A wonderful place to stay. The host Carey was friendly and attentive. The facilities are very good and the unit we stay in was clean, comfortable and spacious. It was close to the heritage area - 5 minutes walk and a great base to visit wineries etc.

Travelling around the South Island my husband and I stayed at this very comfortable motel. Friendly greeting on arrival, scrupulously clean and very comfortable. Close enough to walk to and by the lake. Our unit had a super king and a single bed!

We had a wonderful stay at the Central Gateway Motel in Cromwell. We were warmly welcomed by Hayley, who gave us great advice on winery tours and places to eat and drink. Our room was spacious and every comfortable with a separate kitchen. The bathroom was roomy as well. Everything was spotlessly clean. We had parking directly in front of our room. We were within easy walking distance to the Heritage Precinct where there were options for dining and a very cosy bar. We stayed for two nights and would definitely return. We couldn't fault it. Great stay here in a quiet location of town, room was very comfortable with everything you need, plenty of hot water, and bed very comfortable. Motel location close to old part of town five minute walk, takes about 10minute drive to get to centre of town for food shopping and restaurants. Friendly owners will definitely be back, thank you so much.

Very quiet and great off-street parking. I found the heater in the lounge wasn't as warm as I would like it but being elderly this was probably due to my age.

My son and I traveled through New Zealand at the beginning of March 2023, and we stayed at a number of motels, so we gained a pretty good appreciation for the better ones versus the bad ones. Central Gateway Motel is most definitely one of the better ones. Super clean and very well maintained. Comfortable beds, and the best pillows I have ever slept on (May I know the brand, please?😊). I was greeted warmly and with a smile, which is sadly becoming a rarity. If you are traveling near Cromwell and are in need of accommodations, I can highly recommend Central Gateway Motel. You will not regret staying here.

The cabana accommodation was basic and of a low standard, we made the mistake of pre-paying, and would have walked away from the place had we not made that mistake. No air conditioning, shower and facilities for that room were well below standard. The owner was pleasant enough but seemed to resent us not booking direct with them.

This facility was excellent and provided the best sleep of our travel so far.

Lovely , relaxing stay at Central Gateway Motel . Exceptionally clean . We could not fault it . Had everything we needed . Being away from the hassle and bustle of central Cromwell makes it a nice quiet place to stay with an easy walk to the Old historic part of Cromwell . Lovey helpful hosts . Would happily stay here again .

Comfortable and quiet with good facilities. However at 10.20am the cleaner knocked at the door and told us we didn’t have time for a shower or anything as checkout was 10am. Unfortunately I’d been on the phone to the UK dealing with a family issue but we had to get out. I agree usual checkout time is 10am but not always and no information given or in the room about this. Left very upset.

The heat pump stopped working when the temperature outside dropped below freezing leaving us very cold. Very dated rooms and poor water pressure.

Had everything we needed

Such a lovely place to stay, it’s older style but so clean and well maintained that it doesn’t matter at all. We stayed two nights - the bed was comfy, the owners were super lovely and our upstairs unit was impeccably clean. My sister always finds something wherever we stay and she was amazed by the high standard of Central Gateway. Would absolutely stay again!

We stayed for one night while attending a friends birthday party. The rooms are spacious and nicely furnished and include a cute kitchen. The motel is very clean and well maintained with lovely views from the upstairs rooms and a central location. The owners are friendly and welcoming. Would definitely stay again.

We had the Cabbana unit which is small and cute. It was a sweltering 30°C on the day we arrived. The unit has no air conditioning which we didnt pick up on whike booking. However, the manager was kind enough to hunt down a pedestal fan which made sleeping somewhat possible that night. Recommend installing air conditioning in that unit, otherwise the unit was good for one night's stay.

This is an excellent place to stay if you want a quiet location near the lake.

Nice and clean.

Biking was our mission. We started in Cromwell and worked our way to the Gold trail, highly recommended, and day trips to Arrowtown and Wanaka. The accommodation was perfect for us😍 allowed us to cook for ourselves, sort our laundry and was close to all the activities we were interested in!

Lovely place to stay. Staff are really friendly and helpful. Heater was turned on in our room before arrival which was awesome. Room was comfy. Very happy.

Fabulous place to stay as previous. Love the locality, people, service, cleanliness. If had one wish it would be for more water pressure. It is extremely low which doesn't make it easy for showering.

What a comfortable motel to find... clean, tidy, enough room and nice comfy bed. We managed to get a unit on the flat - friends stayed upstairs. Lovely view of the Cromwell hills and close to where we wanted to be for dinner. A really nice stop for the night.

Would highly reccomend Central Gateway Motel. Stayed for 2 nights. Check in was easy and hassle free. Room was spotless. Hosts very friendly. Ordered a continental breakfast for Saturday morning and it was just what we needed. A very short walk to the Town and Countyclub. Had a downstairs unit and it was very comfortable and quiet. We would definitely choose to stay here again when we head down south.

We had a fantastic room great evening outside on the deck. Only negative was the flow of water in the shower. There wasn’t much water coming out. Would I stay there again? Absolutely! Great hosts too!

So happy I chose to stay at the Central Gateway Motel at close proximity to the Heritage precinct with a couple of cafes and restaurants and a supermarket close by. I had a very peaceful stay and I had a very spacious room with all the amenities I needed. My room was in the main building on the second floor overlooking the mountains (from my bed!). I was taking a bus from Cromwell and received a very kind offer from the host to drop me at the bus stop (~3km away) as she was going to run some errands in the town. Really appreciated this - especially as it started raining the moment we stepped into her car. Would have loved to stay longer - next time then!

Hailey was very helpful and made check in go smoothly. The room was excellent and very roomy! This was the best place we have stayed since being in 4 different motels as we travel through New Zealand! Friendly checkin with no hassles. Quiet small unit with everything we needed for one night and could make our breakfast with the toaster etc. Not much else to say except we were happy with the night and had a good following day.

We were lucky enough to get accommodation in the detached Cabana accommodation which was more than adequate for our needs. Spacious bedroom with kitchen, good shower and plenty of hot water and towels. Clean and tidy. Outside area to sit in. Very friendly and informative staff.

Good size rooms, TV in both living room and bedroom. Kitchen well appointed including a full sized range/oven. Very Spacious bathroom and shower, with ample towels supplied. Cabinetry in kitchen a bit dated, but still very tidy. Good sized family fridge in kitchen. Receptionist very pleasant and accommodating. Would definitely stay again.

Selected the motel given its location to the historic precinct. We were allotted the old cabana - a tight and cold space. All the mod cons were included but the shower only got warm (not hot) and the room itself was quite tiny. The host was friendly.

We were on our way back in the evening from Lake Manapouri to the Canterbury Plains and needed a night to split the journey up. We needed a mid priced room for the night. What a find! The room was warm, the bed cosy, it was quiet, we had some milk for a coffee in the morning and the owners were more than helpful in recommending somewhere to have breakfast. We were well rested and on our way. We could have spent longer really....

Personally escorted to our room which was so comfortable, private and clean. Looking forward to another visit at some stage. Highly recommended.

This was a nice hotel that slept 4 people in two rooms. It was clean and quiet. It had everything we wanted. It had enough towels for 4. We would stay there again.

We stayed in a stand-alone room which was nice and comfortable, and private -a little dated but very clean. The only real annoyance was the rather cramped condition of the room. If you were staying one night, it would be fine. Maybe that was reflected in the price. We were there for 4 nights so found it a bit awkward cooking etc. However we had a really friendly and welcoming greeting on Check-in

Staff were very helpful wanted for nothing. Enjoyed our two nights stay I differently book through expedia again.
