Great views. Food at dinner and breakfast was delicious. Staff friendly. Spa facilities good.

Room was supposed to be superior but it definitely wasn’t. - there was no hot water for a bath. Called reception and they said the boiler had tripped so they’d reset it and to try again in 10 minutes. Tried again half an hour later and still freezing cold. Had to have a temperamental shower instead which kept going hot and cold. - found a huge toe nail on the bathroom floor 🤢 - at midnight someone was repeatedly trying to get in to our room. He said he was told at reception that room 212 (our room) was his. - awful nights sleep. Room too hot. Air con didn’t work. - only one hot chocolate sachet between 2 people. - cost of drinks high: 1 single disaronno and coke at Bar No.18 was £8.40!!!

The gym and pool area are exceptional with state of the art equipment

We had holes in bedroom carpet , we had problems with gaining access to the gym and lockers and the dining experience is non existent with underwhelming options to suit a four day stayi

We enjoyed being in the venue with all the facilities and the golf is absolutely stunning. The cottages are very private and comfortable. We were also a good distance for day trips in Dartmoor, the coast and Plymouth. The large parking facilities allowed us to park our boat we were towing.

Even though the cottages were dog friendly it was a bit of a difficult stay with a dog because the restaurant was not accepting dogs inside and the outside area was very small and it was not great with the mid season September weather. The restaurant was also a bit dated and not really special for the price charged. The cottages are also a bit far from everything so we ended up not using any facilities like the gym or the pool because taking the car is just a hassle I tend to avoid during holidays

The staff were very attentive and helpful. The problems lie with the amount of staffing in the restaurants. We had to wait for almost 20 minutes to get served for a drink at the bar, and, as the place was full. We then waited 45 minutes for ham, egg and chips and a curry! This was not really acceptable. There also needs to be another till at the bar as this will reduce the queues. There were three people behind the bar in Saturday at times but only one till! Hence the delays!

The staff were friendly and willing to help. The views were lovely and hotel was set in a peaceful area. We last stayed 10 yrs ago but the hotel doesn’t seem to have been updated since then so looks a bit tired. Especially in the sports bar.

Breakfast area was a bit chaotic. People complaining to each other over the wait for eggs. Food would go cold waiting for them. Menu in the brasserie was limited and difficult to book in the fine dining area as seems group bookings took priority. Room was comfortable and spacious with a lovely view but you had to pay extra for that. Was a pleasant stay but we agreed we wouldn’t return again. Best for a golfing stay.

The facilities are amazing, there is an amazing gym, swimming pool, jacuzzi, sauna and steam room. Everything is clean and well kept and the grounds are beautiful.

Restaurant facilities were such a huge downside. The tables were all sticky, I had to ask someone to clean it and even then, not much improved. There was no one to greet us, we had to find our own table, request our own cutlery and go up to the bar to order food. This is unacceptable given the cost of the restaurant - very hectic. The food itself took 1 hour to arrive and the waiters were running around, with little attention to customer service. Simiarly, the breakfast is so expensive that I found it unprofessional that we had to go up to order eggs instead of having table service. The eggs took a long time to arrive also which meant the rest of our food was cold by the time it got there. Again, if it was affordable, I could overlook this but it is quite expensive for a subpar service!

Really well appointed house in hotel grounds ,great touches which you often don't get in self-catering, like kitchen roll. So quiet at the house but really close to hotel for facilities including lovely pool. Staff very friendly and efficient. Also like self-catering in a hotel setting rather than staying somewhere which could be a local family's home.

If I am being very picky, there wasn't a mirror in the bedroom.

Reception staff not very welcoming or helpful - rushed through details of stay. Told us we could use the pool and spa but didn’t give us any information or pass to get through the security gates. Very creaky floorboards along corridors and in room.

The cottages were really spacious, clean and wonderful for the family size we had.

There could had been better explanation by staff on what is available at facility. It took 2 days to get a refill of soap in one of the bathrooms.

Breakfast you could not fault it we both really enjoyed the variety that was on offer

I wouldn’t recommend for a weekend away with your significant other. Great for a lads weekend playing golf. Breakfast was average, pool facilities etc average, rooms average (might be a booking.com error, room pictures shown on here were not the room we had on arrival). We actually left a day early because there wasn’t really much point in staying an extra night.

Great location and very picturesque. Facilities were outstanding, in particular the gym and bars and restaurants were great place to relax at the end of the day, with amazing staff who were always willing to assist.

Only one issue, didnt seem to get hot water in our room. Which wasn’t too much of an issue as we tended to go swimming at the end of each day and used showers in the changing rooms.

- Most of the staff were friendly and did their best to help. - The pool, sauna, steam room and changing facilities were nice, I appreciated the pool being a 'full size' 25M one. - The breakfast buffet was fairly good, especially when we were able to have it delivered room service.

- Of the five mornings we were there, we only had hot water for the shower once. We repeatedly informed reception who apologised and asked each time what time we'd had the shower (I think the implication being that the hot water 'runs out'). This isn't what's expected in a four star hotel. - The layout of the hotel was a nightmare for us! My wife was on crutches and can't walk more than about 50m , I'm visually impaired and find navigating new places hard at the best of times! It seemed like endless stretches of corridors and lifts that only went to certain floors so you had to backtrack up and down miles of passageways!

The indoor swimming pool was very clean, and the food served in the restaurant was good.

The walls were paper thin, so noise woke us up late at night and early in the morning, and the whole room shook whenever people walked nearby or shut doors. Housekeeping took over six hours to attend to our room after being asked at 10 am, and basic items like hotel slippers were missing from our room. We noticed that they put them in other rooms near to our room.

Nice location away from it all. Good bar area, room we had looked out onto course with a balcony. Perfect for relaxing.

Beds a little on the uncomfortable side. Decking area on balcony needs replacing as worn and tired and lifting in places.

We did like location and surrounding area, restaurant and staff was very nice and breakfast was acceptable. Room was spacious equipped with what you'd expect. We had a nice view too

The property’s setting and the venue’s general atmosphere suit a relaxing weekend, whether playing golf or having a spa.

In general, the evening food was excellent; however, I would not recommend the breakfast. We paid on the day because it was not included in our rate, £16 each. The cooked option was cold from the serving pan, and the poached eggs were like bullets. It was a disappointment, and for the price I would eat off-site. The rest of the stay was great.

Jo in reception was very professional and welcoming. Other staff, on the whole, very friendly and helpful. The hotel had a calm relaxing atmosphere.

There were no bedside tables lights in the bedroom, only the main room light. Television was extremely small and unwatchable. The exit/fire door on the first floor was locked at night. We had to request it be unlocked on the day we were leaving.

The main building is tired. Floors creaked in the room and corridor. Our bathroom tiles were lifting. The furniture is starting to look tired in our room It is mainly for golf enthusiasts to be fair

Pros: there was such a lovely staff member with the blue hair who went out of her way to give us excellent service. The rest of them were arrogant and treated us like we were going to leave without paying Oh and the pools are lovely, and the beds are very comfortable.

The hotel is really poorly managed. We had cold water in the showers on most days. For the price per night that's totally unacceptable. The kitchen "closes" early and past 8:45pm they will not even give you breadcrumbs if you ask for them. So if you go for dinner and want to add a dessert later... Nope, sorry the kitchen is closed. They make people pay for their meals while you order the food at the table. Some of the staff were really incredible, while others were absolutely awful. They need to learn and understand hospitality and courtesy. It's supposed to be a high class hotel but the rooms were not cleaned very well and needed maintenance. We arrived with 5 suitcases in a big group after driving over 6 hours and not a single staff member helped with luggage. I would certainly not recommend staying here!

No fridge in room long way away from anything so once yiure there youre stuck and a bit pricey .Tv in room too small for room .Could do better re room for price paid.Originally put in a disabled room and even that diddnt have a fridge so no thought for storage of medicines ect if required.

It’s not that I don’t like anything , I just thought for a place of this standard it could have done with better outside facilities for enjoying the weather . Some nice tables and chairs , parasols etc would have been nice , but all there was were some plastic style chairs and wooden benches you would expect to see in a pub garden .

Leisure facilities , Fitness and swimming pool. The Nicklaus golf course is simply amazing.

I had some guests who joined us at the An Boesti restaurant for a special birthday occasion. Having rang the hotel twice to reserve a table by the window. On arrival they had laid out a table for 5 separated from the main restaurant by a screen. After a conversation I managed to change the table to a circular one by the window as my original request. In addition when it came to pay for the meal I had explained that I registered my credit card with reception on arrival for any payments. I was informed this has not been completed, I had to walk to reception from the restaurant to sort out the issue myself only to find the card had been registered afterall. I then returned to the restaurant to pay for the meal; while my guests waiting to depart. Very embarrassing.

Breakfast was very good. The room was great - it was clean, quiet, with comfortable beds, lovely views, and the air con worked well. The room was larger than expected, the bathroom was large too. The golf course and setting was beautiful.

Breakfast was terrible, very bad quality for the price.

We travelled a long way to play the golf course, from the Netherlands. The management on the golf flights and tee times meant that we were being pressurised by the players behind us. This was caused by poor planning as the Caddy Master put our flights of four players between flights of two players. This can never work and they know this, but they just don't care. The whole experience on the course was irritating and it ruined or golfing day.

The parking was a challenge, especially when competing with health club and golf club visitors. The parking nearest the hotel should be designated for hotel users only and there needs to be clear signage to the overflow car parks

we arrived late to our accommodation and presented with an assistance room which we had not requested. When asked if we could have a slightly later check out this was declined. when attempting to take a shower there was no hot water and upon telephoning reception we were told that they had been having problems with the boiler and they would go and re-set it . this we were informed would take approx 20mins. We waited the requested time however the water was only luke warm which would suggest that the boiler had been turned off for the night and turned back on as by the morning the water was considerably warmer and of a comfortable temperature. The wet room floor became flooded in water while having a shower and did not drain away therefore the floor remained wet each time we visited the toilet flagging up a safety hazard. the shower head had clearly not been cleaned as there was mould which photographs were taken before I manually wiped some of it off with tissue paper and flagging up a health issue. the overall cleanliness of the room was very poor clearly showing signs that it had not recently been cleaned

The bar area wasn’t big enough, we had to stand . Breakfast was awkward. You had to order eggs, but help yourself to the rest of the hot breakfast. They ran out of several items. The staff genuinely looked stressed and had little time to help or assist The pro shop stocks no female clothing!!

We chose this hotel as we were visiting friends nearby. Excellent location and well kept golf course. Our room overlooked the car park but it was quiet and did not keep us awake. Basic room in need of redecoration, we were allocated disabled access shower room although not requested. It was larger than average for that reason, the shower was difficult to regulate and the handle kept coming loose. We arrived when the weather was over 30 degrees and as soon as we came into the room we spotted a pedestal fan. The air con in that area was not working which meant night temperatures were unbearable. Breakfast was good with lots of choice cereals and fruit and hot food. Staff very friendly and helpful. We enjoyed the swimming pool and went before breakfast so not too busy and no wait for showers.

Everything was amazing

Spacious and very comfortable room with patio overlooking the 18th green. Dining options were ideal with the choice of formal restaurant, brasserie or casual bar each with access to all menus. Although we were not there for golf we enjoyed the views over the course and found the location was perfect for our exploration of the nearby Devon and Cornwall coasts .

It's just 'ok'. Food is pretty terrible. It's a golf hotel so maybe the golfers are happy but as a hotel guest it is really starting to fall behind everyone else. Unless you really need to be here I would recommend elsewhere. I am sure when it opened it looked amazing but now the carpets are worn, rooms looking worn...food is awful. did I mention the food? Young staff never seem particularly pleased that there are guests to attend to. Breakfast overpriced and underwhelming.

Could definitely benefit from a little maintenance of the mouldy silicone around bath /floor and just a little tidy up in bathroom in rooms . Jacuzzi could do with being a bit hotter in the spa. Other than that it’s a great place

No buggies on Nicklaus course, paths only resulting in walking further. Floorboards creaked everywhere, corridors, rooms, balcony. Bedside lamp did not work. Carpets torn and dirty throughout the hotel, corridors, room etc. Tired and dated room. No smart TV. No proper coffee machine, just a kettle and sachets. Full English buffet was cold despite 7.10am. Eggs, bacon, sausages all watery. Paid extra £100 for balcony room, only to find you cannot smoke out there. Rooms far too expensive for what they are, not a 4 star. Superior room no different to standard room apart from price and useless balcony.

Beautiful location, the room was very spacious with lovely views across the countryside. We enjoyed sitting on the balcony and watching the geese. We had everything we needed for an overnight stay, also made use of access to the spa facilities

Sorry for the delay of our review, myself and finance stayed here for one night to celebrate 20 years together and what an amazing time we had, would like to say a huge thank you , as when we arrived and checked into our room we had a lovely card from the staff and petals on the bed , we used the pool and jacuzzi on the day we arrived and on departure, we thoroughly enjoyed our time there.
