Hank and Annemarie, our hosts and owners of the hotel, were exceptional, like new members of our family! Not only are they a superb team who work well together, they took time from their busy schedule to chat with us and not only provide information about things to do and places to see, but also to discover what our interests were. We weren't the only guests - without blinking, Hank and Annemarie easily switched from one language to another as they dealt with, and helped all of us.

That our association with Hank and Annemarie couldn't have been longer.

De centrale ligging, persoonlijke ontvangst, mooie kamer, goed ontbijt.

Stijle trap omhoog om de receptie te bereiken. Gelukkig voor ons geen probleem, maar je moet wel goed ter been zijn, zeker omdat je voor de kamers op de 2e verdieping weer een trap op moet.

Top locatie, Henk en Annemarie hebben ons van harte welkom geheten en Haarlem goed gepromoot. Het B&B was schoon en we hadden een heerlijk ontbijt.

Doordat het een ouder gebouw is was het aardig warm zonder airco.

We had such a great stay at The Malts Hotel in Haarlem. From the moment we walked in, the welcome was genuinely warm, Henk and Annemarie (the hosts) are super friendly and made us feel at home straight away. They’re the kind of people who clearly enjoy what they do, and it shows. The room was spotless. Everything felt fresh, clean, and well looked after, with comfy beds. It’s one of those places where you can tell they take pride in keeping things perfect for guests. The location was great for visiting Haarlem. Although it was in the city centre we slept very well at night. Overall, a brilliant stay, amazing hosts, a lovely welcome, super breakfast and a comfortable room. I’d happily book again next time I’m in Haarlem.

Nothing to not like really apart from the steep stairs which some visitors may find a challenge. Our hosts always offerred to help with our cases so thank you.

Excellent location. Close to transportation links, shops and restaurants. The breakfast was excellent and the host accommodated my friends with gluten free items.

Abbiamo trascorso un soggiorno molto piacevole in questo B&B a Haarlem. La struttura è accogliente, curata e pulita, con un’atmosfera tranquilla che fa sentire subito a casa. La posizione è ottima per visitare Haarlem e raggiungere comodamente il centro a piedi. Abbiamo apprezzato particolarmente la gentilezza e la disponibilità dei proprietari, sempre attenti alle nostre esigenze. La camera era confortevole e ben organizzata, e la colazione è stata un ottimo modo per iniziare la giornata. Haarlem è una città davvero affascinante e questo B&B è stato un'ottima scelta per il nostro soggiorno. Lo consigliamo sicuramente e ci tornerei volentieri!

Forse migliorerei le finiture delle camere: in alcuni punti la pittura era da sistemare. Aggiungerei anche un topper al letto e un cuscino più morbido, anche se mi rendo conto che quest’ultimo è probabilmente una esigenza personale.

Die steilen Treppen sind nichts für alte Leute. Die Zimmer sind ziemlich eng.

Man fühlt sich sehr willkommen und schon fast familiär eingebunden. Sehr schöne Einrichtung, Velos konnte man gratis in der Nähe in überwachter Velostation unterbringen

Henk & Annemarie couldn't have done more for us. They provided a full gluten-free breakfast for me and were incredibly welcoming right from the start, with great communication from the moment we booked.

It was very hot in Haarlem during our stay. While the provided fan was great, air conditioning in the room would have been a welcome bonus.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Wunderschöner Aufenthalt in perfekter Lage Wir hatten einen rundum tollen Aufenthalt in diesem liebevoll von den Inhabern geführten Hotel. Man merkt sofort, wie viel Herzblut und Leidenschaft in diesem Haus steckt. Die Inhaber waren unglaublich freundlich, hilfsbereit und hatten viele tolle Tipps für Unternehmungen und Ausflüge in und um Haarlem. Die Lage ist perfekt, um Haarlem zu Fuß zu erkunden. Auch die Parkmöglichkeiten im RAAKS sind sehr praktisch und machen die Anreise mit dem Auto unkompliziert. Unser Zimmer war absolut sauber und gemütlich, und die bequemen Betten haben für erholsame Nächte gesorgt. Besonders begeistert waren wir auch vom perfekten Frühstück – eine tolle Auswahl und ein wunderbarer Start in den Tag. Wer auch gerne einen Abstecher ans Meer machen möchte, ist hier ebenfalls bestens aufgehoben: Zandvoort ist mit dem Zug völlig unkompliziert und schnell zu erreichen. Außerdem gibt es rund um Haarlem wunderschöne Fahrradwege, sodass sich die Umgebung auch hervorragend mit dem Fahrrad erkunden lässt. Für uns war das Hotel die perfekte Wahl für eine Städtereise. Eine tolle Kombination aus zentraler Lage, herzlicher Gastfreundschaft, Sauberkeit und persönlicher Atmosphäre. Wir kommen sehr gerne wieder und können dieses Hotel uneingeschränkt weiterempfehlen! 🌷🚲☀️

The guests feel welcome and at ease, with friendly attention and advice about activities and places to visit around Haarlem. The dining room is available all day for tea or coffee and socializing. Great location and large, bright , airy rooms.

I booked an economy room which was on top floor so was very small and felt very warm. Also as my room was tiny, there was no space for an armchair to relax in. The breakfast area had dining seats with minimal back support plus an upholstered bench to sit on so there was nowhere in the B&B hotel to relax and feel comfortable, to read for example. This triggered back pain for me. However I mentioned this to owners and they fetched a dining chair with lower back support and were able to swap my room to a larger one with a sofa to relax in comfortably. This was €20 extra per night. This was well worth the extra money as room seemed double the size, had a fridge, lovely view of the high street and was better ventilated. So my top tip for a perfect stay would be to opt for the larger rooms. My family members were happy with their economy room.

Wir haben eine ganz wunderbare Zeit in Haarlem verbracht. Das lag unter anderem auch daran, dass das Hotel Malts eine ganz besondere Unterkunft ist. Wir konnten am ersten Tag weit vor der offiziellen Checkin-Zeit einchecken. Der Empfang war so herzlich wie man es bisher noch nie erlebt hat. Wir wurden direkt zum Kaffee eingeladen und mit allen wissenwerten Tipps für den Aufenthalt in Haarlem ausgestattet. Das Frühstücksbüffet war mit so viel Liebe von Annemarie und Henk angerichtet. Es gab jeden Morgen einen frisch gepressten O-Saft. Mit dem Frühstück konnte man wunderbar gestärkt in den neuen Tag starten, um neue Abenteuer zu erleben. Das Hotel ist im Herzen der Altstadt und dennoch war in den Zimmern kein Lärm der Altstadt zu vernehmen. Wir konnten wunderbar schlafen. Die Zimmer wurden täglich gereinigt. Wir können das Hotel nur wärmstens empfehlen. Danke, Annemarie und Henk für den tollen Aufenthalt bei Euch, den wir nie vergessen werden und definitiv zu Euch wieder kommen werden! Wir freuen uns jetzt schon darauf!

Die Lage ist super, das Frühstück ganz okay, das Personal super freundlich.

Ich hatte ein Hinterhofzimmer und in den Abendstunden/frühen Morgenstunden war es extrem laut durch nistende oder Schlafplatzsuchende Rabenvögel und Möwen. Morgens um 4.00 Uhr war die Nacht zu Ende.

The staff made the place! Everyone was friendly, professional and efficient. They were attentive to all the guests, providing recommendations and making suggestions. Breakfast was very good. Everything was fresh and healthy. Location is fabulous. Rooms were as advertised. Basic but very clean and sufficient.

TV in our room was so teeny tiny. Normally it wouldn't matter as we don't watch tv on vacation but it's world cup season and it was frustrating to try to watch the games on what wasn't much larger than a computer screen and we were too tired to get dressed to watch in a sports bar.

Tolle Lage direkt im Zentrum von Haarlem. Die Unterkunft ist sehr sauber. Wir haben uns total wohl gefühlt. Mit dem Rad ist man schnell am Strand. Amsterdam ist gut mit dem Zug erreichbar. Nette Gastgeber. Unglaublich freundlich und hilfsbereit. Wir empfehlen dieses Hotel gerne weiter und kommen auch gerne nochmal wieder.

Ontbijt mag wel wat uitgebreider

Schon bei der Ankunft im Hotel wurden wir mit einem Getränk empfangen und es wurde uns ausführlich erklärt, was wir uns in Haarlem anschauen könnten und welche Restaurants zu empfehlen sind. Das Frühstück ist ausgezeichnet und sehr abwechslungsreich inkl. frisch gepresstem Orangensaft und täglich frisch zubereitetes Müsli. Die Lage ist sehr zentral in der Fußgängerzone. Zum Bahnhof geht man ca. 10-15 Min. zu Fuß und ist in ca. 20 Min. mit dem Zug in Amsterdam (am besten mit dem Amsterdam-Regio-Ticket).

The blueprint for a B&B, excellent. Annemarie and Henk are very friendly and know not just a lot about Haarlem and the region, but also other stuff. Excellent breakfast and cozy hotel, perfect location. This is one to return to.

A very cozy B & B in Haarlem well-situated near the central market square. Our room was relatively large and modern with all necessary facilities. We found the proprietors, Henk and Ann-Marie, to be particularly helpful and welcoming and forthcoming with directions and suggestions. The town is entirely walkable and very picturesque, with easy access to trains and buses to other destinations, including Amsterdam. The breakfast room became a hub of activity with the opportunity to meet and get to know travelers from other countries. We would highly recommend this guest hotel.

Be aware that the steps leading up to the rooms as well as to the office and breakfast area are very steep and not for the timid or disabled.

Die Lage war perfekt. Die Besitzer waren sehr freundlich und hilfsbereit und gaben uns wertvolle Tipps zum sicheren Abstellen der Fahrräder sowie für das Sightseeing. Das Frühstück war ausgezeichnet – mit frischem Obst, Müsli im Glas, frischen Brötchen und vielen weiteren leckeren Angeboten. Zimmer und Badezimmer waren großzügig, modern eingerichtet und sehr sauber. Ein tolles Hotel – wir würden jederzeit wieder buchen.

This was a fantastic place to spend four days in the Netherlands. The room was spacious, quiet, clean and comfortable, The location was great; lots to do nearby in Haarlem and an easy commute by train into Amsterdam. Annemarie and Henk truly go above and beyond as hosts. The breakfast each morning was delicious, with bonus points for fresh-squeezed OJ and perfectly-made cappuccino. We would stay here again without hesitation and recommend that others do the same.

Everything was lovely and as described: cozy room, very comfortable bed, exceptional breakfast. Henk and Annemarie are consummate hosts: They made us feel welcome and comfortable, and we much appreciated Henk's thorough introduction to all that Haarlem has to offer. We'd never been to Haarlem before and intended to take the train into Amsterdam most days, but we were so charmed by Haarlem that we ended up spending 3 days exploring the city and only one day in Amsterdam. Highly recommend staying at Malts!

The hosts were amazing!!

The location of the hotel is an easy walk from the railway station and easy to find and you are welcomed at the door. Also a couple of minutes from the main shopping/sight seeing area which has many bars and restaurants, but was not noisy or too busy. The hotel provided all we needed for a two night stay and was hard to fault. The room was a good size and full of daylight with openable windows. The owners/staff were outstanding in terms of making you welcome; they were friendly and helped you make the most of the town and what the main sights were. Breakfast included some home made stuff and was served at the table with a smile and more than adequate.

Hard to pick any holes in the Hotel. You may need to get used to Dutch stairs which are quite steep, but the hosts carried our baggage up in any case.

Owners are very nice and accommodating. Breakfast is wonderful, and location is perfect!

Siamo stati nel B&B una sola notte perché di passaggio ad Haarlem ma siamo rimasti molto contenti. Il B&B è vicino al centro, molto ben curato e pulitissimo. I gestori sono stati gentilissimi e molto disponibili. Possibilità di Self check in sé si arriva fuori orario. La nostra camera era piccola ma confortevole e con tutto il necessario. Colazione eccezionale. Parcheggio non disponibile ma a pagamento c’è un garage a solo 5 minuti a piedi. Le tariffe purtroppo sono alte in Olanda soprattutto nelle zone turistiche comunque qui abbiamo trovato un buon rapporto qualità prezzo rispetto ad altre strutture.

Just a good experience. Small, clean, well-located, and comfortable. Ann Marie and Hank go out of their way to answer questions, make you welcome, and serve a wonderful breakfast meal. Both my wife and I were very satisfied and can recommend The Malts (B&B) Hotel.

The location was perfect. Haarlem is an adorable town with a lot of character. The B&B is right near the center of Haarlem and only a 15 to 20 minute walk from public transportation. There were many restaurants to select from. Grocery stores and shopping were steps away. You really had everything you needed right there. The canals are absolutely beautiful. Haarlem is a charming town full of beautiful cobble stone streets and side walks. The beds were extremely comfortable at the B&B!!!! The owners Henk and AnneMarie are the best host! For those who love coffee, the coffee was excellent.!!!! You had the choice of coffee or cappucino. Fresh squeezed orange juice was also provided daily as well as many other goodies. Don't worry tea drinkers, they had a variety of different teas for you to drink.

A nice and very pleasant small hotel with very helpful hosts. They explain everything clearly, give useful advice, and are always ready to help. They even prepared a packed breakfast for us on the day of our departure as we were leaving early in the morning. The atmosphere is friendly and rooms are clean and comfortable. Haarlem city centre and bars/restaurants at your doorstep. A very convenient location for bus to Schiphol and Keukenhof and train to Amsterdam. We felt very welcome during our stay. We would be more than happy to come back again!

Hank and Annamarie were exceptional hosts. The hotel was extremely clean and well maintained. I loved the lobby area where anyone staying at the hotel could sit and rest or have a coffee/tea at any time. There were a lot of stairs but they were not a problem for me to walk up and down. And now that I know the city of Haarlem better, this is very common for a hotel to have this many small stairs. My room was very cozy, clean, and spacious. The breakfast buffet exceeding my expectations with what was offered and how delicious everything tasted.

I honestly can't think of anything, I hope to visit and stay here again!

Das Gastgeberehepaar ist sehr freundlich, hilfsbereit bei allen Fragen. Unsere Koffer wurden wie selbstverständlich die Treppe hinauf und auch hinunter getragen ( wir beide über 75 Jahre alt). Es herrscht eine sehr familiäre Atmosphäre ! Wir können die Unterkunft nur weiter empfehlen
