Reviewed Aug 18, 2026We really enjoyed staying in this historic house and will definitely stay there again. Great location, as we were attending a wedding at the Pretoria Country Club. It was very clean and quiet at night. We also enjoyed the breakfast and the company for Jeanette and Wynand, who told us a little about other historic buildings in the area. We also appreciate having a safe space to park our rental car.
The first thing I feel can improve is the availability of drinking water, such as a drinking fountain. Jeanette however did offer us more bottled water, but I think it can also reduce plastic waste of there is a drinking fountain. Secondly, the plates from which we ate in the morning were scratched and looked a bit worn down. Otherwise, there was nothing else that can be improved to have made our stay better.

Reviewed Aug 6, 2026Accueil chaleureux et attentionné ! Le propriétaire parle un peu français et il est vraiment très sympathique. Très belle maison ancienne avec une belle hauteur sous plafond et le style associé. Logement bien situé dans un quartier sécurisé et agréable. Bonne adresse pour aller dîner le soir.
Une des deux chambres étaient froides. On a dormi avec des pulls, je n’ai pas réussi à faire marcher le chauffage (en août c’est l’hiver en Afrique du Sud).

Reviewed Jul 8, 2026Ubytování má fantastický genius loci - viktoriánská vila pochází z roku 1904. Skvělou atmosféru a přátelské prostředí dotvářejí i majitelé Wynand a Jeanette, kteří se o nás velmi dobře starali. Je to jako cesta do minulosti se zachováním veškerého pohodlí 21. století.

Zimmer stark renovierungsbedürftig. Verhältnismäßig niedrige Aussentemperaturen und Bad sehr kalt und nicht beheizbar. Fenster und Türen zugig. Zimmer extrem kalt. Frühstücksraum nicht beheizt und ebenfalls extrem kalt. Elektroinstallation teilweise nicht funktionsfähig. Bei kalten Wintertemperaturen Zimmer eigentlich nicht bewohnbar. Daher leider insgesamt schlechte Gesamtnote.

The bed could have been a King size. But the bed we slept on was comfortable.

Our room needed a serious springclean and upgrade. Curtains were dirty. Carpet was really dirty and full of marks. The chairs were very dirty. The wallpaint were peeling in a few places. One could see it was old water damage. The towels very very thin and the blankets on the beds had marks on them. This unfortunately made that we didn't want to spend extra time than needed in the room.

Wir haben uns in der Unterkunft, die ein wenig an ein Heimatmuseum erinnert sehr wohl gefühlt. Das Frühstück wurde uns nach unseren Wünschen von den Eigentümern frisch zubereitet serviert. Wir würden wiederkommen!

Reviewed Oct 8, 2025One of the best omelettes I've ever had amongst the many, served with the host's warm demeanour that makes it feel more than just homely but accepted as part family. The antique character and it's framed history placed on the wall of a passage is an interesting read that takes you back in time on how this simple abode evolved over the years. The garden is lush in greenery and it would be nice to carry a book along to indulge in while sitting outside.
