Room too hot
Breakfast was the highlight. The bed was clean and comfortable.
Hotel is very tired looking. Needs a major refurb. The ceiling in our room was peeling. The curtains were stained. We found it difficult to find our room. The numbering didn’t match the key ! We met 5 staff in total. 3 were positively dour. 2 were friendly.
We loved staying here it was quiet and very relaxing!! Staff were awesome and took good care of us. The food was great and we had dinner one night. I had a wonderful day at the Spa with a great deep tissue massage by a lovely lady, sorry I forgot her name it was a lovely stay
The Jacuzzi could have been warmer
Friendly helpful staff. Clean and comfortable room.

Beautiful hotel in lovely quiet setting. Good selection of continental and cooked breakfast. Rooms were spacious and beautifully clean.
I ordered a medium-rare steak on our first evening. The steak was so thin that it would have been impossible to cook it medium, let alone medium-rare. This was very disappointing. Needless to say we opted for dinner elsewhere.
Breakfast was very good and great choice on the menu. Staff nice and polite.
Our family room was a huge let down... It looked partially refurbished and never finished: new carpet but dirty walls, new bathroom but kept old floor. One of the windows was fully cracked. There was a hole on the door that was never repaired. Sink was blocked. Layers of cobwebs so big that were simply impossible to miss if the room was cleaned properly. Silverfish in one of the beds. I did receive an apology from the reception staff and was told that all family rooms are the same. Unfortunately there was no manager available to talk to, neither was I offered a phone call to follow up on my comments. Clean room is a basic requirement and expectation especially when you pay high hotel prices. Considering how many good reviews this hotel gets, which was the reason for my booking, it's an awful shame we cannot share similar.
Ottimo! Personale gentile. Colazione super! Ve lo consiglio assolutamente
Fabulous property In a quiet location. Rooms were lovely and bed very comfortable. Breakfast was beautiful.

Beautiful Historical hotel
Beautiful old property in Lovely area. Breakfast was lovely, a great selection, but be prepared to wait on anything cooked.
While our room had a new bathroom, the room itself could do with a little TLC. Marks over the walls and celing where work had obviously been done, but a good coat of paint would sort. Glass panel in the window cracked. The beds wernt the most comfortable.
Beautiful, elegant ( apart from the black and white decor of the restaurant), calm.
Haha, black and white restaurant- clashes with the rest of the place.
Really enjoyed stay. Hotel staff were excellent, very friendly. Particular mention for Kristian in The Terrace Restaurant who was very pleasant, friendly and professional. Would definitely stay again.
Nothing worth mentioning.
Great location, excellent breakfast , friendly helpful staff
All good
It was a beautiful place, quiet, nice surroundings. We were especially impressed by members of the staff. Namely, Edele, the restaurant manager who went above and beyond to help. Then, the reception staff who were polite, friendly, and helpful. Bohdan was such a lovely young man, helpful and concerned for our comfort. Definitely would recommend.
Minor problem with the TV, which Bohdan went to great lengths to address. Everything else was perfect.
Location perfect! Hotel very clean and comfortable ! Food in restaurant delicious not to mention breakfast ! Such a great selection and hot breakfast cooked. Fresh to order We have stayed here in several occasions and find it so relaxing
Beautiful interior communal areas and very welcoming staff both on reception and in the restaurant. The room was very comfortable and clean and luxurious. Nice soaps and shampoos and washes in the bathroom. When I had to leave early because my mother was ill I was given a reduction in the price of the meal we were eating which was incredibly kind. We had Powerscourt on our doorstep and the Powerscourt waterfall was stunning. We can’t wait to stay at Summerhill House again sometime soon
Nothing!
Food and location
Location was beautiful - location, location, location
the room is a little tired looking - bathroom was dull and tired looking
Close to Powerscourt golf club. Hardly anyone there so no problem with booking in or out
Has been refurbed but rooms are soulless and mixed furnishings. Tiny sink and loo. Not enough shelving. No view from high up windows in bedroom. Lots of scuffing around walls. No views from hotel windows. Dining room bare, echoing, uncomfortable chairs, black decor very odd.
It was beautiful! We liked all the different places to sit and wander.

Wonderful breakfast- lots of variety. Bar/lounge comfortable place to relax. Nice and quiet. Very comfortable beds.
The door to the room was hard to close without slamming. A snack option at the bar would be nice
Location, Breakfast was excellent Beds comfortable Room size for 3 very good
Maybe a small fridge would be good just to keep cold drinks especially in the summer time
They were very helpful and responsive to enquiries and friendly to boot. No press button this or that. I can only say great things
We had to leave
We slept well, the beds are very comfortable. The breakfast is great, you can order hot breakfast from the menu, as well as take anything you like from the buffet table. The room was spacious and clean. The hotel also provided free cot bed for our baby which was very thoughtful.
We thought that the spa facility belongs to the hotel and its included in the overall price with timeless possibilities to use the pool or the jakuzzi. But it is a completely different company, you need to book the jakuzzi, and it costs 25 eur/person. It was a bit disappointing as we really wanted to relax in there.
Beautiful hotel in great setting

One of the nicest hotels i have stated in in recent times. Very clean and comfortable. The staff were amazing. They could not do enough for you and were so friendly. The food was amazing and at the breakfast there was so much selection. We will definitely be back. A great location for exploring Powerscourt Estate, the Powerscourt Waterfall, Glendalough and Bray Head. All these are fairly close by.
We loved everything and there was nothing we could say we were unhappy with.
Everything was great and verry well done.
The only thing its a little hard to find. It says that it is on main street but I would not count the location as main street.
Staff
No pool
It was exceptional !
The location was brilliant 😊
Staff excellent friendly very helpful
Liked it all
Beautiful and relaxing hotel. Rooms clean and staff very helpful. I have stayed with work and wanted to come back.
I was only staying one night!!!!
Ease of parking and early check-in
Nothing
Beautiful setting, stunning surroundings. Summerhill House is not far from Kilruddery, our wedding destination. Victoria (breakfast staff) was welcoming, friendly & helpful- couldn’t have done more for us. She was the ‘standout’ staff member of our whole stay! 😊 Breakfast was ample & choice was excellent. Viennoiserie was fresh & delicious!
No in-room safe, no air conditioning. A fridge in the room would have been welcome. Lift was shoddy. Breakfast juice was advertised as ‘freshly squeezed’ - it isn’t! It is from ‘concentrate.’ Cooked breakfast was delicious, although could’ve been hotter, as could the coffee.
Fantastic location – walking distance to the town and so easy to get to Powerscourt by car or on foot. The food (both dinner & breakfast) was very impressive and the staff were so lovely & friendly-from the bar to the restaurant to the cleaning/reception staff. Made us feel really welcome. Lovely areas to sit & chat / have a drink & just generally a very characterful building.
There was nothing major really. Perhaps a few extra touches could be added to the room - somewhere to hang a hand towel by the sink, a toilet roll holder & some charging plugs by the bed. None of this would stop us coming back by any means.
Location
The property was dirty. I am surprised at previous reviews that say it was clean. There was hair in our shower tray, the carpets were unclean, there were dead flies on the windowsills. The bottom of the door from the breakfast room to the kitchen was very dirty, a spoon lay on the floor beside the door the whole time we were at breakfast with staff just walking past it. When checking out the girl on reception asked how was our stay, i made a face and said it was just allright, she smiled and said great, didnt ask for feedback, didnt want to know. This is very expensive for what it is, l would strongly urge people to check powerscourt before booking this hotel as you will probably find its not much more expensive. When you google this hotel ut shows a lady in a hot-tub and gives the impression it is a spa hotel, the spa is a separate building run by a different company.
A very pleasant country house hotel.
Only the location was good thing
No A/C or cooling very warm in this summer weather only one fan was given on request The room wasin the corner of upper floor, hard to reach room with doors, requested to change the room which wssy denied that hotel is full No wifi!!!! AT ALL! despite asking still excuses had to rely on mobile internet throughout the stay, THEY DIDN'T GAVE THE PASSWORD FOR WIFI WITH GOOD SIGNAL Breakfast not good had to ask for everything, DESPITE TELLING VEGAN STILL BROUGHT NON VEGAN STUFF AND SENT BACK Half of the Room window was broken, OTHER WINDOW WAS NOT OPENING AT ALL Toilet was awful very small and poorly designed. NO space to wash in sink Definitely was a waste of money not worth it They can't claim its 4 star, in my opinion if i have the choice i ll claim money back after this bad stay
It was easy to walk into the town from the hotel. Breakfast was lovely and staff were friendly. Beds were comfortable and plenty of free parking on the premises.
The bathroom needed an update.
It was a beautiful hotel and fantastic service thank you
Great location
No air conditioning and couldn’t open the windows
It was a nice location.
The decoration in the bedroom was very poor. Big cracks between wall and ceiling. No air conditioning. Borrowed a fan from reception which was a bit of a help. Expensive.
Our second time to stay at this wonderful country house hotel. Spacious rooms, great facilities and excellent staff. The common areas are fabulous.
Shower could have been stronger.
Great character. Staff were very friendly m.
Nice and clean facilities with extensive car park and lovely restaurant and bar. The food was above expectations and the staff (specially at the restaurant and bar) were the very kind and respectful. They made me feel very welcome.
Very comfortable, quiet country house hotel within a short walk or drive from surrounding attractions. Staff lovely & helpful, breakfast really delicious and great choice.
Liked everything
Comfortable enough bed. Shower was OK also
Everything. Firstly two members of staff at the front door. Never welcomed us kept chatting between themselves. Receptionist was helpful. Bedroom was ok. No fridge in the bedroom and milk left out on the side borad. My wife had to ring for a hairdryer and we rang for one to be dropped up to the road very snotty person answered the phone on reception male answered the phone. Lunch was ok and said homemade brown bread but ended up being mc caimbridges. Booked dinner for 8pm and it's ended up a disaster. Ordered chicken dish and Cod dish form the menu. Chicken dish was bearly warm and extremely bland. Cod dish was extremely cold and under seasoned. Waiting staff were very bad mannered when I asked to get it heated. Dish was returned to the kitchen. Male person who sat at the table took lemon garnish off dinner. Cod dinner came back to male customer and new slice of lemon on dinner and still cold. Called waiting staff and very unpleasant and untrained and how to deal with the problem when we the customer's said they wanted to see manager. Staff in the restaurant were more involved and interested in a baby from a wedding and the babysitter in the restaurant. We the customer waited for a manager to see at reception and a person walked in around the area and eventually came to us. Got the bare apology from the same person who was walking around. Ended up heading to Shankill for something to eat. The next morning we ordered breakfast x2 cooked breakfast. 1 ordered 2 sausages and toast toast was bearly toasted and sausages were warm and wrinkled like they were cooked for the first breakfast this morning Second breakfast ordered was 3 pancakes and 3 pieces of white pudding and again it was very cold because the small pads of butter would not melt on the pancakes and the white pudding was cold and extremely greasy. Both breakfasts were not able to be finished.
Breakfast was fab
Lovely big room, bed very comfy, breakfast was very good
This is our second time staying here. The rooms are large and the beds comfortable, the pillows are on the solid side! We love the breakfast - it's the best! The buffet has a big variety on it and there's also a menu included in the price! Lovely helpful staff.
The dinner menu is limited; the only special is roast beef which is quite expensive, so as we ate there two nights we found there was not much choice. By the glass wine choice is also very limited. We came back early Sunday afternoon hoping for afternoon tea but there was nothing available. The kitchen did offer to make us tea. We did not have lunch there so I can't comment on that.
We wanted to stay near Powerscourt and this was such a find - staff were amazing, dinner was geat and the breakfast really was special. Quiet rooms, lovely terrace to enjoy the sun and we hit the mini spa next door - great mini retreat!
The breakfast was excellent, with a great selection and very good quality food. We also appreciated how smooth and efficient the check out process was.
While we appreciated the opportunity for a night away, the overall experience did not represent good value for money. For a hotel at this price point, we expected a noticeably higher standard of service and attention to detail. From receiving no assistance with our luggage on arrival and the absence of basic amenities such as robes and slippers, to waiting an unreasonably long time for a replacement TV remote during a major sporting event, the experience felt underwhelming and fell well short of expectations.
Comfortable bed. Lovely breakfast. Staff very nice.
Expensive room rate. Bit dated, bedrooms could do with a little freshening up
Very good food.
Good varied breakfast options
It is a little removed from the village
Food was excellent and service was excellent
Rooms were very warm (summer) and bedclothes too heavy for the time of year
Location Food and breakfast in particular
Hotel is dated in general
