Provider-sourced guest reviews.
Our whole experience was magical. We recently celebrated our Anniversary and choosing Last Word was a great choice of a place to spend our time. The staff is very friendly, helpful & accommodating. Love this place we will return there.
Everything was wonderful.
What an incredible place to stay! The breakfast was unbelievable. I would highly recommend this place to stay - home away from home.
The location is very central and the gardens are lovely.
The noisy gate and reception area.
The first thing you see when entering is how beautifully decorated the hotel is. The bedrooms did not disappoint, everything is so carefully designed. The staff were incredible and friendly. We loved the turn down service, each night we had hot water bottles, hot chocolate and a pudding waiting for us.
Staying at The Last Word Constantia was a wonderfully luxurious experience for us. The hotel is situated just outside the town centre so not to busy. When they showed us the ‘room’ we thought there was a mistake because that was not exactly a room, more a spacious apartment with a sitting room, king size bed and the most beautiful shower and bathroom we have ever seen in a hotel room! A fully stocked fridge with soft drinks , water and milk, complimentary bottles of wine and even free gin and tonic was available. The hotel doesn’t offer diner so we went out to eat at the restaurant next door, Peddlars, which was pretty good. After we returned from dinner, our room was softly lit, heated, there were hot water bottles in bed, we found two creme brulees for us… amazing level of service! The staff and management is extremely helpful and friendly. Breakfast is served in a beautiful area and must be the best breakfast we had on our whole trip. The only ‘downside’ to it, it was pretty cold in the morning, despite the roaring fire. This isn’t a criticism per se because that’s South African winter for ya: cold nights and balmy days. The Last Word Constantia was for us the best hotel experience we ever had. We nirmally don’t stay in really upmarket accommodations but this was next level for us. We van wholeheartedly recommend staying here!
Exceptional - the location was perfect for what we needed - there were also several beautiful walks that could be accessed from the property, plus the handy restaurant for a quick meal next door. The hotel itself was so attentive to your needs and the fine details made for an amazing stay - turn down included hot water bottles and a dessert, just lovely! The breakfasts were incredible too, a lot of food but very high quality. The staff were fabulous, going above and beyond to help
Not much comes to mind! One of the managers (?) though was very loud and wasn’t very aware of it (shouting/arguing with staff so that guests could hear) but maybe it was a bad day. It didn’t impact the stay
From the moment we arrived at Last Word Constantia, we knew this was somewhere special. What a wonderful hotel a beautiful property with stunning rooms and truly exceptional service throughout our stay. The small touches are what really make this place stand out, from the honesty bar and delicious bake of the day to the amazing turndown service each evening. Everything was thoughtfully done and made us feel completely looked after. Breakfast was beautifully presented and tasted wonderful every morning. The staff were absolutely amazing warm, attentive, and always willing to go the extra mile. We honestly can’t recommend this hotel enough and would happily return again.
The staff were exceptional
Thank you to Vaughn and the exceptional team at The Last Word. This is our second hotel in The Last Word chain that we have stayed in. Again, we had an amazing experience. I highly recommend this property if you are looking for exceptional customers service, a relaxing environment and beautifully decorated rooms. There are many extra touches that make this a 5 star experience.
Fantastisch hotel. Ruime kamer en zeer ruime shower. 2 TV en weelderig aangekleed. Restaurant om de hoek. Alleen maar lof
Niets vel tegen, het was allemaal zeer goed.
Everything! What a stunning and warm little gem. It literally felt like a taste of home. The staff was welcoming and they are pleasantly generous with the welcome treats, fully stocked and replenished bar as well as the afternoon tea and cake! The breakfast spread was well put together and delish! The rooms are spacious and have a great pathway to the garden.
There’s no restaurant for lunch/dinner on site but they is one nearby that offers room service - this worked out well!!!
Arrived at night driving from the airport and was a bit wary at the unassuming entrance. The suite was very large and comfy, but the magic started in the morning. We woke to the sound of birds, overlooking a beautiful garden and light streaming in. Then a lovely breakfast with a table facing the garden. We had a car and were on a first leg of a golf trip later to Fancourt. Steenberg golf club is nearby and was a lovely day out. Other vineyards and the Kirstenbosch National Botanical Garden were also close. Loved our 3 night stay which was in the largest suite - which was really very spacious and comfortable. Staff are amazing, and very well stocked drinks bar (honesty system) was a welcome relief after a long day out. This was a wonderful boutique hotel which we will come back to. Highly recommended.
One of the nicest, prettiest places we have ever stay. The staff was outstanding.
O estilo , conforto e café da manhã
We love everything about Last Word, the attention to detail, the warm welcome, the furnishing and all the lovely staff
There wasn’t anything we didn’t like
Nichts
The position is optimal and the guesthouse and garden are lovely. The evening turn down was a special touch.
The room definitely needs some TLC the carpet was filthy, extractor fan not working, the bathroom shutter doors broken and fridge freezer over freezing. The reception was very noisy and unfortunately our room was near enough for it to be disturbing.
Absolutely gorgeous and the staff were super professional and helpful. Really luxurious!!!
Very secluded, beautiful garden, amazing staff and spacious rooms.
Nothing
Relaxed atmosphere Nice decour, staff very helpful Breakfast excellent Very helpful and asking if our 8 yr old was happy Lovely welcome and departure Family room was epic Little extras puddings on the bed in the evening !

Friendly staff, comfortable and very large room and nice gardens. Great value for money.

A luxury boutique hotel made for relaxing and enjoyment. Great team servicing only 9 well appointed rooms Very easy to understand why regulars return year after year Very attractive pool and gardens
This hotel is fabulous, from start to finish you cannot fault it. We loved our stay. The hotel and gardens are the height of luxury, charming staff.
Nothing
Excellent from start to finish, we wished we could have stayed longer. We stayed 3 x nights during our Namibia and South Africa holiday. The location is perfect for getting into the city about a 30 mins Uber ride but it’s wonderful to come back to this hidden gem of a boutique hotel. They have 9 rooms / suites which are huge and luxurious, most are located on the ground floor and 2 on the second floor and are beautifully furnished. Perfect garden oasis with a lovely quiet pool area. The staff are professional, friendly and very knowledgeable Vaughan and Candice were a great help and the rest of the staff were polite and always had a smile.
Garten, Freundliches Personal
Renovierungsbedürftig, abgewohnt, Qualität des Frühstücks
We stayed for the first couple of days of our honeymoon. This is the most luxurious, friendly hotel at which I have ever stayed. Lovely spacious rooms, superb breakfasts and delicious G&Ts by the pool. Great host (Vaughan) too.
Amazing service, better than expected. The staff offered anything good to make our stay unforgettable. A quiet pool area and gardens inspire tranquility and relaxation. Extra spacious rooms. Breakfast is fantastic. Overall, a very value for money choice. Perfect location.
Nothing I can think of.
Everything- including the welcome creme brulee’s and gin station in our room.
Nothing to dislike
All the staff were exceptionally helpful and friendly Extremely comfortable bed Great shower Very good choice of drinks Good breakfast Lovely glass of wine on arrival The pool area was super Vaughan and his team were brilliant
No negatives - all good Wish we could have stayed longer!
Wow! What a great last minute booking that saved us. We was created upon arrival by one of the staff and the customer service from the very start right to the end was outstanding. The hotel, grounds and room etc was decorated beautifully. Could have stayed here all day enjoying the garden and pool area even just the room it was that nice and breakfast included was exceptional and really filled me up all day until the evening. Highly recommended hotel we will come back and stay here 100%
Large room and huge bathroom. Outside the room the lounge and bar area is comfortable and ample outdoor seating. Handy for everything in Constantia.
Loved our stay here, even though it was just one night, wished we could stay longer. We’ll definitely return next time we’re in SA. Large comfortable rooms, friendly helpful staff. Nice garden and pool area. Great breakfast. Handy for everything in Constantia and beyond.
Excellent experience right from our late arrival where we were served a chilled glass of wine and greeted with a delicious crème brûlée in our room. The room was large and well presented. There was a garden theme running through the hotel reflecting the lovely garden setting and nice pool. You could get drinks anytime and cake at 4 in the dining room! The breakfast was really good, scotch egg was worth the wait.
Zeer elegant kleinschalig guesthouse/hotel met Klassiek Engelse inrichting met prachtige tuin
The bath tub! Free wine! Super comfy bed!
It was nice but in a retirement home kind of way, I felt like I was staying with my grandma. Also the AC unit in our room (7) made a lot of super annoying noise.
Booked this hotel for my parents to celebrate a birthday. The hotel went above and beyond, celebrating with a chocolate cake at breakfast and local wine in the room. The hotel really surpassed our expectations!
Having just stayed at the Plet in Plettenberg bay, our favourite hotel, I have to say The Last Word is very much up there. Service is second to none, the room huge and it was a bonus to have an outside area to sit in to have a gin from our own gin station ! Breakfast was excellent, even buffet lovers like us found it pretty good ! Hard to fault and will certainly return if we come back to SA.
Amazing stay! The room was huge — with a playroom too — and incredible value for money. Great breakfast and definitely the biggest room we’ve stayed in Cape Town!
From the minute you arrive to the minute you leave everything and everyone is perfect. Our room (number 4) was enormous. It is basically one very large room with a lounge area and then the bedroom area and then the bathroom with a sliding door so it can be shut off. There are doors opening onto the garden and swimming pool. The staff are extremely friendly and helpful. There is plenty of choice for breakfast with anything cooked freshly prepared. In summary a fantastic place to stay.
TV interface old fashioned with no streaming/ Netflix. But it was also nice to read a book and relax.
The room was large and spacious and the welcoming team ( Ricardo ) was friendly and very helpful .
At 5 am the cleaning staff called the room to find out when I will be checking out ( as I had arranged for a pre packed breakfast and had said I wanted to leave by 6:45 )
Great Boutique Hotel, very comfortable and felt very well looked after. This Hotel gives you easy access to anywhere you want go but is also situated a little way out so you are not bang in the middle of all the hustle and bustle. Staff were very helpful and even when a problem was encountered (thru no ones fault) it was attended to immediately and resolved very quickly. Unfortunately we found we had no hot water on arrival but as soon as reported the service people were called in and they offered to move us if a resolution was not found immediately. The room, well rather the Suite was so spacious! Everything was open plan but there was a folding divider that could be pulled across if you wanted. The main area had underfloor heating and disposable slippers were provided for the bathroom area which did not. Bottled water was provided by the bedside and toiletries included were of a high standard and there were also doors opening to the outside area. Lovely gardens to wander thru or sit beside the pool. Breakfast was served in a lovely light room overlooking the gardens and the old provided was again to a very high standard. Each afternoon one could sit in the lounge area to enjoy afternoon Tea and Cakes. A very extensive Honour Bar was also available in the lounge. Negatives: The TV in the Bedroom was very very old , looked like one of the original thick LED TV's and one would expect, for a hotel of this standard, for it to be a smart TV that you could connect your own devices or streaming accounts to but they only had an attached satellite device and the reception was not the best. The whole hotel does look rather "tired" in places with cracked floor tiles and cracks in ceilings and walls but one can be forgiving of this and consider it to give more of a "shabby Chic" appearance than anything else and all the other lovely features do tend to counter this. It would not put me off from returning.
A small and unique hotel, quietly setting exceptional standards
The hotel is setup to reflect a stay in a private home, albeit with the facilities of a first class boutique hotel
Great Comfort. Lovely Breakfast. Friendly Staff
It may be difficult to spend a full day at the hotel for some as it does not have all the facilities that a large hotel comprises off. Note: This did not effect our stay
The accommodation was amazing!!!
Nothing only the under floor heating wasn't working. But still love the place
Sehr gepflegte Zimmer, superschöne Gartenanlage, tolles Frühstück.
Loved absolutely everything about this place. Was like a luxurious home away from home
Beautiful tranquil setting, very good value for money, amazing breakfast and the staff were absolutely incredible.
Our enormous family room needed a bit of TLC
Our stay at the Last Word Constantia was truly exceptional, and one of the standout aspects was the incredible staff. From the moment we arrived, we were made to feel welcome and well taken care of. Everyone we encountered was friendly, professional, and genuinely eager to ensure our stay was perfect. The staff went above and beyond – offering local recommendations, assisting with any questions promptly, and always greeting us with a smile. It's clear they take great pride in what they do, and it really made a difference in our overall experience. A special ‘Thank you’ to Kim and her great team for making our birthdays so special. Thank you to Samantha for granting our every breakfast need😊This is truly what typical South African hospitality is all about…guys you were great😊 Thank you to Widad for sorting out our accommodation😊 I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend this place, especially for those who appreciate warm hospitality and excellent customer service. We’re already looking forward to coming back!

Room was huge and tastefully decorated with thoughtful touches throughout

Can only support every positive review on here as it really is that good, the staff are brilliant, the rooms huge, the lounge just lovely and probably the best breakfast of any hotel we have ever stayed in anywhere. Struggling to say more, we only stayed one night as we were using it for a hire car drop off for a road trip from Cape Town airport which it was perfect for. Highly recommend and would happily return to stay longer. We enjoyed a visit to the word famous Kirstenbosch Botanic Gardens which are very nearby and an evening meal at a local vineyard which the hotel recommended and booked for us all very easy by uber.
Fantastic staff. Thank you to Kim and her team for looking after us so well. Gardens are beautiful.
The place was beautiful. Room was big and comfortable. They accommodated us with breakfast that was halaal friendly.
Amazing breakfast, well appointed rooms. Lovely lay out and very helpful staff.
This is a hidden gem in the middle of a busy suburb. The staff are friendly, the lounges and pool inviting, and the breakfast delicious. We will definitely return when we need to recharge our batteries.
Our mattress needs an upgrade as we can see that it has been used for many years with big dents.
16h00 coffee and cake were an amazing surprise. The dining room and lounge overlooking the lush garden are beautifully appointed. Wish we had stayed longer to be able to try all the breakfast options. All the staff went out of their way to make the visit pleasurable.
Wish we could stay longer.
We loved the cosy atmosphere, the big and comfortable room and the warm hospitality of the staff.
Very friendly and personal

Breakfast is fantastic
Needed some activities. And would have liked some food options for lunch and supper.
It was simply beautiful, and the rooms were so comfortable. Everything had been thought of. Special little touches. The staff were amazing. Absolutely loved this place.
Nothing. Loved it.
Location is great Staff are most helpful and friendly
All good
My nephew really enjoyed the place he said it was beautiful
The accommodation is luxurious and beautiful. We certainly felt pampered and welcome. The special touches are numerous and the staff members are clearly trained to make your stay as comfortable and enjoyable as possible. Breakfast was extensive, served with a view of the lush garden which is filled with tropical plants and trees. Plants and greenery are found throughout the hotel which makes for a wonderful feel. The only minor issue was the non functioning TV, which they we aware of, but the technical support staff member was not available to attend to it during our stay.
Exceptional service, beautiful venue
Nothing
I booked on behalf of colleagues from Austria who I was hosting. We always look for the best experience we can give our guests and Last Work Constantia has never disappointed us. Our guests enjoyed the breakfasts and the convenience of having Peddlars restaurant right next door. The complementary bottle of wine was a nice touch.
Nothing, all good!
This is a very special place in the Constantia suburbs of Cape Town. The garden is lush, and Room 8 is perhaps one of the best rooms we have stayed in at any hotel anywhere in the world. This is not the place to stay if you want a lot of local activity and shopping, but it is a place to rest, recuperate, and be pampered.
We had one major issue with our stay that could have resulted in a relocation and cancellation except that the hotel staff did a great job to accommodate us. Some months ago, the staff adopted a stray cat (perhaps a noble intention), but for guests like my wife, who has a severe and deathly allergy to cats, the presence of a feline in the common areas of the property made it impossible for us to enjoy the lounge areas and required our meals to be taken outside or in our room. The management understands the folly of allowing cats or dogs to roam freely in a public hotel space, and told me that they are in the process of finding a home for the cat. However, guests booking the Last Word Constantia should check ahead of time if there are concerns about cat allergies.
Even though we just stayed one night before our early flight it was lovely to relax in beautiful surroundings & comfy chairs

Great boutique hotel ; excellent service ; friendly staff. Brilliant stay
Nothing
Very friendly welcome, the property was beautifully manicured and welcoming, the complimentary bottle of wine was such a nice gesture and overall excellence. A very good breakfast with delicious options.
My partner is very tall and the standard length bed is always an issue, an extra length bed would be great.
