Trethorne Hotel & Golf Club

Accommodation was 400 yards walk outside to reception, bar & restaurant & very noisy with traffic close by the window. Room 28 had a large cylinder tank in a cupboard in the bedroom which was also noisy. There was no fire exit on the first floor or alternative stair case.

Well the room we booked was in a small cottage someway from the main building. Unfortunately this meant we were right next to the busy main road, which was pretty noisy, not only that but there seemed to be a complete lack of internal soundproofing. You shouldn't be able to hear conversation from the room above or snoring from the adjoining room. All in all disappointing and no matter how nice the staff a poor night's sleep is no good. Wouldn't stay there again.

A restful overnight stay in rooms within a golf course setting. The clubhouse hosted a bar and restaurant a couple minutes walk from our bedroom. The staff were charming and pleasant. The bedroom was comfortable and relaxing, very quiet.

There wasn't so much for toddlers to do unfortunately and the soft play was shut. But it was raining outside.

Stayed in room 34, Room had a very noisy water pump in the loft space that went off every time someone turned on a tap or flushed the toilet. Coving in the restaurant was covered in spiders webs and spiders nest and dust. Looks like cleaning is only carried out up to eye level.

The food was excellent, and the restaurant service was satisfactory. The reception staff were welcoming. It was also a great bonus to have breakfast included.

Wet room was not so clean, mouldy in the shower area, doors had black greasy fingerprints along the opening side. No mention from the staff of the leisure centre, neither advised if the hotel guests can use it.

Staff were a little abrupt and not particularly welcoming, cleanliness wasn't great, specifically the door going to the restaurant was black instead of white/cream so if things that are clearly visible aren't clean then what can I expect elsewhere, the room wasn't ready for the stated 3pm... We were given keys about 3.40pm. the breakfast was dreadful - not even sure the sausages were cooked so didn't eat them, bacon was so over done it couldn't be cut with a knife, nothing was enjoyable. The atmosphere was uncomfortable. Room needed a lick of pain and a spruce up, dated. Things like the radiator was very rusty, black mould around the bath, shower pipe leaked when on, the worktops were damaged (clearly for some time). Bed was so soft/unsupportive I still have a bad back 2 days later. The tray where the tea and kettle sat was dirty so I definitely didn't use any of these. Just a negative experience all round.

It was great to find out there was activities on site. My partner loved the fact it had a good size smart TV to relax to after a long day out. Parking almost right outside the room.

The pressure for the shower was poor. The were webs and dpiders in the corners of the bathroom and burnt iron mark on the carpet bedroom. The room temperature was very hot but there was a fan and air conditioning unit. Evertime someone came into the building we stayed in our door rattled despite it being locked. The pillows were quite flat. Breakfast was okay bit we quickly got tired of a full English despite it being a buffet. The eggs were very oily and hash brown overcooked. I asked for poached eggs which were hard yolks and had to wait a long time for it to arrive. The double bed were two singles pushed together so there was an uncomfortable divide in the middle when we wanted to cuddle.

It was a very nice property, the food in the restaurant and the staff were very good, and not overly expensive.

Its not disability friendly, the approach to reception is up hill and not smooth underfoot. The rooms are scattered and very far from the restaurant.

Staff were brilliant, a young team but exceptional service. Breakfast was included in the price and was very good, full English as well as other options. We were a group of 3 on a motorbike tour around Cornwall so ate at the restaurant for our evening meal so as not to have to go out again. The evening meal was varied and again very good. The room was large, and very clean and the bed was extremely comfortable.

The only small moan, was our room was next to a road and you could hear the traffic, but if staying again, I'd request a room away from the main road.

I enjoyed my breakfast and you made my husband some porridge. Only complaint fried eggs.

I have visited many times and stayed a few years ago. The rooms have been refurbished and overall the quality was very good and good value.

Only niggle our room was close to the road which was a bit noisy.

The food was great for dinner and the breakfast options were superb. The staff in the food and bar area and reception were spot on. It was nice to have air conditioning in the room however it was very dust initially when we turned it on.

We did not realise the room we stayed in would be right next to the entrance and the main road so it was continuously noisy. And the windows weren't great as they have trickle vents so do not keep the noise out.

Air conditioning in the room

I chose the location because of its proximity to various places in Cornwall, but a car is a must, since there is nothing much within walking distance of the accommodation. The room was OKish, a bit on the small size. There are ample of parking spaces. The food at the restaurant is good and so is the breakfast.

The room that we were staying was some distance from the main building where breakfast was served. But the walk is a nice one. The complex is huge and the main building itself is not well signed. There was a car parked in front of the tiny sign and we missed it and finished going round the whole complex trying to find where to sign in.

Good breakfast - very hot and tasty. It would have been a bonus to have had some fresh fruit salad options. There was not any non-dairy milk alternatives. Overall, a very good breakfast though. The room was comfortable, and well appointed, all good.

There was either a fan or boiler from a neighbouring room, or central service, which kept kicking in from very early morning (around 5.30am) til later - which was quite disruptive to sleep. Otherwise all good.

Staff were friendly and helpful, they couldn’t do more for us.

When the other guests came we could hear there every step from downstairs which woke some of us up, we expected better sound insulation

Because we booked through booking .com, were unaware that there was no free entrance to the park. although there was a discount It clearly states on the internet stay and play with free entrance to the leisure centre

This hotel is situated on a main route so needs little deviation if you are passing it on route to another destination. Good food and drink onsite. Parking outside your room.

The score for location took some thinking about. As mentioned in the positives it is ideally located on a main road if you want a 1 night stop going further on. However, the key phrase there is "located on a main road ". It literally lies alongside the main road and is quite noisy at peak times. All the rooms are less than 30 metres from the road. Beware the postcode - our satnav took us to an adjacent industrial estate (I know that might just be ours, but it happened).

Ci e' stata data una stanza per disabili senza che fosse segnalato come possibile. Le foto della mia prenotazione non erano di stanza per disabili. Quindi: lavandino piccolo ad altezza coscia (mi dovevo inginocchiare per lavarmi il viso), wc al contrario molto alto. Nessun, ribadisco, NESSUN piano di appoggio in bagno. Doccia che faceva allagare tutto il bagno. Asciugamani che perdevano pezzettini di stoffa tanto che mia figlia per mettersi le lenti a contatto ha dovuto asciugarsi le mani con dei fazzolettini. Odore di chiuso in camera, persistente anche dopo avere aperto la finestra. Vetri della finestra molto sporchi. Il materasso sfondato ai lati. Prima di verificare tutto questo, quindi appena entrata in camera vedendo che era per disabili, ho richiesto un cambio stanza ma mi e' stato detto che erano al completo. Mi guardavano come se stessi creando un problema inutile. Ero molto arrabbiata. Sono uscita e mentre lo facevo il personale alla reception e' scoppiato a ridere sguaiatamente. Sono rientrata chiedendo spiegazioni... ovvio mi e' stato detto che non era rivolta a me. Siiii certo. Ho richiesto di parlare con un superiore ma mi e' stato detto che non era possibile. La stanza non era nello stabile principale quindi per colazione bisogna camminare esternamente per raggiungerla. Non ho ricevuto alcun tipo di supporto. Ho pagato per una stanza che non ho avuto.

Communication from reception was very good and understanding when I explained my situation. All restaurant staff were very helpful and understanding. Evening food was excellent and good value. Breakfast was good. Room very comfortable with some minor niggles.

Bathroom light cord kept getting trapped in the door to Bathroom. This could be resolved by feeding cord through a screw eye in the wall. Pillows very thin. If not busy cook eggs to order so they don't get hard on the hot plate.

Lovely large room with very comfortable bed and amazing shower. Good breakfast. Great location.

The food was absolutely excellent! Much better than we expected. Ample parking, good shower, comfortable bed and nice view. No aircon but windows open wide and a fan was provided. Staff were all friendly and very helpful. Breakfast was excellent with a good choice of cooked and continental.

It’s a little dated in places but the room, although small was very clean and had good facilities.

Great location near the dual carriageway, lovely air conditioned room, spotlessly clean with a superb bathroom with water hot enough to make a cup of tea with!! The self serve breakfast was superb as was the evening meal that we had. Thank you for a lovely overnight stay.

As with many places, the ridge between the beds was awful and definitely needed a thick mattress topper. We would rather have had a standard double bed with no join. We will try and avoid rooms that have a twin or large double option in future as we’ve had this a few times now.

Good communication. Staff were very accommodating about keeping our restaurant table available when our arrival was delayed. Nice cooked breakfast with plenty of juices and tea/coffee.

Not so much didn't like, as what improvements would make things even better. Air conditioning would have been very welcome, as we stayed when it had been very warm. I appreciate that this would be a significant investment for the property for something that would not be needed that often. A refrigerator for chilling drinks would also have been useful. Some very large pot holes in the car park need urgently repairing.

Es spielte am diesem Abend England und es war im Restaurant und draußen sehr voll mit Fans von England. Verständlicherweise. Trotzdem wurde sehr um uns gekümmert. Die Bedienungen waren sehr freundlich und haben uns jeden Wunsch erfüllt. Es hat uns super gefallen. Wir würden jederzeit wieder dort übernachten.

Convenient for our purpose

Fire alarm was activated around five am and it was over an hour before anyone attended despite calling the emergency number provided so a long hour waiting outside

Very nice place to stay, very good restaurant on site, friendly and helpfull staff. Best walk in showers, and rooms overall very good.

The only minus was that there was no air conditioning, and it was poorly ventilated rooms (we stayed during extreme heat days)

Bedding too thick for summer. Too hot. Another guest dinged our rental car outside cottages, but left no note. Suggest drawing lines in car parks to aid people to park sensibly.

Unfortunately the double bed was not comfortable. It seemed like it was broken from one side. Which meant I spent most of the night waking due to being uncomfortable.

Really nice and clean we had for 3person . No regrets what we choose this property for one night. We recommend it 👍
