Provider-sourced guest reviews.
I rarely leave negative reviews, but my experience at Casa Cupula was so disappointing that I feel other travelers should be aware. When I checked out, I noticed my bill was much higher than expected. After reviewing it carefully, I found I had been charged nearly 3,000 to 4,000 MXN for pool food and drinks I never ordered, as well as minibar items I never consumed or even opened. If I had not gone through the bill line by line, I would have paid for charges that were not mine. When I questioned the charges, the staff initially insisted they were correct. However, they quickly removed thousands of pesos from my bill. No one apologized or acknowledged the mistake. The situation became much worse when I spoke with the guest services representative, Pedro. Instead of handling the issue professionally, he called me “playing the victim,” “a drama queen,” “dirty,” and “uneducated.” He dismissed my concerns and never apologized. I was supposed to stay one more night, but after being overcharged and spoken to this way, I no longer felt comfortable staying at the hotel. Even under these circumstances, they refused to refund my final night. Mistakes can happen, but what matters is how they are handled. In my case, there was no accountability, no apology, and no attempt to make things right. I left feeling disrespected and unwelcome. Based on my experience, I cannot recommend Casa Cupula. I strongly encourage future guests to carefully review every charge on their bill before checking out.
After several times visiting PVR Casa Cupola will always be my choice for accommodations. Some will say it’s to far away from the zone. It’s not far at all. I walk to the beach in about 15 minutes. An uber or taxi back from the zone was less the five dollars and about a ten minute trip. That short distance will place you in a secluded quiet place. On one trip to PVR I decided to stay at one of the well known LGBT hotels directly on the beach. It was a mistake. The condition of this beach front hotel made it apparent that Casa Cupula is a much greater value. Casa Cupala is well maintained, the rooms at Casa Cupala are tastefully decorated. No all look alike cookie cutter rooms. The staff at Casa Cupala do a great job. The bar tenders at the Pool Club deliver great service. The on site restaurant provides quality food at a reasonable price. There is a covered outdoor patio at the restaurant which is a delightful setting for outdoor dining. I look forward to seeing the staff when I return in late August. Casa Cupala will always be my choice for accommodations when in PVR.
The Best place to stay In PV hands down! OMG we had such a good time. Firstly we booked the Frida Suite. It is a beautiful one bedroom suite with amazing views of water and land. The beautiful architecture of city meets the ocean. Amazing sunrise, amazing sunset. The hotel had poolside dining and entertainment each of our 7 night stay. One person that made our stay special is Osvaldo. Osvaldo waited on us and greeted us each morning at breakfast. He made sure our meals were prepared well and ensured we had what we needed. Osvaldo was so accommodating, helpful and nice that it was like I was in PV visiting him. 😂😂😂. The entire team was awesome. If you’re looking for night life the team at Casa Cúpula will help you find the best time in those Zona Romántica streets. When you go to Casa Cúpula look for Osvaldo, he will take care of you. My experience was a 10/10.
I had the absolute pleasure of staying here in the Bella Vista Suite for the past week. The suite was spacious with a huge balcony overlooking the bay, a dining table for six, a full kitchen, and a king sized bed with a large bathroom (separate shower stall and bath) and plenty of storage space for 1. The staff at check-in were friendly, helped with luggage, and made the process very easy. The main pool area featured a taco restaurant that everyone enjoyed, and a bar that was staffed all day by handsome men who were very happy to get your drinks for you. I only wish that the bar was a little higher quality… pina coladas were made with a low quality mix rather than actually mixing together pineapple juice, cream of coconut and run. A minor point, but one they could improve. There was also a “secret garden” off the main pool where one could wonder for sexual intimacy. Nice to have everything you need in one place! But here’s the secret to this place … the atmosphere they create. Everyone in our group (of various body types and ages) felt amazingly welcome here, and the crowd was without attitude. It felt like one big gay family. The pool area was alive with loud music Thursday to Sunday when the hotel hosts special events … rooms close to the pool would be noisy (and are noted on the hotel’s website as such). The sense of family created here made the slightly run-down rooms disappear (for instance, the screen door on my balcony was torn in many places, so not very effective at keeping out bugs … why didn’t someone on the housekeeping staff report this to be repaired?). If you’re looking for new and glitzy, look elsewhere. If you’re looking for a fun gay scene with all types of men, who are there for a good time to enjoy with each other, that has a restaurant on site, and is literally a 10-minute walk into the gayborhood (or a $4 Uber ride as the walk into the gay village is straight downhill) this place rocks! I’ll be back, with pleasure, to this wonderful spot of gay positive energy!
WOW this place is gorgeous. I was here for the final 3 days of my trip and it was absolutely stunning. Israel handled check in and couldn’t have been friendlier. Extremely informative of the multiple amenities the hotel had to offer and the services at the hotel were as efficient as they were professional. Tucked away in the hills, so it is nice and secluded- while not being too far from the scene. The food at the Bistro was fantastic. The pool club was gorgeous and the views of the city/bay are spectacular. When I had a super minor injury the hotel staff was all over it. The ONLY reason I even mention it is because I am a firm believer that the way an establishment recovers from a mishap can earn a guest’s loyalty- and they absolutely have earned repeat visits out of me. Israel and Luis take wonderful care of their guests and I look forward to seeing them again next year.
My week in the Greenbelt Suite was excellent value. I had a super comfortable bed, huge walk-in shower, strong ac, fully equipped kitchen, large living room, and a private veranda perfect for reading and morning coffee overlooking the lush greenery. Every staff member was friendly and knowledgeable; all spoke fluent English. Breakfasts onsite were delicious and two massages by Eduardo in the spa were of an extremely high standard. Getting down the hill is easy and many of the best restaurants and bars in the Zona Romantica are a short stroll, but everyone should understand that the walk back up the hill can be challenging (cabs and Ubers are everywhere though) and there are many steps inside the hotel. This is easily the finest place I have ever stayed in PV and I would he happy to return for luxury and pampering
Casa Cúpula: A reflection of energy, not hospitality. My recent interaction with the owner revealed a level of hostility and projection that no traveler should experience. I canceled my trip during an active safety situation in Puerto Vallarta. Instead of understanding or professionalism, I received accusations, disrespect, and retaliatory behavior. When I responded with clarity and asserted my rights, the owner labeled me “aggressive,” even though my communication was direct, calm, and truthful. After processing the refund, his server blocked my email — confirming the avoidance and the lack of accountability. The last time I stayed there, I became sick for the final two days. This time, a cartel incident occurred on the exact days I was meant to arrive. That alignment was divine protection steering me away from a place that no longer aligns with my path. Hospitality is not just décor and branding. It is energy, humility, and how you treat people when circumstances shift. Casa Cúpula failed that test. Travelers deserve establishments that honor respect, not react with retaliation.
There’s nothing more disappointing than booking a PH suite at more than $400/day and having plumbing issue whereby you are standing in a shower with inches of regurgitated back-flow. That may have been overlooked, if it hadn’t been for unsatisfactory services to boot: 1) The hotel is on top of a steep cliff and walking to close by restaurants isn’t really an option for food and spa services. 2) never before have I had three toes bleed in one pedicure. The spa “technician” had the nerve to get an attitude when I asked him not to be so rough. To add to that, the foot bath was a cheap bucket brought out without electricity for a 5 minute plunge in an hour long session. 3) the food at the breakfast bistro was an epic failure. With only 3 other occupied tables at the time (all with food), I waited 30 minutes for scrambled eggs and hash browns. After asking 3 times about the status of my order, they finally brought out cold hash browns so soaked in cooking oil they were inedible. I left and paid in a rush to go to a yoga class of site. 4) the final nail in the coffin: upon checkout I notified the concierge Simon, who had been helpful from the beginning, of these issues. He assured me that they would make an accommodation via our chat message. I told the cashier about that upon checkout. He said Simon would take care of it after I closed out the bill. And of course, due to the “technicality” of the bill being closed out, I was told there was nothing they could do any longer! What a waste of money! Go stay at a real $400/night resort in PVR and get your money’s worth…because it didn’t happen for me here….
Perfect in every way. Incredibly well maintained, beautiful oasis, a place to relax and enjoy oneself, but slightly out of the downtown area. Easy access to the beach, and the hotel will even drive you there if you're not in the mood to walk down the hill. Our suite was amazing, and the staff could not be more welcoming and helpful. Not our first visit to Casa Cupula, and certainly not our last.
Nice room and friendly staff; very nice pool area for gay parties
Got the room under the pool area. Don’t book it if you want to sleep: from 8 am on Sunday morning I could hear a lot of noise above my head
A great experience all around. Our accommodations were roomy and comfortable. The food and drinks were tasty. The best part was the staff. Everyone went out of their way to make us feel welcome and comfortable. Highly recommend!
The property itself is so beautiful, clean, and a great deal for your vacation stay! I stayed 4 nights and the only complaint i jave is walking to and from romantic zone. If you dont mind walking ots about 12 min on foot but its kind of a workout back up the hill and stairs when its hot. Other tha. That the property was perfect. Restraunt had delicious cesar salad and civiche
Casa Cupula was an amazing experience. From Boris, Felix and the team at reception, to the bartenders and servers… the hospitality and friendly, welcoming culture was magic. Easy walk to the malecon and bars and restaurants. Will definitely be back.
What a fantastic find! We stayed at Casa Cupula last week and I am still in the afterglow. It is perched amongst a jungle-like setting (which means if you're walking to the nearby market you'll have to walk down a hill) and not directly in the zona romantica which is fine as who wants to be in the middle of everything all the time. The staff is very accommodating, very professional and laid back. They have a shuttle into town during daylight hours, so special judos to Angel who felt like our personal driver. They have two pools (one clothing optional), jacuzzis and one of the best hotel gyms I've seen. The grounds and hotel are spotless. The. best part? Our room (or should I say apartment) which had a living room, dining area, full kitchen and great master suite. Saturday afternoon is party time so all the local gays visited. A great hotel and time.
After arriving at Casa Cupola I quickly realized that I had made the correct choice in accomadations. The facility consists of an historic villa. The newer addition to the property demonstrates a tasteful blend of old and new. Rooms are more than sufficiently appointed. Towels are superior quality. The location is a bit off the beaten path creating a more tropical natural setting. Much more desirable than the concrete reality of nearby condo row. However it is only a very short Taxi or Uber ride to the nearby Romantica Zone. Wait time for ride share or a taxi was never more than 15 minutes. There is both a convenience store and pharmacy within walking distance. The onsite restaurant is available for breakfast and lunch and is extremely convenient. The gym is larger and better equipped than the average hotel gym. I did not take advantage of the services offered by the spa. I cannot say enough about the staff at Casa Cupola. Your stay at Casa Cupola will also be supporting an LGBT owned and operated business. The Saturday pool party and Sunday Brunch offered an opportunity for meeting and mingling with other hotel quests. Fortunately the hotel allows non quests to attend these events for a reasonable fee. I met several other Americans from nearby hotels or condos along with locals. I recall one couple from an all inclusive resort regretting that they had not booked at Casa Cupola. I have plans to return to PV and will definitely choose Casa Cupola for any return visits.
Excellent place to stay in . Friendly staff . Thank you
My room was spacious and the staff were super friendly. Great views of the beach.
Came out for the Saturday pool event — the host and the show were definitely the highlights! Super creative with great energy, interactive games, and an all-around fun atmosphere. Unfortunately, the bar was a different story. It felt disorganized and messy, and the cocktails were subpar. The server had a really unpleasant attitude. We left a $6 tip for four drinks, and he actually told us it wasn’t enough, which made the situation very uncomfortable. To top it off, his uniform was messy and had food stains, which didn’t exactly inspire confidence. Honestly, the service didn’t warrant an exceptional tip, and the way it was handled left a bad impression. Overall, the event has potential, but they seriously need to invest in staff training — both in customer service and basic bartending skills.
Great property , very central ! Always happy to help .
We absolutely loved everything about this property. It was our 20th anniversary, and the staff could not have been more accommodating. We have no complaints. We even changed plans for our December trip to Brazil so that we could spend the time in Puerto Vallarta at this hotel.
This was my first time in PV Cupula was equal parts beautiful and social.
I have stayed there before. The last time was about 10 years ago. Casa Cupola has seen better days. The facilities were a bit run down. The room needed a make over. Bed comforter had holes in it. Bathroom was a bit dingey. TV never worked although we didn't try after the first day. Was supposed to have an ocan view, but you had to look way to the left to see it. We were in a suite, room 301. Although I feel it was an adequate value, will probably stay elsewhere next time in PV.
The staff welcomed me in a way that I felt I was visiting family ! The hotel is amazing. As a solo traveler had a lot of fun and was able to host my friends in common areas. The hotel surrounds are safe. Boris, the hotel manager and Noel, pool bar attendant were amazing. Cannot wait to book my next getaway in Puerto Vallarta!!
Super friendly and helpful staff. This place is a gem and walking distance to the gay beach and nightlife while still maintaining a secluded vibe up in the hills. I had a beautiful view from my room and loved all the amenities including the gym. The pool bar was great for socializing and the restaurant on site was great for a late morning breakfast. This is my 3rd stay here and I will be back again!
We booked a cabana for the Adam & Steve pool party months in advance. When we arrived, we found that they had given the ONLY cabana to another party. They placed us in a couple of “VIP” double lounges by the pool stating that it was comparable. The cabana is on a separate floor, very private with its own hot tub. The lounges were in between the pool and bar in a very high traffic area. The cushions were dirty. Not comparable at all! The overall space was dirty as well. The go-go dancers constantly harassed us for tips. Very disappointed with the experience. We would not go back.
We just returned from an annual trip to PV, which included our first stay at Casa Cupala. We based our choice on the previous reviews and high ratings, so felt it was appropriate to share our experience. I'm listing our obversations below, but in short, we wouldn't stay at Casa Cupala again. Based on the price, product and our experience this is our review (as compared to experiences at other clothing options gay hotels such as Pineapple Point in Floriday and Twin Palms in Palm Springs). For the price, there are several other options in gay options in PV I'd pick over this - even though they don't have 'clothing optional'. Pros Beautiful views Our room was very comfortable (we stayed in one of the suits). It was very quiet and comfortable. Staff - as others have noted, the staff is very attentive and helpful. Food - we only ate breakfast at the Bistro, and it was enjoyable. Most mornings they also gave us a complimentary sweet (hot out-of-the oven muffins, valentines day cookies, etc). Clothing optional - if this is important, it's available only at the pool club (which is only open from noon-7pm) Neutral Accessibility - if accessibilty is important to you, you'll struggle at this resort. There are stairs everywhere - even within our suite. We would tend to walk into town, and between the resort and the public stairs, i counted approximately 250 steps down before we were in town. Ubers are inexpensive, so if stairts are a challenge, you can get an uber/to from Cons Upkeep - while the room was comfortable and clean, the resort is dated and is in need of some updating (more noted below) Pool - the pool club is only open from noon-7pm. Im an early riser, and was hoping to sit in the hot tub, but was informed that the pool club is only available at noon. This makes no sense to me. I was told i could use the other pool / hot tub, but the other hot tub wasn't working. Gym - the gym has a strong oder (mold?) and a number of pieces of equipment aren't working properly Weekend Pool Parties - they are very loud and feel "forced" with a MC who forces people to engage by asking where they are from, if they are single, etc etc. And there is a "secret garden" that gives the vibe a bit of a bathhouse feel. No judgement, but very different from other clothing optional resorts I've stayed at in the past. Also, hotel guests don't get preference with seating at the weekend pool parties - you'll be told that you can sit at one of the high top tables in the back for no fee, or reserve chaise lounges or a couple other tables with a minimum spend of $150. This is on top of the $400+ you're paying per night. Suggestions for the hotel Pool club - figure out a way to make the pool club available 24/7 like other clothing optional pools, or at the very least extend the hours so people can enjoy it in the morning and late into the evening. Other clothing option hotels do this (Pineapple Point in FL, Twin Palms in PS, etc) - you can figure this out. Invest some money into the main pool, gym, second hot tub, etc. Even the electronics in the room can use a bit of updating. I don't know the last time i saw a radio receiver for music. Host an evening happy hour for hotel guests to give them a chance to mingle and get to know each other
Went with my partner. First of all they will be super nice to you over the emails but ignore you when you get there. The hotel food and drinks are super expensive and do not open a tab as they charge other people’s drinks to your tab. Our room had water coming from the air conditioner and they gave us a room beneath the pool bar where we could hear chairs dragging all the time. I did not find the staff friendly at all. Wouldn’t go back and don’t recommend going. Also had a burger that was undercook that landed me in the hospital.
Our second visit to Puerto Vallarta and a stay at Casa Cupula. We stayed in the Oaxaca Suite and (pro tip to those who are or have a partner who is a birder), the bird watching from the expansive balcony is superb. Thirty-plus species a day on the poolside Bursera trees, with parakeets and orioles among the regulars, and a Colima pygmy owl and black-headed grosbeaks among the specials. Don't let Casa Cupula's caution to guests that the room's balcony overlooks the hotel's clothing optional pool club and hence might be a bit noisy for some guests put you off -- the pool club opens at noon and closes down at 7 pm weekdays and 8 pm on weekends. We weren't disturbed at all. After a few days away visiting nearby San Pancho and Boca de Tomatlan, we returned and stayed in the Bella Vista Suite. The bird watching is not quite as as good as the Oaxaca Suite, but the large suite itself was beautiful and the size of a small house. The view from the very large balcony was excellent. Breakfast choices were good and the staff were generally attentive. The reception staff and concierge were excellent. Fellow guests were friendly, fun, and attitude-free. The hotel has its own car and driver for hire which is a plus. Overall, the best place for gay singles and couples to stay in Puerto Vallarta.
Magical stay with an incredible, accommodating staff. Looking forward to my next visit!
Casa Cupula is extremely well-run and the excellent staff is friendly, accommodating and make you feel at home.
Short walk into the old town. A great view of the coastline, especially from the pool. Fun vibe at the weekends with pool parties and activities. Food at the Bistro was great, and service at the whole hotel was friendly and efficient.
The easiest way to review the property for me is to say who the hotel is for and who it is not for. PROS: Beautiful views, great customer service, car available most times at no extra charge but I suggest tipping. We stayed in the Penthouse which was beautiful. Look at their website for more on the room and amenities. Room service was actually really good quality food. Most all taxis in town know exactly where the hotel is so never an issue trying to find return transportation. The bed was incredibly comfortable and having a washer and dryer in the until was great. Boris the manager was outstanding. CONS: Very very noisy. Pool parties can last for over 6 hours. They use a microphone and it's like being in a gay circuit event the entire stay. Clothing optional during the weekends. If that's your thing. Yes, I'm older, but it is like being at the White Party the entire stay. This hotel in NOT for anyone trying to have peace and quiet. Everything starts at noon and ends around 10 or 11pm. There is no escaping the noise unless you wear earplugs in your room the entire time. Also, there is a gay bar within feet from the hotel that also plays loud music. So if you're looking for a quiet romantic escape, this is not the place. It would have been perfect minus the cons.
Besides the two leaks in the roof which were small leaks due to the being raining season, I found it very inconvenient that if I wanted to have someone sleepover that I met with during the parties they had and then partied with them at the beach, which is in walking distance as well Felt it inconvenience that I am being charged for having that guest spend tonight in my room that I purchased for the weekend. Seems like another scam for them to get some money from you aside from what you’re already paying.
I’m very torn about how to evaluate Casa Cupula. I’m probably in the 3.5/5 range truthfully. Allow me to highlight some pros and cons of our experience in the Penthouse Suite. My husband and I chose Casa Cupula for our 10th anniversary (and also my own birthday). We booked the Penthouse Suite. Will focus on positives first: 1) staff are very friendly - Eduardo, Osvaldo, and Saul in particular. we both felt treated so well, especially at the pool and restaurant. These were high points. 2) restaurant is pretty good - had a reliably good breakfast every day and a few lunches as well. 3) views are spectacular - great views from any ocean-facing vantage point. 4) pool and parties are great - they have a solid weekend entertainment program and the host Lalo is so much fun. Fun games, handsome dancers, and a very friendly vibe. 5) Rooms are to a fairly high standard - we started with a vista king for the first few nights. Very good room and we felt we would have been happy there the whole 7-night stay but we moved to the Penthouse on the 2nd night (we had kind of a dual booking). Penthouse has so much space, well appointed, including a private pool and rooftop, as well as a private hot tub. My husband and I slept like babies in the very comfy beds. There are some definite challenges as well with the hotel: 1) Pricing - We met a few people also staying at the hotel and it was clear that we were significantly overcharged for our room. We had friends in a suite on the other side of the hotel who paid about 33% less than we did per night. You really have to price shop a bit - and keep an eye out for pricing specials. We booked last April 2024 for this trip and that was probably too early. There are so many awesome places to stay in PV and realizing the pricing issue, it was clear that we ourselves have to become smarter buyers. They charge $90 for an airport transfer - well, there was a guy waiting for me at the airport, who just dumped us into a curbside taxi which dropped us off at the WRONG hotel. So we had to pay more money to get another taxi to the hotel. And at reception, there was no real apology or something nice like: “let me get you a round of drinks on us” or just some nice gesture. What we got was “oh they had the detailed instructions” - and it made it sound like it was not their fault. Who cares whose fault it is, just turn it into an opportunity to show your service level. You know? 2) Mildew/Smell - There was quite a strong mildew smell in our room. We think this is due to the washer and dryer in the room. It’s fantastic to have a washer and dryer, but they have to be cleaned and maintained. The smell was not enough to ruin our experience but it was notable when you walk into the room. It did not make us want to use the washer/dryer. 3) Service - This is such a tricky one and perhaps our expectations were just not in the right place. Here is our thinking. We booked a Penthouse Suite, we are at a ‘boutique’ hotel, the reviews on TripAdvisor often highlight the service. But outside of the restaurant/pool, we did not feel that staff were really checking on us at all. We had chips and guacamole in our room on the first day and the plate did not get picked up the next day. So we left it outside our room, it sat another day. So we moved it to the first floor and it sat another half day before getting picked up. It was like staff never went thru the halls? At any point, reception or someone could have asked us if we needed anything, does the fridge need restocking, can we talk about some of our favorite excursions to recommend. Nothing. It was just weird. And in the end made us feel even MORE that we had overpaid for our stay significantly. We had nothing special AT ALL for either my birthday or our 10th anniversary, which was something I’m confident I noted with Felix the concierge in our email exchanges prior to arrival. Lastly, something they should address immediately: the gym is UNSAFE and outdated. There was one machine where the metal cable had literally snapped on it and it was out of order. Would that give you confidence to use any of the equipment? The equipment is ancient - maybe 15 years old at least. One machine had the cable tied in a knot to keep it from breaking (I guess). One treadmill did not work at all. The state of the equipment is very concerning. For what the hotel is charging, they should either update the equipment, shut it down or just convert the entire gym into a spa treatment center. If a guest gets injured because of the equipment, that would surely cost more than just upgrading the equipment. Lovely people, very nice setting, well appointed room, fun party vibe in the afternoons. But it just seems…rough around the edges. If I felt like it was a slam dunk to stay here again, it would be 4 stars for me. Yet, I just think we might find similar amenities with maybe more consistent service at a better price elsewhere in PV, so unless we get a GREAT rate in future, I just don’t see us booking here again. Which is a terrible shame, because there is a respectable product on offer here and PV is an awesome holiday destination.
Spacious room, fun parties in the afternoon, breakfast is good. It’s very quiet at night, yet only a short 5-minute walk to the bustling beach and a 15-min walk to the bars
Despite its large size, I wouldn’t call it luxurious. Everything looks dated. It’s easy to get lost in all the stairways, and there are not a lot of signs. If it wasn’t for the weekend pool parties, there’d be no reason to pay such big money for it, it’s not even on the beach
I really enjoyed my stay at Casa Cupula. As a first time guest, I must say their customer service and commitment to a great guest experience is TOP NOTCH! A cool towel and a glass of wine greets you at arrival. The views are amazing and the rooms are huge and well appointed. I can’t really speak to the food as I only had one meal and it was just okay. However, the staff is serious about service. At the Pool Club, Miguel and his staff made me feel at home. Miguel esta mi hermano nuevo! I know I am missing someone, but I appreciated all the staff, from Customer Service to Maintenance. Guapo Ivan, Noel, Eduardo and the whole pool staff made sure everyone was well taken care of. My glass was never empty. When the neighborhood internet went down, Miguel just used an honor system, trusting that the guests were honest about their orders. I appreciated that! The front desk staff was amazing: Saul & Miguel, Felix the concierge, & Angel the porter/driver were all extremely helpful. When I was checking out, Angel saw me on the cameras and ran to help me bring my luggage up the stairs. THIS is customer service. Overall, the hotel has a mini resort feel. There are a lot of stairs and the hotel is up a cobblestone road, so you need to be agile and careful. They offer great deals during the off season, so I took advantage of them. If the pool club is not your vibe (it’s open to public during events), there are 2 other private pools available. One was steps from my door and no one else used it, so it was a private oasis. The concierge is available for tours and anything else you might want. And they have a very nice Mercedes SUV to provide car service to the Romantic zone during the day so you don’t need to walk down the hill, as well as they have airport transportation for a nominal fee.
Having worked in Customer Service and Management, I understand budgets and the need to cut costs, for profits and for good customer experience. Here is something that needs to be addressed. I read similar comments online, heard an example from another guest during my stay as well as my own experience. Housekeeping staff MAY need to be allotted more time to clean rooms because some details are being missed. In my friends' suite, he found a pizza left in the microwave from a previous guest. In my shower, there was a used razor. When I reported it, I was told a housekeeper would come attend to it. She arrived, cleaned my room and the razor was still there and remained the entire trip. So...was my shower ever really cleaned? I don't know. Was the razor properly communicated to her? I don't know. Because others have a similar complaint plus my experience, it is a systems issue that needs to be addressed. I WOULD NOT let this influence your decision to visit Casa Cupula. I have stayed in hotels and resorts around the world, and their customer service is some of the best I have experienced. The staff takes pride in their work. It shows and I appreciate it!~~
Friendly and inviting
My husband and I just visited and it was our best vacation to date. Everyone was so wonderful, helpful and friendly. The facility is beautiful and the views from our room were great. Felix was our point of contact through out the reservation process and getting us checked in once we arrived and gave us some great suggestions on things to do and places to eat. The facility provides a lot of amenities and services but the staff is what makes Casa Cupula. From the time that we arrived we never felt as if we were a guest just there for vacation. We felt as if we were visiting old friends that we hadn’t seen in a while and making new ones. Osvaldo is amazing and really made our entire trip. Special shout out to Ivan and his pitchers. Thank you to all of the staff for an amazing getaway. We will be back very soon. If you’re on the fence on where to stay then Casa Cupula is it.
Can’t say enough about our stay at Casa Cupula. From the time we stepped into the office to check in until check out. Everything was top notch the entire trip!! The entire staff at the pool club and the bistro were amazing. Osvaldo was our server for a planned ahead special rooftop dinner, and numerous times at the bar and bistro. He always provided us with TOP notch service as did everyone else. Thanks Casa Cupula and the entire staff for a great getaway!!! 10/10 would definitely recommend.
The staff in every area were incredibly kind and helpful.
Tried Casa Cupola for the first time and found it to be a wonderful experience. Their staff was outstanding, as was my room and the many amenities they offer. In particular, their Sunday brunch was the best! Multiple pool areas, bar and restaurant so you really want for nothing. Will absolutely stay there again on my next visit.
Traveled solo and have always wanted to try Casa Cupola. I was not disappointed and was very impressed with the staff, my room and the many amenities provided. Had a large lanai/balcony to relax on and enjoy the views. Bar/restaurant service was outstanding as were the pool parties/Sunday brunch. Overall, a very relaxing experience. Thank you Jose and Simon for being the very best you can be. Already booked my next stay…..
Beautiful scenery. Very clean!
On a steep hill
Only a walk away from the centre
Just got back from a mini spring break vacation 4/4-4/8/24 with husband and friends. It's our third time back and it always feel like home. We stayed in rooms 242-243 next to the main pool. Great view, semi private balcony, rooms where located right next to the pool where all the action party was happening! PERFECT!!! Shout out to Felix at the front desk, Angel our driver and Lalo our pool waiter. You gents were awesome!
I really enjoyed my first stay at Casa Cupula. The room was great and included a lovely terrace. I met some nice people at the pool parties. I also did the spa package and Luis was wonderful! Most importantly, I really liked the people who worked there. We had some good conversations and they were very attentive as well . . . gracias to Felix, Miguel, Saul & Simon for helping to make it such a warm and inviting place to be!
Very lovely room. Quiet and isolated stay.
It is a special experience to visit this resort tucked away in a secluded area just 10-15 minutes from the beach. Although billed for the gay male clientele, no one is turned away from a party, a weekend brunch, a drink at the bar. The staff is helpful, kind, and classy. They always have suggestions on where to go. The suites range in sizes and all have great balconies with views of the water, the trees, the mountains. The beds, showers, and kitchen areas are well stocked and always clean. Go!
I absolutely adored my stay at CasaCupula. From the moment I arrived, it was clear that this place held a special kind of beauty and charm. But it wasn't just the stunning surroundings that captured my heart - the service I received was truly outstanding. My Queen Vista room was a little slice of paradise. With a private balcony overlooking the Pacific Ocean just beyond the tropical foilage, I was treated to breathtaking sunsets every single night. The room itself was meticulously clean and oh so comfortable, boasting an extra large bathroom and a cozy sofa facing a generously sized TV (although truth be told, I never really had the desire to turn it on). One of my favorite spots at CasaCuppula was undoubtedly the pool area, complete with a delightful restaurant and bar. Though it may not be the biggest pool area I've ever seen, it possesses a unique charm that catered to my every need. The bartenders and servers were incredibly attentive, ensuring that I wanted for nothing. For breakfast each morning, I headed over to the full-service restaurant on the other side of the hotel. The food was delectable, and the service impeccable. However, I must admit that the one minor drawback was the prevalence of mosquitoes in this area. Nonetheless, it did little to detract from my overall experience. One day, I treated myself to a day of relaxation at the spa, located just off the gym. The treatments I received - from the relaxation massage to the algae salt scrub and anti-aging facial - were simply divine. The technician who attended to me was not only professional but clearly well-trained in his craft. My only small complaint would be that the booming bass from the gym's music occasionally took away from the tranquility I sought in a spa day. Finally, I must mention that the hotel's location on the hills added a truly adventurous element to my stay. The walk up and down to the Zona Romantica business district provided a shortcut that not only got me to where I needed to go but also allowed me to surpass my step goal each and every day. Needless to say, my time at CasaCuppula left me feeling enchanted and invigorated. I will defiantly be back soon.
I’ll admit, I’m hard to please. I like cleanliness, a high level of service and nice amenities. Casa Cupula far exceeded my expectations. Everyone was so helpful and friendly. The staff here is so eager to make you fell welcome and comfortable. This was my first visit to Puerto Vallarta and there’s no where else I’d ever consider staying than here. A special thank you to Simon Oliver who went above and beyond in helping me secure my reservation.
This place is amazing! My partner and I celebrated our 26th anniversary. This was one of the best vacations we have ever had. The whole staff was warm and welcoming. Our villa was beautiful with awesome views. Felix arranged “Dinner Under the Stars”. The food was incredible and the night was romantic. Unforgettable!
Being a regular visitor to PV for the last few years, it was an absolute delight to stay at Casa Cupula for a few days. The staff is AMAZING!!! From first contact with Simon to make my reservation to Miguel and Felix manning the front desk, to Daniel in the spa and everyone in between, I just want to say what a wonderful few days it was for me. Although low season and very rainy, I had an incredibly relaxing and wonderful stay. The food at the bistro is incredible, the pool staff is amazing and the gentleman, I can't remember his name, who dropped me off a few times in the romantic zone and even took me to the airport on departure day was a true delight. This is definitely a treasure to experience in PV. If not for an entire visit, at least book it for a Friday, Saturday and Sunday if you can. I will definitely be returning on my next visit, and visits after that!!!
We absolutely loved our stay at Casa Cupula and can’t wait to return. Our room was stunning and the shower was 10/10! We were in room 201. Great views all over the property and the amenities were fantastic. We couldn’t fault a thing. All of the staff were so helpful and really went out of their way to provide great service. Thank you again guys! We hope to come back soon! Luke and Lachlan x
The tub wasn’t working and the sauna was off. It took about 15 minutes to warm up. Food and drinks were over-priced. The only thing that made my stay memorable was the staff, who were very attentive.
Fantastic service and rooms. We stayed in the Oaxaca suite. Beautiful room and large private deck overlooking the pool and trees.Yes it is a bit of a walk up from the beach or ZR, but wasn't bad for me. Only a $3 cab ride from the bars.
If you like walking it’s not very convenient and their gym could have been cleaner.
The guys are wonderful! Saul helped me a lot with my phone problems. And all guys were very helpfu. Muchissimas gracias :)
Great staff, lots of amenities. The pool area is clean and spacious.
it’s very private and excellent views with convenient access from the street level - and excellent poolside parties.
garbage storage on the lower level smelled.
Loved the view and the deck area. The neighborhood was a dirty area, garbage all over and dog poop as well. With the exception of two or three the staff was very helpful.
We were in contact with manager Felix who provided shuttle transportation to the resort which we recommend. Boris, the manager of the property provided all of the maps and suggestions for store, markets, restaurants we needed to enjoy our stay. We had breakfast every morning that was delicious and our waiter Lalo was fantastic. The room was spacious clean and private. We look forward to stay there again on our next visit to PV. Plus we always had a rif=de available to wherever we wanted to explore.
The staff was very friendly and communicative leading up and throughout our stay. We arrived late in the evening and Raul made check-in exceedingly smooth; Boris, the reservations manager, was also able to accommodate a late check-out at noon and held our bags for a few hours before our late afternoon departing flight. The room itself (one of the junior suites) was larger than I expected for a boutique hotel and housekeeping did a fantastic job keeping it clean and tidy every day. The private hot tub was a nice touch on the balcony but the view was mostly obstructed by privacy foliage.
We visited while the pool club was undergoing renovation and felt a little deceived that there was no conspicuous notice on their website or during the reservation process to alert us before booking. The other pools on property are VERY small and not the best for relaxing. The pool club did finally open on the fifth day of our stay, but it is also not an area where you can lounge and relax. The pool club was largely unavailable for guests open from 12-8pm with parties starting at 3pm. The parties (Thurs-Sun) are very high energy with club-style music, go-go dancers, and drinking games--not necessarily a bad thing, but you can't really get to know other guests, which was part of the appeal of staying at a gay resort. The hosts of the parties are friendly and the waitstaff are on the ball keeping drinks filled. The parties do tend to attract an older crowd (40+) with some slightly younger guys, and all except Friday are co-ed. The restaurant is only open for breakfast and lunch. We only ate there for Sunday drag brunch, which was only ok. There are better options in town. While we enjoyed our room, we felt the rest of the resort was run down and in need of serious maintenance. The gym has basic cardio equipment and weights (dumbbells and machines), albeit old. I would NOT use the "spa". The resort is not the most convenient option for walking to the beach/into town. While it's probably only a 10 min walk to the beach/into town, it's at the top of a hill with a winding gravel road that crosses a busy street. Overall, our stay was pleasant and an acceptable "home base" for a first visit to Puerto Vallarta. Given that room rates were comparable to others, I would have preferred to stay at an oceanfront/newer tower more convenient in town.
The setting is beautiful. The amenities are wonderful. The staff are top-notch.
Nice large room 403
Great location ‘up the hill.’ Lovely boutique feel to the place
nothing
After many visits to PV over the years, this was my first at Casa Cupula and it certainly won't be the last. The property is well-maintained and the rooms felt comfortable and unique, not at all cookie-cutter. The staff was incredible and called me by name. And the pool parties were fun, inclusive and diverse. loved it.
The staff was extremely pleasant and always willing to assist or answer my questions. We are already planning to go back later this year!
Loved the atmosphere
Amazing property, away from the buzz of downtown but everything is within a 10 min walk, the return up the hill is a hike if you are not fit, but Uber is available
Beautiful, quirky boutique hotel with a friendly staff and queer vibe
It's dated
Spacious rooms, friendly staff, and walking distance to almost all LBGT nightlife. Definitely would come back!
Wonderful facility. Extremely friendly staff. The room was nice and comfortable.
Great location, friendly staff, great pool parties
This is the perfect quaint LGBTQ-friendly hotel on a hillside overlooking the ocean in Puerto Vallarta. It is all the amenities - multiple pools and jacuzzis, including a club pool with restaurant and a rooftop infinity pool; full gym; full restaurant. Rooms are very comfy. Service is beyond outstanding - friendly, fast, courteous. Ubers are cheap. Also walkable to beach, but uphill walk on return.
This is a great little gay resort, about a 6 minute walk downhill to the bars and beaches of Zona Romantica and a quick ride up the hill. It is set into the hillside, so there's great views - and also stairs to get to places. The pools are well-maintained. Other guests were sociable. Hotel staff were professional and friendly. On-site spa and restaurant for those days you don't want to go anywhere.
Location and wonderfully large rooms .........................................
Truly a remarkable place. Not just a hotel, but a resort. Perfect for the single man or couple to enjoy Puerto Vallarta. The staff definitely goes out of their way to make you feel like you are in your own home
The Casa Cupula Boutique Hotel was a great spot for my recent trip to Puerto Vallerta. The hotel is in a prime location - walkable to numerous restaurants, bars, shops and more. The hotel is tucked away up a steep hill, but the views make the short hike (5 min. max) worth it! The room was well-maintained, very spacious and cleaned every day. The staff here is incredibly friendly, attentive and helpful. They provided me with local info and assisted with restaurant reservations and rides. They offer complimentary rides to places within the area - saving me money and time. Casa Cupula is a smaller property with limited rooms which makes for a quieter escape - all while being in the heart of the city. I recommend Casa Cupula to others and would absolutely stay there again.
Definitely not worth the money, AC didn’t work and was very outdated. I obviously did realize it’s LGBT. I’m not gay and obviously didn’t fit.
Location is great! The staff are really nice! I really had a great stay at this hotel.
The property is a little oasis away from all of the hustle and bustle of Los Muertos Beach. The facility itself is very nice. The restaurant needs to work on the buffet service more. The stairs are everywhere so you will definitely will get a leg workout every day.
The staff is great, very accommodating, it’s a bit of a trek to get too, so if you want to chill at the hotel, it’s great, but not walkable, lucky everything is a short tax ride away. Our room was recently remodeled and we loved it!
Loved the scenery from the room and the concierge was friendly. One downside was connection of Internet.
The place was great and the infinity pool had an amazing view. The downside of the property was that it was intense cardio just going up and down all the stairs.
The hotel is a small boutique hotel for the LGBTQ community. Service is great, as it is gay owned and operated. The staff is super friendly and do everything possible to make you feel at home or visiting friends.
This is a very nice, comfortable, clean and well localized hotel. Excellent staff and services. I recommend it.
I liked the multiple pool areas. The Taste Restaurant provided decent food. I especially liked the Sunday brunch that had a wide variety of food choices and was reasonably priced. The room was spacious and had a balcony you can sit and relax at.
The hotel is really amazing super clean the staff of the hotel very polite.... wonderful hotel I be very happy to go back at anytime
This hotel is awesome. Not only are you close to everything Puerto Vallarta has to offer, it's secluded enough that you can head back to the hotel and have the quiet you're seeking on a vacation. The amenities are top notch, and I love the homey feel you get from this Gay Resort. Not to mention the staff couldn't be more accommodating. They will literally deliver anything at any time of the day! I'll be back and I'm telling friends!
From the moment you arrive at Casa Cupula, you are greeted with a smile. The guys are the reception desk were incredibly friendly and accommodating. We had a quick 3 day stay in Vallarta and were so glad we chose to stay here. We will definitely return.
Outstanding service across the board...a treasure to the community.
I wish the water pressure in the shower was alot better than it was.
Great vacation, the hotel jas all the facilities you need and more.
Nice boutique hotel and very friendly/helpful staff. This was my first trip to PV and I had a great time. No complaints but be aware it is a 10 minutes walk to town and the hotel is atop a hill so the up and down will give you a workout. You can easily uber or cab it to places as well.
Great boutique hotel and beautiful views!!
Beautiful facility and stunning location. The staff was extraordinarily courteous, friendly, professional and proactive. Gustavo led a great team. The views are pristine and the pools are really nice. they were very happy to give free rides into Puerto Vallarta central (about 6 hilly blocks away). Unfortunately the room, which was large and comfortable, had a very noisy A?C system that didn't cool adequately, the toilet leaked water on the floor and the faucet for the sink was loose. Despite these easily fixable issues, the experience at Casa Cupula was great.
Our stay was fantastic. The room was spacious and comfortable, the staff really helpful. And there was a variety of pools to choose from as well as a small but well equipped gym. And the restaurant was delicious. My only complaint is that they close the pool at 6 PM.
The stay at Casa Cupula was amazing! We had a great time. Alex was particularly helpful.
