Provider-sourced guest reviews.
Excellent location , really big, comfortable bed, great breakfast. We stayed in the oddly named Gazebo in a nice big room with views out over the Avon. Plenty of hot water for showers.
Despite the building being quite substantial the sounds and voices still travelled from other rooms
Lovely old hotel in the centre of Tewkesbury, staff were friendly and service at breakfast and dinner was very good, the food was also good, a small menu executed very well which is far better than a large menu being mediocre, nice cosy restaurant area, really enjoyed it.
Bedroom was very small and my husband had to duck to get inside the door! Not really a complaint as it is a very old hotel.
Lovely building. Friendly staff
The room was quite hot but a fan was provided
Beautiful hotel and bedroom

Fab location. Great staff. Room size was good. Fans supplied in room. Good toiletries.
We only had 1 bath towel & had to go out to reception to ask as the room had no phone. Set of pillow slips inside out. So was the duvet cover. This was rectified ourselves. High amount of dust everywhere. Including the top of bedside tables. Used coffee pods left in coffee machine from previous guests. House keeping has let the property down. This is a great property in a great location.
The view was amazing, and the hotel was very conveniantly situated, staff were friendly and helpful.
Breakfast - the cold/continental offering was a bit boring. The fresh fruit was great, but i basically had cereal and toast. Granola, yogurt and a variety of jams would have lifted the offering greatly. Cooked was good.
On site parking was a huge plus and the hotels location.
Nothing.
Location and view of the river
Room was not clean. No bottled water and tissue box empty
very enjoyable stay on the main street
nothing
Fabulous room, Dinah Craik. Staff could not have been more welcoming or helpful throughout our stay. Only stayed one night, wish it could have been longer.
No dislikes whatsoever.
Love this place
Lovely hotel with lots of character, comfortable room and excellent breakfast. The staff went above and beyond to be kind and accommodating and helped with additional requests such as early check in. Location was brilliant, would definitely recommend as a base for exploring Tewkesbury and the surrounding area.
The car park was a little small so we had to park elsewhere on a couple of days as it was full
Good location, very interesting building with lots of quirky rooms
Parking is restricted, not enough spaces and 3 or 4 cars belonging to staff members taking spaces. You need to arrive early to get a space then not move your car to ensure a space
Being in the Tudor part of the hotel made it special as we had come to see the history of the town. Nothing was a problem for the staff. Excellent stay.
Parking was limited but overall that did not spoil our stay. Apart from that, nothing else was negative. We had a lovely time and will come back again.
Location and outside area
Room was very hot with no air conditioning amd the fan didn’t make any difference. Also the bathroom looked out to the Main Street and yiu had to pull the blind down fully whilst using the toilet/shower as people could look in from the street/buses.
The room layout and size
The service at breakfast took far too long. The excuse used was that the chef had problems doing our poached eggs!
less noise in the night
Decor and feeling of the place
Our room (502) was lovely but the noise from the room above, people walking , sounded like the ceiling was coming down, conversation could be heard and whatever they did in the night could be heard
The bedroom was nice. Very comfortable. We asked for a room with a view from the bedroom window and we got a partial view of the river which was OK. Parking wasn't the easiest though we persisted and did manage to find a space at the rear of the hotel.
The bathroom was disappointing and needs to be modernised. It requires a walk-in shower. A shower over the bath is very old fashioned. Also, the bathroom was located on an upper level to the bedroom and having to walk up upstairs to get to the bathroom in the middle of the night isn't ideal.
Perfect location to explore the Tewkesbury area, being located on the High Street. This historic property looked very impressive from outside and the interior didn't disappoint. The spacious bedroom and ensuite was delightful with all amenities provided and staff were friendly and extremely helpful. There was an extensive selection for breakfast, with fresh fruit, pastries and cereal as well as a good choice of cooked breakfasts, all served in the spacious restaurant. The choice of evening meals too were plentiful and good value for money. An added bonus was being allowed to leave our car on the hotel car park following morning check out to enable us to walk to the beautiful abbey which is ten minutes away and explore Tewkesbury without having to re park elsewhere. We would certainly recommend The Tudor House hotel and would stay there again next time we visit the area.
Can't think of anything at all that we didn't like.
Lovely old building, very friendly helpful, staff.
Bed was huge, but not that comfortable. Restaurant food was ok, but nothing special
From the moment that we booked our stay, The Tudor House Hotel's communication & customer service (as well as booking.com's) was excellent. Then, from the second that we arrived at the hotel reception, the hotel's team went out of their way to make us feel welcome & like very special visitors. We were staying there to celebrate our 30th Wedding Anniversary and the special touches, & extra warm wishes provided, certainly elevated the occasion for us. We loved the hotel setting & the garden area. The restaurant/bar was friendly & inviting & their live music on Sunday afternoon (James Pullen) made for an even more exceptional stay. Genuine thanks from us. The little touches, like luxury bathroom toiletries, really do make such a difference. So many hotels can feel faceless & lacking personality. The Tudor House Hotel made a refreshing change.
Friendly staff who very kindly prepared our room for an early check in. Lovely room and facilities, delicious breakfast, central location, close to the river and the Abbey.
Nothing at all to dislike. A great place to stay.

hotel is lovely to look at very old and location is great secret garden is pleasant to sit in and relax
food was awful we stayed three days and breakfast was hit and miss cold , under cooked or over cooked continental not topped up we ate there first night just terrible i had pie which was totally inedible pastry was dry and hard my partner had seabass which was overcooked and dry . wetherspoons is better !!!! room was dirty cobwebs everywhere staff were pre occupied didn't want to interact with anyone apart from locals overall shambles
Beautiful old property & lovely room
Nothing to think of
Fantastic building, lots of character. Great location. Lovely spacious room. Free car park.
Bathroom wasn’t very clean.
Great Staff.
Cleanliness needs work. Breakfast poor for money. Chef needs help timing the bacon burnt to crisp
Location good lovely room and friendly staff
the car park was full so we had to park in pay and display. Bathroom floor could have been cleaner
Breakfast fine. Staff very good and friendly location great
Hotel needed update
Fabulous authentic Tudor building with a very obvious ''Tudor'' theme and why not? The staff were friendly and they had a good selection of beers.
Breakfast took a long time to get served, buffet style would be quicker. Parking spaces are quite limited but if you arrive after 6PM on street parking should be available.
The location was excellent. The building itself was full of old world charm All the staff were very friendly and pleasant especially Nisha the under manager
Unfortunately there were no lifts Couldn’t detach the shower head
The overall location is good. Room was comfortable with good facilities, although coffee machine leaked and tv reception poor. During heatwave so good that 2 fans provided.
I booked the hotel online and it wasn't actually the one I thought I'd booked!! Reception area very poor and lift would have been beneficial, especially as directed up narrow old stairs when main staircase also went to our room. Stair carpets needed cleaning. Unfortunately room on main street and very noisy.
Fabulous location on the high street and close to everything you need.
Given the conditions of 30 degrees, th e lack of AC in the room made sleeping a tad difficult, but a fan helped and tge weather is definitely not down to the hotel!
Look old building with lots of character.
Room incredibly hot and the small fan didn't do anything really. Was only a desktop fan and really need a bigger one! Only issue really as everything else was fabulous
Great service, good food, and lovely ambience.
Reception needs to be staffed better - was waiting a while for attention, even after going to the bar and asking. The room above was poorly sound insulated - every step creaked and groaned and sounded as though it was coming through the ceiling, as well as hearing the voices from their room.
We stayed for 5 nights in August in this excellent hotel. We chose it for the historic character and ambience, comfortable lounge and bar areas for relaxing during the day and location on the high street. All of these aspects were great. The staff are very friendly and efficient. Our bedroom was lovely, with high quality furnishings, space to sit, plenty of room, a window that opened in the hot weather and a spacious bathroom. The breakfast was excellent: fruit, cereals, toast, pastries on the buffet with tea/coffee brought to the table and freshly cooked hot breakfast to order. We loved the ambience in the breakfast room - quiet and peaceful but friendly. There is a car park at the back of the hotel but we parked in the municipal car park (a 3 minute walk away) at £5.80 for the day with payment on the RingGo app which meant we didn't need to go out to the car to renew the ticket. You can also park on the street free of charge overnight and for an hour during the day.
Nothing. It was a lovely place to stay.
Black pudding was really nice.
The mattress really hard.
Have stopped at Tudor house before, but it has been a while .Nice comfortable room and friendly staff. It didn't let us down.
Everything was spot on. Couldn't fault it.
Quirky old building in a central location. Staff were excellent. The real ale in the bar was very good and well kept.
Room was very hot, due to the hot weather. Some Breakfast items had been under the heat lamps too long.
Location was good. Food good. The bathroom in our room was nice. Staff very friendly. Parking ok.
The main bedroom (with the exception of the bathroom). The bedroom itself was small and cluttered. It also right at the top of the house so getting luggage up and down the stairs was difficult. Not for elderly people.
Very quaint . Historical building with lots of nooks & crannies. Quiet outdoor garden .
Staff were a little sparse.
Town centre location outside area very good
Too many stairs
Relaxed atmosphere. Helpful staff. Pleasant room. Able to enjoy the hotel's bar and restaurant.
The hotel... beautiful, atmospheric, helpful staff ... excellent breakfast....great location.
Please move it nearer to me.
Beautiful hotel friendly staff excellent breakfast they even brought a sausage for our dog which was a nice touch. Lovely outside area with views of the river. The room was very nice, clean and a comfortable bed..
The room was extremely hot so we couldn't sleep. They did put fan's in the room but this didn't really help
Staff were lovely- room really comfortable- great refurbished bathrooms like most of Coaching Inn group. Meals very good.
Parking limited but we got there for lunch and got a space.
The Room (103) was in the old part of the building and had character with old beams etc. Lovely bathroom. Staff were friendly and helpful.
Nothing.
Friendliness of staff. Cleanliness of room. Hostorical setting.
Low ceilings. No lift.
Lovely hotel, helpful, friendly staff. Clean, comfortable, well appointed room
Excellent food quality and plenty of it. Location was excellent on the high street with free parking in the rear carpark
more umbrellas for the outside tables
Great location Great staff
Nothing
Historic building.
No lift, but unable to install in this historic building.
The hotel is well situated in the town centre. It is close to the river and has a lovely rear garden. It also has its own car park. The food was excellent and the hotel staff are very professional. It is a quiet hotel.
Our room wasn't cleaned very well. It hadn't been hoovered and the coffee station needed a good clean. The bed was not very comfortable. The pillows and mattress were all hard.
We stayed here with friends. The weather was very hot. Our room was spacious and well appointed we needed a fan to keep cool. The restaurant and bar are popular with locals and residents. We sat outside mostly and there is plenty of space at the side and rear of the hotel. Biggest gripe is the small car park. The staff are great and we would stay here again.
Great location, great staff and cute comfy room. We also liked the little touches like biscuits in the room & the ability to have a nightcap before going to bed.
The house keeping in Room 400 was not great. There was dust on the lampshades, dirt around the edges of the walk-in shower & back of the toilet suite. Felt I needed to wear flip-flops in the shower. The room was also super hot. I know we visited in a heat wave but the small window did not let enough breeze in & the tiny fan was not adequate enough.
Close to all the shops and pubs
We found out room disappointing this visit and was not fully clean
Friendly staff, food, location, garden.
No complaints.
Great location and lovely building
Lovely hotel, full of character. Friendly, helpful staff, great food.
Nothing
Close to M5 . Ground floor room available. Excellent staff .
All good
The location
We booked a deluxe double room but unfortunately it certainly wasn't as described. We checked in after 3pm and when we went to our room which was located in what is described as 'the gazebo ' which is located in the car park to be greeted by full bin bags outside our door which we had to step over. First impressions of the room were ok but upon closer inspection we could see lots of bits on the carpet. The coffee machine and kettle were dirty as were the mugs and coffee cups. There was stains down the cupboard door and bin and the room was generally dirty. We made the mistake of checking the mattress and found the mattress topper to have many stains on which resulted in us not wanting to sleep in the bed so we slept on top of it. We said to the deputy manager that upon booking the room it said that it had complimentary water, pillow spray, slippers and robes, none of which were there when we got to our room. She said that there were no robes in the room as they had sent to be deep cleaned for the summer. We also mentioned the dirty mugs and were just told to take them back and we could have some different ones. There was no apology offered to us. We are not people who like to make a fuss about things but when you pay just over £200 with breakfast for one night for a deluxe room or any room for that matter the very least you expect is for it to be clean. Needless to say we won't be staying at this hotel again.
Food excellent staff friendly and efficient hotel interesting. Room exceptionally hot
Too hot in bedroom
Lovely historic building, great location
Fantastic location full of history with really friendly staff
Nothing
Excellent old hotel in Tewkesbury. Good rooms , good food and friendly staff . Excellent breakfast only stayed for one night but will be staying again. Bad points car parking limited.
No aircon . Poor parking.
Great location. Room was very well equipped. Some nice touches by staff to welcome guests . Beer garden had great views of the sunset
Nothing
Location is good and right on the main high street. Atmosphere is fab, welcoming and friendly staff who go above and beyond for anything you need. We stayed for one night, and paid for a slightly nicer room, with breakfast. Food is great as this is cooked fresh to order. It is priced well for food and drinks..my only gripe is that of all the windows in the room only one opend, so it was like sitting in an oven, and while there was a fan in the room this really was pretty useless in what was more likely to be 35 degree heat in the room itself. Other than that I cannot fault this hotel and would definitely return to stay for a longer period of time.
Loved the historic side of it, lovely beer garden and restaurant was lovely. The staff were brilliant
N/A
Good location and nice pub garden.
It was really hot as we were there during the heatwave- but can’t be helped
Loved the history of the building
Fabulous
rooms were poor, very over priced, no air con!
Comfortable room .Hotel has its own parking which is always a bonus .Helpful staff Over all a lovely stay
Really helpful staff, great room
Perfect location and breakfast was very good, staff polite and helpful, room was very good.
Only one thing was that my husband wanted fish and chips for dinner but it wasn't cod and he will only eat that so we went somewhere else
The staff were brilliant, the food was good, the room was lovely and clean. Overall excellent location and comfortable stay.
Pillows quite uncomfortable and due to the weather the room was very hot and stuffy at times, more ventilation or another cooling solution would be good, but appreciate it is a historic building and the heat can't be stopped!
Unfortunately the room was exceedingly warm although this was due to a heat wave. There was no way to cool down other than using the shower. There was also a slight unpleasant odour in the room.
The odour and inability to cool off.
Good breakfast for all my party
All good
Lovely characterful rooms
I stayed here with an old friend and had a lovely time. There were a few issues which the staff worked hard at sorting out for us. Its a beautiful old house with lots of character, two outdoor seating areas which were lovely. The food was excellent though the wine is quite pricy. We were looked after so well particularly by Carole and Ross who were friendly and helpful. The hotel is really well placed for seeing the town and there is lots to see and do. Would definitely recommend.
Staff are friendly, Hotel is comfortable and Interesting, food is great.

Clean comfortable good value for money friendly staff easy parking. Nice all round.
Nothing. All good
Room was clean and comfortable with an unexpected and very welcome view towards the river and the open countryside. Staff were friendly, check in and check out was quick and efficient. For such an old building the bathroom had been given a modern makeover and the shower and bath were very good.
It's a historic building so you know there won't be all the mod cons we have got used to - so no air con! But a fan was provided and the windows could be opened (albeit not very wide) so I was able to cool the room down.
Very comfortable bed, nice bathroom (some re-grouting required), really effective double glazing. Excellent food and Wye Valley beers at reasonable prices. Very friendly staff. Peaceful at night in a rear room. Very historic hotel with fascinating history.
Parking location (at the rear of the property) could be better publicised as could the fact that there are limited spaces
It’s been beautifully updated and is a lovely mix of old and contemporary decor. The garden is lovely and a comfortable place to enjoy the sun when we get it
Nothing really
Room was excellent although it was a very hot night!
The location was great in the centre of town.
It was a bit hot in the room due to the heat it would have been nice to have had a fan in the room.
Beautiful hotel in an authentic Tudor style. Room was spacious and well appointed with a nice view.
A tiny thing but whilst I support the no clean policy I would have liked my tea tray refreshing. Was done on day one when I asked but not the following day.
Location, Staff, Room excellant
Steep staircase
Very comfortable, staff are great, food incredible.

The room was lovely and comfortable Staff very helpful and friendly. The meal was greatly enjoyed.
Breakfast good. Room comfortable and characterful though we were there in heatwave so very hot. They had provided a fan which helped a bit
Rear stairs could do with carpet clean
Staff were fantastic, very polite and helpful. Food also great. 10/10 for that
No air con. Got put in room 208 and it was impossible to stay in it, ended up leaving a day early. Don’t think I’ve ever been in a room like an oven before.
Location and history
.no lift
Central position.
O lifts or air con.
the history of the hotel and its varied accomdation availability
the weather was very hot but the facilities could not cope thus making the environment very uncomfortable
The central location and car parking was good. The room was spacious and very nicely furnished ... attention to detail great - tea and coffee; water; biscuits; perfume. A great deal of effort had been put into making the room look nice. We ate at the pub and the food was lovely and good value for money.
We were on the top floor and it was horrendously hot. The windows wouldn't open more than a crack. We had a small, ineffective fan which made little difference to the temperature. There wasn't a lot the manager could do about the heat but in retrospect we should have asked for a different room or cancelled the booking.
Location
Heat wave, missed air conditioning as it was so hot all night long
