Perfectly good basic hotel The bed is comfy and room is warm. Loved the open fire in the bar, restaurant. Staff are great and friendly.

Excellent customer service, accommodation was great. Only the heater in our room was a bit low. Food was great and the staff were really friendly and helpful. Looking forward to another stay.

There was a little pub there with pool tables and a big open fire. Great meals. Inexpensive

The room was clean and well appointed. It had everything we needed although TV viewing was very limited in choice.

Access to our room was across very wet grass (in the rain). The building could do with a verandah outside the sliding doors to offer protection. The restaurant food was very average and the "Roast of the Day" needs to be reworded to "Pork Steak (1 thick slab) on potatoes, kumara and pumpkin (not a green in sight)." It is not what most people believe they are ordering. I need to remember to avoid this another time.

An old style motel room - clean, quiet and comfortable overlooking green grassy paddocks. An excellent meal in the hotel dining room . Friendly staff. We would stay here again.

All the staff were amazing. The front desk team were welcoming, and knowledgeable. The food was wonderful, from breakfast to dinner, and the bar staff were incredibly friendly. A special mention goes to Rob, who is an absolute legend! This trip was a much-needed short break from the madness, and it turned out to be even better than we expected. Everything was perfect, and we couldn't have asked for a more relaxing stay. I highly recommend this place to anyone stopping over in Haast. We would definitely stay here again!

i was very appreciative that the hotel allowed me to travel with my dog in one of the dog friendly rooms. they provided a dog bed and dog bowls, even a dog treat. I was able to buy dinner at restaurant and take back to my room which was great. all the staff were lovely and sympathetic of how tired i was from driving.

Nothing, the hotel has been around for some time and it ios a much older style so don't go here expecting 4 or more star perfect rooms and facilities, but as I say it is a good honest place with great staff for our visit.

It was perfect overnight stop on our journey. Check in was easy and having a restaurant was very handy!

My room was freezing! No instructions given on how to adjust heating in room and the temperature dipped overnight and our room was extremely cold in the morning. Rooms are clean but quite dated. Could do with a freshen up. No refrigerator in room either.

Room was nice, quiet, warm and comfy. Restaurant and bar open with good beer and snacks. Kettle in the room and tea/coffee.

Very comfortable rooms, close to highway but no noise .proximity to hotel section for meals was great but again no noise transfer.

Could not park close to the room. Twenty or thirty metres is significant when you have heavy bags.

Please note that there is no refrigerator in the rooms; the fridge is shared and available for public use.

Smelt like sewage, corners not clean, tv didn't work very well, only 2 ordinary coffee sachets, property is tired looking and needs refurbished

Cleanliness in rooms, restaurant, toilets. Clearer signage ie said reception but not Heartland Hotel reception. I was overcharged for breakfast

No electric blankets, even though I had paid, given my bank card details, shown drivers license, when I went to restaurant I had to leave my card behind bar, to run a tab for meal & drinks, not the kind of friendly West Coast service I am used to, fridge was noisey in room all night

Great location as we wanted to break up our trip from home to the west coast. Very good price for a nights stay if you are just wanting a room for the night. The restaurant and bar on-site was also very good.

Room was fairly basic but tidy and clean. No fridge in room which would have been useful. Not many TV channels but that was probably reflected in the price as well.

The sight of the hotel was most welcome after driving the curvy roads on the west coast of New Zealand. It is an older motel, but its welcome was warm (complete with blazing fire in the restaurant fireplace). Our room was quite clean and looked to have been recently painted, although there was no odor. The restaurant was warm and the food excellent. Both our supper and breakfast were tasty and filling.

Better lighted signage would have been welcome, or more of it as we approached the turn. This seems to be an issue country wide, and I get it. Lights would interfere with stargazing and signs obstruct views. But even a small sign indicating the upcoming turn would be most helpful.

Location was good. Shower had really good water pressure.

Room was very cold. Heating felt non existent as was just a radiator that was underpowered.

With limited accomodation in Haast it was a great find. The property was a bit tired however the room itself was nice enough and whatnot lacked in modernisation it made up for in thoughtful touches, such as hand and body lotion, a hot water bottle and a really good old school heater. They also had a great restaurant, I had venison pot pie and it was delicious.

The pillows ! They were terrible - the bed wasn’t great but the pillows were just horrible so I had a really bad sleep. There were two beds though so we don’t have to roll together .

Breakfast and evening meal were excellent and the staff very friendly and helpful.

It was all we needed.

I had a great overnight stay at the Heartland Haast Hotel. It’s an older hotel but the rooms are cosy, clean, quiet and functional. The beds and pillows were very comfortable. The staff are a great credit to the hotel, everyone I encountered was fantastic. It was remiss of me not to get their names but the lady on reception when I checked-in/checked-out was lovely and helpful. The bar and restaurant staff are also fantastic. The restaurant has a lovely cosy atmosphere this time of year with a fireplace.

Great value - good to have everything on site. Room and view were excellent.

The view from our room across the green paddocks was idyllic, particularly with the cattle grazing. Fridge didn't have a freezer to refreeze our ice pads but reception very kindly took them to refreeze. Restaurant was adequate, food was tasty. The bed was very comfy and warm.

With limited cups and glasses, we did our own dishes but there's no teatowel to dry them. Shocked that a whitebait meal was $50 when a whitebait sandwich down the road was $18.00.
