InterContinental Lijiang Ancient Town Resort by IHG

The rooms were very spacious, clean, quiet. Staff were amazing and very helpful. Nancy from front desk was exceptional, she noticed that our child was having his birthday during our stay and organised a small cake. It really made our day! Nancy was also very thoughtful about our room configuration as we had a big family. Andy also helped us organise a tour and went above and beyond to make it happen! Unbelievable staff! The resort was immaculate! Breakfast was so good! Location was super close to old town.

I was particularly impressed with the staff and their professional nature and how went out of their way to help me. Firstly, Julie at the front desk, not only helped me get the room I desired, but she stayed late to help me personally. I asked if anyone that spoke English could help me and she said she would be happy to help me with my issue after she finished her work. I lost my debit card and realized I probably forgot to get it out of an ATM machine back in Kunming. First she called the ICBC bank and got the number of the bank that I lost my card at. Then, the next day, she called and confrimed that they had my card and she found out the bank address and working hours, so I could go back and get it. She also guided me to how I could get snacks for my big Tiger Leaping Gorge hike. She was amazing. Secondly, Deft, one of the Concierge staff, helped me find a private taxi driver to stay with me the whole day and drive me from the Intercontinental Hotel in Lijiang to the Tiger Leaping Gorge trailhead, then meet me at Tina's Guesthouse, then drive me to my hotel in Shangri La. Deft formed a WeChat group with him, the criver, and myself after arranging the car date and time and explaining to the driver where I wanted to be dropped off and then picked up. The driver he found was experienced with the Tiger Leaping Gorge trailheads and also spoke English enough to help me all day. Deft also met me the next morning when I met the driver and facilitated an easy pickup. It was amazing service that the hotel provided.

Environment super nice. The view from the cafe and the restaurant is prefect same as the photo. Value to money

The service is top notch. The front desk and the concierge would do everything to make sure your stay is pleasant and convenient. Special thanks to Nancy who booked wild mushroom peaking experience for us which was the high light of the trip. The location can not be better. You can see the famous snow mountain from the lobby. It’s also situated by the edge of lijiang ancient town, also has 2 gates lead to inside of the ancient town as well, it’s super convenient. It’s like an oasis in the middle of a buzzing city. The whole resort and the rooms are exquisitely designed. The beautiful site itself worth to spend sometime to walk around.

I was told the resort was established in 2019, it feels it stays at 2019. Don’t want to sound like having a third world problem, but I can’t remember the last time I stayed in a hotel where I have to put the room card in to get electricity. There are 3 “master switches” located different part of the room where you have to physically go around to switch off all the lights. The room facilities are way overdue for a modern upgrade. The breakfast is very disappointing for an IHG hotel. It lacked of overall variety, food freshness and the presentation is messy, food sauce leaked everywhere on the table. Also there is no order for getting freshly made food like noodles. People just walk everywhere and no queue. Also the breakfast is not included in the room price feels pity. Even the hotel we stayed in Chengdu airport has more modern room facilities and amazing breakfast. And it was waaaaaaay cheaper.

Grosses Zimmer im ersten Stock mit direktem Blick auf den Jade Dragon Snow Mountain. Grosse ruhige Hotelanlage in der man trotz der unmittelbaren Nähe zur touristischen Altstadt Ruhe geniessen kann. Eigener gesicherter Hinterausgang des Hotels mit direktem Zugang zur Altstadt. Grosses reichhaltiges Frühstücksbuffet was sowohl lokale Spezialitäten anbietet wie die Yunnan Small Pot Rice Noodles, als auch westliche Optionen.

Die Kleiderschränke im Zimmer dürften gerne mal erneuert werden, ohne dass sich das mit dem traditionellen Stil des Zimmers widersprechen würde. Schubladen liessen sich teilweise schwer bedienen und das Holz war teilweise schon in Mitleidenschaft gezogen.

Amazing location. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Special mention to Simon who was already in contact with me 1 month before my stay to ensure everything is ready when we arrived. Very attentive.

We love the amenities, the breakfast, the cuisine, the carts that help us reach our rooms, the staff are friendly and accommodating especially Catherine who has been helpful from the very beginning. She has been very informative too. The location is in the ancient town so its easy to visit the town. The rooms are spacious and very clean and give a "home" vibe". I would love to stay there again.

Style of the property and the access to the old town were excellent. The staff were overall helpful, and Catherine from guest services on WeChat was super helpful and responsive to requests and questions which made our stay easy and stress free.

The check in process, like all hotels in China, is a drag. This should take less time.

very late in processing check in..i ve arrived after check in time.. around 3 pm ..i booked 2 rooms...the gave me 1 room and the other they process very slow..i have to push to them...more than 4 pm .finally .they gave me the other room..this was very dissapointing...eventhough Catherine who connected me in wechat..already try to recovery me ..she offered drinks in the evening and gave some small souvenir..but from my experience..this is the slowest check in ever in the 5 star hotel..i ve to call and remind 3 times..and always answered ..please wait 5 minutes..5 minutes..but actually a lot more than 5 minutes..this is need improvement

The location is in Lijiang old town, so perfect. The breakfast was also amazing.

Location was great in Ancient Town which is amzing Room servicing person was fantastic. Breakfast was really good excellent variety. We had dinner at the Asian style restaurant twice and both times food and service was fantastic. Service from the staff also top standard.

One small gripe - heated pool and Gym were closed for maintenance when we arrived and we hadn't been advised before. Wasn't a big deal though and they immediately offered some complimentaries and apologised.

Beautiful interiors, exceptional staff service, amazing breakfast (love the soy milk machine). I’ve stayed here three times and definitely will be back again.

Location perfect walking distance to old town and right beside the local market. Facilities and views from the hotel were exceptional. Staff were incredibly friendly and helpful with organising activities. Highly recommend and great value for money

Good location within the ancient town. We got upgraded to the premium room with a nice view of ancient town.The breakfast spread is incredible.

We were able to ask for different kinds of pillows which was unique. The transportation service to get around the hotel was also very useful and the staff operating that was great. Security was also very on top of everything. Room was large and the bathroom facilities were great. Location was right in the middle of the ancient city which made getting around very easy.

The front desk staff were not so great, we spoke English and they hung up on us the first time. They also did not listen to what we had requested and didn't answer our questions correctly or ask us to clarify our questions either.

Great hotel with exceptional staff, stunning views, and a brilliant location. The hotel enjoys a fantastic setting, with private access to the Ancient Town — a huge advantage. It’s surrounded by countless restaurants, bars, and services, yet somehow manages to remain peaceful and calm, offering the best of both worlds. The staff are warm, welcoming, and speak very good English, which made communication easy and pleasant. The building quality is outstanding, and you can feel the attention to detail in its design and maintenance. The hotel’s restaurant is another highlight. While we tried several local restaurants in the area, we always found ourselves coming back to dine at the hotel. The food is fresh, clean, and delicious — simply the best we had in weeks of traveling around Yunnan. Even on rainy days, the hotel keeps guests engaged with a variety of activities, which we really appreciated. There’s also a wonderful kids’ area that kept our little one entertained, making it an excellent choice for families. Another highlight is the setting for photos — the hotel’s design and backdrop make it a perfect spot for photography, adding an extra touch to the experience.

We did have a rough start to our stay. On the first day, the AC in our suite wasn’t working, which was a real issue since the room only had windows on one side and no cross-ventilation. After a five-hour drive, we were already exhausted, so it was especially frustrating to walk into a room that was uncomfortably warm. It seemed like the AC problem had existed for a while, as the room was already hot when we arrived. When the staff came to check, their reaction felt somewhat dismissive — as if 25°C wasn’t a big deal. While I understand that many locals are more tolerant of warmer temperatures, as guests we found it uncomfortable, and the lack of urgency was disappointing at the time. Later, they moved us to a larger estate. While we still felt the original suite had a better location and more thoughtful design details, we decided not to fuss over it — after the hassle with the AC, we just didn’t want to move again. The F&B staff are warm and welcoming. However, if you choose to sit outside, the service may not be as attentive as indoors. On one occasion, no one realized we were still dining outside, and they began closing the indoor area before noticing there was still a table occupied outdoors.

The receptionist was not as helpful or informative . They did not inform us about the photography promotionn. It was in the day we were about to leave that we found out about it through other guests . They also didn’t seem very friendly or forthcoming in being helpful .

The location of the hotel is good, close to Ancient Town and cars can stop outside of the hotel (some hotels inside the Ancient Town are not accessible by cars). The view from the room's balcony is amazing, we sat on the bed and could see the night view of the ancient town. Hotel restaurant has a very good view of the ancient town as well. It's amazing to have dinner and breakfast appreciating the view. A lot of choices for breakfast. Staff of the hotel are good mannered and provide nice service.

Literally everything was PERFECTION! Staying here is like getting transported to a fairy tale. Moreover, I’ve visited Amandayan hotel to compare the two hotels and i have to say the intercontinental is much nicer in every single aspect

The location - our room was just a minute into ancient city and into ZhongYi market. The room - good and spacious and a sliding door to separate living area and bedroom. The compound - very tranquil and fantastic landscaping. The architecture - beautiful. The staff - very friendly and helpful from housekeeping to buggy staff to front desk.

Nothing - oh maybe the scent of the hand soap, shower gel etc. Apparently is a luxurious brand but we just find the scent too strong for our liking - but this is very personal. i think most would think highly of it.

The hotel is massive, rooms are far from restaurants, and lobby. You need to call a buggy to bring you there. Ride is 5 minutes away however just something to consider.

a nice hotel with good location. but it does not match up the level of its competitors. not really good services. 服务在丽江算比较差的，住了两家好的，这家真的就基本没服务。第二天我要去爬山半夜看到说要准备一个口罩，可能会扬尘，然后我早上等车的时候问了前台，前台头都没抬，说我们不停供。 问题是他们前台自己都有人带着口罩。 不提供也没关系，但是态度是真的不好。 酒店的位置和硬件都算不错的，但是服务真的是拉胯
