpful, but changed rooms once because the AC was making a lot of noise at night and couldn’t get wi-fi in room. Also why are the alarms set for 6 am wake-up?! So cruel.
A beautiful Harbour Island resort with lovely well furnished villas and a great pool, gym and bar/restaurant.
Great time and the hotel rooms were very nice and clean. Concierge and front desk are certainly on island time and don’t have the American customer service attitude you might be used to here, but all the other staff are awesome!
Having the Marina and the apartment together was perfect. Very pretty grounds
Great location Nice people Clean and comfortable We stayed in a 2 bedroom/2 bath in The Andros building overlooking the pool and the marina and water in the distance
Great location, close to everything. Valentines was everything we were looking for.
It was right next to the water. The Staff was amazing
Great service and friendly staff. Perfect location -easy to walk to restaurants and beach.
I came here for my 40th birthday. Drinks and food were extremely expensive and staff was friendly I guess but I'd have to follow up with pretty much everything I ordered. Also by biggest issue was that there was rarely any hot water. I was only to get a hot shower early in the morning if I go up around 7 am and that was possible because the rooster outside of my unit started screaming every morning at 2am and didn't stop until 7am. It was impossible to sleep. After bringing it up to the front desk I only got a " oh ok"... I decided to cut my trip short due to lack of sleep and checked out a day early on my birthday. Front desk lady once again just said OK and that was it. It wasn't a good experience at all.
If I complain i would be wrong!!! The hospitality blew me away. Customer service at Valentines Harbour Island is the bomb!!! Every single person we came into contact with on the property were so warm and the sweetest personalities I've ever encountered at any hotel. I thought that the police would've had to come get me because didn't want to leave LOL... 5 STARS!!!
the hotel is very nice. One really bad experience- an employee had to have copied my credit card number- a fraudulent charge was made and reversed by the CC company. I only used that card once at check in thus that was the only place it could have been copied. Otherwise place is great.
we stayed in a two-bedroom apt that was very comfortable, clean and well equipped. I've been going to Harbour Island for almost 40 years and for me the best part about Valentine's (not including the marina) is the fact that they have clean water. No odor, not hard - but clean, potable water.
Love the location, room had everything we needed but the staff seemed absent to help with luggage up flights of stairs, towels for the pool or just cleaning the room. The pool was magical and the views were too! The food was so so the drinks were fantastic!
So good and nice people! I’d like to recommend to my friends!
Our trip was amazing! We enjoyed the island experience very much. Looking forward to a return trip.
We stayed for 4 nights from July 20-24. The staff was wonderful, especially Jada! There were a few things that bothered me about our stay. The pool is small, which we expected. No big deal since the beaches are beautiful. However, you actually have to go to the front desk in the main office to check out towels for the pools. Seriously? We came from Atlantis where they have signs posted indicating "you are on vacation-don't worry about returning your towels". If I am paying $700 a night, I don't want to have to walk to separate building to check out and return towels. Same policy with the room keys. I was charged a deposit for the room keys which was suppose to be refunded if and when I returned the keys. I returned our four keys, but the charge was never reversed. I don't think even the cheap, budget motels keep track of room keys like Valentine's does. One day all four of our room keys stopped working. Again, we had to trek back and forth to the office to get new room keys. To top things off, our unit was overrun with ants. Ants in the bathroom, ants on our nightstand, ants in the kitchen. I brought it up twice-once with the front desk and once with housekeeping but nothing was ever done. Unfortunately, our youngest insisted on sleeping in bed with us after finding ants in his bed, so we really didn't need a 2 bedroom unit after all. This property's only saving grace is its wonderful staff. They were so welcoming and friendly. We loved Harbour Island, however we won't return
rooms super clean super nice, pool is great check in was easy but check out was even easier.
The air did not work well and when they fixed it you were limited to a thermostat that was set to 74
The air was not working so we were very uncomfortable
Top notch facility; price for food and other options are very expensive compared to US. Quality of room and amenities is outstanding.
wonderful hotel in amazing place of world , very clean with friendly peoples and many amenities .
Hotel was super cute, clean and staff was great. Beaches were incredible. Hotel restaurant was exceptionally slow service. 1.5 hours to get a salad. Would recommend eating at another resort for dinner. Would stay at Valentines again.
Beautiful setting and excellent amenities. All round wonderfully relaxing stay. We'll be back!
We arrived at noon and asked for early check in. They said the room won't be free until 3 and to just leave all our bags in the lobby and they would watch them and then put them into our room. We got back to the lobby at 4 and all our stuff was still in the corner of the lobby. They didn't seem very secure. We then went to our room on the first floor and it didn't seem very clean. We had to call engineering right away because the tub water wasn't hot.
Great place to spend a great vacation with friends and family
Wonderful
Great! The pictures do not do the place justice! Rooms are big and spacious! Great tube! Location is walking distance to everything, including the dock you arrive from. Restaurant was just ok but plenty of other options around. Only thing I would recommend is having service at beach side. Sometimes there weren’t even towels. And one time they forgot to service our room.
Quick one night. Room was great. Very roomy and comfortable. Pool was great too!!
Nice clean resort. Location was great. Rented a golf cart and could travel the entire town. Beach was on the other side of the island. Had chairs, umbrella and towels for guest. Pink sand beach was beautiful!! Nice bar & restaurant overlooking the water. Rolando, the bartender was great!!! Housekeeping did a nice job as well!! Only drawback was our room didn't really have a view of the water. But overall had a very nice experience!
Great location, beautiful exterior/interior, and the people are wonderful. However, just like the rest of Harbour Island, Valentines is expensive.
This is a cool place right on the dock of a very upscale marina. You have to take a water taxi to access this hotel but they run every 15 minutes. The bar in the hotel is right on the dock. This is a lively place. The staff is very helpful. You can walk to the beach side of the island or rent a golf cart. The pool at the hotel is very nice too!
