Excellent breakfast. Fast service. Polite staff.
There was very little hot water in the bathroom. Otherwise excellent stay.
Staff and location
Bath was not clean on arrival, plus bathroom Tired
The breakfasts were good, however tea/coffee were provided by flasks. (The sort commonly used for meetings) As a result they were warm rather than hot. The coffee was not good quality unlike that provided in the bar.
As above
The location was good Bedroom clean
The fact the restaurant was not open due to maintenance work no other food was offered but a suggestion of plenty of restaurants nearby was offered. The next day we were told we could have ordered food from the bar to eat. The breakfast was okay but not great. Basically told to leave the bar area we were drinking coffees because they had closed even though we were stopping in the hotel
Didnt have breakfast location was good
Nothing
It was convenient for the ferry port and accepts dogs. Some of the staff were very nice some rather off hand, like they were doing us a favour
Didn't answer email queries before hand. Very hot room with uncomfortable pillows
It was in a good location
The stairs are hard with cases.
Perfect location. Breakfast superb. Lots of choice. Staff friendly and helpful
Fantastic location, right by the harbour. Staff were friendly and helpful.
Decor was a little tired (although it was clean), I understand they’re in the middle of a renovation. Walls were scuffed, chairs stained, bathroom mirror/sink were stained.
We like the quaintness of the Antelope, we are old and we anchor after the past so this place suits us well
Great location right in the heart of Poole.
Felt very old and tired.
Breakfast was okay
Room was dirty, bathroom was disgusting, only one towel for two people, good job it was only one night , couldn’t wait to get out of there.
The hotel and staff are lovely & most rooms are lovely too. A few of us went for a festival. Was a great location on the harbour. The breakfast was included & the food was amazing, nothing we asked for was any trouble. We will stay again but will ask for specific rooms, our friends had a fantastic one! I left a dress & someone kindly posted it back to me which is kind!
Was sad about our room. The bed was terrible but we did report it to reception on leaving so they could replace it, had a massive dip through the middle & not the way 2 singles would go together! Sadly as it is an old building there was no aircon & was a room facing the front which is sunny & noisy, the little fan didn't do anything to help us in the crazy heat! The bath was dirty with hair but to be honest i've stayed in worse, we were just gutted as had booked it the previous year so was expecting better!
Great location ✨️ for a restful night and great evening meal before catching early morning ferry ✨️
Great location and superb for guests staying with dogs.
Nothing
How close it was to all amenities. Friendly staff, clean rooms,, nice food
Not used to seeing dogs in hotels.
Breakfast excellent. Friendly welcome.
Needs a refurb. Feels very dated in the rooms. Bathroom in the family room had no way to shut the door. No way to open the window or ever to see out of the window.
Location was great
Location near by parking good breakfast, all ok for a nights stay
Rooms are very tired good do with a refurbishment
Comfortable, friendly staff especially the morning staff at breakfast. Nice atmosphere
Nothing not to like
Lekker ontbijt, ruime keuze. Personeel erg vriendelijk.
Very good breakfast. Good choice. Love the way the interior has been maintained to keep the historic features and the exposed brickwork. Old but not dated.
Coffee was not great. Oat milk sachets took so many to get the right amount in the coffee. Bathroom door wouldn’t stay closed. A ‘pothole’ in mattress meant I could feel the spring.
Very good twin bedded room with sitting area.
Good hotel good location nice brekki and pub attached good place to start your evening
X
Central location. The receptionist was really helpful providing me with a charger for my phone. The croissants at breakfast were excellent.
The endless flights of stairs to get to my room. No air conditioning but a fan was provided. I wouldn’t want to stay there in hot weather as I had to leave the window open and my room faded the street.
Friendly, good location, comfy bed.
Locality, breakfast was brilliant
Room was a bit dark and needed updating
Very clean. Close to ferry.
No access to wifi.
Location just by the quay with all the lovely restaurants
It wasn’t a problem last night .. but without air con on a really hot night would have been difficult. But how often do we get nights like that.
Very clean, close to the lively bars
Nothing
Great location and super comfy bed and room Very quiet
The whole atmosphere - old building, old harbour, lovely friendly and helpful staff.
It was very hot, so the room was a little too stuffy
Location
Bathroom could do with an upgrade
Great location, just off the main road, but within a two minute walk Take the Breakfast option as great selection of continental bits and lovely full English

Old Poole
No hot water in the morning
Rien
Location was good.
No hot water both Friday evening or Saturday morning! Very noisy from beer garden of pub next door and from other guests running up and down the corridor outside our room and then arguing right outside the door at 2.45am! No staff present when we checked out on Saturday morning to report this to. Spoilt an otherwise great few days break!
Close to the harbour, convenient, good breakfast.
No separate shower.
A great location
The room is very tired & shabby. The bathroom has mould and needs a good paint to freshen it up
Location was excellent Close to shops and the festival
Was too warm due to the hot weather currently experiencing
Near to the harbour

Good room, really nice and helpful staff, great food and drink
Very friendly & helpful staff, very comfortable bed.
Communal carpets need replacing throughout. Bathroom taps etc too old & stained for them to be cleaned properly
A nice hotel with very friendly staff in a classic English style. The building is not new, the room is simple, but clean and comfortable. All the amenities, hot water, Wi-Fi, a comfortable bed and pillows. The location is right in the city center. The hotel itself has a wonderful pub, delicious breakfasts, and a wonderful signature pie. Thank you, I had a wonderful time.
Location great,stark great.
Could open the windows fully .
Staff lovely breakfast was great value for money. Location was great.
Room 12 was very hot no veneration. Could not sleep to hot and only a small fan it does nothing. No lift and had to take luggage up to floor 2 alone
I loved the locational of this hotel and they have a lovely outside and inside area.
Travelling with my medical alert dog and I struggled with getting my suitcase up and down the stairs.
The location , only a minute from Poole harbour
Not there fault but parking large vehicles is a problem
Our second time staying as really close to the quay and town. It's a really nice and cosy pub with a big beer garden
Although the hotel building is old with a lot of interesting history, there is a feeling of generous space. The bedroom was attractively furnished , very clean and comfortable . Everything in the bathroom was easy to use. A lot of thought has gone into furnishing each part of the hotel. The breakfast was lovely.
Nothing
location was great rooms comfortable whilst decor dated this would not deter us from staying again plenty of choice re eateries
Decor could tidied (did not impact stay) Parking is extra £15.00 per day
Location and bed
No air con - which fine but windows only opened a crack in the bedroom and not at all in the bathroom. With an east facing room it got boiling hot by 8am.
Good location for ferry, nice hotel with outdoor facilities and with lots of character.
Location and breakfast

Great location - very central
Too hot but it is an old building so no AC
Excellent breakfast. Especially liked the opportunity to make a proper POT of tea - this is rarely offered these days.
Nothing could have been better.
Location was good ,nice and quiet on a night ,staff were pleasant and helpful
Lovely old building - stepping into history
A bit shabby - room needed refreshing
Great location for night out in Poole.
Room was fine but very hot. Shower leaking all over floor had to mop up. Mould on tiles. Only one set of towels for two people. Breakfast average. Sausages were just luke warm. Not worth the £160 we paid.
Toast and cereal ok don’t eat much
We don’t eat much so toast and cereal okit was ok for a stop off
It’s in a great location and it has lots of character. 1 member of staff was lovely.
The bed was comfy, but the room was small, very old & tired and very hot. A fan that actually worked would have helped a bit.
The staff was excellent. Very friendly and very quick to help or answer questions
The pillows were very hard.
Great location. Nice garden. Staff curtious
Nothing
Located in the heart of Poole, spotlessly clean, comfy bed and a great breakfast, friendly helpful staff.
Position re quay and shops
No air con in bedroom. Difficulty finding it in car. Would like bettet instructions on how to get to cinnamon street.
what happened to the continental breakfast? No cheese! No meat!
Great location, lovely garden area, very good breakfast choices
Room small and did not have enough space/ furniture to put things on or in.
Couldn't fault anything. The shower was amazing, in normal hotels you have to run around to get wet, not the antipope.... A PROPER shower, like being in a human jet wash. The bed was a good firm and good height. They've done a good job with such an old building, the room had character was clean, comfortable and of a good size. Service was great (ask and it happens). All in all a good honest place. If you're looking for a mini bar and Aircon to sit in your room for your stay try somewhere else but if you are going away to have fun, enjoy yourselves in a great location.... The antipope is fantastic
Tbh.... It's a green king pub... Only abbot and IPA on offer for us beer drinkers, perhaps a guest beer would be nice. That said the beer was in good condition and good value for the area.
Nice comfortable room close to everything. Great staff in a good pub.
checking out
Hotel stays are "supposed" to be an enjoyable experience, if like us you expect a certain standard then the Antelope is NOT for you. We stayed during the warm weather, it was 27C in Poole so not heat wave temps, it was nice and cool in reception, walk up the stairs to the hotel rooms and you experience a whole new meaning of "sauna" we stayed in room 17, we got to our room at 7pm and could not believe how stiflingly hot it was, it was like standing in front of a hot oven with the door open, we were provided with 1 small table fan, the windows opened about 10 inches, it was unbearably hot in there, uninhabitable! we asked reception for another fan but were told they didn't have any more, it was 1 fan to each room, to make matters worse the shower didn't work either, no hot water which on reading some of these reviews appears to have been a problem for a while, we went out and came back at 11pm hoping the room would have cooled down, sadly not, it was one of the worst nights sleep I have had and we paid over £120 for the pleasure, in the morning I spoke to the hotel manager, TBH I shouldn't have bothered because he did not care less, not interested, more interested in telling me how hot he was and how difficult his job was LOL, just to ad salt to the wounds we were disturbed at 7.30am by building work going on outside our bedroom window LOL you really could not make this stuff up, no mention of building work in their adverts tho, we were booked to stay a 2nd night but checked out at 9am, I would not let a dog sleep in that room let alone a paying customer and The Antelope & Greene King do not care, they just want your money and thats it, customer service is non existent, ironically they have a big black board in the outside area stating that they want customers to leave good reviews on trip advisor and if they have a problem to speak to them first so they can fix it LOL thats a joke in itself, they do not care!
Didn’t have breakfast
Amazing staff - super friendly, 10/10 Made the stay feel that bit extra Even went the extra mile to look after my dog
Being picky - a shower would of been preferred but not worth moaning over when everything else was fantastic
Craig went above and beyond, makes such a difference when you have that one member of staff who is worth his weight in gold
Loved it all
Perfectly situated as we had just returned from France on the ferry at 9.45pm
Not enough towels in the room.
It was in the town centre of Poole.
There was a persistent musty smell in the room, and the window did not open for more than 4 inches. The warm water in the shower worked for a few minutes in the evening, and didn't work at all in the morning no matter what we tried. There was no mini bar/ small fridge in the room in July. Obviously, no air conditioning, just a small fan (not the main problem). We paid the price for a proper hotel room, but this one was old and run down.
The Antelope is a decent place to stay
Being charged twice for changing the booking, still arguing with booking.com to get a refund a month later
Location was perfect and staff very friendly and helpful. We only stayed for 1 night but we will go back.
How close it was to shops and quey. Food. Service
Great location and friendly informative staff.
Nothing
Great location with good bar, outside seating and large restaurant. Very comfortable room, no noise and large bathroom.
Would be good to have info on the website about how to approach by car and that the high street is closed to vehicles between 10am and 10pm.
Very welcoming homely pub , in excellent position.staff very friendly & helpful.
Sat outside in the beer garden which was lovely but one thing we didn’t like was the smell of the rubbish/recycling bins . Apart from That not much to dislike.
The staff were all so friendly, nothing was too much trouble 10 out of 10 for the team
rooms were clean, comfortable bed but really need an upgrade
Staff were great. Really helpful and friendly
Clean comfortable room, with good facilities. Nice welcome with friendly staff throughout. Good location set in the old town with plenty of choices around for everyone's tastes.
No air-conditioning, please consider if possible. Our stay was during the very period and only a fan and restricted window opening didn't make for the best night's sleep. Very good breakfast again with plenty of choice.
Location brilliant, breakfast excellent.
Lack of air conditioning
Great location, very friendly and helpful staff.
Room 8 - no shower or, hair washing facility despite being a very nice bathroom.
Receptionist friendly and knowledgeable, the barmaid went beyond expectations in hospitality. The chef who cooked our meal on Wednesday night deserves a medal not just the quality of food and freshness of the salad, really crisp and crunchy but for working at all in extreme heat.
Enamel bath was chipped and shower curtain wasn't really clean. I understand that the temperature was really high and an old building, so in future I'll be looking for accommodation with air conditioning
Location
It was very hot and couldn’t open the windows enough to make a difference
Our room was over the pub and it was a lot of fun to stay over a pub. It overlooked the high street and that was fun. It was fun to go down to the pub and have a drink and food and then take our beverages upstairs to our room. We watched half of a world cup game in the pub then went upstairs to watch the rest and that was a lot of fun. The room was really large and that was great also.
The only thing was that they had made up the couch into a bed along with our bed and that didn't make sense since there were only two of us. But we just closed it up back into a couch and it was fine.
The staff were really friendly and helpful, especially the man on reception.I dont know his name but he really works hard in all areas of the hotel. The room was good and bed very comfortable.I do think the bathroom needs updating, especially with the cost of the room not being cheap. The location is brilliant, right near the Quay and not far to the shops snd restaurants.Breakfast was very very good!
The bathroom is very tired and needs updating.
All 4 staff we interacted with were very friendly and helpful Fabulous location for ferry - easy 20 minute walk with luggage Food good
Rooms rather tired
