Provider-sourced guest reviews.
Every single thing about Jessop House exceeded our expectations. We knew it had high ratings, but as soon as our amazing host, Joan, welcomed us in and showed us around we realised what a gem of a place it was. Cleanliness, comfort, provision of everything we needed, plus a delicious breakfast was all provided with a spectacular attention to detail. A truly exceptional place to stay. Thank you Joan for making us so welcome and comfortable. From Sue and Bruce, Australia xx
Room was clean and spacious. Location in town was good, with parking behind the hotel a bonus. Breakfast was good.
Bed mattress & pillows not very comfy. Noisy abbey bells rang all night. Had to ring doorbell 3 times before front door being opened on arrival.
Good location in the Main Street and very convenient to visit the abbey.
Parking at the property is limited.
Very comfortable and cosy rooms, in great location in the centre of Tewkesbury. Joan, the owner was very welcoming and her breakfast was wonderful, with an amazing selection of cereals, yoghurt, fruit, nuts, seeds etc as well as several different choices of hot breakfasts. Excellent all round
Beautifully presented property. Such a pleasant place to stay. Host was friendly and helpful. Choice of breakfast was wonderful and really tasty.
Superb breakfast, Attentive host, Fab location, comfortable, clean and homely.
Although the room had secondry glazing. The Abby bells kept me awake most of the night, so i wouldn't choose this particular room again being at the front. The passing traffic is also quite loud. It echoes round the street. The bed was comfortable but I would have preferred a much flatter pillow. The ones provided were all very deep & bouncy. I ended up using a cushion from the sofa - Perhaps place different sizes on the bed instead of using all very high ones. So at least one would suit. I read about the tiny car park beforehand but be mindful if you use it you may get blocked in. Or block someone else in. I was unaware of the tandem parking until arriving. I would worry if there was an emergency in the middle of the night for a family emergency you had to get back for or some other reason you won't be able to get your car out in a hurry. There is a nearby walkable car park but it's down a very dark lane which I would not be comfortable walking at night. We arrived first so I was expecting a space I could access my car as and when I wanted but was told to move backwards into a space so someone else can block me in. I explained we were meeting friends and needed to use my car. The host did move their own car from the one space on it's own and let me park there. We decided not to use my car after that as i didn't want to risk losing the space. Not sure why they didn't want their own car blocked in, as they told me 'everywhere is walkable in Tewkesbury you don't need your car' They made sure their own car wasn't blocked in though.
Arriving to the hotel was pretty easy. Parking is down a narrow alley. The hotel has 5 parking spots in a very restricted area. If all spaces are filled cars get blocked in and one car needs to move for the one in front of it to get out. Our room was large, inviting, nicely furnished, and the bed was comfortable. A downside, but nothing the hotel can control, is its location on the main street through town. The traffic noise can be annoying. The host was friendly and personable when we arrived. Her strong personality showed through in the morning during the breakfast service when she was very curt and direct, to the point of being irritating. Maybe she was having a bad morning. Breakfast itself was very good with a number of cooked options to choose from.
The room was so unique, like bring at your favourite aunts house!. Fabulous breakfast, fantastically clean, fresh and bright.
Parking was a challenge.. but not a game changer. Shower and WC a bit tight but again, does not detract from a wonderful place to stay.
Friendly host, good breakfast and great location in centre of Tewkesbury. Car park was full butowner was very helpful and paid for us to use the nearby car park
Car park was difficult to find and unfortunately was full, but see above
Vriendelijk gastvrouw, parkeerplaats voor de deur. Goed bed.
Alles was een beetje aan een opknapbeurt toe.
Excellent location, beds were comfy, rooms were spotless, staff very attentive
Our visit wasn’t long enough!
We went to a concert at the Abbey and the hotel is very close to the Abbey. The host was very attentive and friendly. Vegetarian breakfast was delicious. Room was lovely but it was up lots of stairs so for me when I stay again I would ask for a room at a lower level. I will definitely book here again when coming to Tewkesbury. Beautifully decorated. Thank you
Only small issue for me was the amount of stairs to our alloted room. But fir someone fitter they would be no problem.
Warm welcome, lovely room and nice choice for breakfast. Quiet but walkable distance to Tewkesbury.
Excellent location. Fantastic clean room. Excellent breakfast. Good value for money.
Everything about our stay was excellent
No complaints
It was very clean, very comfortable and the location was excellent. So too was breakfast with a variety of options and nicely cooked.
Car parking is available but is also very tight. It could be made clear in the online information that the stairs may present a problem for people with restricted mobility.
The quiet room and very good breakfast
Nothing
Amazing location, right in the centre of beautiful Tewkesbury with everything on the doorstep
Lovely place, very clean, great location, breakfast was lovely would definitely stay again!! 🙂
Didn't not like anything
Second stay here, owner pays great attention to the little details. Town centre location so you can walk to pubs, restaurants etc
Parking is a little tricky but there are nearby public car parks. Maybe offer bigger breakfasts as a suggestion, husband doesn’t eat tomato or mushrooms, so his breakfast was just 1 of each sausage, bacon, egg & beans where he’d normally have 2 of everything.
Very comfortable B&B Convenient location opposite Tewkesbury Abbey Excellent breakfast
Unable to check in before 4pm Cramped car park but there is plenty of public parking available
This property is perfectly located to explore Tewkesbury. It is just across the road from the Abbey and right in the centre of the ‘old’ town and the lovely restaurants and bars (Salerno - fabulous Italian 👍). There are no lifts, so if you’re up on the 2nd floor it’s a bit of a hike up very windy stairs. The room was spotless, very comfortable bed, and plenty of teas, coffee, biscuits etc. Great breakfast with a good selection.
This property would have been a 10 had it not been for the parking. We arrived around 6pm and all of the 5 spaces in the very tight car park were already taken. We managed to get a space in the public car park across the road, but had to pay. Not a deal breaker, but something to be aware of.
Parking, room, breakfast and location near both river and abbey all added up to very good value. Communication with our host, Joan Lau, was very good and she warned us about the heatwave, offering to allow us to postpone our visit as there was no air conditioning at the property. Unfortunately this was not an option for us. To minimize our discomfort, fans and refreshments were readily offered.
The lack of air conditioning to cope with heatwaves. Jessop House is a historic building so, understandably, it lacks some of the features of modern hotels.
Really liked the history of the building. Stunning room, very spacious and beautifully decorated. Bed was exceedingly comfortable. Right in the town centre, so easy to get to all sites and shops. Hostess very welcoming and attentive.
Parking was limited, so you ended up being blocked in and had to wait for a guest to move their car to let you out. Not really a problem but something to be aware of. But at the end of the day it was brilliant having a car park in the middle of a town.
The lady was exceptionally nice and service oriented. She went out of her way to accommodate us, even things we did not ask for or need, such as the two rooms we booked being close together.
This is not a 4 star accommodation. It was nice enough but a bit tired, no aircon, very cramped breakfast room, uneven floors (so much so that we had to rearrange the mattress with extra pillows underneath it to avoid sleeping "head down"). Stacked car park so you have to make arrangements with other guests in order to get your car out. Very noisy on the street side, which are supposed to be the best rooms. Granted the weather was exceptionally hot, but still not a comfortable experience. Sleep came at a premium between 4 and 8 a.m.
Very well cared for b+b. Joan was very friendly and did do her best to help on everything we asked of her.
Would have liked enclosed bike storage and a way of charging my bike fully but we made do.
It was spotless Jessops house is a very old building with a lot of history Rooms lovely as was the breakfast
Nothing
Good location , very clean rooms with good facilities. Excellent service and lovely breakfast.
Free parking a bonus but very tight spaces for today’s large cars, had to disturb another guest to get our car out.
Central location in the town great breakfast and friendly staff
Nothing
Room was clean comfortable and just very nice. Breakfast was excellent. The owner was extremely pleasant
The stairs nearly killed us!!!
Beautifully kept, amazing welcome and freely luxurious
Nothing not to like!
Location
Old building and difficult stair access, limited car parking

Very central location Restaurants pubs and cafes very close by. Very clean Attention to the smallest detail throughout
The stairs weren’t impossible but I didn’t find them easy
Location was perfect; right in the town centre. Room was comfortable and very clean. Excellent breakfast.
Parking was tricky but at least there was some!
Clean friendly comfortable, definitely over to consider if you're in the location.
Beautiful property with original features. Room was spotless and well equipped with added extras. Bed was comfortable and quality bedding. Breakfast was superb - quality ingredients and brands.
The only downside for us was the parking, which had very tight parking bays, limited spaces and obstructed other guests. An inconsiderate guest opened their car door into ours leaving a mark, which we weren’t impressed with. If we visited again, we would park in the public car park which is a small walk away, reasonably priced with larger parking bays.
Stunning old property over the road from the abbey. Joan is an excellent host. And the breakfast was great as well, Would definitely recommend
Not an issue for us but for some the stairs maybe an issue. As this is an old property you’re not going to get a lift.
This is a beautiful old house, which has been decorated with exquisite taste, and yet retains its historic charm and has modern amenities. We loved it. Breakfast was very good, a well cooked breakfast and a generous buffet. The owner is super friendly and helpful.
The parking is a little tricky, but we managed easily.
Everything was ok
En suite was a little cramped
Joan was supportive from before we arrived until departure, and her breakfast was superb. The room was well laid out and supremely comfortable. The location in Tewkesbury was ideal for easy walk to restaurants and the Abbey.
I had no issues. Some guests have complained about the tight parking space on the property. With goodwill (which was readily forthcoming) from our host and others, and care, this was not an issue.
Joan was an excellent host, very flexible and arranged for an early check in for us

The proprietor Joan made individual hot dishes every day and provided a cold buffet for breakfast. We chose the king poster room as we were staying for 9 days. The room size and accommodations were what we wanted. Bed had pressed sheets that made the bed even more comfortable. Property improvements assured us of filtered water, adequate electrical outlets and comfortable sleeping conditions.
The parking is tight but that can't be helped. Larger cars can park in a nearby parking area.

Immaculate condition. Every little extra you could think of. Best cooked breakfast I’ve had.
Nothing.
An excellent location and a welcoming host. Everything was clean and comfortable. The breakfast was excellent with a wonderful variety of fresh fruit.
It is an old property so some of the stairs were narrow and could prove difficult. It would be worth checking this with the very helpful host when booking. This is not something I did not like as it caused me no problem.
Excellent all round .no negatives

Fint område, flott fuglesang, god frokost, kjekt på alle måte...

We have stayed a few times and cannot fault the facilities. The hotels location is perfect and the place is impeccable. Will stay again.
Very welcoming and hospitable host. Beautiful room. Perfect location for our needs.

Beautiful property with lovely features, lovely owner and special service
Absolutely nothing
Gorgeous room with 4 poster bed at the front of the house. Lovely breakfast with exceptional veggie sausages. Great location opposite the Abbey - with a view from our bedroom m.
Mooie locatie pal naast de Abdij, comfortabele kamer, goed ontbijt
A lovely, historical house, excellently located within easy walking distance of the town centre. Superb host who went above and beyond to make our stay enjoyable. Great breakfast with good range of options and vegan adaptations were appreciated. Exceptionally clean rooms, with drinks facilities, and bedding was of high-quality too. The hotel is opposite the Abbey, so guests do hear the bells chime 😊! Parking is limited, but considerate guests help to negotiate access well. Would certainly return.
Parking is limited, so it's on a 'first come, first served basis.'
Location, parking & breakfast
It was cold, we had no heating in our room.
Great Location
Cleanliness, breakfast, furniture, decor
Parking was tight
Great breakfast. Spacious room with huge superking comfortable bed. Very clean. Great location right opposite the abbey.
Nothing.
Super clean and comfortable. Joan was very helpful
Tricky staircases - I managed but wish I had known.
Location was very central Good to have some parking Host was really good making sure our room was warm enough and we had everything we needed Breakfast was very good good variety Super comfortable bed
Nothing
bed was great, room very nice, good location, good breakfast
parking was a little inconvenient,no actual ensuite-toilet and shower in two separate tiny rooms
Very clean, lovely furnishings, comfortable bed and bedding, very good breakfast . Excellent location , for the old town and good restaurants.
Parking , fraught . For a 5 stat B&B I was expecting dressing gown and washcloth to be provided but they weren’t Also biscuits and tea and milk supplies were basic .
Excellent dinning experience
I can’t think of anything that would improve my experience I had at the Jessop Hotel
What a lovely B&B in the historic town of Tewkesbury. Joan, the owner, went out of her way to make us comfortable and ensure a pleasant stay, from accepting a package we needed to have sent to the property to turning on the heat early when she knew we would be in the room during the day. The breakfast options were plentiful and cooked to order each morning. This was one of our best B&B stays in the UK. Because we have family in the area, I expect we will be back!
Room was superb, breakfast freshly cooked and very well presented, only had a short time to enjoy the surroundings.
Parking very tight and a bit difficult due to size of yard.
Loved everything about guesthouse was a lovely comfortable stay. Only hiccup we had was the parking. It was small and quickly the spaces were taken, we were fortunate as we have relatives close by and were able to walk to visit. But location is very central to town so once parked up you didn’t really need to use cars shops all within walking distance.
Excellent B&B located opposite the abbey. Lovely little town. Very nice breakfast.
Only negative is that parking is very limited. They have essentially three spaces for eight rooms. We were boxed in for the two days we were there, which wasn't a problem as we were exploring Tewkesbury on foot. But, imagine an emergency or just even wanting to drive to a restaurant booking elsewhere.
Warm greeting, spotless room, and a lovely breakfast.
N/A
Everything. Jean the host, the location, the homely feeling, the cleanliness, the breakfast.
There is nothing I didn't like.
Hotel services were good. Room comfortable, breakfast adequate, staff helpful.
Car parking was a nightmare. Insufficient spaces at hotel, no spaces in small town car park, no parking on street, only option long stay car park with difficult overnight payment (resulting in £100 penalty!). Better out-of-town options are available.
Room and breakfast were of a high standard and owner was very kind and informative
Due to some disability it was an effort to get to our room (3 flights) In description of property it was not mentioned that being a very old and listed property it is not possible for a lift to be fitted and our room was on top floor. However, room was very clean and comfortable and if stairs are not a problem would highly recommend the venue.
Clean comfortable and everything you need had been thought about
Nothing
Historical
No obvious sign in the carpark that it belongs to Jessop House
It's in a very convenient location. The owner is friendly and helpful. The property is spotlessly clean and very comfortable.
The room was lovely . Parking space . Great location to explore Tewksbury. Delicious breakfast
Nothing to dislike .
Proximity to Tewkesbury very close, the breakfast delicious
Location and history of the house. Comfortable room and bed. Parking available.
All a bit fussy - decor and rules. Found myself apologising for my misdemeanours (going through the wrong door!)
Did not partake of breakfast as it was served too late for me.
An offer of earlier breakfast or a snack to take with me.
Jessop house is just what you expect from a town like Tewksbury, with lots of history and old fashioned features, however the owners have worked very hard to create a modern and high quality decor and comfort, without losing its features. Everything you need for a cosy stay is provided and the breakfast was amazing and so well prepared and cooked. It’s a lovely location being opposite the Abbey away from the busy and louder area of the town centre, convenient parking in the rear courtyard made the stay even nicer.
Everything was excellent, nothing to dislike.
very central - lovely room - good breakfast - friendly host. grade 2 listed building so i understand no structural alterations possible, small toilet area with sink in bedroom and lovely shower but again open cupboard and there it was .
room layout at first but got used to it. it was well fitted out and very comfortable
Room and facilities were spotlessly clean, Bed was comfortable and breakfast was tasty.
Nada
Very interesting old house but with all modern facilities.Room was lovely and very comfortable. Breakfast was very good in pretty dining room. Joan was so helpful.
The choice was excellent something for all tastes well presented all done by the owner very nice 👍

Excellent breakfast very well presented
Absolutely nothing everything was excellent
Location
All was good
No hand-wash basin in Bathroom it was in Bedroom not very good at all.!!
As above. Room small also.
Room and bathroom good size. Good location. Very good breakfast
Two flights of stairs to get to the room. Parking at rear of property was not clear how to find it, and also very tight
Excellent location with parking in a nice part of town close to the river. Rooms were of good size and comfort and breakfast was excellent. Host made sure we had everything we needed.
Amazing welcoming place to stay in Tewkesbury
