The location was really good, very close to many things, many shops, cafes, restaurants, and not too far to the city centre. The place was sparkling clean, there is a espresso coffee machine in the room, the decoration is really lovely and very sophisticated, everything is good quality, in every detail! Silvana greeted me via whatsapp message, always being very nice and polite and sharing very useful information to clearly guide through the steps for a smooth check in and check out. I had a great time there!
It's not their fault, I know it's something in the Netherlands in general - short space for stairs, very steep, so it's quite difficult to get upstairs when you have suitcases and backpacks. I would't travel with many things if it was a personal trip, but as a professional trip, I had to carry lots of stuff upstairs. But it's not a big issue if you don't have mobility problems.
Location
Stairs?
Everything, the location, facilities and cleanliness! 10/10
That we didnt book to stay longer
Prachtige kamer!
Locatie was top! Bed was fantastisch!
Alles naar wens!
Fijne locatie, parkeergelegenheid dichtbij, mooie ruime kamer en heel klantgerichte communicatie.
Geen idee.
Nette kamer.
Geen personeel.
Goed bed
Alles was goed
Lovely room, great location. It’s amazing tiny hotel with just 4 rooms. There’s no reception and no breakfast, but access is straightforward with a code and there are plenty of restaurants nearby for breakfast. Rooms are really well appointed and the bed was very comfy.
Our room at the front faced the street and was a bit noisy on the Friday night. However, it was a small price to pay for the great location.
The room was very spacious and comfortable. We loved that it had A/C that we could adjust to our comfort. The staff was excellent and very responsive. We were surprised and pleased with the daily room refresh service with towels and refreshments. We would definitely stay here when we are back in the area.
Didn't realize this was not a true "hotel" with a reception and did not have an elevator. Since my husband is strong he was able to handle the baggage. If I was traveling alone would have needed some help to carry my bags up the stairs.
The check-in was easy and there was a convenient place to store our luggage before check-in. The room and bathroom were very nice with a comfortable King bed, nice towels and bath robes. The hotel is located in a convenient, central location. I’m not sure why, but the room smelled like cigar smoke when we entered and on and off while we were there. We were there on a Saturday and Sunday night. On Saturday night, it seemed like the unit below us had a party for 20 or so people who didn’t quiet down until the early morning hours. Sunday night was very noisy as well due to people outside on the streets below. The hotel provides ear plugs which should be a strong clue that it is likely to be noisy (I’m guessing more on weekend nights when people party).
I’m highly allergic to smoke smells, so the smell of cigar smoke was hard to take; and the noise level was a lot.
Da kamer was gewoon geweldig.
We had a great stay. It was clean and well-located. The instructions for checking in were clear and we were easily able to reach assistance on WhatsApp. No one was checking in after us, so they even let us keep out luggage there a little longer.

Italiaanse stijl die helemaal was doorgevoerd.
Niets
Super sauber, super nettes Personal. Tolle Lage. Super bequeme Betten.

The room was absolutely gorgeous, newly remodeled, very elegant. Beds were very comfortable, location was very close to train station and the Cory ten Boom museum (which was excellent). This is a small hotel and has no reception desk, but they welcome you via text and actually gave me more personal response than I often receive at hotels with reception desks.
Zeer comfortabel
Amenities were very luxurious. Good location. Quiet.
Location and cleanliness
Beautiful small boutique hotel (4 rooms) in the perfect city centre location. Rooms are exactly as shown - luxurious and stylish with high-end finishes. Water, tea/coffee, toiletries, towels, all provided and replenished as you need. Although this is a non-contact hotel (no on-site reception) communication was excellent and I felt very well looked after. As there were no guests checking out on the day I arrived, they were able to accommodate an early check-in, but also provide luggage storage in their brand shop downstairs if needed. I throughly enjoyed my stay and would absolutely recommend Cavallaro.
Nothing! But just a note, that as stated in the description and in other reviews, you need to climb stairs, and Dutch stairs tend to be steep and narrow compared to what many are used to... so be sure you are good with steep stairs and can easily carry your luggage up them!
Although Haarlem is a very small old town, Hotel's location is perfect to walk around the town. This hotel doesn't have a reception, but hotel's staff is very helpful.
The steep and narrow stairs. I wish they would install a lift for baggage.
Great location, very nice room and amenities. Loved the robes and shower. The in room cleaning was exceptional. Communication and service was beyond incredible and greatly appreciated. The hotel went above and beyond to make our stay wonderful.
The property is very chicly designed and terribly comfortable. The bed and bedding are top quality and the location very quiet at night which was perfect for sleep after long sight-seeing days. The housekeeping staff is excellent and they even arranged to launder and return some of our garments for us. The proximity to the city center made it easy for us to do walking tours of the neighborhoods and attractions with easy access to the canals for boat rides and sight-seeing. I would definitely recommend this small, elegant hotel to any discerning traveler.
Truly, the only negative is the steep staircase to access any of the floors of the property. The treads themselves are a bit shallow and the risers somewhat high so caution is necessary, particularly when carrying luggage up or down.
Clean and comfortable.
The stairs are steep. You need to carry baggage upstairs.
The location was excellent, right in the middle of the Town, the room was very clean, we didn’t see any staff but is not that kind of Hotel, it’s 4 rooms on two levels. ( 3 sets of stairs to climb )The towels, dressing gowns etc were a nice touch, there was a coffee machine and kettle. We are regular visitors to Haarlem, about 8 times now, we love the Town, the people and how easy it is to visit other places using Haarlem as a base. There are loads of cafes/restaurants all within walking distance so getting decent food is really easy. The clothing shop downstairs kept our luggage in one of the dressing rooms until check in which was helpful. We paid extra to check out late on our departure day which was a bonus.
We knew the stairs were steep, but the curve on them could be dangerous if your not fit with good balance. There were a couple of things about the actual room which would have made our stay better, the desk/dressing table had no mirror so doing hair and make up was difficult, there was a full length mirror beside bathroom door but you had to sit on the floor to plug in hairdryer etc. the bathroom was beautiful but has no natural light so again didn’t work for make up/hair. The main thing I missed was an armchair, after being out all day you had to come back sit or lie on the bed as there was nowhere to sit and relax. The little chair provided had no back and was there to look pretty. The view from the window which can’t be helped but was roof tops with other properties junk, old broken toilets etc! We normally stay in Niu Dairy Hotel or Hotel Lion, D’Or which are both fabulous, the other Hotels were all full due to it being the Flower Festival.
The location is ideal. Restaurants for breakfast, lunch or dinner are within a few blocks. Our room was beautifully decorated. The bathroom was outstanding with heated floor and premium fixtures. A mile from the train station, two blocks to the market square.
There is no front desk. You access the facility by keypad code, and you access your room by key. I left the key in room and locked us out. The hotel resolved the problem and treated us fairly. We were treated very well.
Awesome location. Beautiful room. Close to metro and the Haarlem market. Couldn’t have asked for better.
No complaints at all. Just be aware there are some steep stairs to get to the rooms. Was expecting it therefore not an issue.
Everything
Nothing
We stay yearly in about 50 hotels but this hotel and host exceeded all our expectations. We stayed here because we married in the area and they really helped us with everything we needed even without asking. It is very obvious that this host makes sure their customers are super satisfied and comfortable. This was so nice to not have to think about anything since Silvana took everything out of our hands without doubt. Also the location is very nice in the center, nice atmosphere, nothing else to wish for what they offer.
Nothing
The property was excellently located, beautiful and extremely calming.
No where in shower to put toiletries
The location is excellent and the rooms are very neat.
The only thing was that the shower was very tiny. Other than that, it’s a magnificent property.
Beautiful, clean and well maintained rooms. Staff very kind and communicative
Nothing
The location is great. The rooms are incredibly comfortable, and the rain shower is the best thing after a long day walking.
Excellent stay in city center. Nice view and quiet at night. Would choose again.
Stairs to the room are steep, but that was not a problem for us.
È un boutique hotel
Un po' di polvere sul soffitto
Good location near the central square with restaurants nearby. About 15 minutes walk from the station.
Hotel is a misnomer - it is rooms with no other facilities. Very steep stairs to all four rooms.
Cavallaro Hotel is perfect. First: Silvana is exceptional; she drove all the way to Delft to bring us the cash we’d left in the room safe. We were totally blown away! The suite was very elegantly decorated with beautiful accessories, furniture and finishing touches. The room, which opens onto a private terrace, felt like a calm oasis with full length block-out drapes, beautiful wood floors, lovely wallpaper and lighting. The elegant black and gold bathroom, with a shower and tub, has excellent fixtures, great lighting and a view of the terrace. We arrived to a vase of pink roses and a welcome note. The train station, Grote Markt etc are easy walking distance as are very good restaurants.
Nothing!
Hotel is in a central location near the train station and main attractions. The room is spacious, clean and luxurious. Communication with hotel staff, Silvana, is via WhatsApp, and she is prompt and helpful in her replies. There is no lift, so need to be prepared to carry the luggage up a flight of stairs. Highly recommended to stay here if the latter is not a problem.

Lovely ‘contactless’ hotel with superb rooms appointed to an exceptional standard
Very central location.
Very steep stairs but the staff happily helped with my luggage.
Well appointed rooms. Private, only four rooms in total. Silvana / hotel team super responsve.
Can't think of anything. You should be aware when booking that there is no one on site (i.e. no reception), with that said the team is available via phone or What's App 24/7.
Location.
We didn’t actually stay overnight. Nor see the room. When we arrived, we learned that the only access to the rooms was a very steep narrow staircase-about 25 steps - that curved tightly at the top four or five steps. There was no way we, a retired couple, could climb these steps with or without luggage. There is no elevator. We had to leave and find another hotel. We hope to get a refund. There should be a picture of this staircase on the website. Th hotel only has four rooms, so the description is overall misleading.
the location is great the bed is very comfortable its clean! great design great waterpressure and badroom
its a staffless hotel, so you get in via an code. This works great, but i'm a little old fashion and like to have contact with the staff. But this does not hold me back to book here again
Very clean and the location is perfect. They kept our luggage until we explored the city. We will come back for sure
Perfectly located, spacious rooms
Very nice, high quality and personalized details (complementary mini bar, custom welcome card, friendly personell (welcoming/cleaning and shop) and in general definitely on the level they say they are. Location was superb and we'll go back when visiting Haarlem again.
Perhaps one of the best hotels in Haarlem. Although they offer just a couple of rooms (no reception or ammenities), the rooms are very luxurious (Italian) design. I have seen prices vary from high to ‘acceptable’: but worth it. Excellent location (as I always prefer). Also handy that one doesnt need a key but a code (may also be a negative for some people?)
Cant think of anything
Perfect location and room was top notch with lots of room and high end fixtures. Host thought of everything ( except a luggage rack). Perfect location just a short walk from train station and to the groete markt and shopping
Slight smoking smell in room from previous tenants
It was worrying that a live person did not greet me after booking. however, it felt good to know that you were always by my side with the messages. The message contents were very polite and thoughtful.Great central location
Excellent location, a short walk from the station and centrally located for everything we needed. Spootlessly clean, excellent communication with staff who kindly provided everything we required.
Nothing
Really nice room and bathroom with very comfortable beds.and services like complementary drinks, bath robes etc. The room is really in the heart of Haarlem, 2 mins walk from the main square. Steep stair bring you to your room, so if you are less mobile this hotel will be a challenge for you. Staff super friendly and at your disposal when ever you want.
If you have the room facing the street, and you are light sleeper, you might want to avoid booking as during weekends you will have noise until late from the weekend party people.
location
very steep stairs. if brought large case would be unable to carry large case up or down stairs. No staff or reception poor lighting in room, small room and unable to use TV . Too technical Not good for anyone over 40!
The location is fantastic and Silvana was really helpful. I really liked the fact we were asked each day if we wanted our room to be cleaned and that anything we needed Silvana sorted for us. Silvana even posted a charging cable back to us in the Uk that we left by mistake….Fantastic service 👍
the only think I could say is the steps are a little steep and there’s no lift…but it wasn’t a problem for us.
